I always used Intel for years now and are currently sitting on a 13900k (with power limits, you know why) but even I do consider changing once the 9950X3D gets aviable.
Correction, the 7950X3D is on part with the 7800X3D or slightly better depending on the game. I don't recall ever seeing the 7950X3D perform worse than the 7800X3D
At this point, it is irresponsible to recommend Intel while their crashing and failiur issues haven't been fixed. I know the video is pre-recorded, but still, don't buy Intel until the issues get resolved.
@@manhdepzai2k3 i had to rma my 13900k, luckily the day before wendels videio, and as soon as the new one came i sold it as an unopened processor and bought the 7950x3d and it was the best computer building decision i have ever made, it smokes my 13900 K in every aspect but especially stability I ran a 16-hour Prime 95 run the day before yesterday with no errors, I used to be ecstatic whenever I could get my 13900 K to go just 1 hour. I am so glad i switched literally the only thing that my old chip beats this one on is cinebench results. but by the end my 13900 K couldn't even do a cinebench run without crashing and would be hitting 1.8 volts before it did. I have pushed my 7950x3d as hard as i could and have only hit 1.22v it really is an amazing chip.
I agree with the earlier commenter. Given everything we know, it is irresponsible to recommend any 13th or 14th gen Intel right now. I mean jeez, we’re less than 2 weeks away from Intel’s microcode updates. Updates that can reasonably be expected to impact performance. It’s also sort of absurd to use unsafe, out of the box, bios settings which Intel blamed for their degradation issues (before finally admitting it might be their own microcode as well).

@@suparibhau No. If you have had an i9 14900K for 8 months it has already degraded and it is not possible to "cure" its degradation. If you buy a 13th or 14th generation i7 or i9 and make the change in the BIOS you will not be completely fixing the problem but it works so that your boat does not get flooded after two years (blue screens, crashes, etc).

@@robertdelacruz7920 It was never "the wrong" microcode. Intel's original as designed spec has always been higher than what most of their silicon could handle. Intel has been tiptoeing around this truth. When they say the future microcode will have a "minor" performance impact, it is because dropping the voltage will decrease clocks below their advertised clock speed. The chips always needed that extra voltage to reach the 5.8-6.0Ghz stably, in spite of the fact it would lead to premature degradation. They just wanted to win benchmarks. Even their multithreaded benchmarks are basically a lie, because they only get the scores they get for tests that last under a minute. When any real world workload that those tests are based on is going to last longer than that, the clock speeds fall off a cliff. It's why the 7950X trounces the 13900k and 14900k in Blender and decompression. Any all core Cinebench run that isn't the 10 min is basically a lie.

Can you really recommend 14900K with good peace in mind? That 350W power-draw will fry the CPU sooner or later. So doesn't matter even when it is cheaper if it going to fry itself in a matter of days or months.
Excellent video and usefull comparison, although as others are saying it might be not wise to recommended 13th or 14th gen Intel CPUs given the oxidation and microcode issues they have been having. Still I would love to see an update of this video once the new gen of AMD cpus are released later this year.

It’s because of Intels garbage stock bios settings. Just sync all core and set clock speed to 5.7ghz. You can also set power limit to 253 watts. There will be no degrade at all from doing this.
Intel says its to-be-released microcodes will fix the root cause of the instability problems of its Raptor Lake CPU. It may be true but reviewers should not recommend Intel Raptor Lake CPUS until after the fix is proven to work first, which may take some time as instability doesn't appear immediately.
You forgot to mention how Intel's 13th and 14th gen chips have major defects in them and are degrading rapidly from over voltage. This is very misleading and can lead some consumers to buy Intel 14th gen cpus. I like your reviews, but please mention these issues that have come up with Intel and not just focus on price to performance alone.
how do you recommend cpus that are malfunctioning because they are 'cheaper'? especially for people putting out work products you just literally recommended them bad cpus that could start failing at any time and then where will they be? fighting with intel RMA for a month? Can you just stop working for weeks because your cpu can't get through a render? reliability has to be the number one standard of all especially for people who work on their computers. what a crazy insane review.
It's crazy to do tests and compare the performance of Intel processors on "unlocked power" to anything. Knowing what is happening with these processors and making recommendations based on such tests. But above all, knowing what we know now about the 13th and 14th generations and recommending these processors to anyone is simply unfair to those who will buy them on your advice. I'm out of words. It's tempting to say: "shame on you"

I think that the tests involving the 14700k processors were conducted at a time when Intel processors were running at inflated parameters from the motherboard, meaning they are essentially invalid. If you install the latest recommended BIOS on the motherboard, which significantly limits the power of the 14700k, I believe the ryzens will easily outperform it in any tests. Perhaps you would be interested in conducting such a test?

