Yeah, that's the biggest difference that I think most people would do the same. The cop wasn't in a safe position and bullets were flying around him and that's it. People forget that cops ARE NOT trained killers or have the duty of soldiers. They don't train everyday nor constantly for a gunfight. Intense video. I can't help but think that one guy with a rifle instead of a pistol could have ended this at the accident scene.
Also slight nitpick: the audio on the voiceover parts in this video was not good. It sounds like you recorded it in a bathroom or some place with similarly bad acoustics.

I can understand his adrenaline fucking with his hands making him accidentally drop his mags, he rolled up and instantly got lit up by what sounded like an automatic burst, something that really shouldn't be common in the US, his bloods pumping so he probably has that thing in a death grip, yet he still registered he'd dropped the magazines each time and at a speed that shows he's still mentally in the fight and not just acting on impulse, really scary situation and thankfully nobody of importance was mortally wounded

Houston has a soft-on-crime DA that loves to turn criminals back on the street. Couple that with thousands of completely unknown people crossing the border with Fentanyl, automatic weapons, and Chinese conversion kits for their stolen Glocks and this is what you get. And when it hits 20,000 people a day crossing the border you can expect more of this as well as cries for "common-sense" gun control.

yeah mag release location is important so is making sure its springs are right and tight lose or sloppy springs can mess everything up lost a mag in the woodss having one bullet in grizzly bear country 😐have bear spray to so wasnt all out but still not a good feeling extended mag releasses are competition only devices in my opinion to much to snag and push upon in real life defensive situations where things aren't rehearsed in a controlled environment

After coming off of 10yrs ROing IDPA, 3Gun/Mulitgun, i've rarely seen accidental magazine releases. Maybe one or two after ~200 matches. The more likely error is a negligent discharge while engaging in a tactical mag change, IE, pulling trigger instead of the mag release.
In my humble opinion, it's crazy that departments don't require LEOs to shoot monthly tactical matches.

Wild stuff. My wife was in the area leaving a dr appointment that day. Complete madness for miles with officers trying to get to the scene in a hurry.
She said it was something you have never seen the way officers were running red-lights, driving towards oncoming traffic etc trying to come to the injured officers aid. Not just a few, like a flow of law enforcement all rushing to help.
Screw those handguns, thats long gun territory. Wonder why the second group officers didnt deploy long guns to end the fight?

Gets shot at before even out of the car. Gets out engages in the gun fight while being shot at more. Continues fighting back defending the community eject some magazines prematurely finds out he’s out of ammo and then realizes there’s more ammo that he’s dropped, gets back in the fire fight picks up the magazines with more ammo and chases after the suspect. I think he’s pretty bad ass. Great job very proud. Thank you for taking care of us.

    We learned several things here…..
    1) Modified firearms with aftermarket parts and used for real world police use, proves most of the time that the gun becomes less reliable.
    2) An optic installed didn’t do Jack squat for accuracy with that one officer.
    3) Glock magazine releases are fine in combat. The problem is with extended aftermarket mag releases.
