What a world we live in people going off Roading in the complaining about it’s bumpy and dirty. It’s far less expensive than any other machine out there. If you do the amount of upgrades to it to equal out the cost of the stock, Can-Am or Polaris you’re going to have it as good if not better machine.
As far as performance I agree. The reason I bought a talon is I owned a rzr everything breaks engine out at 4k tranny at 6k. Literal worst machines on earth
YES!! We are paying attention to all you folks on the tube! I may not Comment or click on many things, but I watch alot of videos while I debate which machine to get next.
You need to try a YXZ. Best air filter system, NO tools to access, dual filters with primary being a proper foam MX style filter, SUICIDE doors SUCK! when they fly open they get damaged, YXZ is the ONLY machine with the radiator in the proper spot (rear), suquenchel gear box just like Talon, YXZ has NO single shear points on suspension like the Talon (weak), NO holes in the floor. Other than LIVE VALVE, better machine all around. After owning my YXZ for a year (1,600 mi), i have no complaints, no rear control links to bend, no belts to break, people who buy YXZ's LOVE to drive and are not pretenders, SERIOUSLY, try a YXZ, you will LOVE it!
I love my YXZ and have a bump seat in it now but my son is now 4 and we need more room so I’m looking for a 4 seater and My previous RZR needed constant repairs after every ride. The YXZ is bullet proof and I just add fuel, clean air filter, change oils.
we bought my wife's 1000x4 about the same time as you got yours & agree with you 100% on your likes/dislikes. also, we bought & installed the kwt particle separator, per your recommendation, & it fixes the air intake problem, plus greatly reduces the need for changing the air filter since the unit catches most of the dirt. thanks again for an awesome channel & keep up the great content.
Joe I took some 1/4" rubber, cut them in about 1" circles and glued them to the round points on the doors where the rubber bumpers on the door frame hit the door. You can't adjust those bumpers out enough to be firm on the door without falling out. The rubber pieces(or whatever you want to use) will take up that space and make the fit snug and remove the rattle. If you get it too thick then you'll have to SLAM the doors that much harder. I had an S&B particle separator on my FLV Talon just like yours. Although pricey, I got 3-5 times or more mileage from my air filters. I also got a Tusk spare tire holder that placed the spare high enough to see under. I also put the honda LED 40" light bar on and that was a mistake. It's not worth the high price. A $225 double row, curved, 30" Tusk bar worked MUCH better. FYI - I'm in Bullhead City and have have since sold my machine due to health reasons.
Love the DCT. I'd never have a buggy being powered by a rubber band. makes no sense to have something like that that you have to carry spares and tools so you don't get stranded.
Honda talon throttle is to touch though it makes it unacceptably jurky I thought the same thing but its not fun but on the honda 4 wheelers the dct is good (i own a rancher) but the 2 seater talon x is WAY to jurky i sold it
Carrying an extra belt is pretty trivial though. I used to feel the same way until I drove a Talon, X3, Turbo R back to back on dunes. The CVTs did. Much better job at keeping the engine in its power band compared to the DCT which required frequent shifting. In hard packed dirt the DCT is certainly more enjoyable than a CVT though.
I noticed the rattling is mainly coming from where the nets are bolted to the door. Drove me crazy. I ended up getting some EVA foam and putting that between the net bolt and the door. That seemed to help.
On the air filter, yes, it sucks to access, for this reason I installed the s&b particle separated. I just passed 700 miles on mine and I checked the air filter. It looks like it’s new! Not a bit of dirt or even dust. The other complaints you have, doesn’t seem to be a problem or concern for me. But good review. Thanks
I have owned two YXZ's so I know what it is like to shift. It does bring another dimension to the SXS world. I needed to upgrade to a 4 seater and ended up with a 21 Pro XP 4 Ultimate LE. The Pro XP 4 has the stadium seating in the back, and the noise levels are very tolerable to my surprise. We can communicate just fine w/o an intercom system. The rear seats can be removed very easily (only need to push a lever) and if needed you can turn the back seat area into a trunk -- very cool. The live valve shocks are a game changer for sure. However, the turbo is the big highlight and even a bigger surprise. I don't miss shifting at all, and after 1350 miles it still feels like it is new. I was not a Polaris fan ever, until the Pro came out last year. It is much better in every way than the older RZR's. It is a solid machine, very happy with it. A Honda/Polaris dealer told me when given a choice, the Pro XP over the Talon any day for comfort and performance.
