"Our country is becoming a third world country." That's hyperbolic, but if you believe it to be true, why don't you pay your taxes to keep it from becoming such?
+Kivi i There's a difference between a deficit and a loss. Businesses are usually in debt when they start out, sure, but that's related to the nature of starting a business in the first place and usually can't be avoided unless the owner has enough in-pocket cash to fund the business himself. It's understandable for the government to grant tax breaks to businesses that are just starting out as it incentivizes more start-ups to form which ultimately is only good for the economy. It makes absolutely no sense, however, for the government to grant tax breaks toward businesses that suffer losses. Minor, short-term losses, maybe, but how do you justify a near billion dollar loss as "minor"?That does nothing to incentivize toe business to succeed, and actually provides an artificial resting platform for the business to remain operational after long-term failings far beyond the point where a fair market would have seen them go under. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if many companies utilize a tactic just like this to curb their profits to the point that they report just enough of a loss that they pay significantly reduced taxes, amounting in an overall gain greater than if they had done better. This isn't incentive to succeed. It is incentive to participate in calculated failure. That does not contribute to a healthy state of business in this country.

The self made part was gone a long time ago. Trump inherited his money from his father Fred. If Trump had just put his $100 million into the stock market in 1978 he'd be worth 8 billion today without doing a thing. He's worth substantially less today because he has been a "genius" businessman.
it's actually kind of amazing that you believe that lie. 100 million would not be worth 8 billion today. to do that he would need to get a 11% return every year. he would be one of the biggest genius investors to get an 11% return average.

I'm glad at least everyone can agree that losing a billion dollars and avoiding paying taxes even though you're still insanely wealthy is stupid no matter which way you slice it.
During and in the aftermath of his Atlantic City/Taj Mahal adventure he stiffed small for businesses for a combined $70 million. www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2016/06/09/donald-trump-unpaid-bills-republican-president-laswuits/85297274/ Trump's offer to a group of 100-150 contractors with whom he went into renegotiations after the work was done, was 30 cents for the dollar.
It's not. It might be unfair, depending on your perspective, but his use of the loophole was genius. It's not like he didn't pay any tax, he just payed a normal amount instead of a massive chunk.
A tax loss is not a cash loss. The loophole he used means any losses his businesses had can be passed through to him. So whatever the bank lost in giving him the loan, he can claim that same amount on his taxes.
the early 90s was not a booming economy. it was just coming off a recession. Trump built up debt during that recession and the improving economy didn't help fast enough. this has been reported on extensively, he's written about it, but of course Colbert is probably the first person you have heard it from.
I know, Reminds me of that time Obama and Clinton lost 6 trillion, I know 6 trillion is only a small amount compared to 1 billion, but still. How do you manage I wonder..?
The same it's always been. A place full of racist that for some reason think that this country belongs to them because their ancestors committed genocide on the natives.
I think the most impressive thing there is that Colbert actually got that horn to play a G AND a Perfect 5th above it. ... Then again it was probably tuned beforehand or something but FUCK it I can dream!
It's the harmonic series--the horn could have played an octave below the first G as well, but nothing in between. He knew which note to tell the trumpet player, who probably bent his note to match better anyway. Still a great moment.
When a woman claimed Trump was a business man, I said,"We'll be lucky if he doesn't bankrupt our country" Unfortunately, he did his best to do what I predicted. Raising the national debt to benefit the wealthy is disgraceful!
"is it a good thing to claim losses that "don't really affect" you so you don't have to pay income tax for over a decade" ... well actually yes it is, he makes around 600 - 700 million a year without being taxed.
You aren't too bright either. He said $50m a year for 18 years which would equate to $900m saved in total which would make him cut even and not have to pay taxes for over 18 years. Smart guy if you ask me and anyone for a brain.
Man, I love this show. You should really get this quality of comedy more than just once a week ... :s (Thanks to all of you for the good laughs you gave me and all the other ones watching this!)
I live in PA and have a democratic friend who was voting for the first time earlier this year in the primaries. She asked for assistance with how the ballot works and when they went to demonstrate using a Republican ballot she asked if they could show a democratic ballot. They then refused to help her, insisting she was "on her own." Is that what Trump is referring to? Because I'm pretty sure he'd rather my democratic lesbian friend stay away from the polls anyway.
