    I wanted to know, what are the BEST ceiling speakers that I can buy, for the CHEAPEST amount?!
    This video is NOT "what are the cheapest speakers", because at about $300~$400 per PAIR they are not cheap. But compared to other high end speakers, the price for the Soundavo speakers are steal (almost half the price from the $800~$1000+ range speakers) with similar material, spec and design!
    This video is more like... what are the BEST speakers, at the cheapest price. With the Soundavo IC-860CF 8 inch speaker coming in at under $200 per each (less than $400 per PAIR) , and the 6.5 inch Soundavo IC-640CF at just around $300 per PAIR. I think I have found them..
    Perfect for your whole home audio application, OR definitely even your theater surround sound. You will not be disappointed, give them a try and let me know what you think in the comments. Soundavo's engineering team has been hard at work this year, and they have some truly amazing products, that have blown me away.

    I purchased Soundavo after following this video. I got IC-860CF for my home completely. Honestly, I would say they are good speakers for the price range and the build quality is better but nothing too exceptional where I would say, they can replace Martin Logan or something on that level. I went to Magnolia in bestbuy to listen to different speakers for the price range and definitely I can feel the difference compared to Soundavo. But they are definitely bang for the buck.

    I ordered these speakers and they arrived a few days ago. I am in the middle of construction and reached out to Soundavo over a week ago about pre-construction brackets that would work with these speakers and still haven't heard back from them. I am a little surprised they did not get back to me on this because I thought their products were mainly used in commercial settings before selling straight to the public. I ended up just making custom brackets out of extra plywood I had laying around. These were meant to go in my garage for left and right speakers, spaced about 8 to 10 feet apart. I was impressed with the clarity, but a little disappointed in the bass output, but overall, I think they are great speakers. I ended up moving them to my front covered porch because I discovered I want 2 single stereo ceiling speakers that each have 2 tweeters instead because I don't want to only listen to a L or R channel when hanging out sitting on one side of the garage (just my personal preference). These sound great on the front porch. Will be awesome when all the Xmas inflatables are up in the winter, and playing Xmas music in the background. So far so good, just hope they hold up over time!

      Just staple a fat strip of cardboard at each future ceiling speaker spot above/between the horizontal framing studs. Run your power/data cables to each future speaker location and coil about an arms length extra above each stapled cardboard temporarilly. Poke a hole in the middle of the cardboard and leave the ends of the coiled wires hanging down an inch or two in the center of the cardboard so it won't interfere later with installing/painting the ceiling/sheetrock. Take pics/update master blueprint: don't forget where you prepped each speaker location or you'll end up doing a lot more work. After the ceilings are installed/finished, simply cut a speaker sized hole in the proper speaker spot and bam theres your wires. Install bracket/tighten speaker clamp feet and with your best Australian accent whisper "That'll do, pig," as you slide the ceiling speaker cover/grill in place cause you are now a pro installer. (Tip: Do Not paint the speaker cover mesh screen with that thick matching leftover bucket paint. Does'nt matter if you use a paintbrush or roller, it'll probably clog all the thousand perforated holes and that's a real headache to fix or replace.)

      I'm still very happy, I know several others have emailed me as well. Brands like soundavo and Dayton audio will probably never get the "brand name" recognition as all of the major label companies would. But soundavo and Dayton are engineered very well and priced differently because they aren't a brand name label.

    I just moved and left the 5 micca speakers in the ceiling, which I absolutely hated to do. I also had a polk audio floor subwoofer connected with the pioneer vsx 1022 receiver. In my personal opinion the sound was amazing!!! Every piece of sound was crystal clear. I swear many times I had to look around to make sure no one was behind me or if watching sports it sounded like the fans were sitting in the seats with me. I am purchasing the same speakers for my new home because I loved the sound so much. If they have an upgrade to those speakers maybe I will purchase the upgrade but I'm definitely sticking with the same brand. I may get a different receiver. For some reason my receiver just goes to mute on its own and I have to keep hitting the volume button every now and then to get the receiver off of mute. Overall these speakers paired with my poke audio subwoofer gave me more than enough sound to the point where my wife would complain because it sounded like war was going on especially when I played call of duty in my basement and when watching movies all I can say is wow! I definitely recommend these speakers but paired with my Polk audio subwoofer was the icing on the cake. The only difference is my old house had a drywall sealing and my new house has a drop ceiling. I hope it doesn't change the sound because the sound at the old house was fantastic! Oh and for those wondering I did not have an atmos setup. It was a standard 5.1 surround sound setup five speakers in the ceiling 1 subwoofer on the floor and the sound was amazing to me.