I own a Honda CRF450x and a Honda CB1000r sport bike. Needless to say, I’m a HUGE Honda fan. Had to go with the Can Am Maverick Turbo. 172 hp, amazing suspension, sits like a race car, and handles amazing. Have over 1,000miles on the belt and not fraying much at all. For those of you concerned with switching belts it’s a 10-15 minute job. Super easy. For me, you get so much more with the Can Am for the same price as a Talon. If Honda puts some more guts in the Talon I wouldn’t have a problem looking at it when the time comes.
Nice vid and honest review. I have just 30 miles on my 1KR Talon ( desert too hot) but love it so far. I will be going the KWT route as well and can live with the other quirks, I think.
Try adjusting the rubber door stops inwards a little bit, when they are adjusted out you have to slam the door to get it to latch all the way. When there isn’t so much pressure on them they latch fully without the need to slam and don’t seem to rattle anymore. I’ve had my talon for a year and a half and just figured this out.
Overall sounds like great machine. It seems most of your issues are more related to specific nit picks and not major performance or reliability. I just traded in a 2016 Can-Am Commander Max 800R and am waiting to take delivery of 2021 Talon 1000x4, non live valve. Simply couldn’t find a live valve within 500miles of the PNW. The Commander we had was our first SXS, and overall a good machine that we put a lot of miles on and were never left stranded. But, servicing the machine was difficult being that the engine is between the seats and you have to un bolt seats and remove the tunnel to access it. In cab noise and heat were bad enough that we avoided riding in the heat of summer and wore ear muffs otherwise our ears would ring. Suspension travel was ok, so high speed off road wasn’t great. Ground clearance was the greatest limitation in Rocky trails of the mountains we hit. Obviously I’m super excited for any new machine that will perform better, but I went with the Honda for the DCT and known reliability as we use Honda ATVs on our farm and have for decades. It was between the Talon 1000x4 and the Can-Am Maverick Sport Max. I also couldn’t find and Maverick Sport Maxes. I was fortunate to find the Talon I’m getting at a dealership 3 hours away that wasn’t already pre-bought. Looking forward to ringing it out in the Cascade mountains.
I agree that the air intake is a major flaw. Putting a particle separator will give the Talon considerable horse power recovery, as a lot of power is lost because of constantly having dirty filters. However, I can think of several more important dislikes of the Talon than the doors and holes. The suspension on the Talon is absolutely horrible! The short design of the trailing arms make the machine buck terribly, particularly on woops, but also on just regular chop. The Polaris and Can Am base model's are far more plush than the Talon WITH Live valve. This is maybe the most serious flaw on this machine and exacerbates the issue with the accelerator. What issue with the accelerator? The accelerator is extremely touchy and placed in a way that every rock will make your foot bounce, ever so slightly, on the pedal. Every bounce will cause instant acceleration. Driving in a lot of chop will cause the machine to rev up and down and up and down, making your passengers sick. You have to teach yourself to cock the side of your leg and foot in a way that it stays on the pedal but also pushes up against the side-wall, to try and keep the pedal from causing constant lunging of the machine from every single rock you hit. Next is the fact that Honda doesn't seal up their dash. There is no firewall, thus allowing dirt and water to enter behind the dash, an area with electrical components and wires that would be damaged if power washed. Why Honda, why? Other things I dislike are around the fact that the seats cannot be removed like other machines and the passenger seat has no adjustment capability, forcing you to only allow short people to ever sit behind the passenger seat. A person with large feet and long legs will not fit in the back, particularly if the driver is also tall and requires his seat to be all the way back. By the way, the doors on the Talon, when properly installed are far, far better than CanAm or Polaris. Honda included thousands of rubber grommets and spacers on the Talon that Polaris would have never considered, quieting everything down. If you want to see a noisy cab, go for a ride in an XP. Also UTV's have holes. If the didn't you couldn't wash them or run them through big mud holes and rivers. This is not a design flaw, it's planned that way.
