Great review bud! Kawi needs to suck more power out of that engine and offer a narrower version. They’re always slow to react and give customers what they want! Having a Teryx 4 myself I can say they build one solid unit though!
Been riding trails in Arkansas for 14 years. Both Honda and Kawi have recently started showing up. I got the 24 KRX es and I do wish it was a tad bit small. 8hrs a day on the trail for 4 or 5 days, I’m glad I got the KRX, just a more comfortable vehicle to be in all day. That’s what’s important to me cause some of the older RZR 800s are there right with all the new ones.

Doesn’t make any sense to me that they’ll only offer the Talon in only the shorter wheelbase 1000X but they’ll sell the Krz with the longer wheel base and is wider. So if you compare the 1000R you get a better comparison.
The Kawi for me. More comfortable and the CVT makes for smoother shifts. I can see some taking the Honda but, for the way I ride and the confort factor, the Kawi would be my choice.
I’ve drove both the Talon X & R. They are the worst , stiffest riding sport SxS’s out of the box. Need to spend $1600 -$1800 to make it ride plush and comfortable
Love my KRX. Lots of tight trails here in central NB too, but also full of open trails and wood roads. Have about 700 km on it in a month and no complaints on its ability. Small seat belt issue under warranty and the suspension slap is loud over bumps but I’ll be working on a different suspension height soon! Cheers thanks for the video! ps what’s the rear cargo difference between the two machines. My KRX fits 2 small action packers no problem or one big one with a homemade wood tailgate.
Yeah, I’m looking at em thinking that they each would hold a small spike from Arkansas or Alaska, but a big buck with a rack wouldn’t fit, and the spare tire rack on the kawi is in the way if the spare is there, but might be easier to strap the deer to if no tire in the way. Neither is bringing an elk down off the mountain (can they pull trailers, cause I didn’t see a hitch on either?)
I agree.. Do you ever think about putting a turbo on it? Ive got a TalonX, and have been thinking about it, but for 5-6k just for the turbo is a hard pill to swallow
Yeah I have to agree I absolutely love my 2020 TalonR! Sure there’s a couple trade-offs but all in all the Honda is the best machine on the market. Just wait 10 years and see what kind of shape the other machines are in compared to the Honda!
@@simpsonrdlarry4385 the Honda lasts longer argument died 15 years ago. But you have to also consider Honda anything is typically underpowered and owners are typically not abusive to them.yes there are some who are rough too. Btw, I have a friend whose Honda ATV has been in the shop 13x and the issue still isn't fixed and just went in again and gave an expectation of it being in the shop for a month.
@@EC_ATV_Outdoors your argument is ridiculous, and you’re going to use one machine having an issue for your evidence? If Honda’s stuff is so under powered all of these years how is it that they seem to win nearly everything? I have a good friend who owns a Polaris dealership and they are swamped working on that shit steady! Sorry but it’s the facts. He even said that he wouldn’t buy the Polaris if he didn’t own the dealership! He says he loves them for keeping his shop and 6-7 mechanics busy nonstop! Now as far as the can am again they’re a great machine if you enjoy working on shit rattling loose all of the time as well. I personally like to use my toys not to look at them broke down every time you turn the key! Each to his own!👍
@@simpsonrdlarry4385 polaris and Can-Am's are both high power v-twins, and most ride them hard. And what exactly is Honda winning? I think all brands have their pros and cons. I'd rather hand shovel than to deal with the bs of backing up on a Honda plowing snow. Even Honda owners tell me they don't want to plow on their Honda's. Imo, Suzuki takes the win for reliability, 5000km and zero issues, i Ly did fluid changes. They seem to be on track for fixing bump steer and just added composite racks for 2021. And lastly, polaris sells more vehicles than everyone, so yeah, mathematically there will be more in the shop. And I know more people with Honda issues. But I've never seen or heard of any other brand having 1 ATV in the shop in the double digits for the same handful of issues. It limps after going through a 1/2" puddle, pod lights flashing like mad. Going up hill the transmissions doesn't know what to do for gearing and shifts too much are just 2 examples, and the dealership says it's normal and to manually shift uphill. At the end if the day they all have their quirks and issues, but Honda is not the king of reliability it once was. Nor is it the best at anything.