When my absentee ballot was finally hand-delivered after several phone calls and emails, it was tossed into an unprotected cardboard box upon returning it. My name along with the person's name who delivered it was attached to the ballot, providing no privacy or security for those voters. This very skewed system harms voters and results. I had to beg daily until the day of the election when a representative on the election committee hand delivered it to my door because the postal service kept failing to deliver it, three times there was one sent and none delivered they should also have been required to wait for me to vote and then return the completed ballot with them. What do you suppose happens to people that are not as astute and belligerent as I am when there is an election and they never get their absentee ballot delivered so they can vote. There was no record of my ballot being returned after I fought so hard just getting one delivered to a bed-bound individual that has no chance in hell of getting to the polls. Records said it was mailed to me a full week prior to the election, so I guess it just flew out of the mail truck or something. Perhaps the carrier knows how I vote after taking previous ballots where I voted and saw how I voted and hated me for it. There is much ado about the trustworthiness of postal workers that is not false. There is no security for absentee voters--even having their vote counted is hit or miss. I believe that every absentee voter should be allowed to vote in person with a representative dispatched to their bedside that brings the ballot to them and then takes the ballot back to headquarters and totally eliminate the postal service that is horribly lax and totally skewed.
“Um, excuse me Stephen, but all of my casino losses came at a time when Rain Man and Tom Cruise were traveling across the country, cleaning out casinos everywhere - BIGLY - and my 3 Atlantic City properties were no exception. Perhaps your low ratings - compared to my new BFF Jimmy Fallon - are causing your memory to fail you, but that fidgety little Kmart-lovin’ bastard was the only person in the world who could count cards into a six-deck shoe. Yada, yada, yada… $916 million loss for Trump.” - _Donald J. Trump_
my mom tells me that my grandfather was pissed at trump that time he declared bankruptcy for his own benefit and screwed all those employees over. i can only imagine how he'd feel if he were here today, now that he's the freakin' president.
Hillary is way better than Trump, because while working as Secretary of State, and discoverd by the inspector general in 2014, Hillary lost or misplaced 6 billion of our hard earned tax dollars. Hillary is awesome, especially if your rich! Hillary used the same tax loophole in her 2015 taxes, for a substantial tax write off, and didn't pay almost 3/4 of a million dollars in taxes. Politicians like Hillary, and her elite special interest cronies, are the ones who made and passed these tax laws, so the rich can get richer. Hillarys tax plan seems great if you don't know any better, but it will effectively squeezes out the upper and middle class, leaving only extreme poverty and the elite 1%. That's not a good tax plan. Hillarys The Clinton foundation, is entirely tax free, and is used to receive donations from people who want tax write offs. Once the foundation recives a donation, that donation is tax write off for the person who gives it. Hillarys foundation then takes that donation, and doesn't pay taxes on it either. Even under federal investigation, Hillarys foundation was found not to fit the model of any charity, because in regaurds to almost half a billion dollars at the time in question, they used 90% of the money for personal expenses. That's all tax free money, and if you do the independent research, Hillary is the queen of tax free for the elite upper class 1%. Do the independent research on Hillary and dig deep. RUclips search, Hillary saying super predators, Hillary and the kkk leader, Hillary slandering sexual assault victims, or the dirt on Hillary. The list is crazy long, but take the time, and do your in depth research.
Done Lostme 1995 - 2005 YOY revenue growth (decline) of Atlantic City casinos *Trump casinos = (0.11%)* Other casinos = 1.98% 2005 versus 1995 revenue increase (decrease) of Atlantic City casinos *Trump casinos = (1.05%)* Other casinos = 21.70% 1995 - 2005 casino industry return on stock performance *Trump Hotels & Resorts = (89%)* Harrah's = 140% Boyd Gaming = 280% MGM = 430% Dow Jones Casino Index = 160% I ask again, where is this *_"business genius"_* the country keeps hearing about??
the Greatjon simple most of those casinos are international and not private. i mean hillary and bill made 100's of millions doing literally nothing of value.
the Greatjon interesting. tell me how many of their brands are in ac? on that list only borgata and harrahs are worth going to. trump was one of the first to invest heavily in ac before any of the others. but im not gunna hold a guy that had like a handful of failed businesses when he has 100's of others that are successful.