I just sold my talon because of issues the subtrans the doors drove me nuts and the dust, the transmission was under warranty but if you have more problems it's on you, I guess I expected better quality and reliability out of the talon
DOOR ADJUSTMENT/DUST CONTROL: I bought a roll of foam garage sealer from Lowes and used it on my Pioneer 700 for this issue. I pinned it to the doors with push rivets.
Only non-belt driven 4 seater that can keep up with machines twice as expensive= sold. I have driven a 1000R 2 seater in some gnarly terrain, and a 1000x-4 was able to go everywhere the 2 seater went. One guy had a RZR 1000 4 seater (don't know exact model) and he had to take some alternate routes, but I think the machine ran out of driver as opposed to driver maxing out the machine.
That was a great and honest review. By looking at your video Honda could have done a better job in correcting those dislikes from the beginning. There is no perfect side x side out there when it comes down to it but it seems like all manufactures do miss those small details which could be a bit of a gripe for the consumers keep up the good work I really enjoy your guys content.
Got the talon x4 lv on order, been thinking about switching to RZR pro xp4, but I believe I'll stick with the talon, they all got they're pros and cons, talon more suited for what I'm gonna do.. good video
I couldn't agree with you more about the air intake position..... HONDA, WHAT THE H3LL WERE YOU THINKING????? The first air filter on my 2020 lasted 160 miles. At $49 for a new one, it was a no-brainer to purchase the S&B Particle separator. Now, with over 1000 miles on the second filter, it's still looking great, and the intake is up under the roof where it should be. I guess the 2021 model is a bit different, but still not ideal.
Thanks for the review. i am trying to decide which non CVT machine to buy, Yamaha YXZ or Talon? I really frown CVT belts longevity. What is your opinion on the DCT compared to Polaris transmissions? Also, how is the Cabin heat with the radiator upfront?
We've had 5 or 6 belt driven machines and have only ever lost one belt in thousands and thousands of miles. The DCT transmissions are great, but they just happen to be in the wrong machines. The Yamaha is a one trick pony and basically only belongs in the sand dunes and the Honda Talon is has a terrible ride. Now a DCT in a Rzr or a Can Am or KRX would be the perfect combo. All sxs get pretty warn with the radiator up front. Yxz has it right by putting it in the back -Dave
I was torn between a General or a Talon. Unless I bought used, It really came down to availability. A new Talon X 2-seater with my name on it is supposed to be here Tuesday. I couldn’t get a live valve until the end of summer. Hoping I don’t regret the decision. We’ll use it for rocky trails, gravel roads and plowing snow. I’m upgrading from a Scrambler 850, so the world of SxS is pretty new for me.
You should be good either way, but having the on the fly adjustability is always nice. You will want to get your shocks revealed and new springs put on with either model. That will make it a ton better for those rocky trails. -Garrett
They both have their pro’s and con’s. If you’re looking for the smoothest suspension, the KRX is undeniably better. If you’re afraid of a belt, the Talon has you covered. One of the primary reasons I went with the Talon was I took my boss on a ride in my RZR and went through some water crossing. My belt cover was poorly sealed and we ended up stuck in the middle of the river and had to winch out. If I didn’t have a winch, I would have been hosed. I don’t think you could go wrong with either machine. -Joe
@@DerangedOffRoad I don't know if my reply made it to you, all I care is that I can take it to the Moutains or dunes and be able to sleep that night Lol. Thankyou for your knowledge Garrett
I'm curious about what part of Arizona you're filming. I kind of know the Tucson area so I don't think its around there. Must be outside the Phoenix area. Its pretty wherever it is. Good video. I just discovered the Talon so I'm trying to get acclimated to the model. I do respect Honda products but I appreciate you not being a fan boy and laying out the good with the bad.
