Brilliant! I could have done this 2.5 years ago.... but my leg fractured spontaneously! Was supposed to have been fixed by a surgeon but was stuffed up big time once again! I am now a crippled woman thanks to shocking intra operative care! disgusting! Now they are saying THR but why should i have to go through this again again?? Nobody or nothing could stop me dancing before this! I can hardly walk now because of the pain I was left with!
@@sueclapton I can imagine some of your pain, since I had a broken arm when I was 8. Hope you able to use a brace to help lessen the pain when you have to walk.
It makes me feel so old to remember this performance when it first happened, it was a global phenomenon at the time and it has endured the years to still be recognised as one of the best performances of all time. Makes me feel very lucky to have seen it when it happened... but old...
@@gailhancocks5207But he worked so hard and got his own company together! He danced until 2016 and retired due to injury and pain. He loved nothing more than he loved the dance!
This dancing is a lifetime achievement and it begins with ballet lessons. I regret not following through with my lessons. I wanted so badly to learn This. It's AWESOME!! 👊👍👍👆
I've never seen something like this up thát close, but can understand it did ;) Also hard to understand something like this just didn't exist. Oh how I wish to have been a little older when this thing got off the ground. I was only 6 when the ESC interval act was brought to the world, but can remember Irish dance being on the TV SOOO much (or I just remember it that way because it was so impressive)
Had the same experience from the 6th row. After the show, my friends asked me to rate the performance. On a scale of 1 to 10, I told them I gave it 1000. By far, the best live performance I've ever seen. I've seen the show at RCMH 3 times, each time brought chills during the finale.
Michael Flatley was the Master of Riverdance !! I love watching him when he really gets "engaged" in what the group is doing . You can see it in his face . He really puts his heart into the performance . By GOD's GRACE , I got to attend their performance in 2005 . And , it was absolutely stunning !!
Magnifique ! Magique ! extraordinaire ! Quelqu'un a dit ''vous ferez des choses plus grandes encore que moi''. Il aurait pu dire tellement belles qu'il n'y a pas de mot.
Looking back to the good old days I am 68 years old it feels good to look back when there were good movies and music God bless everyone from Marian E Cox from West Plains Missouri thank everyone
What I love most about Riverdance is how it helped so many young Irish girls and boys realise that they had a tradition that had such power and such beauty and that they wanted to experience it too. That is a powerful thing that a tradition gives to the people who learn and practise it. I've seen it happen in Scotland when the rock band Runrig helped people see their Scots Gaelic heritage as something cool so that the young people no longer saw it as something to apologise for. Tradition has so much to give to the people of its culture and we all get to enjoy as it is practised before us.
I had the privelaged of seeing Riverdance in the O2 theater in Manchester in I think it was 1998-99. This was a life changer for me. Then a few years later I saw Lord of the Dance again with Michael Flatley. My then wife was in love with him😅😅. Absolutely awesome night.
Those Irish dancers are magnificent I have watched them perform over the years & now it is saved on tape for all generations to watch & marvel at, Bravo.
Thefre's ojust something about watching Jean Butler. All those dance moves are incredibly athletic, yet she makes them look effortless. And when she does leaps, she seems to just hang in the air for longer than gravity should allow....she bloody well floats on air.....amazing!!!
Nothing ever beat that opening night of Lord of the Dance in Dublin. The dance of the warriors still send chills down my spine and an inability to sit in my seat! And that young lass was the best Jezebel he ever had, she outclassed any that came after! Just awesome! My Son was brilliant but when he went to an English high school albeit Catholic the older boys found out and surrounded him in the yard taking the mickey out of him. He never danced again ☹️
Riverdance never left. It has been touring around the world constantly since the first show. If you check the official Riverdance website, they post the cities where they are touring each year. I, and some friends are going to see them in Philadelphia next year. (2025).
Yes absolutely, I agree I have never seen Riverdance only on UTube I absolutely love it. It's in the gene they are all absolutely amazing. I took the beginning of tap it was free, but mom wouldn't let me continue I absolutely loved it.
I love Irish dancing, but the synchronised line sends shivers down my back. I remember watching this on live TV… It was interval entertainment during the Eurovision Song Contest.
😱 Wow ! Wow ! Wow ! what an incredible performance, the music, the dance, the choreography, these kids are truly blessed, because to be able to dance with this can only be a gift from God ! 💜🙏🙏🙏
I remember watching when it was televised. My jaw dropped. Never had I seen anything so entertaining. And Jean Butler stunning beauty and awesome talent took my breath away.
Wow lads, what a show, they were so fabulous! Looking at the dancers faces, so concentrated on the movements of their feet. Saw the show in Boston in the 90's, nicer times for sure. Pity Ireland isn't the same anymore. Happier days lads!
Sorry disagree that this is the best Riverdance. The first time it was done at the Eurovision was unexpected and magical. Nothing will ever change that and it can never be repeated. Fair enough follow-up shows that can be very good - but can never match that once in an instant surprise at Eurovision.
I think you are right 👍🎉 I'm looking for other groups but can't remember nothing about them. Wish to find them again. It was my first time I watch them . What to say , they was more than beautiful ❤️
It’s one thing to see all of those legs moving in unison. But I realize how incredibly amazing it is when I hear every one of the taps occurring at the appointed time. 🎉
I was mesmerized by this, and thought, "So, now it's Ireland's turn!" Where you see a couple dozen, I saw thousands, and soon started to write a story about Ireland in the near future...
Their choreography is as tight as Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers were, in their day - however - those two could not ever perform 'Riverdance'. Could anyone?
tico is in the mood he hears daddy playing on his guitar. sounds like rock and roll again this beautiful bird steaks the show he loves daddy frank. he is a champ greetings from the netherlands
@jenniferhughes6057 yes, am inclined to agree, to do what he did, to put that choreography together would require a little arrogance, a lot of confidence and a bit of an ego i think.
I am 86 and still remember when RIVERDANCE BURST on to the stage of the POINT THEATRE IN DUBLIN during the EUROVISION SONG CONTEST interval . WHAT a fabulous night long remembered, unbelievable to say the least
La ballerina d'inizio ballo, pareva avesse delle molle nelle gambe. Una leggerezza ed eleganza, stupenda. Il ballo del gruppo poi FAVOLOSO!!! Davvero eccezionali
They are seriously way to focused on their dancing . It’s even more incredible when they dance like pros and are very relaxed and not so focused on their dancing that really shows the true beauty behind their dancing 🕺
I remember seeing this live. Didn’t care for the soft shoe dance, but Michael Flatley had a vision. Did the end dancer of the middle row have her nose taped? If she had a broken nose & could dance like that, she is superhuman.
Blurry. Is this available in sharp focus? Jean Butler is the personification of all Irish women through the centuries. Green eyes and red hair, and a thoroughly free spirited Irish lass backed up by all the other Irish lads and lasses.
Don't forget that this was shot in SD back then: it won't get any better beyond PAL-resolution, although this probably has some added compression from lots of re-uploading...
yep, like hte guy above said, no HD back then. This is pretty good copy though, there's a newer version out there, but not the same people obviously filmed in 4k and HD.
This is such a easy dance well it is when I'm dreaming anyway True fully sheer brilliance i remeber watching this time and time again with my kids happy times
I want both the dresses shown, but also love the performance. That synchronization was perfection

Love to watch Riverdance to raise my mood. Jean Butler probably the most beautiful lady on the planet. Mesmerisng.

Синхронность просто завораживает.
I once thought Jean Butler to be the epitome of feminine beauty, grace, and athleticism. I still do. This performance still gives me goosebumps.
