This has been so inspiring. I haven't smoked for nearly three months now. I still get the odd craving, even after all this time. This video has put the urge to smoke, and the reasons not to smoke, into perspective for me. The Cigarette Whisperer makes really good sense and has probably saved, and will save, hundreds of lives.
Yeah here in Canada it used to say on the cigarette packs "smoking is more addictive than heroin or cocaine." And I thought yeah right, whoever said that clearly hasn't tried heroin. It's great at first but in the end you'll just be constantly trying to chase that dragon and you're not gonna catch it. You're tolerance will be so high after not long it will barely get you high anymore. It stops being fun fast but most people don't realize that in the begging and by the time they realize it, it is usually too late.
This is what is definitely needed a lot more for people with addiction issues. Instead of just saying over and over, "you need to quit" actually having someone working with you and not treating you like you're an idiot can be super beneficial because if it were easy to do, everyone who ever got hooked could easily quit but it's a process and I'm so glad he's on his way again to getting healthy. This is one time in life where it's a good thing to quit!
I'm 54 and have been smoking for about 20 years straight. I've noticed on mondays at work after smoking all weekend. I'm very anxious and depressed. almost suicidal.

I’m going on day 3 nicotine free so I’m at peak withdrawal stage. I’ve needed a nicotine fix for the last 5 years or so. It’s an overwhelming feeling, the best way I can describe it is that my brain feels thirsty and my head feels pressured. It’s difficult but not impossible to get through. I’ve been dealing with the urge for nicotine by doing push-ups, chewing on straws, snacking, etc. I’m hoping it gets easier soon. Watching these videos helps keep me motivated
I'm very proud of you Amro! Quiting anything addicting is really hard so mad respect for you as you're continuing to get those little victories everyday!
I think the note on the pack, knowing that you don’t have to quit and knowing that going without is better than putting up with smoking, is the most powerful thing here.
It wasn't easy for me to quit smoking. I quit everyday for 2 years. I used to think I am in control of my addiction, but I didn't realise how wrong I was. I would throw away almost full packs kto convince myself that I've quit) just to buy a pack again the next week. I quit almost two years ago and I quit abruptly (rather than follow my planned "slowly lower your intake plan"). I decided one day that I had had enough and that I wasn't the strong person I thought I was. Been a hard journey but I can already see the benefits and the change in my life. My message to anyone trying to quit smoking - Don't fool yourself by thinking you can quit. Just quit. That's the only way. Everting else is an excuse.
Cowfeed Russians are genetically predisposed to drink alcohol because of the climate. In the harsh winter months Russians would drink alcohol to keep themselves warm.
That's very true. A lot of the time for me it's the fact that I don't have any that makes me crave it more. Once I know I have some, everything is ok again.
I've always quit cold turkey this way. I always have a pack of cigarettes and when i told people this, they always looked at me like i was insane. My biggest issue with quitting was not having any and wanting to head out to the shops for more so i figured, why not keep some around and that way im doing it because i want to rather than because i have to
I started doing physical exercises in a moderate pace and when I had built bit of physical endurance foundation, I than quit cold turkey and started to take my training up a notch and that made me feel real good. I was exercising, not smoking and automatically started to eat proper which helped in dealing with withdrawal symptoms. Another important thing I did was to stop socializing because I knew that it would trigger me to smoke. I had to distance myself from my close mates and the ones who cared for me understood my reason. Exercise, eat healthy and no socializing for 3 months was how I managed to beat the addiction. After 3 months, you will have bit of craving when you start socializing but you will be scared to smoke and after 6 months, you will no longer have any cravings.
Engie - Gaming I thought it was because for a video to be monitized and for you to get paid for it, the video had to be minimum 10 mins. So I didn’t get why people got mad if it was 10 mins like.. it’s their job haha