Nice honest review, These side-by-side manufactures are getting away with a lot when it comes to quality, they have now put themselves in the price range of regular street cars. Who would go to the car dealer and drive off with a new car or truck with gaps in the floor, and doors that you had to slam? and still have to go buy a roof, bumpers, (Seriously bumpers?) windshield etc? in a road car you are getting AC, Stereo super quiet interior etc. Anyway I know they are completely different types of vehicles buy if the side-by-side manufactures are charging these high prices they should improve the quality. I live in Glendale just north of the 101, I might be interested in showing my Kawasaki when it is finished in a couple of months, would be cool.
Good unbiased review . It’s true no sxs is completely issue free . I just sold my 2020 Can Am Maverick Trail DPS 1000 , which was a fine 50” machine . Interior quality was very good . But I also felt the door latches , and handles were subpar and to spongey. For the money ALL of these machines cost there’s zero excuse for any of the manufacturers to skimp in these areas ! The extended wheel base was nice for comfort, BUT it made the machine just to low to the ground even at factory set up. I rated it at 8.5/10 overall. I have a 2022 Can Am Maverick X3 DS Turbo RR on order and not so patiently waiting for it to hurry up and come in! Lol
I'm not a fan of all the "holes" as you call them, but I figure if you don't want "holes", get a JEEP (cough-cough) and you can creep along dust-free at 5 miles per hour. I took the incentive of creating my own door gap seals out of rubber sheet material and aluminum strips.
When you spend $20k-$35k there’s no excuse for this on a sxs. My Maverick Sport doesn’t have holes or gaps around the doors, and I definitely can't see the ground. It’s sealed up tight and considerably less dusty than the majority of the machines out there. It’s just as easy for these manufacturers to design a sxs with good doors that seal and a floor you can’t see through as it is to design the half assed products they push out there. However the manufacturers can keep doing this because everyone settles for garbage and says “if you don’t want to see the ground then buy a Jeep”. -Dave
I sold my Talon 1000 X after a year and 1600 miles, and bought another RZR 1000 XP, so I consider myself qualified to expand on your comments. Here’s a few more things to hate about a Talon. 1. Stock suspension (non-live valve), especially on the X model, is the worst on the market. So stiff it’s ridiculous! Even after $1600 in Shock Therapy treatment the ride quality barely matches the stock RZR Trails and Rocks edition. 2. The Talon instrument panel is too small, too crowded, and terribly located to be of any real use, especially if you don’t have 18 year old eyes. Once it gets some dust on it it’s almost worthless for providing information like driving mode etc. 3. I’m not quite sure if there was an issue with my Talon or not, but the trans and engine noise was deafening at speed. You say sound was one of your likes, but for mine it was terrible. $1500 in Rugged Radio intercom and headsets made it tolerable. 4. Location of the fuel cap outside the door and shaped to be the perfect place for dirt, water, and mud to accumulate and needs to be cleared before you can remove the gas cap. 5. Twitchy throttle that’s prone to causing bump throttle making smooth operation in rough terrain very difficult. 6. Constant up-shift/down-shift when slow speed trail riding. Terribly irritating to be constantly jerked backwards and forwards from the harsh shifts on trails. 7. The need to ensure you are in Manual Mode before heading up a steep/loose grade, or sand dune. Failure to switch to Manual mode will result in the trans trying to shift up as soon as you start to get wheel spin, which then results in bogging, then a down shift that causes wheel spin which starts the whole cycle over again as you slow to a stop! Of course the poor instrument panel design make quick recognition of what mode your in nearly impossible so it’s anyone’s guess as to what mode your in. You can always use the paddles to shit down, but unless you are in Manual mode the trans will try and shift back up as soon as it can after a manual down shift. The lack of a CVT/belt transmission was a big selling point for me when I bought my Talon, but for my style and terrain, the DCT turned out to be more of an irritation than a benefit. Besides, with the 3 RZRs I’ve owned, I’ve never had a belt failure yet. The only thing I miss about the Talon is the excellent hill decent control. The RZR, even the Trails and Rocks edition, is shameful in its downhill control. They do have a Hill Decent system in some of their models, but for whatever reason decided not to include it on the model specifically designed for climbing rocks and steep trails. Anyway, like you mentioned, the air filter system is a nightmare, the gaps and holes everywhere seem unnecessary for a $20,000+ machine, and the factory Honda door lowers really fit poorly. I spent thousands trying to address issues that never should have left the factory and was glad to let it go to the next owner.