The Talon has had a slough of issues lately. I have not heard any trending issues with the KRX1000. For durability, go KRX1000. It may be underpowered and heavy but it has a plush suspension and handling.
Krx suspension springs wear out and sag, front knuckles break completely, and soon you will start hearing about primary clutch wearing out fast. I dont have a sxs, just read a bunch.
Very Nice video...!!! Kawasaki is much better for what you pay, obviously they are too different.. As someone mentioned here, Talon 1000r would be more competitive to kawasaki.if kawasaki would be 64 wide and 20% more power it would be the King of non turbos. Talon’s chassis is not good, experts say that
I have a Talon 1000X. Let’s just say it’s TIGHT. If you’re looking for a plush ride, with a smooth throttle feel, it isn’t for you. However…. If you like feeling connected, and engaged with your machine, you’ll love it. The throttle response is instant. I also like hearing the mechanical gear shifts, especially when paddle shifting. I love mine, but they’re probably not for everyone.
i'd like to see kawasaki bump up the HP to 125 or 130 hp to make a better power to weight ratio and get rid of more in cab heat they should take note from the yamaha Rmax 1000 minimal to no in cab heat.
I don't know why some people end up with high cab heat...... but my machine doesn't get hot...... my buddies is the same way...... no cab heat...... but I've definitely heard people complain about that and the gas boiling
Id pick the kawi the talon is dope but they dropped the ball on the suspension, shock therapy did a video and the 2 sport sxs with the worst geometry are the honda and yamaha. Still i think both machines are great, can go wrong either way. Side note i live in so cal we have alot of desert out here
Thank you for these great comparison videos! I really want to buy a Talon but need to make sure it’s the correct machine for me. I love the fact it uses gears rather than a belt. I want a 4 passenger so I imagine the extra length will prevent the rear from kicking up. The Polaris General XP 4 passenger could be a possible contender also. I like that you can tow with it if I need to move my trailers around my property.
My buddy just bought a KRX. I have a Talon. I plan on trying his out. I love the instant throttle response of my Talon, but it does ride like a tank. lol
@@jamiesloan7259 I don’t mean any disrespect towards the talon but at least where I am in the rough East Tennessee/Kentucky mountains the krx does better. Yamaha has gears to so you can argue the same thing and the hondas have had zero issues with the trans. Also with the money you save in belts you could buy a tranny. You also have a more reliable machine overall cause theres no risk of a belt breaking at all
Just picked up a 2021 KRX with 107 miles and tested it out in the mountains. I was quite impressed. the hill climbs it was able to achieve with no slippage ! Paid approx. 18 k did I do good ? Put 30 miles on it so hopefully previous owner didn’t beat on it too bad ! 🤷🏻♂️

I'm going to reply to every Honda reliability comments as it's just not an argument anymore. I've said it many times, I know people with huge Honda issues. And all manufacturers have issues. And the bigger names get bigger criticism, but when they sell 2x the units, often their stats are lower on average. And fyi, I had a KQ, same year as the person I know who has the most Honda issues. I had 5000km before trading it in, no issues and I ran it hard, and plowed snow. No ody with a hi da wants to do the bs that is backing up. Now plow with a Honda and you'll hate your life. I also have a Polaris and an Arctic Cat. Neither major issues, just shock bushings in the AC needed replacing.
They all have issues. Anything made by humans will have them. Honda does a really good job of controlling. Them. I work in repair at a major auto manufacturer of one the most reliable car companies and you wouldn't believe the stuff we fix to try to achieve that
@@benharris2490 agreed, and I come from automotive and manufacturing, and the reality is, most don't make their parts, they contract them out with their specs and then they just assemble them. Chassis, cage, suspension, everything is head and shoulders above the others. You can get a speed for the same $30k which will run circles around anything in the marketspace. Speed is build on the chassis, engine, etc from the Wildcat XX. The Wildcat still has 140 hp naturally aspirated which is the highest non-turbo machine. Engine is the same as the YXZ. Speed has opted for the original Arctic Cat 1000cc Twin with turbo. Only 250 - 300 hp stock. These cars are so far ahead of Polaris and Can Am that I am surprised anyone would pay the same price for highly inferior machines. Oh well. I'll admit they didn't push the advertising as hard as they should have. Wildcat XX has no 4 seater either. Speed, however does have both. speedsxs.com
Neither of them is as stone-cold awesome to drive as my RS1. I do prefer the Honda dct to drive over the cvt of the Polaris, but not to service or repair! Hopefully you sold it back to them?
