Will pick one up for sure...Have picked them all up to date, and will continue to support the game by doing so. Better use of funds than what I have wasted on Star Citizen to date. At least we have a game here.
@keysersozeh3576 I haven't played in a few years but all the ships I acquired were purchased with in-game currency. Did they start charging real money for ships?
I really didn't spend much time in a small ship, I'll give it a go. For speed and delivery to ground operations it might do the trick (if you don't need an srv). I love the new life to ED. There was a shift in planning and attitude in late 2023 that really made 2024 an amazing year for ED and the player numbers are trending up. Super job fdev. Keep it up. Lots of QOL improvements are happening that have been requested for years. It is refreshing.
You're sounding a lot better mate. I hope you're pretty much over that nasty cold. Sadly, as my finances are in quite the pinch I don't think I'll be able to get my hands onone of these beauties until it hits the shipyards in game. I'm reallylooking forward to getting one, too because I wasn't able to get my hands on a Cobra mk IV which I also really waned.
It would be a no brainer for Fdev to not provide any new ships to the game. At the end of the day, it's still a spaceship flying/combat/trading/exploration simulator. Customizing and engineering a ship, to me, is still the best part of the game. I would really like to see new large ships and maybe an imperial medium sized ship. Out of the four released this year, I think the best one for me is the Python MK2, because I like combat more than exploration. But the Mandalay is on par with it, because of its extreme versatility as an explanation ship and it's pretty damn good in combat too. Type 8 was a bit of a disappointment : best cargo ship in the game, but not much more. It's a ok miner ship that falls very short compared to a Python and to the miner kings themselves, the Type-9 and the mighty Imperial Cutter, which can mine pretty much anything and still use its class 4 hardpoint to defend itself. I think the cobra MK5 will be a very nice allround ship, that excels at nothing but it's good at everything. I would love to see new Federal and Imperial ships too, like a Clipper MK2 that's a medium sized ship focused on combat support (so still a step lower compared to the holy trinity of FDL, Mamba and Python MK2)
I have a mighty need, early access is a must. Thank you for always giving us the look we need at placements and all, you're doing the work most other channels won't and the quality is definitely telling about how much you put into this game.
Will absolutely be getting this when it comes out! Been really hoping for a small 3-seater! As far as the direction of the game goes, I can only hope that the extra arx sold for people buying ships encourages Frontier to continue this trend into 2025!

Great video, as always! One note, though: there is only a single class one optional internal. The other is for the planetary landing system. Effectively, there is only one available Class 1 optional internal. Thanks, as always!
I don't play much Elite at all any more and I haven't bought any new ships with actual cash, until now. This little ship is right up my street. Power Distributor will let it boost more often than the last cobra, the weapon spacing is improved for fixed guns and it looks sexy. I really just want better missions in Elite above all else. Dear Frontier, put a dedicated team on improving the mission templates, scope, cinematics etc.
The increased speed in SCO likely will mainly come from having a class 4 FSD instead of the 5 all the other SCO natives have had. A fun feature of the SCO drives is that they get faster the lower class they are, making the sidewinder with class 2 SCO FSD one of the fastest ships in the game for SCO, for example.
As always, Great vid. My thanks to you Cmdr Burr and to those that assist you. Can't forget about those in the background. The revamped Cobra looks great and of course i'll be getting one.

You’re right, the SCO native is a definite game changer, I use the Mandy , Type 8 and Python Mk2 ..This small ship will make a perfect addition. I have arx saved for next week..thanks Burr Fam 👍
Fantastic detailed break down for the Cobra MkV coupled with gorgeous videography as usual from Cmdr Rheeney. To answer your question on whether I will be be buying the early access version of this beauty all I can say is do bears poop in the woods. I bought all the others on release day and this stunning variant will be no different. What a year we've had!
I've picked up the Python Mk2 and the Mandalay so far in early access, but this by far is the most exciting ship to come out in 3310! This will be the best Odyssey dropship for up to 3 squadmates to go ground missioning with, being able to take the landing pad of any settlement regardless of size. And if it runs into any trouble, it will clearly be able to zip away both in sublight and SCO. Good stuff, expect Black Widow Cobra Mk5s to be out there soon!
Wow that is one pretty triangle. This is really starting to get my hopes up for my dreams of Viper Mk 5... just a cockpit and two massive engines. I have a need...
my mk3 is my favorite ship. my every day driver if you will. Use it mostly for exo bio carrier based exploration. This will most certainly be my new ship. Lots of hype over the mandalay, but for me, this is way better. I dont need 70+ LY jump range because i have a carrier.
Ill be paying premium price for this one not only because I think its a very usable and great looking ship, but also because Fdev have been doing great work this year to pump some fresh blood into Elite! o7 commanders!
Have not bought any of the others in early access but for this one, I think I might. I used to do a bit of rare goods trading back when it paid well, and the Cobra V looks ideal to get back into that game, especially with the power play updates.
Will definitely pick one up in early access to support the game, my plan is to also use it for all ground activities as many other comments have mentioned.

Not sure I’m in love with the kit. Definitely will be getting the ship in early access. Any word on what the specs are for the pre-engineered 30+ ArX version?
With a completely stripped down Mk. 5, can you reach below the weight of the Mk. 3? You could perhaps use G5 dirty drag EPT then, for racing purposes only

I CANNOT wait to pick one of these up in early access. I can easily see this becoming my favorite ship!
Yup, me too
alrighty..i just got a question to the devs though....are they giving SCO to APEX shuttles though? the things could use it...
Why 3 seats? I assume it doesn't have SLF so there's only pilot and gunner roles.
Great video, and I appreciate the early access details. Many of us explorers are interested in a side- by- side between the new Cobra and a DBX... What are your opinions?
From some angles the Mk V reminds me of the X-302 from Stargate SG-1
Not sure I’m in love with the kit. Definitely will be getting the ship in early access.
Any word on what the specs are for the pre-engineered 30+ ArX version?
Any idea if there is going to be a mk2 vulture? Love that ship for combat
With a completely stripped down Mk. 5, can you reach below the weight of the Mk. 3? You could perhaps use G5 dirty drag EPT then, for racing purposes only
I'd like to take in to the black as an explanation ship
I already had my ARX bought. I have bought each standard ship at $12.99
3:26 Okay, now that's cool!