you're gonna hit a lot of nerves specially with recent events. But still, benchmarks are benchmarks. Pugetsystems are also getting bashed for telling that their intel failure rate is lower than ryzen, but still recently they have multiple 14th gen failure rates so it's gonna be interesting to watch as the true % unfolds
Benchmarks are benchmarks is true. But if a CPU is known to degrade, shouldn’t those benchmarks be run after it’s been in use for 6 months to year, and not fresh out of the box before the degradation occurs?
@@theTechNoticeYes. And around 30% had any instability issues. I have a 13700 non K. Still working fine after 8 months. Can't underclock it so automatically peaks at 1.45v occasionally. According to puget, they don't even trust the auto from motherboard manufacturers so they manually tweak the voltage.
I see two problems with your comparison. 1. The 7950x3D performs equal or better than the 14700K BUT at half the wattage, so that's critical and 2. Once the new power limits are on, the Intel CPUs may not throw out these impressive numbers as they are pulling less wattage. So at the same wattage the 7950x3D is better than both the 7950x as well as the 14700K
given the fact a lot of creators are also gamers the 3D version is almost just a no brainer, specially now with the Intel fiasco... and to think I almost got the non 3D, bananas! since latest AMD is crap I think I will finally buy the 79503D and enjoy best of both worlds with creation AND gaming
Intel 15th Gen could certainly shake things up, if the leaks and rumors are accurate enough. Intel is supposed to be nearly doubling the size of the L2/L3 cache for 15th gen, to around 64mb overall for Core Ultra 9 285k.(15900k) It's also going to be produced by TSMC on a much smaller node than 13/14th gen, going from FinFET to GAA, eliminating hyper threading, and changing the architecture. Intel certainly has a lot of hype riding on 15th gen. Plus Intels new foundries they've been building out should be operational in 2025 and 2026. Only time will tell if this can be their turn around point. If the price cuts on AMD 9000 series processors are anything to go off of, they're also anxious of Intels next Gen. Companies don't just cut prices like that for nothing. I'm certainly excited to see reviews on new CPUs and GPUs in Q3 and Q4 of this year, and Q1 of next year. Ive been hanging onto my 9700k and RTX 2080 in my laptop for awhile, I'm eagerly awaiting an upgrade to enjoy 4k gaming.
@Demonoid1990 while I hope Intel does resolve their CPU issues, I am on a 3 year hiatus from buying their CPUs, let alone even recommending them to friends and family. Something as major as this 13th and 14th Gen issue most likely will be hard to resolve and prove has been resolved. Look how long it took for the issue to become public and addressed. So for me, I can't in good faith recommend Intel until AT LEAST late in the Generation cycle of their 16th Gen. More likely middle of their 17th Gen. Also, I've learned to take Intel's and AMD's marketing benchmarks with a bucket of salt. Those benchmarks are skewed to best performance under perfect controlled conditions. That's something you rarely see in real world use.
These days, with most CPU's (Intel or AMD) being stupidly fast, I find I'm prioritizing power consumption over raw performance. If I were building today, I'd go with AMD's X3D variants. 50 watts is a considerable drop to the next in line in your line up and in all honesty, I'm looking forward to the dog fight between AMD's HX 300 series and Intel's Lunar Lake CPU's.
If you're gonna look at for the long run, the amount of power savings you'll get on your energy bills will be far more differentiating than the initial price difference of about 50-70$ cheaper price of the intel cpus
They are made for creative gamers. If you mainly play games and want to start or are a content creator that works on his own{OnePC, game, edit, stream...} The 7950X3d/9950X3d would the best.
Yes, and the list of issues has extended to their CPU's down to 65w's of use and up is expecting an issue. I haven't checked into it, because I wouldn't use such a low grade part, but what does that leave you, an i3?
Right now I use Intel 13th gen i9s for productivity and they are doing fine. It is probably because they are set up for multicore workloads and do not thermal throttle even in R23. If I had to do a productivity build now it would not be with an Intel i9. So I need alternatives and this video shows how well the currant AMD R9s do against the the currant i9/i7s. Hopefully there will be a follow-up with the 9000 R9s.
Great comparison video. For a gaming focused machine the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D is the overall best CPU. It's going for $309.00 on Amazon currently. So it all comes down to what you are gonna use your machine for and how much you can afford to build it with.
Why would your recommend the Intel CPU. Did you record this months and just uploaded it this today? The fact that Intel CPUs are burning up, why would recommend Intel?

Too many people complained about Intel, and here I am didn't bother about it at all. I've used 13700KF since 2022, and I used it almost 24 hours/day, it only rested a few hours/weeks, and I've never experienced crash, overheat, or whatsoever. In addition, I used 14900K for my other pc, and I also used it almost 24/day. Result? No crash, no overheat, or anytyhing else since day 1. Well? I am lucky? or?