Doesn’t make any sense to me that they’ll only offer the Talon in only the shorter wheelbase 1000X but they’ll sell the Krz with the longer wheel base and is wider. So if you compare the 1000R you get a better comparison.
Good point.
The Kawi for me. More comfortable and the CVT makes for smoother shifts. I can see some taking the Honda but, for the way I ride and the confort factor, the Kawi would be my choice.
Kawi doesn’t shift.
Lol...... this guy
I just bought a new 2023 KRX and I love it my only complaint is it could use a little more power in particular during the take off
I’m very happy with the power on my 2021 KRX for me Power is not an issue when I stomp on that throttle she goes !
Check out Shock Therapy, Kawi has the best suspension and Honda is like the 1st RZR that came out 😂
shock therapy also want to sell you well suspension
Shock therapy was talking about suspension geometry design in that video. Not the springs/tuning that come stock.
Those guys are really good, but they are desert rats for the most part.
I’ve drove both the Talon X & R. They are the worst , stiffest riding sport SxS’s out of the box. Need to spend $1600 -$1800 to make it ride plush and comfortable
Weller Racing is a better option in my opinion especially for the Talon,
I live in Arizona and both companies are based here.
I definitely prefer the electric-like pedal response.
Loving this channel. Canadian eh!!
Fucking eh bud 🤘!! Ontario proud aswell lol ..
I love my 2019 Honda Talon 1000R. I just wish my Honda would have came with a 3 cylinder instead of the 2 cylinder.
Did hear about the knuckle issue as well
Very Nice video...!!! Kawasaki is much better for what you pay, obviously they are too different.. As someone mentioned here, Talon 1000r would be more competitive to kawasaki.if kawasaki would be 64 wide and 20% more power it would be the King of non turbos. Talon’s chassis is not good, experts say that
I personally think the Kawi is already king... with a little clutch work and a tune it will be pretty sick...picking one up shortly.
Great comparison Steven! You covered everything and make it interesting to watch.
Your face in that helmet kills me lol great video
i'd like to see kawasaki bump up the HP to 125 or 130 hp to make a better power to weight ratio and get rid of more in cab heat they should take note from the yamaha Rmax 1000 minimal to no in cab heat.
I don't know why some people end up with high cab heat...... but my machine doesn't get hot...... my buddies is the same way...... no cab heat...... but I've definitely heard people complain about that and the gas boiling
I think some of these people have their units enclosed or partially so.
Check out the new Yami RMAX 1000 over the general. My friend has a talon R... I personally hate it
You can tow with a talon, you just have to get a reciver.
This is the first time I’ve seen somebody pick the talon over the krx
Talon is more powerful and has no belt. I guess that’s it
My buddy just bought a KRX.
There are several places I can see most of the other sport machines beating the krx but in the rough nasty stuff I have a hard time seeing a krx getting beat with equally skilled drivers
My son has the KRX and I think its truly an amazing machine, I went and checked out the talons my only issue is with the transmission, if it goes out your looking at 6 or 7k to replace it, I'm going to get one come spring but think I'm going to lean towards the Yamaha or Can Am route
Thats what scares me too. I live and work in the oil fields in nortbern bc canada and a well site oporator had a pioneer 1000 and literally right after the warranty was up the trans. Piled up and he was told almost 10k for a new one installed at the stealer ship. Cvt is much more cost friendly.
Can am X3 powertrain Is bullet proof
Yamaha has gears to so you can argue the same thing and the hondas have had zero issues with the trans. Also with the money you save in belts you could buy a tranny. You also have a more reliable machine overall cause theres no risk of a belt breaking at all
I want a krx1000 with a talon transmission
Awesome video and channel just subscribed
Ever want to take a trip to Alabama we have 5k acres of any riding surface you can imagine.
MOST Excellent and very informative…even the History lesson added Greatly!!!😁
I want a talon but my pioneer is just more useful
Any idea on mpg? I'd assume the talon is much more efficient?
Our '21 krx gets about 11mpg with me driving it. Has gotten better since the break-in is finished now
Grate video men, just wonder if you have some new videos comparing the Honda Talon 4 with the polaris? also I'm a 6.2 how or wish one have better leg room?