Sloth from The Goonies You're right, but I'm not the one saying her deleted emails were a 'mistake'. I don't think they were. But this definitely wasn't. The business expert lost $1B....on Casinos...
Icelandic Potato why Colbert is the helping him win every time he and the media show him in their show it spreads awareness for him their are people in Canada who thought he already won because of how much media attention he was getting
Same here in Mexico, not because we would care about mexican immigrants coming back, we are affraid to all the people in US affraid of Trump to come to Mexico to ask political asylum.
we have a whole island set aside for US political refugees. cbiftrumpwins.com/#intro and a dating site www.google.ca/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2016/may/10/maple-match-dating-service-americans-canada-trump?client=ms-android-rogers-ca
You know, it really gets me how Trump supporters are making ridiculous statements with no evidence, and then calling anyone who disagrees with them (often with evidence) uninformed. I mean, how hypocritical can you get?
To Mr. Bond James, lol no. Trump's businesses lost $916 million dollars no matter how you want to look at it. Because that $916 million in losses are a carry-forward tax deductible, he was able to reduce his taxable income by up to $50 million each year until that $916 million is gone. Reducing your taxable income by $50 million each year is not the same as earning $50 million each year. But in case you're too daft: If I buy a guitar for $500 and then sell that guitar for $250, I now have a $250 loss. If I then decide to save money by not spending another $500 on a guitar, that does not mean that I earned $500 by not buying another guitar. Saving is not the same as earning. This may not be the most accurate example, but it gets the point across. tl;dr reducing your taxable income by $50 million each year is not the same as earning $50 million each year. Saving is not the same as earning.
most business' usually have a loss due to bad deals or a bad working environment etc. doesn't make that person less of a business man he can back from it.
I don't think anyone is saying he's a genius for losing a billion dollars so much as he's smart to then take advantage of that mistake and basically cover that loss in not having to pay taxes.
You don't need to be a genius to take advantage of loopholes in the tax code. You just need to have a competent accountant. What I don't understand why people think this low moral character would plug those loopholes that have made HIM rich. And I emphasize that they made him rich, not the nation. So why would he fix the system?
ignoring the fact that should be federal crime. what about his unpay workers and the small detail about his economy policies being favor the 1% screw every one else. only the 1% pay death tax and he want to remove regulations on the 1% like what we had before the great depression.
Yeah, congratulations for loosing almost a billion dollars and then take advantage of loopholes to avoid supporting the state, covering it all up and sell yourself as a brilliant moneymaker to the public. What a genius! So, this is the financial brilliance we can expect from him. Making others pay for his screw ups has become a strange meme in the last months. First his facade of a foundation where he is using money that people have donated for charity for his own enrichment and to bribe a politician to get out of legal trouble. A move so disgusting I don't even have words for it. And still people pat him on the back and spin it around until you can see him as a genius again. What is this man doing to your judgement?
Indeed, though to be fair, uneducated people make the same mistake constantly. In the back of mind I want Colbert to make a joke about it, but then I realize it's such a commonly misunderstood term that it would be hard as hell too make it funny.
Zarkow he never lied about the loss. it was in his book that he wrote. and yes he isnt allowed to release them because he is being audited. if the irs had anything on him believe me we would all know.
Ashish Patel To claim he cannot release his old tax-returns is a LIE. If you don't know this, then you are either ignorant or a shill. You can double-check it with IRS even.
Ashish Patel More proof you are an idiot. Your tax-returns are not things being audited, they are decisions by the IRS already approved. Trump is refusing to release anything, but only his actual accounting is being audited, not anything else. Drumph-voter found.
I cannot believe that there is actually a single human who embodies the entirety of my list of deplorable human characteristics which I cannot stand in people, and I even more so cannot believe that this human is one of the choices for President of the United States of America.... 0.o?
Over inflated sense of self worth, extremely egotistical, superficial, physically consumed and absorbed, unfaithful to their spouse (3 divorces), someone who belittles others to further inflate their sense of self worth, lacks respect for others but demands it for them, lacks empathy and compassion... But lets elect him for president to lead the way, and really set the example we should all be following. FML
Pretty sure they play a song right after his opening monologue while they get set up for the next bit, but he never posts their performances to RUclips.