If u live east of the Mississippi I would go talon all day. Especially In the hills of WV n KY. What I’ve seen these talons do is absolutely mind blowing. I live in the north east and own a 21 x3 xrs rr live shox and these talons are absolute beasts!
@@DerangedOffRoad the drivers I saw in them where more capable lol. But their builds for 25k compared to my 40k seems like a way better deal for the hills of the eastern side of the U.S. there’s deff something to be said about having a trans over a belt drive in those hills. There’s just something about it I can’t explain. The way the power is delivered on those talons is something else. But if we’re out west ide take my canam all day. Love my machine but when it’s time to add another toy a 2 seat talon w lockers and a chopped cage will be my next sxs. Who knows it may even be a turbo model by then.
Thanks for the great review. I will be purchasing my first S X S soon and have a few questions……. Would you purchase another Talon down the road and have you had any issues with running the 29” tires? Thank-you.
Very Good honest review of the Talon! As far as the belt drives, they do work, and work well if you drive them right. I have NEVER EVER had a broken belt on any of the Machines I've owned over the last 7 years! You just have to operate these systems properly, like always let the belt warm up before tromping on the throttle, and also shifting to low range when climbing! I had a 2017 CanAM Defender that had over 5,000 miles before I changed the belt!
You commented about the mess you get changing the oil and getting the skid plate full of oil. I have a solution and I've used it 3 times and only about a teaspoon of oil to clean up afterwards. I'll send you a email with some pictures of my solution if you want to see what I made for about $2.
Hey Joe, when you went with the bigger tires and the shock therapy upgrade did you add limit straps? I haven't seen them on the Talon, but maybe I missed them. If not do you get the top out clunk pretty bad?
@@DerangedOffRoad Yeah, I went out yesterday and I've got some pretty good clunk. I went with the 8 ply 31" Terrabites thinking I could get a little bit smaller, lighter tire than what you went with. Straps and a skid plate are the next two things on my list by too. I think I'm gonna get the SSS Off-road skid with the integrated rock sliders. Thanks for the reply.
I put a UNI round foam filter on the intake inside the filter air box, clamped it on and I wash/ change it about every 5 hours or after a dusty ride. It saves a TON of money on filters. Agree with you on the design, it sucks. Also, Honda may not claim it, but they have a transmission issue, I had the low range cogs wear just a little, and it made shifting a terrible experience, was a relatively inexpensive fix, however, I pretty much keep it out of low range now. All in all, the suspension is unbeatable, the handling is amazing, it's super comfortable, quiet, and COOL. I use a six inch door strap on the doors on hot days and let them stay open just a bit, it gives you a ton of circulation. Overall, I think it's by far the best option for a 4 place SXS.
Fortunately, I haven’t had an issue with low. I would like to see some numbers of how often issues arise compared to rigs sold but Honda would never share. Also put the UNI in the air box. Saved a filter or two but definitely wasn’t wrk the hassle. Might end up going with a KWT particle separator but need skids first. -Joe
Never owned one of these and never driven one before but always wanted one and after doing a ton of research I settled on the 2021 Polaris xp pro turbo 4 seater I won’t get it until all my accessories are installed which some things have to be ordered. I’m looking forward to hitting some trails here in AZ and getting some cool footage with the drone How do you like your Polaris?
We put a hold on a talon which will be about 6 month to get it in. Now after seeing your video I’m wondering if we should wait the 10-12 months for the live valve.