Thank you
I'm for the KRX overall it seems more stable and my last off-road was a 450 quad Kawasaki never an issue !!!
Good point. The Honda does come with some power🤙🏾
Love my talon 1000x-4 live valve. Love the gears and no belts to worry with
No way the Kawi bone stock has 14” ground clearance especially in the rear.
The pictures clearly show that the Honda sits higher. This guy is definitely partial to kawi
Your right... it 14 in the front and 14.5 in the rear... BONE STOCK
Base model they do. That has a bunch of extra options on it. And that's a press demo. Prolly has 2000 miles on it with lots of trailer time being strapped down at the chassis
@@CobraDot518 nah that’s right. The Kawi just has tender spring issues. Most owners need to replace them within the first few hundred miles because they compress so bad and lose a lot of ground clearance.
Krx vs Honda here in the stats. Honda sells for base 18000. Krx you can still purchase for 16500 base price the specialty additions for 2021 are still under 25000
The Kawasaki here in US is actually cheaper the Honda Talon !!!
I’ll keep my Rhino another 14 years.
lol
Ain't nothing wrong with driving what you like.
How about long 'ish' term reliability? Any personal experience w that?
i have a kawasaki for 6 years and love it
@@alexmisquez9612 I have three Brute Forces and one KRX for my wife and kids. Totally most reliable machines. Also have a yamaha and a suzuki. They're good ATVs also, but the Kawasakis put more power to the ground and also have been more reliable.
I have had my krx for almost a year 850+ miles absolutely no issues and love it. I have drove a talon and yes it does feel like it has more power BUT, it feels like you are driving a s10 through a plowed field, it is ROUGH. If you want to have back surgery in a year buy a talon. Top speed in the krx is about 65-67mph. For me 65 is plenty fast enough.
I think the talon 1000r would better compete, too bad us canuks can't get it
NORTHERN Toyota I got to ride the KRX at a place called TexPlex here in Texas. It feels huge!!! It rides very smooth. It’s not very nimble at all. I believe it was built for wide open areas and maybe some rock crawling. I’ve had opportunities to to drive the Polaris, CanAm, Yamaha and Talon R also. I’m a hunter but wanted to something that I could use for all kinds of stuff. I chose the Honda Talon 1000 R. I have been riding with some guys at TexPlex for about 6-8 months now. They all drive X3, Polaris, Yamaha, all of them are Turbos but mine. They are faster than mine but at least I don’t work work on mine every time I ride with them. I’m getting to be a very good mechanic on the Polaris and The CanAm. I mean my gosh I have heard there would be some maintenance on these thangs but every time you ride. WoW!!! Belts, driveshafts over heating fires. I’m so glad a bought a Honda!!!
Great video and enjoying your channel + CDN content. Any chance you know whether the Ram EcoDiesel will be available below the Rebel trim for 2021 like it is in the USA? I love the Sport Model but have no need for the V8 and it's poor mileage
As far as we know EcoDiesel is now available in any trim - including Tradesman.
@@TruckKing is that for 2021 in Canada? Thanks for responding. Now that the 2021 ordering is available online, it still doesn't show as available. That's really disappointing
Lost me with it’s meant for high speed desert running
Do you think Kawasaki will launch a 64" width KRX in 26 January 2021?
Nice review. Wait till you try out the RMAX 1000 XT-R! That's the machine! I've been looking and waiting forever and I finally pulled the trigger on the RMAX. I have some vids on my channel, makes more power than both the KRX and Talon too!
RMAXX is a nice machine and yeah it's faster... But not even in the same ballpark as the krx
@@Supertramp01 Care to explain, I'm curious.
@@BarnStangz its all about suspension and build. It's been proven that the krx has the best suspension on ANY sxs. They are also over built just like the baby brother teryx. While the RMAXX is more of a woods machine the krx can be a woods machine, desert racer, and is also a great rock crawler. I'm not ragging on the RMAXX at all because I am actually torn between the RMAXX and the KRX. I have land in southern Ohio so the RMAXX would be perfect but on the other hand the KRX is well rounded for everything. I don't need to go 100 mph so the RMAXX being faster isn't a selling point for me. The dump bed would be nice but the bed on the KRX is just as big just non dumping. I honestly love them both...but they are two different machine for different purposes...KRX is a pure sport where as the RMAXX is sport utility. KRX suspension would be plush in the woods and at high speed whoops..RMAXX would be soft in the woods but not so much at high speed desert trails.. so when I say not the same ball park it's basically because are meant for different uses. Although the KRX could be used as a semi utility purpose the RMAXX could never be pure sport. I am buying one of them this weekend and I am still torn on which one to get because are both VERY nice machines.