They do the same as most musicians on every late night show. play music for the audience before the show starts, and during commercial breaks. Most of the time the show is not live on TV , so that one hour you see on TV could have been 2 hours.
That's not the point you stupid fuck! Since you have your head so far up your ass, you will not see Hillary has him by her side at event's quoting how successful he is! You have made it very clear that you are not very bright! Go ahead and rebuttal with a another stupid fuck statement.... It's obvious your education only goes so far! "TRUMP 2016"🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Then what is your point? It's okay for a presidential candidate to say he's a genius businessman when he has an evident record of losing almost a billion dollars? It's okay for the rich to cheat on their taxes? Do comedians have business degrees? You never actually made a point. So I think I will. Warren Buffet is an advocate for raising taxes on the rich. He's spoken out on it before. In fact they named a proposed tax law after him. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffett_Rule He does not however, publicize his taxes, so we don't know his actual tax rate. Save for when he said he pays less than his secretary.
Trump didn't lose any of that 900 some million on the Casinos. That was all investor money that he claimed was his. The first rule of being rich is that you'll never get richer by spending your own money, so spend other peoples' money instead.
come on.. he lost the billion in the BEST way... no one has ever lost money so amazing. It was a YUGE amount.. that was invested by the most tremendous projects, but they failed.. cuz they are losers and took hes best amazing tremendous yuge amount of money.. Come on.. Hes the best :D
If he knew about the loophole and decided not to use it, I would be more concerned. He was smart to use it, and he was smart to tweet that he would be able to fix the loopholes. The way he got out of his massive debt is ingenious. He might make a terrible president, but I think he's only a good businessman because of how much he failed. If someone never made a single mistake, they would never improve. You're beating a dead bush. I want to watch you, Colbert, but you're getting too obviously biased for me. I'll stick with John Oliver- he's opinionated, but his research team is light years ahead of you.
The loopholes. He's not going to block things that are to his own advantage. Besides, he does not understand tax code- the people he hires understand tax code.
The loopholes. Why would he want to block something that he very clearly benefited from? This is basically just like his argument about trade and sending jobs overseas. You expect me to believe that he really is against outsourcing American jobs, when he does this very same thing himself? Look the simple fact is that if he is staying rich off of his failures and utilizing tax loopholes, then that does not really show much confidence when it comes to him possibly being president. Fiscal responsibility is important when it comes to the national debt, and he can't just default on the deficit like he would with his own debt.
Wait so If I do something immoral but not illegal I'm smart? Time to rack up some Renegade points =D. But Seriously tax money is for Funding things like the Military, Education, Government Agencies like the EPA who keep companies from dumping dangerous chemicals in poorly built storage facilities dangerously close to where we get our drinking water "just because it saves money for their shareholders"... soo being part of the problem is not being a leader
I'm so tired of these political parties dividing the citizens. There needs to be a disbandment of the current government and decisions need to be based in the people's favor, voted by the people. Why do we elect officials to make decisions for us when it's so obvious they're doing it for themselves
yup, that's the point of these shows... to milk out what is hot right now.... why does everyone forget what a show is? there made to make money, and trump makes them money
This is hilarious. Like the entire concept that Trump is dumb for losing 900 million dollars. You guys do realize that this makes him one of the greatest businessmen on earth right? If he can lose 900 million and still be one of the richest people on earth, he is fucking phenomenal. Like seriously, did you guys even think about this story before even writing it?
IB Savage. Ok. Let's get something out here to start with: I won't be voting for either Trump or Hillary. It takes a giant imbecile to lose almost a billion dollars in 3 different casinos. The house always wins eventually. I don't know how it's possible he lost that much. He isn't even a great businessman, his dad was, he just inherited a lot of money. It is estimated he inherited 5 billion dollars. Now he only has 3 billion.
Trump owns 500+ businesses and only 7 had chapter 11 bankruptcy. That's what? 98% success rate? Not to mention he is a billionaire. If that doesn't make him successful then idk what does
being a billionaire doesn't mean success if it is inherited like in the Trump family same goes for other billionaire families. The grand father builds an imperium and the kids and grand kids slowly break it a part, lose money or 916 billion and eventually go broke. The story of the Trump ancestors is very interesting and remarkable with a smart business man that knew what he was doing but what remains is a sad story.