I personally won’t buy a belt driven machine as “I” just don’t like the way they work. To me it’s a Honda Talon or Yamaha YXZ. If you didn’t need a four seater you would probably love the YXZ!
Seen way to many problems with the trans on the YXZ, they can't take any slow driving. Otherwise a great machine, but plan on puting a lot of money into having clutches replaced.
If you could make a do over…would you still get a Talon over say a Polaris General? I am stuck between the two. I also have two kids so visibility is what originally led me to this ride.
Highly considering buying a new talon x4 this fall/winter, doesn’t sound like the flaws are that big of a deal. Overall do you recommend the Honda, I’m coming from a rzr xp4 1000
Yes. I ran the UNI filter in the air box for a few months. Didn’t have to change my filter as much but had to spend the time to open the air box to clean it after every ride. The fix for the issue is to use a particle separator or an external prefilter. Fairly simple jobs but not something that you should be expected to do when you buy a new rig. -Joe
Ha ha! I’m not sure Joe’s goal was to take it over the coals, but to just provide a real life review. To be honest the Kawasaki has plenty of its own issues as well just like every other machine out there. -Dave
Hey Joe, I agree with your review. I have a 2021 X4 FLV and have had problems with it starting at just 70 miles of ownership. It’s currently at Chaparral Motor Sports, has been there for over a month and problem has not been remedied. Wondering if you’ve had any problems with yours? Other than this issue, it’s a good machine.
🏆🏆🏆👍🇺🇲🙏 May be apples and oranges... My 2020 Pioneer 1000 doors double click. Once could rattle, push for second click, it was solid. I also added R3B for bushings. Good, honest review. I'm not hard on my machines. I had the first 2001 Rubicon Foremam 500 with the HondaMatic. Sold out in 2020. No problems, no failures. Always reliable. Had a 1997 Honda 300. Same reliability. Had a 2004 Yamaha Rhino 660. Broke one rear axle climbing up hill on wet tree roots. Sold in 2020. No failures or disappointments. Still had the ORIGINAL BELT on it. Farmer runs it 7 days 365. When I was four, I got a Rupp minibike with a Tecumseh motor. And, at six a Honda SL-70. I rode the tires and muffler off it before a 125 at 8.... I think Mr Honda was my uncle 👍. I just felt safe and they were reliable. No reason to change. Thank you for sharing
I love the idea of it, I’m just having an issue with the cage. It seems like it sticks up really high over the back seats. I’ve done some quick searching but are there any better looking cage options out the for them?
So I am going to be in the market for a sxs soon. That being said, I have 3 options. Rzr S4 900 which I believe you owned b4 talon, s4 1000 and a talon. The first to are hard to find and so talon in that matter. Anyhow, how much of an upgrade was talon over s4 900? Worth it? Thanks
The cab seal issues concern me, when looking at a 4 seater, wife and children's enjoyably are a big factor to consider. I'm wondering what the new Commander 4seater would be like since you mentioned the Maverick Sport doors.
I recently watched a video by Shock Therapy stating the Talon is one of, if not the, roughest riding machines. Would you agree with this opinion of the Talon's ride?
Something to keep in mind when you watch the Shock Therapy Videos, 9 times out of 10 they are referencing racing or high speed conditions I.e. whoops, high speed desert, etc. When Justin talks geometry, this is usually what he’s referencing. The ride on the Talon for most people is better than most machines. However, it’s potential in high speed stuff is limited by its geometry and travel. In short, if your coming from a ProXP or X3, don’t expect the ride to be better. If you’re coming from a RZR S, Wolverine, commander, general, etc, you can expect the ride to be better. If this is your first rig, you’ll be very happy. If it’s not, you’ll likely want to spend a couple hundred bucks on new tender springs. -Joe
@@DerangedOffRoad Thanks Joe, that makes a lot of sense, especially after viewing some of their Baja video! This will be my first machine and I am leaning toward a talon due to the DCT and rear seats for the kiddos. Thanks for making the review video on the talon!
