      No doubt they still put effort with the newer engine, but $70? Just gonna wait a few years and the PC port to drop between $10-20. I get they were trying to make it more in with Part 2 in graphics and gameplay style, but there's hardly any difference, and the original remastered still looks fantastic. Quite an unnecessary remake TBH.

      The way the game is designed obviously makes ray-tracing less of a gain than in, for example, a sandbox building game where both the time of day AND the environment are constantly changing (thus precluding the possibility of using precalculated lighting). Ray-tracing's efficacy and worthwhileness depends heavily on the specific format of the game.
      For heavily linear, cinematic games like this, of course it's not a huge gain. But this is a very specific type of game.

    • @JZStudiosonline
      @JZStudiosonline 2 года назад +5

      People don't understand what ray-tracing is good for and the fact that game studios have spent almost 30 years trying to emulate it. Nu Tera gives a great point about ray tracing being better for more dynamic lighting. It's just more impressive how well they've managed to fake it over time. I never believed the first gen of ray tracing would be the norm, but whatever the next gen is, it most likely will be, and it's way easier to use PBR pipelines and ray tracing than trying to fake all the lighting.

    I feel really bad for the people at Naughty Dog after watching this. When first revealed, a big part of the internet didn't see the difference between this and the original. Games always look better in your head, especially ones that looked great at the time. But this definitely is a huge step up from the original. So much work went into this, even an absurd amount at points if you ask me (like with most of their games).
    Hopefully this video helps showing the actual work that went into this project and get the love and credit it deserves. It must be heartbreaking for the team to see the negative reactions at first, knowing the passion that actually went into making this.

      @@Etheral101 well they can ask for any price they want and I as a customer can decide whether or not I think it's worth paying for , and based on that there can be an adjustment to from both parties to reach an agreeable price , I don't think the 70$ price increase is good because most games are barely worth 60$ let alone 70$ and things like terrible dlcs and micro-transactions aren't going away with it , but I think it can be understandable since games are becoming more expensive and if the increase means more quality products i'm all for it , sony does have good exclusives that are generally worth paying for but in this case remaking a remaster of a game that most people played ( possibly on both ps3 and ps4 ) without including the multiplayer mode is a bit too much to ask for imo , in fact I think sony handled the upgrades from ps4 to ps5 terribly in general with 10$ to upgrade from one version to another .
      As for demon's souls , although like I said i'm not for games being $70 so that goes for it as well , but one can't deny that it was a way more substantial overhaul compared to TLOU part 1 , and gameplay even if unchanged feels a bit different because they overhauled all animations .
      Anyway I think tlou 1 is a good purchase for people that never played it , but given the fact it's not a new game and the upgrades are mostly visual , I think 70$ is too much to ask for

However I don't like when people feel they need to devalue someone else's opinion for being excited or having the willingness or ability to pay.
      However the discussion of if or when games should be priced at 70$ is a seperate conversation. And also the relationship between the expectations we place on games and developers as consumers, and what studios decide to do in response.

      @@flyingplantwhale545 Did you even watch the video? But personally my problem isn’t with this view. Or for example when someone views the Switch as garbage (not saying you do). But if people go the extra mile to be gate keepers as well, “you are not allowed to enjoy that thing or you will be banished from society “, again not saying that you have this attitude. But when people do, and many do (one person’s Elden Ring review had the title “Elden Ring is not a masterpiece, stop lying to yourself “ for example, trying to kind of shame people into agreeing) that’s when it bothers me because I’d rather that we could all agree to disagree on many of these things because everyone disagrees on something anyway. Having said all of that, is this a cash grab to do a remake at this point? I think yes it totally is and it’s a way to much more easily release something by Naughty Dog while they work on new future games that will take years to finish. It’s kinda like when musicians release greatest hits records sometimes to buy more time to work on their next album or they just have writer’s block or whatever. But it’s what companies do and how I see it is that well, I don’t need to buy anything. Everyone I think would rather have a new game than a remake in general. But I guess I’m a sucker, because Last Of Us the first game is one of my all time favorite games so and one that I regularly replay so this for me personally adds something, some new excitement to the next time I replay it now with the new graphics and 3D audio and smoother gameplay and better AI. I’m mostly excited for the better AI and 3D sound actually. And for anyone who’s gonna play it for the very first time this way, that’ll be pretty epic. But I understand that it feels weird to buy the same game for the third time for the price of a new game. I understand but I’m still super excited, for such an upgrade to one of the best games ever created to ever grace video games I’m ok with paying for that. It feels worse when you pay full price for a very bad game. Did we need this remake? No, but I’m still glad it exists.

      But that’s the whole issue I have with the PS5. Given it’s hardware capabilities, why are we acting like the PS4 never happened, and thinking that these “next gen” games are the best thing since sliced bread? It simply does not match up to what the console was hyped up to be, since the games look no different from what the PS4 could already achieve.