The only reason you like trump is because the media sources you actually trust told you he'd make a swell president. If you knew him personally, chances are he'd owe you money.
The problem is that the American people don't have enough sense to find someone better than Hillary or Trump. The only smart thing that voters have done was to not endorse Bernie. ...of course a whole bunch of people were supporting Bernie, which is really sad.
the fact that you would fall for that exact narrative which they are selling, was predicted by them and is pathetic! Abolish/Reform 2016...it's not just a fundamental right, but a DUTY! SMH
While everyone else points out something about trump I would like to point out, when asked "my goodness, john have you ever smelled a dead ram"' john replied with "yea".

"Our country is becoming a third world country."

+Kivi i that's why its right to make the already wealthy pay a bit more and ease the tax burden on small-medium size businesses.

No matter who wins this nightmare of an election, we can take solace knowing that Stephen Colbert will be there to render comedic first-aid.
Done Lostme most people just watch it online. Like when his highlights get trending on youtube
@Done Lostme We're all still watching😝 *Long live Colbert!*
facts
Losing a billion dollars is one thing but losing in a boom market where practicly any investment made money is quite another.
the early 90s was not a booming economy. it was just coming off a recession. Trump built up debt during that recession and the improving economy didn't help fast enough. this has been reported on extensively, he's written about it, but of course Colbert is probably the first person you have heard it from.
+Brendan O'Brien someone has been lied to by trump..lol
When was the 90s a booming economy. Because gas was 90 cents a gallon? lmao.
zcribe what about opening a mortgage company right before the housing market collapse?
I know, Reminds me of that time Obama and Clinton lost 6 trillion, I know 6 trillion is only a small amount compared to 1 billion, but still. How do you manage I wonder..?
those cunning homeless, they've found a way around property tax.
Wtf is America anymore...
I know right. We need to make America great again. 🇺🇸 #Trump2k16
+Farooq Akhtar His going to deport Muslims he don't like you're kind
Brian Brian lol.
The best way NOT to do that, is vote Trump.
The same it's always been. A place full of racist that for some reason think that this country belongs to them because their ancestors committed genocide on the natives.
8:54 Oh my God, Stephen KILLED me with that line 😂 😂 😂
I think the most impressive thing there is that Colbert actually got that horn to play a G AND a Perfect 5th above it.
... Then again it was probably tuned beforehand or something but FUCK it I can dream!
I'm not sure, the trumpetist seemed genuinely impressed. So it might be real.
He might have had time to practice if the bit was decided a while ago.
Can one actually tune a Ram's horn?
It's the harmonic series--the horn could have played an octave below the first G as well, but nothing in between. He knew which note to tell the trumpet player, who probably bent his note to match better anyway. Still a great moment.
+chs75 "Can one actually tune a Ram's horn?"
Yea, you just have to twist it a bit more.
A poor person not paying taxes is someone living off the government.
A rich person not paying taxes is a genius.
Makes sense.
smh
When a woman claimed Trump was a business man, I said,"We'll be lucky if he doesn't bankrupt our country" Unfortunately, he did his best to do what I predicted. Raising the national debt to benefit the wealthy is disgraceful!
I was in the audience for this episode - loved it. He's as funny off camera as he is on. Love you Stephen!!
If not paying taxes is genius, I say we stop doing it, too. After all, who doesn't like being a genius?
How did he think save 50 million by losing 0.9 billion is smart
That is terribly stupid
Miquib he didn't have to pay taxes for 18 years for a loss he threw on the casinos lap it really didn't affect trump
John Betbabadabingbadaboom ur an ass
+John Betbabadabingbadaboom smart guy but still wants to deport illegal mexicans that dont pay taxes because theyre hurting the country.... oh wait
"Haven't the jewish people suffered enough?" :)
"Dunno, maybe as much as others, just saying."
No they have not.
It's funny because you are either a great or an awful person depending on which comment you are responding to.
come on man, I just quoted Stephen's joke. take it easy :)
John Doe 878393719 communist actually
Great opener Stephen! Always great material. Thank you for keeping us sane
Man, I love this show. You should really get this quality of comedy more than just once a week ... :s
(Thanks to all of you for the good laughs you gave me and all the other ones watching this!)