My personal experience is that the Talon X has the stiffest stock suspension out there. The R is somewhat better, and the Live Valve is much better yet. Depending on how and where you ride your Talon you’ll either find it intolerable or acceptable. For me, doing mostly slow speed rough trail riding it was intolerable!
I’d buy it again for sure. If money was not a concern, I’d take a hard look at the ProXP ultimate though. Not looking to get rid of the Talon but if I did, and I wanted to stay in the same ballpark budget wise, I’d consider the new commander XT-P. -Joe
My wife just bought a krx it was 20,400 out the door..me being tax exempt and in my opinion is the superior machine in the belt class for the price. Comes stock with 32s bead lockers and beefy suspension but I have to have the four seater for the kids so I love the fox live talon also
@@DerangedOffRoad ya I’ve never heard anything good about how the talons ride 😂 I have a XX but I need a 4 seater. Probably gonna go with a pro xp because I need a 64 inch car so it will fit in my toy hauler

Just what you should have to do on a $20,000+ machine. 🤔
Love the DCT. I'd never have a buggy being powered by a rubber band. makes no sense to have something like that that you have to carry spares and tools so you don't get stranded.
Honda talon throttle is to touch though it makes it unacceptably jurky I thought the same thing but its not fun but on the honda 4 wheelers the dct is good (i own a rancher) but the 2 seater talon x is WAY to jurky i sold it
@@SSYoung125 learn throttle control like a real man
Quite honestly I'd take that rubber band over how fuckin clunky and annoying it is listening to that fuckin thing 😂😂😂
I’m still debating what machine to go with and you guys for sure play a role when it comes to what I’m leaning towards. Great vid thank you
I agree...
When they fix those issues, I will buy one!
A Honda/Polaris dealer told me when given a choice, the Pro XP over the Talon any day for comfort and performance.
good to know, how has the reliability been for you with the Pro XP 4? that's my biggest concern with Polaris.
I will be going the KWT route as well and can live with the other quirks, I think.
i can't get threw your video without commercial after commercial
I have a Talon x and I think the doors are great. I have had mine since 2019. No rattles ever
Same here
Same here…
The gauge cluster on mine is in the center which hard to see, No leg room , The gas pedal needs to be redesigned
Thanks for your time.
That’s awesome! Congrats on the new rig! Im sure you’ll be happy with the Talon! -Joe
Ya I’m the same on my Honda reviews , foreman and pioneer . It seems like after a year things change and some things don’t . Come see
Half way through the video, so far only one thing he likes. I hope it gets better!
DOOR ADJUSTMENT/DUST CONTROL: I bought a roll of foam garage sealer from Lowes and used it on my Pioneer 700 for this issue. I pinned it to the doors with push rivets.
Great review. Helpful information for my honda buying process
I took my Talon up Fourpeaks two weeks ago. But we know Arizona is kinda hot to ride during the day right now with this weather. Lol
Still a damn good machine i have the 1000r and yes some things i agree with you but she gets up and runs!
Love your videos, made my decisions easier to buy a talon, thanks guys!!!
The most important negative comment you made was the air box issue. All other negative comments were a tad bit frivolous.
I think im interested in the talon now not a bad review thanks
I would like to see you down here in Golden Valley az get my crew together and hit the hills keep it safe ,Reuben
Your info, especially the transmission type, make me buy one soon.. thanks.
Yxz has it right by putting it in the back
-Dave
-Garrett
I'm a senior who had RZR and a Renagade 5 years ago, wanting to get back out there and explore, I'm torn between Talon and KRX 1000. JEFF Vail Az
Do you need a four seater or just a two seater? -Garrett
@@DerangedOffRoad I like both, but when I'm ready to buy ,it depends on what kind of deal I can get.
-Joe

I agree! Send us and email when your rig is ready and we’ll see if we can make something happen. -Joe
-Dave
I agree with everything you said. Also i dont have mine anymore but i hated the gauge cluster its like 1990s style lol.