Intel have been exist for so many years, and there are no major problems before, so I'm sure they would learn a lot from this accident with their 13 or 14 gen. I got all new internal everything in my new computer case in June 2024. I bought an AMD Ryzen 9 7950x3d. I'm a gamer, and I'm running an MSI GeForce 4080 16GB Super Slim, 96GB Corsair DDR5 Vengeance RGB (24GBx4) at quad channel configuration, MSI Carbo x670e mainboard, two Corsair 2TB PCI 5.0 nvme drives, My OS Windows 11 Pro is on one. and my games on the other. The PCI 5.0 drives are directly wired to the CPU. Running two 2TB Corsair PCI 4.0 nmve drives. A Corsair 1,000watt modular gold rating PSU. Topped off with a Corsair 7000D Airflow full size case. And of course Corsair All in One Closed Liquid cooling system for my CPU. Let me tell you something, Running at 1080p HD (I'm perfectly fine with that for now) running Cyber Punk 2077 in game benchmark with every setting maxed out. I get an average 156fps a second. That seems to be the standard frame rate for all graphic settings maxed out with the in game benchmarks on all my games. I'm sure this CPU's 3D-V Cache contributes to these frame rates. This is AMD's currently best CPU out right now. I'm the proof.
I do not think this review makes much sense. Even ignoring the insanity of recommending a 14(7/9)00K right now when there are massive stability problems whose scope isn’t even fully understood yet, buying into a dead platform is not a good financial decision. You are not getting more bang for your buck when you’ll have to purchase a new motherboard the next time you want to upgrade your cpu, and there will be very little value left to recoup on your old LGA1700 board. Plus, this video really glossed over the difficulty in cooling a 250W+ chip which is an added cost. Finally, there was no benchmark for file decompression which is a relevant task for some users that AMD beats Intel in handily. I think if your goal is “best bang for buck in 10% benchmark score victories right now”, and you already own a Z790 motherboard and a 360mm AIO then sure, but if that’s not you then there is little reason right now to buy these high end raptor lake SKUs. Wait for Arrow Lake if you want Intel.
If you build one right now you won't need to upgrade in 5 years so it doesn't really mean much. I upgrade every 3 years and I also would want a new motherboard as well so it's not a big deal. 14th gen intel does have a stability problem with default settings but if you just tune it manually it's perfectly fine. As far as cooling goes my 14700K during cpu intensive game pulls 65 to 80w at uncapped 1080p res and temps are low 60s to mid 50s on a 360mm AIO with no thermalright bracket. I wouldn't touch Arrow Lake on release since New Architecture = New Problems.
Yes go intel till your cpu goes .... Then you'll be buying another cpu. Less price to performance there. Plus with the Intel Cpu's running beyond intel's parameters from the MOBo, i believe that if you refresh the Bios with the recommended parameters, AMD would shine brighter. I'm most likely switching to the 9800x3d when it comes out, just preference after 2 intel cpu's dead within a yr
I bought a 7950x3d off amazon during a sale for 470 or so. I also have a pc with an i14900k. It’s amazing how much more efficient the 7950x3d is. AMD is definitely king of the cpu market right now.
Puget says its Intel CPU failure rate is lower than AMD Ryzen failures - system builder releases failure rate data, cites conservative power settings intel 2% amd 5000 series 4% article is out there. if you set the pl1 pl2 power limits and set an all core oc your good to go

Both AMD and Intel have increased the voltage to push clocks higher... We did that with old school CPU's to increase clock speed back in the day. Now the manufacture does it out of the box. This has to be a joke. I am running the Intel 14900K and I am suffering from nothing but crashes and instability, but the only good thing about it are the temps. Even then, I am switching to AMD because I cant play the games I want to play and do the things I want to do. After multiple videos of people showing that intel is completely instable, its wild to me that you are shilling out the intel CPU's still. I recently returned my Intel 14th gen, everytime I tried to play Ready or Not it would completely crash my PC or get a "Out of Video Memory Error" which makes no sense since that game uses only a 1/4 of my GPU. I thought at first I missed a update so I doubled checked everything, all was up to date including bios. SomeOrdinaryGamers dropped a vid about the Intel situation and after a couple hours of digging for a fix said the heck with it, I swapped to this chip and everything runs smooth as butter. From what I read this faulty chip is also hitting other games too, Nvidia themselves came out and addressed the issue that their GPU's werent the problem. Recommending Intel right now is crazy 😅