I think we all would....
Yada, yada, yada… $916 million loss for Trump.”
- _Donald J. Trump_
😀😀😀
Big league*
bigly, wtf
+David Bristow It sounds like he says "bigly", realizes it's not a word, and then tries to adjust by saying "big league" two or three times.
David Bristow "Bigly" is a word Trump has actually used in speeches. So perhaps you should direct your "WTF" to Mr. Trump.
He has been saying big league for years. Holy shit, Big league.
get it?
Big league.
Show me a clip of him saying "bigly"
Colbert has really taken charge of his show and made it his own!
my mom tells me that my grandfather was pissed at trump that time he declared bankruptcy for his own benefit and screwed all those employees over. i can only imagine how he'd feel if he were here today, now that he's the freakin' president.
I took a small Loan of a Million dollars, and I turned it into a negative BILLION dollar empire.
That's 100100% loss folks. GENIUS!
Stephen 'Savage' Colbert
He just ANNIHILATED Trump :D
I've noticed that Colbert's been getting his edge back
Makes me happy tbh
As the revenue in Trumps casinos *declined*, revenue in other Atlantic city casinos *grew*....and he's a *_"business genius"_*??
atlantic city is a shit hole. most of those casinos are bankrupt or looooosing money.
Done Lostme
1995 - 2005
YOY revenue growth (decline) of Atlantic City casinos
*Trump casinos = (0.11%)*
Other casinos = 1.98%
2005 versus 1995 revenue increase (decrease) of Atlantic City casinos
*Trump casinos = (1.05%)*
Other casinos = 21.70%
1995 - 2005 casino industry return on stock performance
*Trump Hotels & Resorts = (89%)*
Harrah's = 140%
Boyd Gaming = 280%
MGM = 430%
Dow Jones Casino Index = 160%
I ask again, where is this *_"business genius"_* the country keeps hearing about??
the Greatjon simple most of those casinos are international and not private.
i mean hillary and bill made 100's of millions doing literally nothing of value.
Ashish Patel The *revenue comparisons* are *only* the Atlantic City operations of Harrahas, Bally's, Caesars, etc.
the Greatjon interesting. tell me how many of their brands are in ac? on that list only borgata and harrahs are worth going to. trump was one of the first to invest heavily in ac before any of the others.
but im not gunna hold a guy that had like a handful of failed businesses when he has 100's of others that are successful.
That last line was so good! Can't believe they let you say that on tv now!
It takes a genius like Hillary to lose 33,000 Emails.
I don't think it makes it better suggesting that Trump lost $1B on purpose.
HMC7 I don''t think it makes it better by saying deleting those Emails was a "mistake".
it's 'genius' that he avoided taxes over 18 yrs because of a huge loss. what a 'genius'
zaak186 It's genius that Democratic administrations have allowed his actions to remain perfectly legal.
Sloth from The Goonies You're right, but I'm not the one saying her deleted emails were a 'mistake'. I don't think they were. But this definitely wasn't. The business expert lost $1B....on Casinos...
Would anyone be surpised if Colbert vanishes when/if Trump wins?
Icelandic Potato why Colbert is the helping him win every time he and the media show him in their show it spreads awareness for him their are people in Canada who thought he already won because of how much media attention he was getting
Lol I'm in Canada and trust me, we are very aware of what's going on in this election. We are all watching very closely and fearfully.
Same here in Mexico, not because we would care about mexican immigrants coming back, we are affraid to all the people in US affraid of Trump to come to Mexico to ask political asylum.
we have a whole island set aside for US political refugees.

Not possible. The electoral college picks the president, not the general population.
You know, it really gets me how Trump supporters are making ridiculous statements with no evidence, and then calling anyone who disagrees with them (often with evidence) uninformed. I mean, how hypocritical can you get?
Oooooooo dam Steve your on fire you slammed it with that last one 😂😂
Oooohhhh SNAP!!! Wow ! You , mr Colbert, are a national treasure. [and your timing is so spot on-perfect!]
Trump is out of his mind, it is not funny anymore claiming he is genius for not paying tax is stop and unpatriotic.
