2:56- É Interessante saber que tu consegues ouvir essa união entre a consoante "S" e a vocal" U" da seguinte palavra.
Eu nem sequer me apercebo quando falo se faço aquela união de sons quando uma palavra termina numa consoante, e a seguinte palavra começa com uma vocal. "Liaison" em francês.
Não sei se em português há um ponto ou aspeto gramatical que explique esse fenómeno linguístico.

This is such an excellent video. I thought I knew how to pronounce these words but it was always so hard to make out listening to native speakers on Youglish. However, your breaking the sounds down in this manner has helped immensely. Obrigado. Excellent teaching style.

Nas formas "veem" e "leem" o primeiro "e" soa como um "e semi fechado" como em "vê" e "lê" e depois junta-se o som de "em". Aliás a antiga escrita possuía o acento circunflexo o que facilitava a pronúncia "vêem" e "lêem".
Eu vi esse vídeo no teu canal. Há uma espécie de pausa entre ve + em= veem.
Primeiro dizes " Ve" respiras, e depois dizes em.

Olá, é uma ótima pergunta. A letra E cai quando não é acentuada, portanto, pronuncia-se como o som "schwa" em inglês-ou seja, como o artigo definido "a" em inglês.
A letra A no final de palavras é semi-fechada, noutras palavras- é curta. Posso gravar um vídeo e explicar isso, ler alguns exemplos, seria mais fácil perceber e praticar ouvindo.

I am in the nascent stages of learning Portuguese. So I had a doubt about "Vimos Amanha" at 9:09 when I Google translated it. It translated to "we saw tomorrow" which is incongruent to what you intend to say (that's what I believe). Please correct me if I am wrong, as Google automatically detects Brazilian Portuguese, so that may be the catch!

That means "I'll see you tomorrow" like"ill meet you somewhere on the next day" or " Well see it tomorrow" in this case like you going to watch a movie or something else
Vimos is the present of the verb vir (to come). So, it just means we come tomorrow. The confusion comes from the fact that it is equal to the past of the verb ver (to see). But vimos amanhã can only be translated as we come tomorrow, not as “we saw tomorrow”, which doesn’t make any sense. As often, Google translator is rubbish.

@@portuguesewithmaria thank you for reaching back so quickly . Around 41-43 sec of video: “TER” where sounds “deerd” and end like a very soft d to me . I have heard others pronounce this way and never figure out why? Thank you again
@@fredwang2004 Ah, Ok, got it now... There-s no "d'" sound there, but there is a slight flap "r" and when you pronounce it that way, it may sound similar, but definitely not the same as the sound "d". The same sound you hear in American English, for example when saying: goT it. I might make a video on it, it's easier to show and pronounce different words than to explain, it sounds too abstract. Great question, keep them coming, I love this! 😀

I hear the same thing. At the end of many words that end in er, ir, when I hear it pronounced in Portuguese, there's a very soft d or t sound.

The Canary Islands natives do pronounce that sound of S, maybe portuguese influence has something to do with that
I didn't understand why it was Z in the words: "tens um" you explained before that between two aiou letters and aloso J becomes before COSMO here I don't see that:( Pls explane. I see n before the s

5:53 Talvez isto possa ajudar. Quando a Maria pronuncia o verbo ter na terceira pessoa do plural parece que ela estar a dizer duas ee " na palavra têm. soa tipo " Te+ en.
Acho que "liaison" provem da palavra "ligar" em francês? Não sei, esqueci... Mas, acho que faz sentido dizer "ligação" em português. Pelo menos é o que eu digo. :D Obrigada pelo comentário, José!

Parabéns pelas suas ótimas explicações sobre a pronúncia destes verbos sobretudo na conjugação da terceira pessoa do plural. Mas porque é que não ensinam também a conjugação da segunda pessoa do plural (vós) pois seria útil porque aparece nos contos, nas fadas, nas epopeias e na Bíblia. Muito obrigado 😊
não se ensina, ou seja, há quem ainda ensine, mas eu não porque o pronome "vós" saiu do uso.

Apesar disso, do facto de cair em desuso a conjugação “vós”, seria interessante por alguns de aprender esta conjugação pois encontra-se na literatura (fadas, contos, textos religiosos, até o nobelista José Saramago a utilizou em algumas de suas obras). @@portuguesewithmaria Of course! I’d have to guess that it’s probably so less used that most have forgotten it, kind of like how slang can be used very much in one area but almost unknown in others.
I’m from Viana do Castelo, so from the very north. We’re also known to pronounce v’s as b’s (Ex. Biana instead of Viana, libro instead of livro, etc).
If I’m not mistaken the Galicians also say vós, so perhaps that’s some influence from them since we’re very close to one another.

The word vengo sounds so similar to “baño “ en Spanish 🤓
they are two completely different sounds. the V sound is produced with teeth and the lower lip and the B sound is bilabial.
The Portuguese word "banho", however is quite similar to Spanish.
