Me too girl! And, I really think these guys need a girl to throw in some opinions sometimes..., like when they kept saying they thought it was odd that she had so many shampoos, but it’s really not.... not to me anyways... I have 3 different shampoos in my shower right now. I use head and shoulders once a week, dove for normal days (I love the smell) and then an anti frizz shampoo (I forget the brand) for humid days.... plus, if I color my hair, that adds two more lol, one for color protection and one for moisturizing... they don’t get that girls have different needs when it comes to our hair and it involves LOTS of products! 😉

Meredith Pase no photo I ever saw of her gave me the impression that she was a high maintenance gal, especially with regards to her hair- which she usually wore pulled back ( as I did for 3 years during my nurse training). She was one of those lucky people whose face suited that severe ‘hair scraped back’ style.
I think the guys are right about the messy car and how stuff was probably accumulated over a long time.
As for the snacking, the whole thing about pickles/weird combinations is more associated with latter pregnancy. She didn’t appear pregnant, so if she was, it would be early- more associated with nausea, dry crackers and ginger. Retired nurse/midwife and mother pf 3 here ☺️

Maura was not just another college student drinking and driving on February 9, 2004. She was a college student who the day before had been drinking when she crashed her father's car to the tune of $8,000 worth of damage. Maura had also been warned by a judge to stay out of trouble for six months or she would be prosecuted for credit card theft. If she's out drinking and driving again after all that she is out of control and has a reckless disregard for her life.

I have one theory on the pickles. It really hit me and I got this immediately. Maura was allegedly bulimic, which is something I believe considering the evidence and testimony of her famiy I have been bulimic for eight years. Whenever I go on a road trip I buy low calorie foods (sometimes even dill pickles) so that I don't feel like I have to purge it since I don't want to spend the energy/time purgeing at public restrooms along the way. Diet coke is also something I buy ALL THE TIME during road trips. So all that makes sense to me.

This episode reviews items in the car police initially did not consider evidence and returned to the family, so the chances of finding a smoking gun are small. The value of this episode is how it demonstrates a moment of genuine human compassion for the real person who went missing - something lacking in a previous episode where a struggling young woman was unconscionably labeled a sociopath.

I think she had been drinking while she was driving, so she wanted to avoid the police at all costs. Since there was no cell phone service where her car broke down, she tried to walk to the nearest town where she could make a call. She probably took a short cut through the woods, thinking that maybe she could make a call if she could reach a higher elevation. Once in the woods she got lost. While she was lost in the woods she made call after call hoping that one of the calls would go through. Eventually one of her calls got through to her boyfriend, but it only recorded a few seconds before it was dropped. She probably collapsed in the snow due to exhaustion and then later died from exposure. The only other scenario I can think of is that she knocked on someone's door close by and the people kidnapped her and killed her. The bus driver would have been suspect number one in my book. How do we know that she did not get on his bus? How do we know that his wife isnt as crazy as he is? How do we know that he didn't have her chained up in his basement? Did anyone search his home?

Someone on here commented that perhaps Maura was hit by a car after the accident. Perhaps by this ex cop who was shot? Maybe that was the thud the female witness heard (unless that was false info). Didn't the psychic mention Tom? I'm just trying to make connections. I do believe she hit the tree further down though based on Westman's account. If she did pass away, maybe she's much further away than the area she crashed in. Many many outcomes. Hope the family eventually gets the answers they want.

I'm glad you're managing to be more flexible about how you're viewing people, but I have to say, I'm still disappointed that you leap to conclusions so quickly and readily. IMO The proper course of action wouldn't have been to immediately label her a scorpion based on a bunch of speculation and then now modify your opinion because she had twizzlers in her car, but to abstain from judgment until you have sufficient CONCRETE evidence to support the conclusion. You only decided she was a scorpion because you failed to imagine a scenario where she was just a stressed out student in a rough patch, not because there was any sort of evidence suggesting that, out of all possibilities, it was most likely that she was a manipulative and toxic person.

I think the cops need to probe a little more around the spot her car was last seen. Interview all neighbors again, maybe even get a warrant to look around, because you never know. Small towns will also cover up cop activity or will just simply not believe if a cop happened to be the one to kidnap her-not unheard of.

And it was reported she withdrew $280 from her bank acct & paid for the liquor in cash. The HOW did LE know she had the Kahlua, Bailey's Vodka, Franzia, or whatever in the car with her? Did they SEE her puchase these items on the State Liquor Store surveillence camera??? How ELSE would they know w/o a receipt - even a debit card just lists the total of the purchase/it doesnt itemize. Such a sad episode because the items in her car are such a reminder of her just being a normal young woman in her college years. I had all these same items in my car when I was her age, prior to settling down, getting married, & having kids. I dont believe she ran away to commit suicide or even to start a new life. I think she went on vacation & had this wreck & someone harmed this beautiful young lady, that she was murdered.