I'm not a US citizen, but boy, even I'm a bit scared to see Trump[et] as president. God bless America after election.
He lost a billion... and had a 50 million cut for 15 years... how much does that add to anyway?
*18 years
It adds up to 900 million, or 16 million less than he lost, before you factor in inflation and interest rates.
IFWT94 I'm sorry but wouldn't buying a guitar for $250 and selling it for double its price of $500 make you a profit of $250?
busorenkin55 god damn it, you are absolutely right haha. Thank you, I'm shot. I meant buying the guitar for $500 then selling it for $250.
6:08 Colbert doing an impersonation of Hannibal Lecter saying my name is one of the funniest yet creepiest things I've ever heard in my life😆😖
Colbert has been getting funnier 😂😭
I don't think anyone is saying he's a genius for losing a billion dollars so much as he's smart to then take advantage of that mistake and basically cover that loss in not having to pay taxes.
Thank you good sir for this brilliant insight!
What is this man doing to your judgement?
and i do not think that it is a mistake, this loophole is left with purpose. in europe there is a safeguard to prevent this shit.
THE ENDING... 😱 It just fits the TrumpTapes perfectly?
Can I take back what I said of Jon Batiste? He's a good guy, I'm sorry.
God I love watching these videos in the morning while eating breakfast. Great way to start my day
Love this guy, keep up to good work
I think Trump doesn't know what third world country means.
Indeed, though to be fair, uneducated people make the same mistake constantly. In the back of mind I want Colbert to make a joke about it, but then I realize it's such a commonly misunderstood term that it would be hard as hell too make it funny.
Grover Asylum
I think you just hit the nail on the head. "Uneducated people" should not be running for POTUS.
Does Donald trump even know the meaning of a third world country????
Shimon Perez was a monster and a war criminal. Only hell awaits that man.
Omg! Love this Man! He nails Trump perfect every time.
Oh, Bill and Barrack how we miss you.😘😘😘😘😘🇨🇦
The last statement is a mic drop.
If Trump knows "our complex tax laws better than anyone," then why is he constantly audited???
once you have a certain net worth the IRS will audit you ever year. it's normal.
What is not normal is lie about it and pretend it means you cannot release your tax-returns from other years.
Zarkow he never lied about the loss. it was in his book that he wrote. and yes he isnt allowed to release them because he is being audited. if the irs had anything on him believe me we would all know.
Ashish Patel
To claim he cannot release his old tax-returns is a LIE. If you don't know this, then you are either ignorant or a shill. You can double-check it with IRS even.
Ashish Patel
More proof you are an idiot. Your tax-returns are not things being audited, they are decisions by the IRS already approved. Trump is refusing to release anything, but only his actual accounting is being audited, not anything else. Drumph-voter found.
Allright Illuminati we get it, you're real, you've had your laugh. Sorry for ignoring you. Now get rid of Trump it's not funny anymore.
The last line was the mic drop...just love it.
lmaooo I love Stephen Colbert!! Thanks for the laughs :)
I came here for the comment, i didn't even bother watching the video
You mean all the "go trump 2k16" and "killary" comments and just shitting on Colbert?
The letter "k" stands for thousand, so effectively, you're saying two-thousand sixteen.
It's just so unnecessary to type, it's still the same amount of character and I don't think it's any easier to type xD
FML
when he says the U.S. is becoming a third world cpuntry.....I laugh
Donald is visionary!
"Donald you left out all the nouns"---could be applied to everything Donald says.
Whoever released those tax returns is a patriotic American hero.
So what actually do the musicians do on his show?
Play music
Pretty sure they play a song right after his opening monologue while they get set up for the next bit, but he never posts their performances to RUclips.
and talk show bands generally play during the commercials to keep the live audience entertained
They're in charge of the musical aspects, the bits that require instruments.
They do the same as most musicians on every late night show. play music for the audience before the show starts, and during commercial breaks.
Most of the time the show is not live on TV , so that one hour you see on TV could have been 2 hours.
Even Reagan had more class...
Warren Buffett has done the same thing....since when do comedians have business degrees
Sure, but Warren Buffet has donated the money he saved and pledged to give away at least 50% of his wealth to charity.
