The guys that set that first officer up to die should hang their heads in shame. They knew how dangerous this man was, yet they let a lone trooper try to effect a traffic stop. They don't show right after that officer gets gunned down. Special Agents come seconds when that Coward drives off. And they don't call EMS or anything. They were tracking that criminal they knew who he was. They never warned that officer or anything. He was led into an Ambush purposely. And no one's ever even talked about it. In that same video , you see all his officer friends crying and mad. De la Garza was a friend and mad.

I remember a little a bit about this case. Apparently the perp was wanted by some agency (FBI, US Marshals...). This agency knew the perp was very dangerous so failed to infrom the officer Darren about how dangerous this guy is before asking him to stop the perp. Officer Darren's family won a big suit because this and justfiably so.

Yep, what Jon doesn't show here is how quickly the FEDs arrived after the initial encounter. They are in the middle of nowhere. The officer didn't even have a chance to get on the radio to declare shots fired before he was murdered. Yet, FEDs arrived within a minute.

The first time I watched this I asked too many questions on how this can happen. I am not an LEO but I know LEO's and I respect each and every one of them. I have been on the opposite side of the law. Granted in a small capacity because of my own stupidity, but I know they're all good men and woman. I have seen the unedited version, and I am reminded of the evil in this world. I am now a family man and am fortunate to be a lawful firearm owner and a family man. I train and I train my daughters. My wife supports us and herself as well in training. Since I've followed this channel, I've learned much and complimented it with my LEO friends. God Speed to the men and woman who want to protect us.

Budget restraints and the vast openness of the area to cover - specially in the West.
All the more reason to be EXTRA CAREFUL and take your time with stops.
The cop was too trusting and had his guard down. He should have never allowed him to exit - but even still he should have demanded he exit with his hand in the air.
Then he could have pulled his weapon and taken cover when the driver exited without his hands in the air.