Y’all definitely played a roll in my decision to buy my KRX a few months ago #kawasaki
Thanks for sharing! -Joe
Are you saying the Talon is a more capable sxs than your 21 X3?
-Dave
Thank-you.
Thanks for making the Talon so hard to find 😂
Great info currently shopping in Az
If you had to do it over again would you buy the Talon. I will be moving to Mesa soon and will be purchasing a SXS and am watching your video's
With budget being a limiting factor I absolutely would. If budget wasn’t a concern, I would probably go with the ProXP 4. It’s impressive. -Joe
Hey Joe, when you went with the bigger tires and the shock therapy upgrade did you add limit straps? I haven't seen them on the Talon, but maybe I missed them. If not do you get the top out clunk pretty bad?
I haven’t added them yet but I definitely need them. I’ll be adding those and skid plates before I go to SandHollow UTV Takeover in October. -Joe
So far, we have all been very impressed with the pro XP. Don’t have a ton of miles on it though it’s in the middle of a build. - Joe
We put a hold on a talon which will be about 6 month to get it in. Now after seeing your video I’m wondering if we should wait the 10-12 months for the live valve.
Solid review man
I just picked my 2021 1000 x4 Live Valve, and I’ve enjoyed it so far. I’d still like to get some info on the roll cage whip light mounts.
How does it do in the mud? Within the air intake and Joel’s everywhere idk
@@galatians515 You should see my video on how slow the YXZ can crawl.
If you could make a do over…would you still get a Talon over say a Polaris General? I am stuck between the two. I also have two kids so visibility is what originally led me to this ride.
I’ll jump in and say I would do the Talon personally because it’s a little more sporty and the seating is great for kids. -Garrett
Isn’t there a nice location up by the airbox that you dump oil in? I don’t think you’re supposed to fill it up where the dipstick is.
Haha! Yeah, that’s where I fill it from. Filters and angles just make it a stinkin mess! -Joe
Highly considering buying a new talon x4 this fall/winter, doesn’t sound like the flaws are that big of a deal. Overall do you recommend the Honda, I’m coming from a rzr xp4 1000
Absolutely! All around, I’m a fan of the Talon. -Joe
@@DerangedOffRoad could you put a pre filter around the air intake? That would help kick down on the dust getting to your filter.
-Joe
No reason for the huge door gaps. They should all have close gaps and weather seals.
Raked it over the coals bud! I'm going to purchase the Kawasaki instead. Great review, honestly is the best policy. Cheers.

Love my 2021 x4 lv
Is the talon r equipped with that suspension.
I always look at the talon just can’t commit yet! The air box is the deal breaker. I’m in the market replacing my Polaris they lost quality!
So Joe would you buy the Talon again or would you look elsewhere?
Thank you,
Mike
I’d buy it again for sure. If money was not a concern, I’d take a hard look at the ProXP ultimate though. Not looking to get rid of the Talon but if I did, and I wanted to stay in the same ballpark budget wise, I’d consider the new commander XT-P. -Joe
@@DerangedOffRoad Thank you Joe for your feedback!
You're living, bruh
Where u get your lite bar at and how much for krx
My wife just bought a krx it was 20,400 out the door..me being tax exempt and in my opinion is the superior machine in the belt class for the price. Comes stock with 32s bead lockers and beefy suspension but I have to have the four seater for the kids so I love the fox live talon also
How bad is the ride compared to the pro xp?
Pro xp is light years ahead in ride quality. It’s like dump truck vs a luxury car
Dave
@@DerangedOffRoad ya I’ve never heard anything good about how the talons ride 😂 I have a XX but I need a 4 seater. Probably gonna go with a pro xp because I need a 64 inch car so it will fit in my toy hauler
How much was it?
.Thank You
Which model would be a better, reliable, 4 passenger sxs? Is Can Am any better ?
LOL the Honda Mule!
FYI your first like causes premature clutch wear.
Rzr pro xp 4 is the shit kicked the fuck out of it no problems 181 hp belt problem is fake
Lmao 2k miles.. 8.5k in 1 year and 3 months with no issues