In the current situation, recommending higher end I7 & I9 from 13th or 14th gen intel cpus to anyone is irresponsible at best and straight up a scam to let people buy a faulty product at worst. If anyone is still a die hard Intel fan boy then I'd recommend stick to 12th gen high end cpus if you're on LGA 1700 or wait for their next gen Arrow Lake
The biggest flaw that I see was not releasing a 16 core SKU with full X3D (both modules). The half and half deal was just a bit difficult to match with software. Another worst of both worlds attempt at combining two good things that are normally in opposition. Half and half is much like Intel's P and E core optimizing issues.
Intel should call back all its CPU from market. Everyone is blaming AMD for giving us ridiculous Zen 5 9000 series as per performance with Intel one, but they know what exactly their fate would be if they go for Intel's performance with unlimited wattage.
What AMD needs to do is advance their CCD technology. So they could fit 16 cores on one CCD. Then they will only have to have v cache on one CCD. This will fix latency and also prevent a scheduler to be needed.
By the time they're squeezing that many cores on one CCD, you could still be getting twice the cores with 2 CCDs. It's a non-issue because we're aways off from needing 16 cores for gaming. The only game I've played that was clearly addressing more than 16 threads was Star Citizen using 60% of a 5950X. Game bar works fine if you've installed the chipset driver with a 7950X3D installed. There is weird behavior if you're in some situation that has you switching between the 8 core and 16 core models, but that is practically just youtubers doing benchmarks. The reason to get the 16 core is that you're doing more than just gaming.
I don’t think the marketing is a lie. It’s disingenuous because marketing isn’t obligated to educate. In fact most educational marketing has less success. The v-cache in the most easy to understand assumption makes your DDR5 RAM speed less of a factor. This can change as DDR5 gets faster. With DDR4 more L3 cache did do this. With examples in gaming it appears to still be the case.
Ignote the community who cant handle that we still like intel for everything. It happens so what? Intel is giving out full 5 year warranties. They are replacing items and if they dont have them in stock they are giving peoppe upgrades for free! So far they only aska. Few questions and you get a replacement. I know you need material to make videos, but even suggesting that a 14900 is a good buy is kind of irresponsible. Nobody should be buying any Intel chips until they figure out what the problems are, transparently disclose the REAL issues, fix them, and replace every single defective chip without equivocation.
Everyone under the sun knows that 3D V-Cache is for gamers not creators. -If all you want is to play games 7800X3D is the ultimate CPU -If you do both play and work 7950X3D is what you want. -7900X3D should be avoided as it oly has 6 cores with 3D V-Cache
Degrading of intel cpus is a huge thing. Compared to last december intel stocks have dropped about 60%. Half of that drop is since the last couple of days... go figure. Amd is the only logical option right now.
I get score on the R23 with 7950X in bios -30 offset all negative to cool down my score around 39000, so not a big difference between intel 14900k which dissipates 350 Watts manufacturing process well outdated 10 nm technology !
-30 on all cores is unstable. No doubt about it. Run Prime95 AVX2 FTT 768-768 on the best and second best core (only 1 thread) and watch it crash in less than 10 minutes.
Running R23 in single run mode is basically a lie. The real workloads that bench is supposed to represent would be a longer test more like the 10 min default it's set to. After a min the 13/14900K both throttle like they need to and the performance falls off. The 13 falls from ~39k to 31k~, the 14 from ~40 to ~38, while the 7950X goes from ~37 to ~36. Intel's boost period basically only functions to look faster in short duration benchmarks. It's pretty much why they win CB (especially that single run), but lose in Blender and Decompression because those run for realistic time periods.
That wasn't the chips fault but Asus being Asus again... that was nowhere near as bad and the instances were much fewer, also AMD was quick to remedy the situation (by making their chips more motherboard foolproof) and ACTUALLY make it right with customers unlike what Intel is doing now. Not even close.
I guess this is hardly relevant anymore, who wants Intel right now anyway. Lying about performance hardly beats selling broken cpu`s. So if you are a informed creator you stay well away from Intel. The advise to buy Intel, in the video, is bad.
You are way behind the times and have a lot of catching up to do, considering: 1. Intel's 12th Gen isn't affected by the instability/degradation issues that are plauging 13th/14th Gen (which has been an ongoing issue for over half a year now). 2. You make no mention of any Intel instability/degradation in the video. Imagine buying a ($550 USD $784 CAD £519) CPU cause a RUclipsr recommended it, just to find out you stand a very real chance of it degrading in as little as 1 month, and Intel might require you to ask for an RMA multiple times before they honor it (assuming they do). Sure they are offering a longer warranty after all the backlash, however we have yet to see exactly what that extended warranty actually covers. 3. 13th/14th Gen is also a dead platform. Only way to upgrade is buying a new CPU and motherboard. With Ryzen 9000 launching as soon as Thursday (9600X/9700X), why you'd recommend a dead platform to creators (or anyone tbh) seems pretty silly. 4. There is no marketing "trick" with the X3D chips. If you are serious about content creation and do even a small amount of research, you can see that the X3D chips are built for gaming first, other usage second. This has been know since the 5800X3D came out back in April of 2022. Can't be a trustworthy RUclipsr if you are going to miss red flags and not give the whole story for both sets of products you are recommending.

Hard to recommend Intel IMO considering all the issues recently and my own 14900KF died after 7 months. Currently the 7950X3D is about 20 bucks cheaper than the 14900K.
No but next time can you benchmark against the 7900x? I don’t know why you are benchmarking against 14th gen intel CPUs because it’s not just “some” it’s pretty much way more than that. I think creators right now would rather see how they stack up against other AMD chips rather than intel right now
No one should be using Intel chips atm, all they did was push the chips too hard to get them to beat AMD and they been failing now. My 7950X3D doesn't go over 65watts and does everything I need, gaming, video encoding/editing and programming and photo editing..etc. Also the 6000mhz expo profile works perfectly with CAS30 gskill ram on the 7950X3D. I also think you should have ran it at the recommended new spec intel wants them to be ran at, I bet they wouldn't do so much better since they aren't even supposed to run at those default speeds.

A lot of folks are simply not recommending them. 13th gen and 14th gen Intel chips are garbage and Intel is in a world of hurt.... Not sure how you can recommend Intel when their CPU's are faulty... 13th and 14th gen are not garbage, even lowering the clock for stability, they are still better than AMD. And what's the problem with lowering the clocks??? AMD only achieves stability with memories below 6000!! You can't use 7600 memories like Intel!! You have to lower the memories to have stability! Open your eyes, man, don't be brain blocked. Btw, I have a 7800X3D, the only thing AMD has done well in all these years. With 6000 Ram, I can't go any further

AMD are slower in certain tasks and faster in others. Brain Blocked... WTF. It's pro's and con's working or not working. Then the mighty blue team will they even RMA your CPU, how long will it be gone for ? I use both AMD and Intel. Intel is simply not worth the risk..... Oh btw how many creators/slash work stations is the owner/operator going to de-volt-underclock their CPU or even know how to do it.......
@3:28 - I would say the IMC on the 7950X is better. Many are unable to get 128GB working at 6000 with the 7950X3D but can reach that speed and higher with the 7950X.

I always used Intel for years now and are currently sitting on a 13900k (with power limits, you know why) but even I do consider changing once the 9950X3D gets aviable.

Correction, the 7950X3D is on part with the 7800X3D or slightly better depending on the game. I don't recall ever seeing the 7950X3D perform worse than the 7800X3D
At this point, it is irresponsible to recommend Intel while their crashing and failiur issues haven't been fixed. I know the video is pre-recorded, but still, don't buy Intel until the issues get resolved.

