5950X is still awesome CPU for the next few years. Gaining more speed and clocks of 7950X at the cost of huge increase in TDP and crazy heat..phhhh not worth it, totally not worth it.
I'm running a 5950x and a RTX 3090. So tempted to upgrade, but would be around 4 grand to upgrade to a 7950x and a RTX 4090. That reusing all my NVME drives, case and power supply. I originally built the system as a high end system so I wouldn't be tempted to upgrade every 2 years.....but it didn't work, lol!
Yeah I'm in the same dilemma cuz the new motherboards are so expensive so I'm going to keep the 5950x and I'm just going to upgrade the GPU to a 7900 XTX. Ddr6 would be nice in the 7950 ax with the Boost clock would be sweet but so would a money tree in the backyard ha ha
I have the Exact same hardware and I wouldn't. Maybe upgrade your Ram to Oloy cas 14 Ram 3600. Expensive $200.00 for 4 sticks for 32Gbs but worth it IMO. I watch people Down-Grade to a 7700x system or for a 5800x3D which is stupid. A 5950x with cas 14 Ram 3600 4 sticks equal dual ranked and dual channel FLCK 1800 will max out a 4090 at 2k Resolution no problem.
which motherboard works best ? it be for photo and video editing and gaming and maybe animation as well Also if u have 3080ti and a 3070ti what would u use them for as u cant link them together which is anoying So working out what to build as i dont think. can sell ethier card for what paid for 3070ti £850 when brought it do u know any good travel game cases one would fit in as may build portable work station pc
Agree with people wanting the newest but have no real use for it. I encode files with HEVC non-stop. Which utilises close to 100% of the CPU power. Only other thing that would draw similar power from the CPU is graphics rendering. Gaming rarely takes up even 50% of CPU power on ultra settings. Encoding and rendering are the only two things for what you need one of these CPUs. Even multitasking other things while gaming, will still give you lots of headroom on these CPUs. Hyped Marketing and no research leads to many mistakes from consumers buying the wrong products for their needs
Small correction, the 5950x is also Ryzen 9, not Ryzen 7
Would you recommend upgrading from the 5950X to 7950X for significant Blender stimulation performance?

Upgrade should be every 2 years or even 3 👌 but at the end it's all depends of your needs
the screen on the new iphones vs the older ones is worth, old ones you couldnt see in the sun..
