The 2022 still looks like a 10 year old design with 32's and horrible thumping engine sound. By the way, I'm a huge Honda fan, but on the SxS, I only like their DCT....did I mentioned about the horrible lawn-mower like engine sound? Come on Honda, we don't care for cute painted wheels!!!! We want a less toy-look but a more aggressive sporty looking off-road machine, with better designed suspension and put a darn real 4 cylinder turbo engine on it! Hire some foreign engineers if your team can't do it!
It's easily the most advertised SXS in history and with Honda's reputation for reliability, it makes sense that many individuals and family's would consider the Honda Talon 1000X-4 for their next adventure machine. With our test crew putting it to the test for a few months on the east and western United States, there's lots of good to say about the Honda Talon. We look forward to your questions and comments.
I've had my 2020 X4 Live Valve for 18 months now, and live in Arizona. I don't do any fast desert stuff, and it's all climbing through the rocky trails in the mountainous areas and in places like the Boulders OHV area. Love it and it's a ton of fun. Solid car and no regrets making the purchase of the HONDA. My two complaints I have is it blows a lot of hot air up from under the dash area and through the shifter, and second is the suspension is "harsh" but not unbearable in the really rocky areas. This car has balls to get up the steep stuff, and is tame enough to descend the steep hills usually without having to touch the brakes. I love the fact that there's no rubber band to worry about and getting stranded on the trail. I put 32's on it with needing 1-1/2 wheel spacers on the rear because of the difference in axle spacing. Honda, and you won't regret it.
I love my x4. about 1800 miles on my 2020. Had it in the Black Hills, badlands of MT and all kinds of stuff in ND. Put trax on it this winter and now I need windows and heater. Only complaint is that it could use a bit more power with the trax. 4 foot of fresh powder was to much for it to handle! Granted I had 4 people in it in 4 feet of powder! A tuner and a couple of mods are in the future. I run with Polaris, Yamaha and Kawasaki rigs and everything has its benefits. Put an air cleaner snorkel on and a better air filter and have fun!
It just looked out that Allen had it the live valve on the West Coast And the Aaron bought the standard model back East. We could put together a whole montage of badass Aaron Meyer moments.
Kinda shocked at the suspension limits considering they are normally on top of that with their dirt bikes. I'm sure aftermarket will have a fix for it.
Unfortunately honda has forgotten about the riders who kept them going all these yrs. Unfortunately I'm done waiting for a Rincon update. Can am has a machine I've been looking for
I had an order in for a 2021 Live Valve since beginning of Jan. and was told honda isn't releasing any but now they're releasing the Viper Camo Ltd and I could get that instead but they won't be available until mid June oh and they're 30k. Needless to say I'm done with them I'm moving on to a RZR Trails&Rocks edition for 5k less and it comes well equipped.
@@phillipr7556 I'm told the same,or I could wait on a 2022 model,I've always bought yamaha so I talked to dealer I buy from,I could get a wolverine rMax sooner that that
@@Darrells.. I rented a rMax 1000 4 seat, Great machine if you don' tmind wearing earplugs.......Too damn loud! I'm done with cvt machines, I want to be able to up-shift when I want to putt and have a quiet ride!
Well since you are at the Honda plant...can you tell the guy/girl that attaches the ground wires to do a better job? That way the customer's machine doesn't die on the first ride. Edit: Oh, and tell the cooling system people to learn how to bled & burp a cooling system. No one wants a machine that overheats on flat ground in 50-degree weather.
Well, he did pay for the machine. In the end the, Aaron does not regret his purchase but hes obviously not one of those people who can't accept that the machine he owns has some flaws. The machine needs better brake fluid, bigger wheels and tires and a skid plate.
Ask Honda engineers why they put such a terrible suspension geometry on the rear as it has on of the shortest trailing arms in the market. And why are the rear hub widths 4 inches narrower than the front . For a SXS that is so hyped because of its name , it has such a screwed up rear suspension. The rest of the car is good but I’m not sold on it. Honda could have done better
The back end can get a bit light, especially on the two seater. We're told that some aftermarket suspension companies have it worked out. Hopefully Honda updates their SXS like they do their dirt bikes.
@@UTVonDemand Not sure you can use the word "update" and "Honda" in the same sentence. If they treat the Talon like a Rincon, then it will never get updated.
@@Mantooth2851 lol truer words never spoken. Had a 04 650 rincon…..and other than the 2005 680 engine it’s still identical 18 years later!? Wtf!!!? Honda will offer a new color in 10 years to buy them another 20 years with talon lol

Sorry but the suspension on the talon is terribly designed and lacking stability and scrubbing .the car is not balanced properly and the role cage is to thin metal .undersized motor . Sorry but i own one and should have spent the money and built my own car. Thanks honda keep improving it and charging more for it.
What a solid and in depth review. No disagreement at all based on 550 miles in my 2021 x4 LV
Thanks for the positive feedback. Glad to hear you're enjoying the Talon!

Awesome vid! Cool to see the East coast/ West coast perspective
Thanks brother. Is much money as Honda is putting into advertising this machine I would have expected a 100,000 views by now.🙂
Ok now you need some new videos 👌👍

Simply adding bigger tires to it makes a big difference. Smooths out the bombs and makes the suspension work better.

They have certainly neglected the Rincon. We don't get it.

What is the song at the beginning of the video?
Sounds like a paid promotion for HONDA ! Did they fix the dirty air filter problem by relocating the air intake , any changes from the 2019 models ?
Another great video.. 👍👍👍
Doc, thanks for coming in watching it with us. Glad you enjoyed it.
Check out this Honda talon in the Oregon dunes!