12900K user here, it is awesome and I am not going to upgrade it soon. And if I am going to then I will be going Team Red in future.
It cannot be fixed. Once the cpu is over a certain threshold it will be irriversibly damaged. No patch is going to fix that.
@@manhdepzai2k3 i had to rma my 13900k, luckily the day before wendels videio, and as soon as the new one came i sold it as an unopened processor and bought the 7950x3d and it was the best computer building decision i have ever made, it smokes my 13900 K in every aspect but especially stability I ran a 16-hour Prime 95 run the day before yesterday with no errors, I used to be ecstatic whenever I could get my 13900 K to go just 1 hour. I am so glad i switched literally the only thing that my old chip beats this one on is cinebench results. but by the end my 13900 K couldn't even do a cinebench run without crashing and would be hitting 1.8 volts before it did. I have pushed my 7950x3d as hard as i could and have only hit 1.22v it really is an amazing chip.
I agree with the earlier commenter. Given everything we know, it is irresponsible to recommend any 13th or 14th gen Intel right now. I mean jeez, we’re less than 2 weeks away from Intel’s microcode updates. Updates that can reasonably be expected to impact performance. It’s also sort of absurd to use unsafe, out of the box, bios settings which Intel blamed for their degradation issues (before finally admitting it might be their own microcode as well).

at the moment AMD seems to be the only choice for creators in the high end section due to intel's cpu degrading and stability issues.

@@suparibhau No. If you have had an i9 14900K for 8 months it has already degraded and it is not possible to "cure" its degradation.
If you buy a 13th or 14th generation i7 or i9 and make the change in the BIOS you will not be completely fixing the problem but it works so that your boat does not get flooded after two years (blue screens, crashes, etc).

@@robertdelacruz7920 It was never "the wrong" microcode. Intel's original as designed spec has always been higher than what most of their silicon could handle. Intel has been tiptoeing around this truth. When they say the future microcode will have a "minor" performance impact, it is because dropping the voltage will decrease clocks below their advertised clock speed. The chips always needed that extra voltage to reach the 5.8-6.0Ghz stably, in spite of the fact it would lead to premature degradation. They just wanted to win benchmarks.
Even their multithreaded benchmarks are basically a lie, because they only get the scores they get for tests that last under a minute. When any real world workload that those tests are based on is going to last longer than that, the clock speeds fall off a cliff. It's why the 7950X trounces the 13900k and 14900k in Blender and decompression. Any all core Cinebench run that isn't the 10 min is basically a lie.

Can you really recommend 14900K with good peace in mind? That 350W power-draw will fry the CPU sooner or later. So doesn't matter even when it is cheaper if it going to fry itself in a matter of days or months.

Excellent video and usefull comparison, although as others are saying it might be not wise to recommended 13th or 14th gen Intel CPUs given the oxidation and microcode issues they have been having. Still I would love to see an update of this video once the new gen of AMD cpus are released later this year.

It’s because of Intels garbage stock bios settings. Just sync all core and set clock speed to 5.7ghz. You can also set power limit to 253 watts. There will be no degrade at all from doing this.
Intel says its to-be-released microcodes will fix the root cause of the instability problems of its Raptor Lake CPU. It may be true but reviewers should not recommend Intel Raptor Lake CPUS until after the fix is proven to work first, which may take some time as instability doesn't appear immediately.
0x129 microcode only helped CPUs that were not showing signs of degradation. It doesn't help chips on the verge of failure or past failure.
You forgot to mention how Intel's 13th and 14th gen chips have major defects in them and are degrading rapidly from over voltage. This is very misleading and can lead some consumers to buy Intel 14th gen cpus. I like your reviews, but please mention these issues that have come up with Intel and not just focus on price to performance alone.
how do you recommend cpus that are malfunctioning because they are 'cheaper'? especially for people putting out work products you just literally recommended them bad cpus that could start failing at any time and then where will they be? fighting with intel RMA for a month? It's crazy to do tests and compare the performance of Intel processors on "unlocked power" to anything. Knowing what is happening with these processors and making recommendations based on such tests.
But above all, knowing what we know now about the 13th and 14th generations and recommending these processors to anyone is simply unfair to those who will buy them on your advice. I'm out of words. It's tempting to say: "shame on you"

I think that the tests involving the 14700k processors were conducted at a time when Intel processors were running at inflated parameters from the motherboard, meaning they are essentially invalid. If you install the latest recommended BIOS on the motherboard, which significantly limits the power of the 14700k, I believe the ryzens will easily outperform it in any tests. Perhaps you would be interested in conducting such a test?

Pugetsystems are also getting bashed for telling that their intel failure rate is lower than ryzen, but still recently they have multiple 14th gen failure rates so it's gonna be interesting to watch as the true % unfolds
Benchmarks are benchmarks is true. But if a CPU is known to degrade, shouldn’t those benchmarks be run after it’s been in use for 6 months to year, and not fresh out of the box before the degradation occurs?

@@theTechNoticeYes. And around 30% had any instability issues. I have a 13700 non K. Still working fine after 8 months. Can't underclock it so automatically peaks at 1.45v occasionally. According to puget, they don't even trust the auto from motherboard manufacturers so they manually tweak the voltage.