I have never thought MM had a "dark side" or the accident was a result of some conspiracy. But I did get a kick out of how she was basically presented by the press and shows like "Disappeared" as a choir girl. Real life is always more complicated. MM's foibles may eventually explain why she was driving in NH on a weeknight when she should have been in school, but it does not explain what happened to her. To this extent I agree with Fred. The lack of extra clothes and underwear seems to indicatre either she took them with her or didn't bring any which would imply that she was not running away forever. Still interested in the Desolation Trail grid and its relation to the backpack sighting which was not that far away from there at the Pemigewasset Overlook.

Most likely explanation is that after the accident she freaked out about getting caught drunk driving and bolted away from the car on foot, into the woods, to hang out and wait for things to die down. We don't know how drunk she might have been so it was probably a drunken impulse (given the accident she was probably fairly intoxicated). She then got lost or confused on where she was, and ended up dying of exposure. She could have traveled many miles on foot through the night so died not close to the accident site. The body is probably out there somewhere and hasn't yet been found.

It's frustrating to me that people are criticizing you two for putting your safety first and calling off the hike. Whether or not the perceived threat was a valid threat, or whether the perceived threat was credible is entirely irrelevant. In my opinion, what you're doing could be dangerous. If Maura was murdered or taken, it stands to reason that the person who committed that crime would not want either of you poking around. It's also reasonable to assume that if that person were willing to murder Maura, they'd likely be willing to do whatever is necessary to keep you from finding any evidence. A healthy dose of paranoia would be smart, and to your benefit. To assume anything that transpired during the trip was mere coincidence would be *monumentally* stupid.
TL;DR - You did the right thing by walking away. Any sane person would have.

Unfortunately, this Podcast inherited all the controversy and "anger" created by Renner over the years but you knew that before you even got started. There are a lot of opinions regarding his treatment of Fred Murray and the unsubstantiated rumors he writes, just to keep people interested in his blog/book. His "sociopath" comment is a perfect example of how Renner distorts this case just to stir things up and keep his name relevant. You let Renner make statements like that on your Podcast and then you are surprised when listeners get upset? Really?
These are real people's lives you are talking about. How can you lecture people to be respectful of the Murray family when you continue to spread rumors and speculation about Maura and Fred, under the guise that you are "exploring all angles?" I think the anger you see is in response to the unnecessary exploitation and sensationalism of this missing case by people with an agenda. Many of us were hoping this Podcast would skip the Renner BS and just explore the facts of the case. Too bad that's not interesting enough for you.
So please tell us ..is anyone who disagrees with your approach now considered a "troll?" No debate is allowed on what you say on this Podcast without getting blocked?

It makes her seem more human and we are/we’re the same age. She has the same stuff a girl of that age and in that time would have. Also, I’m glad that someone finally realizes she was a pretty average girl for her age. Now all the trees right near the road have private property signs posted on them as I saw in someone's video. It's scary that now there are years worth of leaves and pine needles and she definitely could have been missed somewhere. Someone made the point that if she was suffering from hypothermia that she could have burrowed somewhere. I really hope she is somehow alive and well somewhere.@@spaceystacey3388

I know that a lot of people keep saying that it’s weird she packed up her dorm and say it’s because she was planning on leaving UMASS or running away etc., but FM had said wayyyy in the beginning that over Christmas break the university cleans the dorms and they ask students in the dorms to pick up everything off the floor so they can clean it and where I went to college, spring semester starts at the end of January so she honestly may have just been lazy and not unpacked it yet. FM said that’s what he believes it was and the boxes were open and gone through and only some stuff taken out so if she was only in school for 2 weeks after Christmas break, I can definitely see her just not having unpacked it all fully yet. Also, I use head and shoulders too and I’m a girl and I also have purple shampoo which is shampoo for people with blonde hair that makes your hair blonder after you wash it and if I was going away I would definitely bring my regular shampoo, H&S, and purple shampoo with me and I switch them out when I use them and only use H&S when I have dandruff and it’s usually mostly in the winter when it’s very cold and dry out. I also love pickles and eat them out of the jar and I have done this my whole life and I have a couple friends who love pickles like this too and one even drinks the pickle juice. And lastly, I also have 2 screwdrivers in my car. Once when my head light was out I went to an auto store and got a bulb and asked the guy to help me put it in and he got a screwdriver from the store and brought it out and changed it for me and then told me I could keep the screwdriver so next time I could do it myself and it’s been in my glove box for years and I keep it there for that reason so if I have something go out, I can go change it myself without having to buy a screw driver or go home or somewhere to get one. The second screwdriver I have is in my trunk and I got that from my garage when I was changing my tail light because the head light screwdriver was different than my tail light one. Just saying.....

