And then wondering why they didn't turn out 'better.' I think that the older generation should be embarrassed by the world that they have created. The kids are now born into an ecosystem that is collapsing due to abuse and exploitation. They have a heavy burden to bear, in addition to just being kids

    2 years Nicotine free. 730 days. 17,520 cigarettes not smoked. $6,307 saved. Thanks to The Easy Way to Stop Smoking by Allen Carr. It wasn't EASY, but it was by far my EASIEST quit. And my longest quit after 13 years of smoking an average of a pack a day. Had maybe 8 or 9 cravings my first year. Can't remember my last craving. I am a happy non-smoker.

  • @Morra5472
    @Morra5472 Год назад +7

    Everything he's saying is 100% true. Once Nicotine controls your life, it will impede everything. Anxiety, stress, boredom, concentration, restlessness, etc etc.... 8 years free from Nicotine from being an addict for close to 30 years, and grew up with cigarette smoking parents and in a time where you could smoke anywhere... Airplanes... Dentist offices etc.. , i just have to tell you... It is the absolute best thing that you can do for yourself.
    It got so bad for me with anxiety and the constriction in my legs, i had to almost undergo surgery. Because cigarettes were doing havoc in my body. I had leg pains for years from just standing some days. After i stopped little by little i started to regain my health to where i dont have almost any leg pain at all. The damage is still there but hopefully it will go away. One thing to remember vividly, is how it controls your quality of life. And how you will stink from it.
    Nicotine is a drug. And you are a drug addict. But you can stop it. Others have done it before you. You can as well.
    And for the record who can afford it anymore?.... 15 Euros per pack?.... Dont think so... But even if it was a cent per pack i would never put that filth in my body again! Never!
    Good luck.

    I was proper chain smoking one lovely summers day, I was in the garden and had just lit my fourth cigarette in a row from the end of another and that’s when it hit me “what the hell am I doing” it was that moment I decided I wanted to stop. A family member had the book and gave it to me to read it was about two weeks after I had read it that I woke up and didn’t feel the need to light up and haven’t ever since. 12 years smoke free for me.

    When i quit a few years ago this helped me. I was so uptight when i quit, felt i was going through trauma. He said, its really not that bad... and i got that it was almost all in my head. Its like dont think of pink elephants, dont scratch your arm all day: then you are dying to do so. But you dont really want to... you’ve just become ocd about it. I have the same skills as when i smoked. Except i AM far more relaxed now that i dont have a one hour timer starting again after every cigarette. I respect myself more which makes me not want to punish myself by smoking. Im telling you, smoking is nothing. Its a tiny itch that you’ve become obsessed about.... its not even very itchy.

    Thanks to this man and his book, I quit a life long wretched habit, I remember flicking away my last cigarette, mashing it under my shoe and knowing with absolute certainty I'd never smoke again. There were some failed attempts but it was like the other attempts were just getting me to that place. It's almost hard to believe I ever smoked, I could care less about it now. It's not about giving up, it's about reclaiming independence. Thanks again to this man and his book. Just a thing to ponder, I was disappointed to find many years later that the two people who'd recommended his book to me had taken up the habit again. It's not a magic book.

    I just posted this comment on Reddit to someone who is struggling after smoking for 30+ years:
    I quit in February after more than 20 years, something I once thought was impossible. Listening to Allen Carr and venting in this sub truly helped me. Once I understood that it's an addiction to nicotine and it takes 3-4 weeks then the withdrawal symptoms will fade away, I was thinking of those weeks first. Once I got there, I kicked the addiction. Now, I have no urges and I don’t even vape, take any nicotine or do anything harmful to my lungs. When I see smokers or smell smoke, I just walk past quickly. No judgment, just empathy. I actually feel sorry for them. It might sound silly, but I take a deep breath through my nose, exhale through my mouth, and remind myself, ‘My lungs deserve this fresh air!’
    This short video (posted on RUclips 17 years ago) from Allen Carr also helps me a lot. There’s a part where he’s sitting at his table, and it feels like he’s speaking to me from the afterlife. (PS: Rest in paradise, Allen. You’re still helping millions on this planet-we owe you big time).

    This is absolutely spot-on. Don't think about reasons why you should stop smoking, think about reasons why you should continue and you'll realise there aren't any. My quit date was 8th December 2023, I chained half a pack on a night out and it made me feel ill - wouldn't do it again if you paid me.
    I did a bit of Googling the day after. Turns out, having a cigarette doesn't really help you relax, it just takes away the withdrawal symptoms of not having a cigarette. A big part of the relaxation you're getting really just comes from stepping outside for some peace and quiet, you can do that for free and you'll be better for it.

HOWEVER; I don’t appreciate being lied to about “barely nothing “withdrawal symptoms. I didn’t get any sleep last night, was sweating profusely and feel like I have a fever/flu symptoms. Definitely worth going through to be free of smoking, and only tolerable because of the mindset and information learned in the book, but I feel gaslit, and lied to about there not being physical withdrawals. I am absolutely experiencing withdrawal symptoms.( I have gone through withdrawal from other drugs before, and while this is mild compared to opioid withdrawal, it is not “hardly noticeable “, as Allen said over and over in the book.

    Here's the kicker... THIS DOESN"T JUSTY APPLY TO SMOKING! It applies to all addictions. Addiction to anything lines up perfectly with his descriptions. Whatever it is you're fighting. Alcohol, Cigs, Weed, Pornography, Fast food, etc. just know they all apply to this method. You gain nothing from continuing, you gain everything from quitting. You're not making a sacrifice, but rather taking back your life. If it's hard it not because you crave it, but rather that you believe you're giving up a good in order to get another good. That is not true. You always give up bad for good, and when you realize that you'll never go back to what it was that hindered your life to begin with. What a wonderful video and the actual idea surrounding the breaking of addiction. God Bless you all in your journey.