I see two problems with your comparison. 1. The 7950x3D performs equal or better than the 14700K BUT at half the wattage, so that's critical and 2. Once the new power limits are on, the Intel CPUs may not throw out these impressive numbers as they are pulling less wattage. So at the same wattage the 7950x3D is better than both the 7950x as well as the 14700K

given the fact a lot of creators are also gamers the 3D version is almost just a no brainer, specially now with the Intel fiasco... and to think I almost got the non 3D, bananas! since latest AMD is crap I think I will finally buy the 79503D and enjoy best of both worlds with creation AND gaming
Intel 15th Gen could certainly shake things up, if the leaks and rumors are accurate enough. Intel is supposed to be nearly doubling the size of the L2/L3 cache for 15th gen, to around 64mb overall for Core Ultra 9 285k.(15900k) It's also going to be produced by TSMC on a much smaller node than 13/14th gen, going from FinFET to GAA, eliminating hyper threading, and changing the architecture.
Intel certainly has a lot of hype riding on 15th gen. Plus Intels new foundries they've been building out should be operational in 2025 and 2026. Only time will tell if this can be their turn around point. If the price cuts on AMD 9000 series processors are anything to go off of, they're also anxious of Intels next Gen. Companies don't just cut prices like that for nothing.
I'm certainly excited to see reviews on new CPUs and GPUs in Q3 and Q4 of this year, and Q1 of next year. Ive been hanging onto my 9700k and RTX 2080 in my laptop for awhile, I'm eagerly awaiting an upgrade to enjoy 4k gaming.
@Demonoid1990 while I hope Intel does resolve their CPU issues, I am on a 3 year hiatus from buying their CPUs, let alone even recommending them to friends and family. Something as major as this 13th and 14th Gen issue most likely will be hard to resolve and prove has been resolved. Look how long it took for the issue to become public and addressed. So for me, I can't in good faith recommend Intel until AT LEAST late in the Generation cycle of their 16th Gen. More likely middle of their 17th Gen.
Also, I've learned to take Intel's and AMD's marketing benchmarks with a bucket of salt. Those benchmarks are skewed to best performance under perfect controlled conditions. That's something you rarely see in real world use.

These days, with most CPU's (Intel or AMD) being stupidly fast, I find I'm prioritizing power consumption over raw performance. If I were building today, I'd go with AMD's X3D variants. 50 watts is a considerable drop to the next in line in your line up and in all honesty, I'm looking forward to the dog fight between AMD's HX 300 series and Intel's Lunar Lake CPU's.
If you're gonna look at for the long run, the amount of power savings you'll get on your energy bills will be far more differentiating than the initial price difference of about 50-70$ cheaper price of the intel cpus
They are made for creative gamers. If you mainly play games and want to start or are a content creator that works on his own{OnePC, game, edit, stream...} The 7950X3d/9950X3d would the best.

Yes, and the list of issues has extended to their CPU's down to 65w's of use and up is expecting an issue. I haven't checked into it, because I wouldn't use such a low grade part, but what does that leave you, an i3?
Right now I use Intel 13th gen i9s for productivity and they are doing fine. It is probably because they are set up for multicore workloads and do not thermal throttle even in R23.
If I had to do a productivity build now it would not be with an Intel i9. So I need alternatives and this video shows how well the currant AMD R9s do against the the currant i9/i7s. Hopefully there will be a follow-up with the 9000 R9s.
Great comparison video. For a gaming focused machine the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D is the overall best CPU. It's going for $309.00 on Amazon currently. So it all comes down to what you are gonna use your machine for and how much you can afford to build it with.

Too many people complained about Intel, and here I am didn't bother about it at all. I've used 13700KF since 2022, and I used it almost 24 hours/day, it only rested a few hours/weeks, and I've never experienced crash, overheat, or whatsoever. In addition, I used 14900K for my other pc, and I also used it almost 24/day. Result? No crash, no overheat, or anytyhing else since day 1. Well? I am lucky? or?

I got all new internal everything in my new computer case in June 2024. I bought an AMD Ryzen 9 7950x3d. I'm a gamer, and I'm running an MSI GeForce 4080 16GB Super Slim, 96GB Corsair DDR5 Vengeance RGB (24GBx4) at quad channel configuration, MSI Carbo x670e mainboard, two Corsair 2TB PCI 5.0 nvme drives, My OS Windows 11 Pro is on one. and my games on the other. The PCI 5.0 drives are directly wired to the CPU. Running two 2TB Corsair PCI 4.0 nmve drives. A Corsair 1,000watt modular gold rating PSU. Topped off with a Corsair 7000D Airflow full size case. And of course Corsair All in One Closed Liquid cooling system for my CPU. Let me tell you something, Running at 1080p HD (I'm perfectly fine with that for now) running Cyber Punk 2077 in game benchmark with every setting maxed out. I get an average 156fps a second. That seems to be the standard frame rate for all graphic settings maxed out with the in game benchmarks on all my games. I'm sure this CPU's 3D-V Cache contributes to these frame rates. This is AMD's currently best CPU out right now. I'm the proof.
I do not think this review makes much sense. Even ignoring the insanity of recommending a 14(7/9)00K right now when there are massive stability problems whose scope isn’t even fully understood yet, buying into a dead platform is not a good financial decision. You are not getting more bang for your buck when you’ll have to purchase a new motherboard the next time you want to upgrade your cpu, and there will be very little value left to recoup on your old LGA1700 board. Plus, this video really glossed over the difficulty in cooling a 250W+ chip which is an added cost. Finally, there was no benchmark for file decompression which is a relevant task for some users that AMD beats Intel in handily.
I think if your goal is “best bang for buck in 10% benchmark score victories right now”, and you already own a Z790 motherboard and a 360mm AIO then sure, but if that’s not you then there is little reason right now to buy these high end raptor lake SKUs. Wait for Arrow Lake if you want Intel.
If you build one right now you won't need to upgrade in 5 years so it doesn't really mean much. I upgrade every 3 years and I also would want a new motherboard as well so it's not a big deal. 14th gen intel does have a stability problem with default settings but if you just tune it manually it's perfectly fine. As far as cooling goes my 14700K during cpu intensive game pulls 65 to 80w at uncapped 1080p res and temps are low 60s to mid 50s on a 360mm AIO with no thermalright bracket. I wouldn't touch Arrow Lake on release since New Architecture = New Problems.