@@Supertramp01 Good explanation man! And I agree 100% with what you are saying. Build quality on both is top shelf. KRX has the best suspension geometry by far. But yeah, less utility. I would have gone KRX, but for me on my farm and the woods I ride I think the RMAX is better for me, but I still wouldn't mind having both like you said! I have a buddy with some land in Southern Ohio, I'm from Western Ohio, small world. Which machine do you think you'll get then? KRX? You are right, they are both so good.
@@BarnStangz man, honestly I don't know which one to get! I'm leaning KRX simply because I have friends that ride with rzr and talons and they go all over the place. I know the RMAXX would keep up but I think the KRX would be better in technical shit. So I'm REALLY torn. Cuz I do like that RMAXX. I have land in guernsey county. Right by the old ohio power and the wilds...so the RMAXX has its benefits there for sure. Would love both but only have cash for one lol. Yes it is a small world!
I'd love to see u review the cfmoto zforce 950 model
2021 Honda Talon Live Valve 1000R 2 seater with 32's M1 Evils. If you put a Jackson Turbo kit on it from the dealer, it goes from being the best non turbo side by side, to the best turbo side by side.
My 2020 can am x3 xrc rr: hold my beer...
@@richfarfugnuven6308 lol nice rig man but some people are getting these things over 200 hp with no tune or anything. And the new live valve is and the dual clutch puts 15 percent more power down. Indestructible rig also
@@GERONIMO326 bro turbo talons can’t even beat a rzr turbo and the components with the higher end X3 RR and Turbo S the talon are weaker then the competition and the geometry on the talon suspension wise is bad
@@Nate-Aims bro they literally got voted the most reliable utv on the market. The utv was set up for a turbo before they even released it for sale. Looking ahead. Also, they have more suspension travel, not this garbage usable travel polaris made up than any rzr or turbo s. Also the only difference in the rear is they use a 4 link instead of a 3 link. The softer the suspension the less reliable it is. Just the way it is. Talons are built to thrash. And when you put a turbo on them they go up to 200 hp. And handle it with ease. And you don't get the 15 percent hp loss like you do in the cvt due to gear on gear
You mentioned how tall you are but what weight are you ?
I'm wondering at 310 lbs and 6 foot will my fast ass fit the Honda lol
About that
6’2 350 fit in a talon today.
I honestly think the only thing the krx needs is 80 more horsepower
It will in January
When i was shopping for a sxs i sat in all of them, the krx had more room in cab for me, im a big guy and that was my main concerne was space, then the suspension on it was better and the ground clearance, 114hp is all i need for trail riding, oh and by the way its better on the trails, if you want fast for desert or sand dunes then get you something with a turbo, i dont need that, krx is the best
Cant beat Honda for reliability.
Why I bought a Talon x
I worked for companies that make parts for all names. And that's why you usually see a specific issue, the issue is with the supplying company making an out of spec part. And since I'm from this, I can tell you quality is fairly universal these days, because the company that made the Honda part also made the Polaris, Can-Am, and Arctic Cat part.
You said "all the major brands", but you didn't mention Suzuki. I wonder if they're working on one or more SXS machines?
We wonder too. They don't seem to be doing too much these days.
@@TruckKing Suzuki, at the dealers show in 2019, told them, "do not ask about a SxS, we are not going to make one"
Suzuki sales continue to fall. What's new for Suzuki in 2021? Fresh new graphics, the same as the last several years. I'm friends with an owner of a shop that sells Suzuki. He says without Polaris, his shop would be closed. Side by side sales are his bread and butter. He's trying to add Kawasaki to his inventory. He's the one who told me Suzuki is not going to make a SxS.
Looks like Suzuki needs new management.
“The KRX made it over the rock pile easier.” How many times did you have to back up and try again in the Talon? Zero.
You might try rewatching that part. He backed down twice then completely changed his line on the third attempt in which he made it up on after a bunch of slipping around.