    • @TheKMZ1
      @TheKMZ1  3 года назад +1

      @@bosoxkid2 I have 2 little ones as well. You could stream 2 things wirelessly, then the soundavo has 4 remaining source inputs. They are 2 RCA inputs, 1 3.5mm and then either 1 more 3.5mm or digital optical, but not both. So the last source you can pick which one you want to use. So for your sake let's call it 2 rca input and 2 3.5mm. So you could either, use those and hook up an alexa for example, which is basically a wireless source because you can link your echoes and have it output through just the echo plugged into the amp, you could hook up any other 3rd party streaming device as a source into the rca or 3.5mm. if you have to, you can buy converters to convert the rca input into something different. You could make custom RCA cables from the amp, to a wall location like in the kitchen and then use a 3.5mm to rca aux cable to hook up phones, computers etc as a source. Basically you should be able to come up with some combination that you like because it's pretty flexible

    Metal tweeters are not necessary better then paper or even silk
    Metal is just cheaper now and that's why it's widely used in tweeters silk and textile tweeters are actually better and more accurate. Metal is actually harsh sounding but works and is cheap that's why it's used it's not necessary better. Pure aluminum tweeters are some of the best but you will hardly find pure aluminum used much any more because it's very costly

    The product page for these speakers says they’re “8 ohm (6 ohm minimum)”. I was just going to place a pair in parallel for one zone on the ws66i - which would make the amp run at 4ohm. Is that going to be an issue? Will the speakers overheat and burnout? Never seen a “minimum” before.

    • @TheKMZ1
      @TheKMZ1  2 года назад

      No you should be fine to run it at 4 ohms into your amp. The most universally accepted definition simply states that the minimum impedance should be no lower than 80% of the rated impedance, For an 8 ohm speaker, this means 6.4 ohms minimum and for a 4 ohm speaker 3.2 ohms minimum.

      For those reading this in the future. Speakers change impedance with frequency . This is the 8 / 6 / 4 Ohm rating of a speaker. You won't hurt the speaker but if you turn it up too high you might hurt the amplifier / receiver depending upon if it has a protection circuit or not. Wiring like you are suggesting is not usually a good idea for the life of the amp.

      Yes I'm still using them and I actually just ordered a new product from them as well that they showed at CEDIA 2022, their pendant speakers. Video to come soon. Brands like soundavo and even Dayton audio are cheaper because you aren't paying for a "name brand" like bose, jbl etc so naturally you don't see as much on them

      Unless you want to build a box, the next best thing is usually buying a shower cap with an elastic band, and you can slip the shower cap over the back of the speaker and it will prevent the insulation from actually touching the speaker. Cheap and easy!

      You are talking about the speaker terminals on these soundavo speakers? They are push down type with a hole in the side. So they are spring loaded, you push it down, stick your speaker wire into the hole on the side, and then let go and the pressure will pull back up and pinch the wire. If you are talking about another type of speaker let me know and i can describe! Thanks

      @@VisionForwardTechConnect oh gotcha, yeah those are green phoenix connectors, also called euro block connectors. They are in kind of an L shape. On the top of the connector are flat head screws, there are 4 of them. As you loosen the screws, it lowers a little door. So your loosen it all the way, then stick your speaker wire in, and as you tighten the screw, the door goes back up and pinches the wire and keeps it in there. 14 guage wire is about the thickest it will accept and you have to twist it tight otherwise as you push it in, the strands can come undone and it comes out of the connector or can short with the speaker wire next to it. That is a complaint with these connectors, is that the speaker wire is close together with all the others in that connector. You don't have to strip back much insulation for these because you don't really want much or any bare wire hanging out. Let me know if you have any other questions! Also make sure you put them in the connector the right order, it goes plus, minus for one speaker and plus minus for the other speaker. The back of the amp has it screen printed which one should be what, but that may be hard for you to see. I can describe it if you need help on what should be what.

    these speakers being 8ohm speakers that means you can only get 25W to each speaker? If so, that power seems a bit low don't you think?

    • @TheKMZ1
      @TheKMZ1  2 года назад +1

      Correct, the particular amplifier i'm using is 25w per speaker. I dont think it's low in my opinion. If we reference JL audios own publication jlaudio.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/217201737-Doubling-Power-vs-Doubling-Output and this is also written in many other places (so it's not a made up concept) but doubling power does not make it sound "twice as loud". So doubling power even to 50 watts per speaker would have subtle differences in the actual SPL levels heard by our ears. Yes it'd be a little louder but subtly. In my own experience with this amp that I'm using (since 2017) it can get more than enough loud. It can throw a party. Thanks for watching and for the comment!!

    • @TheKMZ1
      @TheKMZ1  2 года назад

      I think sonos has a good quality product. My issue is just the cost personally. I think they are over priced for what you get. For example, they have a whole home audio solution, and each amplifer is only 1 zone. So in a 6 zone system having 6 amplifiers is VERY expensive and a pain in my opinion to house 6 amps. This is just 1 example, they have other wireless options and for those, I just would prefer to not have speakers sitting on book shelves in the open (that is why i like ceiling speakers). I have a friend who has the wireless speakers from sonos, and they sound very good. But again it just comes down to someones preference on cost and the look of them. Hope this helps!!

    • @TheKMZ1
      @TheKMZ1  3 года назад

      Do not confuse the soundavo WS66i amp with surround sound. They are 2 very different things, and if you want surround sound you will need that kind of an amp. The WS66i is a whole home audio amp and does not do any kind of movie surround loading. You get left and right channels that is all.
