      GT7 needs the power of the PS5 Pro! I had this game in 2022 but bought a PS5 at the end of 2023 and played this game only for some days and then sold the PS5 again only to wait for the PS5 Pro and FINALLY enjoy the game to the fullest like it should be!✅

    Want to make a Correction, all PS5 GT7 car models are actually higher quality than what is showcased in GT-Sport, the caveat being that these higher polygon assets were actually authored during development of GT-Sport but were much too detailed to be used in PS4/Pro generation, according to the creator himself, the choice was made so that they would be better prepared for transitioning to more powerful next generation hardware in a more timely manner
    They chose to go this route, which is heavily bolstered by manufacturer provided high fidelity CAD data, from the prior learnings of trying to transition into the HD era from the PS2 assets and avoid how excruciatingly long that endeavour took to go from 4 to 5, even though technically GT4 did support 1080i with the right cables.
    Point being these aren't dressed up GT-Sport cars, these cars were authored and stored for use for future hardware that is capable of it from inception, & GT7 is starting to showcase that forward thinking planning, again this is according to Kaz's interviews himself

    • @MegaRayland
      @MegaRayland 2 года назад +86

      Good point. It is important to remember that by the time the PS4 generation rolled out a common practice in game development was to model a higher detail/resolution model for character, vehicles, and assets that would then get reduced to the required levels to run in the engine at the desired targets. This means that there were higher quality assets available.
      This is a practice common to this day.

      Some cars new to GT6 were used (touched up a bit) in GT Sport as well, off the top of my head the ones that featured tessellation like the ferrari F40 and KTM Xbow. In any regular gameplay scenario the high poly model wouldn't be loaded, but in replays and photomode they would.
      There's a big thread on GT Planet from years back where some guy named Emula compares GT6 models to GT Sport, pretty interesting to see. I think it's great that polyphony is at the point where the models themselves will look good for years to come, and they can work on how materials are handled. I admire how they go for a natural aesthetic, even if some say it's boring compared to the more colorful Forza

      In the case of GT it seems to be tied to the online component. Remember that this is developed on the back of GT Sport, a game designed as mainly an online multiplayer game. That game’s online features were incredibly smooth being able to quickly jump into online events.
      And with everything you do in the game updating your standing in the global rankings and availability for online events it seems in part to be an (over)reaction to what online performance was back on the PS3 games. Instead of having the online features kick in on request just have the game online all the time updating in the background.
      On top of that, if the news of the new AI system are anything to go by, it is possible that online connectivity becomes even more relevant down the line.

      @Esuard Leder Not necessarily true that's one of the awesome things about community servers for games like Team Fortress 2 basically it makes it where the lifetime of a game is up to the community even if official servers shut down.
      That's why there's been a big effort to set up unofficial community servers for a bunch of PS3 games recently it's when the developer takes that freedom away from you that it becomes a problem but then that's where emulation comes in to save the day when developers don't care about game preservation.

    • @theninjamaster67
      @theninjamaster67 2 года назад +3

      @Esuard Leder How the hell is that naive there's community servers for the original Demon Souls through the emulator RPCS3 and that game is old as shit at this point so why wouldn't people eventually set up community servers.
      I'd also suggest looking up this fan group called PSONE as they've been setting up some community servers and so far they have a few servers up for Motorstorm, Warhawk, Killzone 2, Socom Confrontation, WipeoutHD, Calling all Cars, and Twisted Metal Black as a few examples they have up so far (and they're working on more).
      Trust me it's not naive to believe there might be community servers made in the future especially with all the efforts being made to preserve all these older online titles now, believing something like that is naive just undermines all the hard work that has been done by these dedicated groups so far.

    I prefer Forza Motorsport, but I'm still hyped for this game (preordered it back in September, should be here today). My biggest issue with GT games is probably minor - I don't like how the chase cam works. It's like attached to the car on a long stick. The camera rotates with the car 1:1. Play basically any other racing game and you'll see the difference. Other racing games have the camera follow more loosely, like a drone is following it or something. You can see some slight car rotation when turning. I mostly play with my wheel in first-person cam, though, so it's not usually an issue, but when I don't feel like getting the wheel set up, it's a minor annoyance that I always notice.

It may be able to be played in VR once they release the game for PC. That may even be why there have been rumors floating around that the PSVR2 may end up being PC- compatible. Certainly would be a much better VR experience with higher-end hardware.

      @@BraveInstance I don’t like arguing against GT games because I have some great memories playing them. I understand what you mean when you say they’re car enthousiast games, and you’re right. The thing is though, that the car physics in the Forza games feel like a generational leap over the GT games. In Forza the car feels like you’re actually controlling an object that’s moving indepently from the camera that follows it. In GT games the cars feel like they’re stuck to the lens of the camera. It gives an impression like the car is on rails. I can’t describe it any better than that. It just feels off somehow. Also the Horizon games give you this sense of freedom where you’re taking these monsters out of their cages. It’s just so much fun blasting across a freeway in Mexico and meeting other players in their personalised cars. I don’t know man. Gran Turismo games just seem to feel like father time has caught up with them.

      @JRW They changed the economy repeatedly to make it significantly grindier with reduced credit rewards, and jacked up the price of the microtransactions, and made many of the cars limited time offers to make people want them more, but due to the high cost it’s impossible to legitimately earn most of them as it takes 100 hours of grinding the best tracks to unlock a premium car, or you can just pay the low, low price of FORTY DOLLARS. And that’s only the average for premium cars, they can go up to TWO-HUNDRED DOLLARS. PER CAR. It’s disgustingly scummy, and it gets worse: after they got user-review-bombed down to the lowest rating in PlayStation history, they made the economy more forgiving until a bunch of outlets published stories talking about how the developers listened, but then they made it way worse again to rinse people for more cash.

    Online only? What about the people without a reliable internet connection? This game was ALMOST perfect, atleast for me 😞

      I think they put online it because of cloud save modding something like that which everyone abused to get everything in the game, however I do see them putting offline modes

    I was smiling brightly throughout this DF analysis...that is, until the mention of an online-only DRM, which ruined everything. That being said, I don’t commit to buying online-only single-player games, and it’s a damn shame for GT7.

      Ironic a decade ago they were clowning Don Mattrick and Xbox for this but now their staple franchise from the beginning has this online DRM.

      I too never purchased an 'online only' game in my whole gaming life.

    Honestly compared to GT Sport and coming from FM7, I expected more visually speaking

      this is not worthy to be a PS5 title… it should be called GT Sport 2 and released as a ps4 title.

    Having experimented with RT in a handful of other racing games, I'm really not convinced that RT reflections add much to real time game play. A 120 fps frame rate is much more transformative. RT shadows, on the other hand, do make a difference to actual racing and I think they're worth including in real time game play. Would have been nice if we got a 1080p60 mode with RT shadows as an option.

    Nice, but hard pass! I don't buy things I don't own and can't use at my discretion.