Yes go intel till your cpu goes .... Then you'll be buying another cpu. Less price to performance there. Plus with the Intel Cpu's running beyond intel's parameters from the MOBo, i believe that if you refresh the Bios with the recommended parameters, AMD would shine brighter.

I bought a 7950x3d off amazon during a sale for 470 or so. I also have a pc with an i14900k. It’s amazing how much more efficient the 7950x3d is. AMD is definitely king of the cpu market right now.
Puget says its Intel CPU failure rate is lower than AMD Ryzen failures - system builder releases failure rate data, cites conservative power settings intel 2% amd 5000 series 4% article is out there. if you set the pl1 pl2 power limits and set an all core oc your good to go

Even then, I am switching to AMD because I cant play the games I want to play and do the things I want to do. After multiple videos of people showing that intel is completely instable, its wild to me that you are shilling out the intel CPU's still. I recently returned my Intel 14th gen, everytime I tried to play Ready or Not it would completely crash my PC or get a "Out of Video Memory Error" which makes no sense since that game uses only a 1/4 of my GPU. I thought at first I missed a update so I doubled checked everything, all was up to date including bios. SomeOrdinaryGamers dropped a vid about the Intel situation and after a couple hours of digging for a fix said the heck with it, I swapped to this chip and everything runs smooth as butter. From what I read this faulty chip is also hitting other games too, Nvidia themselves came out and addressed the issue that their GPU's werent the problem. Recommending Intel right now is crazy 😅

In the current situation, recommending higher end I7 & I9 from 13th or 14th gen intel cpus to anyone is irresponsible at best and straight up a scam to let people buy a faulty product at worst. If anyone is still a die hard Intel fan boy then I'd recommend stick to 12th gen high end cpus if you're on LGA 1700 or wait for their next gen Arrow Lake
The biggest flaw that I see was not releasing a 16 core SKU with full X3D (both modules). The half and half deal was just a bit difficult to match with software. Another worst of both worlds attempt at combining two good things that are normally in opposition.

Intel should call back all its CPU from market. Everyone is blaming AMD for giving us ridiculous Zen 5 9000 series as per performance with Intel one, but they know what exactly their fate would be if they go for Intel's performance with unlimited wattage.
What AMD needs to do is advance their CCD technology. So they could fit 16 cores on one CCD. Then they will only have to have v cache on one CCD. This will fix latency and also prevent a scheduler to be needed.
By the time they're squeezing that many cores on one CCD, you could still be getting twice the cores with 2 CCDs. It's a non-issue because we're aways off from needing 16 cores for gaming. The only game I've played that was clearly addressing more than 16 threads was Star Citizen using 60% of a 5950X. Game bar works fine if you've installed the chipset driver with a 7950X3D installed. There is weird behavior if you're in some situation that has you switching between the 8 core and 16 core models, but that is practically just youtubers doing benchmarks. The reason to get the 16 core is that you're doing more than just gaming.
I don’t think the marketing is a lie. It’s disingenuous because marketing isn’t obligated to educate. In fact most educational marketing has less success. The v-cache in the most easy to understand assumption makes your DDR5 RAM speed less of a factor. This can change as DDR5 gets faster. With DDR4 more L3 cache did do this. With examples in gaming it appears to still be the case.
Ignote the community who cant handle that we still like intel for everything. It happens so what? Intel is giving out full 5 year warranties. They are replacing items and if they dont have them in stock they are giving peoppe upgrades for free! So far they only aska. Few questions and you get a replacement. Im sry but i woupd rather use what i like and chance a failure and get a replacement then use somethign that zi have issues with dailu.

We have a forum up for people who are recieving repalcments which btw are so few people actually having the issues most dont even have the issues happening. But the ones that do are recieving replacements very fast. Now we have uodated bios new uodates from intel and another one coming mid august. So people getting these will be much much less likely for anything to happen but people will always run to social media and try listening to mainstream media. Lol
So do I get a replacement 13900k or get a 7950x3D. That’s the question I want answering

