Its actually a really good thing that you didn't self destruct at beagle because how it works in odyssey is, upon death, you respswn at your spawn point the nearest star port or fleet carrier, which ever is closer. So because there were fleet carriers in system, you would have respond there, probably on the DSSA carrier. Also landing on a fleet carrier does set your spawn point om there.
In other words odyssey has done a great job of getting rid of the self destruction exploit and by doing that you would have caught a rebuy lost your data and still have to fly home from beagle point.

Made my journey and back a couple months ago when Odyssey first came out. I got excited with the exobiology addition and I wanted to know what lived near Beagle Point. Turns out not much lives out there. I'll revisit since more lifeforms are scattered around the galaxy, back then it was mostly bacteria and fonticulua.

When I went there in the first quarter of 2019, of course there were no fleet carriers. I don't remember if Explorer's Anchorage was there or not. But once done at Beagle Point, I never even considered self-destruct. I did the trip to get my Elite ranking, so I really needed that data. I went back to Sol via Colonia and sold my data there, then sold the Colonia to Bubble data at Jameson Memorial. All in all, I earned about 940 million credits, which awarded me with Elite Explorer. I've spent some time off and on this year thinking about going back there. I thought about taking my carrier, but it takes so much effort to gather tritium for it, I don't think it would be worth the hassle. But for now, I'm working on Elite Exobiologist and so I'm staying closer to home. As for you, safe home, Commander!

I don't like when people put no man sky elite and star citizen all in the same boat. You can throw things like star citizen, EVE, and Elite together because fundamentally they are all trying to be space Sims. Games such as no man's sky and Star field are completely different. One is trying to be a sci-fi open world rpg the other a sci-fi survival sandbox. They will incorporate some space sim mechanics that make sense, but at the end of the day that's not what they are.

Some in amazing systems with huge stars, black holes, neutron stars, water worlds, and earthlike worlds. diff types of gas giants. lots have mineable rings. Everthing the same? i think not. i have played NMS, and SC. not the same sense of real time scale. Even Eve Online seemed like a massive spreadsheet, with huge lists of figures to negotiate. I had the Fuel Rats rescue me 14000ly from Sol. Thats right In ED, you have to manage your fuel properly. I've seen whats available in SC. Hmmmm. NMS, comic book adventure.