He gave his wealth to Bill Gates.
but is he running for president dumbass??
In fact they named a proposed tax law after him. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffett_Rule
He does not however, publicize his taxes, so we don't know his actual tax rate. Save for when he said he pays less than his secretary.
Why can't I find a decent enough reference of Rudy Giuliani as the Penguin from Batman? I thought this was the internet!
Shots fired all over the place. That last one must've been painful. I love it. Keep it up, Colbert.
$50 millions over 18yrs equal to $900. So trump still lose at least $16 millions. He so so good at math!
maybe
Trump didn't lose any of that 900 some million on the Casinos. That was all investor money that he claimed was his. The first rule of being rich is that you'll never get richer by spending your own money, so spend other peoples' money instead.
First rule of a being a magot
He still made millions while others got fucked. Socialism for me, capitalism for thee.
He lost some personally since that saudi guy bailed him out. I agree that he mostly 'loved to play with other peoples money'.
come on.. he lost the billion in the BEST way... no one has ever lost money so amazing. It was a YUGE amount.. that was invested by the most tremendous projects, but they failed.. cuz they are losers and took hes best amazing tremendous yuge amount of money.. Come on.. Hes the best :D
At Trump Casinos everybody wins card counting not needed
Lmao "people go out to get bread, they get shot!" uh..... 😂
Oh my land, thanks for the laughs!!!
So he is going to block it and lose money. HA! He truly is good at selling BS.
Tay Sachs Block what?
Member berries
I'm so tired of these political parties dividing the citizens. There needs to be a disbandment of the current government and decisions need to be based in the people's favor, voted by the people. Why do we elect officials to make decisions for us when it's so obvious they're doing it for themselves
Colbert is on fire right now
I gotta say, I'm just happy to be able to watch Colbert do what he does.
Boy is really milking Trump's name out for views on his show
A huge trump story broke, you expect him not to talk about it?
Tump is really milking Trump's name out for votes on his run.
Except he is hiding the fact that he hasn't paid federal taxes in 20 years. That's so damning that he will never be president.
Yeah umm so is everyone dumbass
yup, that's the point of these shows... to milk out what is hot right now.... why does everyone forget what a show is? there made to make money, and trump makes them money
Stfu idiot!
Trump owns 500+ businesses and only 7 had chapter 11 bankruptcy. That's what? 98% success rate? Not to mention he is a billionaire. If that doesn't make him successful then idk what does
Paul Ignatchukkk give them a million fucking dollars and ANYONE can be a successful businessman.
being a billionaire doesn't mean success if it is inherited like in the Trump family same goes for other billionaire families. The grand father builds an imperium and the kids and grand kids slowly break it a part, lose money or 916 billion and eventually go broke. The story of the Trump ancestors is very interesting and remarkable with a smart business man that knew what he was doing but what remains is a sad story.
The fact that they media doesn't want me to like trump, makes me want to like trump ..
SMH
It depends on which media outlet you watch. Judging by your comment it's probably Fox News XD
Wow so you're admitting that you're a simple minded ignoramus?
Jesus H. Christ! Colbert, I'm flabbergasted. You're hands down my most favorite person ever :D
While everyone else points out something about trump I would like to point out, when asked "my goodness, john have you ever smelled a dead ram"' john replied with "yea".
You know last nights episode of the Late Show with Stephen Colbert was one on of its absolute best shows so far. I just wanted to say that.
"Donald you left out all the nouns" 😂😂😂
"Donald, you left out all of the nouns." lol
😆 😄 😂 Just saw this today. Thank you RUclips recommend!
The hypocrisy is without bounds.
OOOOOHHHH!!!! SHOTS FIRED!!
Bill, Bill get your ass up here :D
This was hilarious. Shots fired!
Good God, Stephen's last statement made me drop my phone.
Every time I think this election couldn't possibly get more embarrassing for the American people... somehow it does.
loved the Hannibal impression... lol
Oh that was the most beautiful burn!!!!! Lmao! !!!! That's gunna sting lol!!!!!!!! Yay Stephen!!!
Wooow. Well done again. My goodness.
If he knows the tax law so well, then I'd like to hear him quote the statute that made it possible to write off his near billion dollar loss.
Colbert for president!! 🤓👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