Oooh this video got recommended to me after 2 years of my quitting. I stumbled upon this 2 years ago, made the card for my pack and forgot about this video altogether until today! (I was a smoker for a 1.5 years b4 quitting) Thanks a lot BuzzFeed! ❤️
When I quit smoking cigarettes (15 years) I always kept a pack of cigarettes on me for the first month. it was important to know I wasn't smoking despite the option to do so at all times.. Haven't smoked since. It's been 8 years.
Here’s my advice for you if you are planning to quit cigarettes, never meet your smoker friends or visit the cafe and restaurants where you loved to smoke for atleast 2 or more weeks. Note : I am a former smoker and this worked for me.
Agreed. I'm off work for a week so i can avoid the smokers. Ended up smoking 4 cigs in 20 mins on breaks, everyday. Absolute joke and so unnecessary, on day one and managing fine so far. Have quit cold turkey about 4 times, would always recommend not drinking and steering clear of other smokers until you're more confident you can avoid lighting up
@@firdewsmohammed4786 Try to go on a short vacation of 1 or 2 weeks or tell your friends you’re trying to quit smoking and tell them not to smoke infront of you for sometime and encourage them to quit too , I hope this helps.
I have been smoking for 5 years.I quit it on 1st of dec 2021.....it was only possible after i watched this video....this idea of keeping pack with you and not smoking is amazing......somewhere you know that it's not any good for you, however you still do it. Only one thing you need to do is stop associating with every feeling with cigarette. You don't need ro smoke to express yourself. It doesn't need to accompany in your ups and down in life, you only need to change your perception about it
And since the urges never fully go away I teach people how to use those urges as the way to stop smoking instead of always trying to fight, ignore or deny those urges. Wishing you the bes.t Rocky
I’m in recovery, an ex smoker and I still have dreams where I drink and smoke at least twice a week, makes me crave quite bad 🤦♀️ thanks brain. Congratulation on 3+ years!
I quit cold turkey 9 years ago with not a single puff since. Prior to that I'd smoked 10 - 35 per day for around four years. The trick is to never let yourself slip even once, then it becomes a habit. But I'll be honest, I still get cravings sometimes even nine years later.
@@rajapusapati1 Compared to the cravings right when you quit, yeah they're very insignificant. Kind of in the same vein as the "have a pack on you at all times" I still like to go stand outside with friends when they're smoking and chat just like I did when I smoked. That social component of smoking was something I really missed when I quit and I found that I could still have that as long as I remained steadfast and didn't cave in around them.
Interesting! yeah i heard that you can "never" quit smoking, you just can stop smoking for many decades but you will always have that cravings even after many many years
i have 5 ciggeretes left in my pack right now - going to stop compelty after not going to buy another pack - i quit once for a year when i was 17 i know it can be done :$

Because people are still making money. Cannabis is only legal in some states because it makes money. Companies don’t care about what it does to people, whether it’s good or bad, they want your money.
Before retirement I helped many of my patients quit tobacco, so it's important to keep in mind the need to SLOWLY STOP smoking. To reduce the cravings, its necessary to actually commit to smoking one less cigarette per MONTH. Cold turkey completely denies your bodies addiction, while tapering down will NOT elicit cravings to a great deal.
I’ve done literally every drug in the book, I use to be addicted heroin, oxy, xanax, but the one drug I can’t stop is nicotine. I call cigarettes “sober sticks”. And I also call them “cancer sticks”
I don't smoke or do drugs but I visited a young adult rehab home over the holidays. There were recovering addicts of all sorts of drugs. Yet most of them were smoking or vaping 24/7 (it's allowed there), it's crazy that they're able to get off hard drugs but still can't give up nicotine. Don't take too much offense to the negative comments, it's a work in progress and I'm glad you got out of worse drugs. Best of luck to you!
@@cdy everyone is slowly killing themselves if they don't do the required cardio, exercise, healthy eating etc. Nicotine is one of the few drugs where it is a mild stimulant comparable to caffeine and also causes some euphoria from the "buzz". We actually talked about carrying a substance you're addicted to in my recovery management class. Of course it's not advised for everyone but I carried a razor blade with me to quit cutting and it worked. Now I don't carry one anymore. Next level introspection

@@我愛煮食 fine, i just don´t want to smoke anymore, i just don´t need it
I started doing physical exercises in a moderate pace and when I had built bit of physical endurance foundation, I than quit cold turkey and started to take my training up a notch and that made me feel real good.

It is the hardest "drug" to quit!
