    If you had an open kitchen and dining area that was ~13' by 25' and wanted to do four speakers, how would you handle left and right? Do you arbitrarily pick a left and right side of the room? Do you criss-cross the left/right channels or run mono? It should be noted that the total room is 13' x 40', and there will be two more in-ceiling speakers paired with an Arc on the far end (separate zone), so my thought was maybe to let the left/right be determined based on if you were watching TV from the kitchen and dining area, but the reality is it'll mostly be ambient music playing here.

    Why not use the Sonos immersive theatre with the era 300s for the living room?

    You do a really great job of explaining elements that most would assume people already knew what you refering to- that the tweeter is the "smaller speaker" or what a vaulted ceiling is,etc- really apreciate your emphasis on communicating clearly.

    Thanks for the great video! What I don’t get is why Sonos didn’t make their ceiling speakers wireless... Being the leader in wireless audio it just doesn’t make sense!

      Great question, maybe this is something that will come in the future, similar to what Lithe Audio are doing or even a POE version.

    Would a single zone 70 volt commercial sound system be a good option for home use? Where there would be a single amp driving all speakers with volume dials in each room.

    What's your thoughts on lithe audio bluetooth speakers for a kitchen extension.. general music and TV hook up? Are they any good? Cheers

    • @smarthomesounds
      @smarthomesounds  2 года назад

      Yes, they certainly provide a performance you'd expect from higher quality ceiling speakers. They've got a good punch to them and they're dead easy to connect to day-to-day. They also have an RCA port for connecting up to a TV and there is minimal lag. This is a great way to save on cost of a wired amplifier. Hope this helps!

    I was looking at getting ceiling speakers but could I get some Sonos ones and mount them in the corners of the room? That way I don’t need to run cables everywhere. What do you think?

    • @smarthomesounds
      @smarthomesounds  3 года назад +1

      Hi Danny, yes we have seen some customers use Sonos Ones instead (providing you're using these for music only). You can get ceiling mounts for the One by Flexson and wall mounts that you can mount close to the ceiling too. It really depends on how much you value the discreet aesthetic of ceiling speakers and the extra work involved or if you would be just fine with Sonos Ones. I hope this helps!

    How about if you want to put speakers on a hallway? Whats the recommended speakers to use?

    • @smarthomesounds
      @smarthomesounds  3 года назад +1

      Hi there, as you won't be doing much active listening there, you'd only need a ceiling speaker for ambient background listening. For this purpose, the Monitor Audio C165s do really well for this sort of application due to their build quality and price point. I hope that helps!

  • @totalplonker824

    IMO Ceiling speakers are not the way to go... think about it when watching a movie how often do you hear audio come from above when one hears something from above it's usually off in the distance first so therefore will it be better to get height speakers!

    • @ferrisbuhler8866
      @ferrisbuhler8866 8 месяцев назад

      It depends on whether you want home audio for music or Atmos for home theater. Also depends on aesthetics vs. performance.

    • @totalplonker824
      @totalplonker824 8 месяцев назад

      @ferrisbuhler8866 I was actually commenting on the difference between in ceiling speakers and height speakers. However, aesthetics vs. performance is where it's at..

    Another outstanding video, thank you! I have 36 inches between the back of my couch and the wall which is a sliding glass door. I have vaulted ceiling also. I believe you mentioned installing the in-ceiling speakers as close to the wall as possible. How far behind the couch do you recommend installing in-ceiling speakers---is 30 inches too far?

    • @smarthomesounds
      @smarthomesounds  3 года назад +1

      Hi Josh, if you have space between the couch and the wall, I'd recommend not going any further than 6 inches from the back of the sofa. Hope that helps!

    Ceiling speaker is a total disrespect to the recording engineers who put all the effort to create stereo sound stage and imaging! Remember, musicians perform in front of you, not above your head.