Hi are you able to review the 7900x3D? This CPU seems to have alot of mixed review.
I know you need material to make videos, but even suggesting that a 14900 is a good buy is kind of irresponsible. Nobody should be buying any Intel chips until they figure out what the problems are, transparently disclose the REAL issues, fix them, and replace every single defective chip without equivocation.
Please retest those benchmarks after the Intel microcode update. Apparently 13th/14th gen i5's and i7's are affected as well.
Everyone under the sun knows that 3D V-Cache is for gamers not creators.
-If all you want is to play games 7800X3D is the ultimate CPU
-If you do both play and work 7950X3D is what you want.
-7900X3D should be avoided as it oly has 6 cores with 3D V-Cache
Degrading of intel cpus is a huge thing. Compared to last december intel stocks have dropped about 60%. Half of that drop is since the last couple of days... go figure.
Amd is the only logical option right now.
First thing i do after booting up my PC is to under volt my 7950x. I use the cpu at 1.05 volts and 4900MHz
I get score on the R23 with 7950X in bios -30 offset all negative to cool down my score around 39000, so not a big difference between intel 14900k which dissipates 350 Watts manufacturing process well outdated 10 nm technology !
-30 on all cores is unstable. No doubt about it. Run Prime95 AVX2 FTT 768-768 on the best and second best core (only 1 thread) and watch it crash in less than 10 minutes.
And what does that matter? I do 18400 in R23 with my 7800X3D and I have more performance than you in games
Running R23 in single run mode is basically a lie. The real workloads that bench is supposed to represent would be a longer test more like the 10 min default it's set to. After a min the 13/14900K both throttle like they need to and the performance falls off. The 13 falls from ~39k to 31k~, the 14 from ~40 to ~38, while the 7950X goes from ~37 to ~36. Intel's boost period basically only functions to look faster in short duration benchmarks. It's pretty much why they win CB (especially that single run), but lose in Blender and Decompression because those run for realistic time periods.

Never allow a company to get away with selling you a defective product.
That wasn't the chips fault but Asus being Asus again... that was nowhere near as bad and the instances were much fewer, also AMD was quick to remedy the situation (by making their chips more motherboard foolproof) and ACTUALLY make it right with customers unlike what Intel is doing now. Not even close.
Intel wins the BSOD test hands down. How can anyone in good conscience recommend a Raptor Lake chip for anything in the current climate?
The 7950x3d is 546.00, 7950 is 522.00, I9 14900k is 546.00, 14700k is 396.00 on amazon
And a couple of years of electricity later, the AMD CPU's are much cheaper, and my electric rate is about 20% less than the average cost in the U.S.

I guess this is hardly relevant anymore, who wants Intel right now anyway. Lying about performance hardly beats selling broken cpu`s.
So if you are a informed creator you stay well away from Intel. The advise to buy Intel, in the video, is bad.

You are way behind the times and have a lot of catching up to do, considering:
1. Intel's 12th Gen isn't affected by the instability/degradation issues that are plauging 13th/14th Gen (which has been an ongoing issue for over half a year now).
2. You make no mention of any Intel instability/degradation in the video. Imagine buying a ($550 USD $784 CAD £519) CPU cause a RUclipsr recommended it, just to find out you stand a very real chance of it degrading in as little as 1 month, and Intel might require you to ask for an RMA multiple times before they honor it (assuming they do). Sure they are offering a longer warranty after all the backlash, however we have yet to see exactly what that extended warranty actually covers.
3. 13th/14th Gen is also a dead platform. Only way to upgrade is buying a new CPU and motherboard. With Ryzen 9000 launching as soon as Thursday (9600X/9700X), why you'd recommend a dead platform to creators (or anyone tbh) seems pretty silly.
4. There is no marketing "trick" with the X3D chips. If you are serious about content creation and do even a small amount of research, you can see that the X3D chips are built for gaming first, other usage second. This has been know since the 5800X3D came out back in April of 2022.
Can't be a trustworthy RUclipsr if you are going to miss red flags and not give the whole story for both sets of products you are recommending.

I am a long time amd and intel fan. Unfortunately when all you care about is investor profits and not consumer reputation you have already lost… but we only have 2 options. AMD is just lucky right now 😂
I no longer trust Puget since they said AMD CPUs had a higher failure rate and were more likely to fail compared to Intel CPUs.
Hard to recommend Intel IMO considering all the issues recently and my own 14900KF died after 7 months. Currently the 7950X3D is about 20 bucks cheaper than the 14900K.
No but next time can you benchmark against the 7900x? I don’t know why you are benchmarking against 14th gen intel CPUs because it’s not just “some” it’s pretty much way more than that. I think creators right now would rather see how they stack up against other AMD chips rather than intel right now

Disappointed to see an Intel CPU in this video.
No one should be using Intel chips atm, all they did was push the chips too hard to get them to beat AMD and they been failing now. My 7950X3D doesn't go over 65watts and does everything I need, gaming, video encoding/editing and programming and photo editing..etc. Also the 6000mhz expo profile works perfectly with CAS30 gskill ram on the 7950X3D. I also think you should have ran it at the recommended new spec intel wants them to be ran at, I bet they wouldn't do so much better since they aren't even supposed to run at those default speeds.
just over a week the 9950X will be out and if it can do 4 sticks of ram then all is golden.
Thanks for the review :P The Intel chips maybe faster , but they are not in a good way at all. A lot of folks are simply not recommending them. 13th gen and 14th gen Intel chips are garbage and Intel is in a world of hurt.... Not sure how you can recommend Intel when their CPU's are faulty... I'm a little lost. As I'm sure you are very aware of the situation currently in play!
13th and 14th gen are not garbage, even lowering the clock for stability, they are still better than AMD. And what's the problem with lowering the clocks??? AMD only achieves stability with memories below 6000!! You can't use 7600 memories like Intel!! You have to lower the memories to have stability! Open your eyes, man, don't be brain blocked. Btw, I have a 7800X3D, the only thing AMD has done well in all these years. With 6000 Ram, I can't go any further

Yes faster, yes higher memory speeds.. but at what cost ? AMD are slower in certain tasks and faster in others.

I use both AMD and Intel. Intel is simply not worth the risk.....

@3:28 - I would say the IMC on the 7950X is better. Many are unable to get 128GB working at 6000 with the 7950X3D but can reach that speed and higher with the 7950X.