I own a krx. He used the low power switch in which limited his climbing power/ability. The krx is slightly less powerful but makes up for it, on the trails in comfort. All so, the ability to fully lock the front diff when the driver selects it, makes for a more consistent rock crawler. The talon is a fun ride it is faster off the line, little faster on the top end. But rides like a old John deer gator compared to the Krx. Another the suspension on KRX is hands down the best designed in the industry. But don't take my word for this shock therapy has a video dedicated to this. But no matter what people pick at least there out riding. Remember peeps ride it like you stole it.
Nice work Truck King!
You should make a video comparing the Yamaha YXZ1000R to the Honda Talon. My vote is for the YXZ.
How's it compared to the wildcat X?
Super awesome video. I would love the Honda Talon but I heard way way way better things about the Kawasaki KRX
My friend's talon vs my KRX... i'll take the KRX anyday for the riding we do
@@jeremy888ferris7 absolutely agree with you. I would take it over anything. I own a 2013 wildcat 1000X and a 2016 Polaris rzr 1000 and I rode a 2020 Kawasaki KRX and I’m in love with that machine. Insane outstanding suspension looks really really solid and so reliable. Needs little more Huevos but that’s what I absolutely want
That's a fashion statement!
Your own channel very smart. That other channel sucked. Honda build quality wins
@The Insufferable Tool actually I don't
The krx in Hi the states starts at 20199 and the talon x is 19999 r is 21999
Great job. Very fair comparison.Keep it up.

He said the kawi was made for high speed dunes lmao Kawasaki and high speed doesn’t go together
I have the KRX & totally agree. The dunes are the opposite of the KRX strong points.
I believe the suspension is made for high-speed dunes. The HP comes later. You have crawl before you can run. LOL.
What happened to TFL???
They went their way and I want mine. No hard feelings
Always thought your reviews were the best on that channel. Definitely their loss. Your enthusiasm is contagious
The biggest difference between the two has gotta be the seat belts.
The krx harnesses are add ons. They don’t come stock.
Kawasaki KRX all the way!!! Not even a competition. Do a video on the KRX vs The Maverick
Is it wrong that I want it to bounce and feel out of control....
Either your microphone sucks or my ear buds sucks. Audio is crappy. Tinny voice sound, and certainly not your normal sound ?? Its your mic, second set up ear buds. Last note: Great Video as Always. I think I'd choose the same.
Talon has good power, ugly looks and a factory suspension that will jar your teeth loose. KRX has the best factory suspension money can buy, a comfy cab, huge , slowest in its class.
That's odd here because I can get a KRX 1000 for 16-18 depending on dealer, whereas the talons like 20 I live in WV tho
I bought mine for 29 k 😭😭😭 I live in AZ
Think you need to test the cfmoto zforce 950 sport.
When they make one available to us - we will.
Chinese Junk
The Kawasaki design for high speed desert? It can barely outrun a bicycle
I do a good bit of cycling and own a KRX. I must say unless you're a Tour De France caliber rider, you'll be catching vapors. Even if you were you're still catch'n um.
Ummmm... You missed the best one on the market. The Arctic Cat / Textron Wildcat XX and Tracker XTR 1000. These things come without a turbo which is why most people don't buy them I'm guessing.
We'd love to do a Wildcat - hear that AC?
Man that helmet looks a little tight. I can’t stand when my motorcycle helmet is tight .
Kawasaki for me.
I had the same thoughts that’s why I got a Honda!

Thank you for sharing
Neither of them is as stone-cold awesome to drive as my RS1. I do prefer the Honda dct to drive over the cvt of the Polaris, but not to service or repair! If I break a belt on the trail, I can fix it in ten minutes and be back in operation. All around, I think Polaris has it over both of these. The RS1 has it over any of the other Polaris models.
Good video
If only the krx also had a dct transmission instead of the cvt… just for the cvt the honda is the winner for me
Who's has an available turbo kit currently on the market for the KRX 1000???? ABSOLUTELY NO ONE!! K&T Still hasn't put one out like they've been promising for over a year now, So please don't give people FALSE information about the KRX. Yes Jackson Racing has a turbo kit for the Talon. As I've been on contact with Jason ovet at Kraftwerks USA they currently testing a Supercharger for the KRX.
KRX is the Cadillac of SxS