This list of items tells me that she was running away to start a new life & needed to clean out all her personal items (toiletries, etc.) not fitting into her boxes so that the family could get them later. But it doesn't look like a list of things someone would bring if they wanted to kill themselves. And it's too many items to bring if you want to skip school for a week. This is all the items you would bring home with you at the end of Spring semester or end of college - everything - because you're relocating. Just my opinion.

On the list of inventory found from the car why did she have 2 toothbrushes with her? And in regards to the "Speed Stick" deodorant, Speed Stick was from the mens' line of deodorant by Mennen. The womens' version was "Lady Speed Stick". Maybe nothing, but definitely some food for thought. Also, did she typically carry a purse or wallet? On the ATM footage she appeared to walk away from the ATM with the money she withdrew in her hand. That seems somewhat odd to me. If you plan on using your money right away, you may not put it away in a purse or wallet.

It's important to remember that ANY of the things Maura's car could've been in there for some time (aside from anything that has a date on it that would prove otherwise, such as the receipt for the alcohol, etc), and it does not necessarily mean that she packed all of it specifically for the trip that would eventually lead to her demise.

I'm interested in what you're not seeing left in the car that if you were planning to be gone for approximately a week, should have been brought. She would need more than one change of clothes. She would obviously need underwear and socks, like you mentioned were not present. Just to name the most obvious since if you're planning to stay in a hotel, you most likely won't want to do laundry every other day. And I just don't see her recycling the same underwear & 2 outfits for a week.
What else is missing? Some of the alcohol she purchased. Which I find especially interesting if they were not found in the car. I don't know that they were not present, but I've heard nothing to suggest that they were. So assuming they were missing, and didn't have time to drink them & throw out the empty bottles, that seems like an important piece of information to consider.
What this tells me is that she may have been following someone to another location with the intention of drinking this alcohol, so she grabbed it along with the missing bag of clothes. Assuming she could shower where she was going in the morning before dealing with her abandoned car, and use their shampoo, etc, that someone's home was the intended destination. It also tells me that she was not going very far from where she had the accident, but too far to just go out to the car to grab her bag with what I assume was the majority of her clothes.
Why not also grab the open box of wine? I can only speculate of course, that it might have something to do with the fact that it spilled during the accident & the box was wet or sticky. Maybe she didn't want to make a mess in someone else's car. Plus, a couple bottles are pretty easy to shove in the bag you're planning to bring along anyway. Just wanted to share a couple of my thoughts.

I have my shit straight. Their first 3 albums were raw, sounded like a group of young guys trying to make it. After that most of what they did such as Pride was too sissyish for my taste. Less rock and more pop sounding. And yes i did know the actual name of the song Pride, i simply called it what i did because most dont. Yes, their later albums were much more popular than the first 3, but in the world of music popularity really doesn't always mean better.

I was thinking if the FBI does finally come into the case what makes us think they would have any better results? Fresh eyes, maybe. Maybe they have looked into it, or members of it, just in a curious manner. But I guess the odds are pretty high since its been coming onto 13 years that the agents reviewing it probably have not even heard of the case. But if its older agents and not new ones they may not be "fresh" eyes either. Although it wouldn't surprise me if the FBI has some kind of work ethic or code that says its members can't or shouldn't be doing work off duty so they don't get biased or their thinking influenced by outside sources. But I would think thats impossible too, because its normal people with lives over years of there life, not a jury being held in an environment controlled (no ways to reads what the news is saying about the case) for a month, or a few days.

Seems that if Maura got a ride with a stranger she wouldn't take a bag other than a bag with her wallet if she carried her wallet and ID in a bag thinking she'd able to gather her gear later. If she was grabbed or otherwise coerced Maura wouldn't be allowed to grab a bag, presumably. If she got a ride from someone she knew and didn't plan to return to the car, it seems likely that she'd take the essentials. With the money from her account Maura would be able to buy the non-essentials. And if she was planning on running down the road to a 'friendly' ride a backpack would be ideal and unless if she was planning on running into the forest to die.

Tim/Lance ~ I am POSITIVE either on a podcast or James Renner's blog it was stated MM took her favorite necklace AND stuffed animal with her when she left. Neither are listed in Items in the Car. Did she take them when she exited the vehicle? It would be of great help to obtain a description of both...... Im guessing the necklace meant something special to her so she may wear it on a regular basis which would be an identifying feature. ALSO, the stuff in the car is basically debris. 1/2 eaten food, 1 sock, shopping bags, toiletries, gym clothes, etc. Her belongings that were packed & left in the dorm - did they include her wardrobe??? AND it was previously reported Tim Carpenter took her things to an incinerator??? Thats just bizarre. Storing them for her return, or throwing out things that didnt have significance, but incinerating them??? beyond weird.
