the song is puzzlingly divisive amongst fans. Honestly think it has more to do with the video than anything else
Maybe some aren't too keen on the bluesiness of it? As a big blues based rock fan. it's right up my alley.

Here is part of a file I have about Miku and Saiki's vocals.
"Miku the Secondary Lead Vocalist is a Mezzo-Soprano, meaning she can sing lower and higher than Saiki the Primary Lead Vocalist, who is a Contralto/Alto. However Miku doesn't have the same vocal power that Saiki does. I have two different analogies explaining it. The first is audiophile: Miku only has a pre-amp installed, while Saiki has has the pre-amp and amplifier installed. The second is the hose: Take a hose with a screw nozzle, open it up so it covers the largest area, it doesn't spray very far or hard, that is Miku's voice. Tighten up the nozzle and now it can go very far with much more power, but it doesn't cover as wide an area, that is Saiki's voice."
And if you ever have the opportunity to watch/hear this song from the Line Cube Shibuya performance, it is MUCH better. If you watch the video, the visuals alone make it worth watching. Then add in how the sound is much better it makes it a "Chef's Kiss"
And the music for this song was written by Kanami, the lyrics were written by Tom Kenney and the song was produced by Tony Visconti. The Ladies when they were told that Tony Visconti wanted to work with them, they thought someone was playing a prank on them. Once they verified it was real, Saiki and Miku flew to New York and spent several days recording the vocals in Tony's studio. He later stated that they were the consummate professionals. One day they sang for almost 8 hours in total. Tony said that he had had other singers who could barely get through 1 full take, while Miku and Saiki sang multiple complete takes, then did it again. They also spent hours recording the layered vocals and got them done quickly.
A note to your comment about Misa not wearing any shoes.
Misa is known as "The Barefoot Assassin", for two reasons.
She doesn't wear any shoes during concerts.
And also, her maid costume is styled on an "Assassin Maid" tunic.
And just another note. The maids refer to their outfits a their 'Battle Armour'.
A lot of people think the maid costumes are a gimmick, but to me, they are their identity.

Produced by Tony Visconti (Bowie, T-Rex). He loved their music and wanted to produce a song with them. Saiki and Miku filew over to NYC to record the vocals. He also attended 2 shows when they toured the US.

@@purplebutterflywithabrokenwing Miku represents Zemaitis Guitars. Tony Visconti has an original Zemaitis 12-string electric guitar, handmade by Tony Zemaitis. It is practically priceless; monetary value probably 6 or 7 figures. He brought it to their NYC show in 2022 and there was an instagram post of Kanami playing it during sound check. Miku brought it out onstage during one of their breaks and someone shouted "Play it!" She looked aghast. I think she was almost afraid to touch it!

Dragons, a poignant commentary of the sad, self-inflicted current state of the world, is a great plunge into the bluesy rock style given to us by Hendrix and others. Heard live (and without the overly compressed mix), the song jumps from the souls of the members and into our minds as a warning. Band Maid has another song that is in the English language: "Don't Let Me Down". They did not write that song but the words are VERY sexual.
They did not write the lyrics to either of their songs in total English & it really shows... they are the two worst songs lyrically in their entire catalog.

Maidiac here just to say that we don’t all love every single song Band Maid has done. We love a lot of them. Even most of them. But still honest enough to say not every one 😊

When this song came out most fans didn't like it saying it was political and didn't think Band-Maid should be political in their music.

There are stupid, ignorant people everywhere - they're figuratively burying their heads in the dirt, but WON'T do it literally, which is an even bigger disappointment.
So now you can react to their first song in English called don't let me down but I realize you probably won't and that's a shame

The song is ok but I find it is not really in the Band Maid spirit. Miku did not write the lyrics. The video.is very dark which sort of conflucts with BM's positivity.
Why does every Band-Maid song have to be rainbows and unicorns? The Dragon Cries is a flat out kick ass banger of a song which tells a powerful message to the world!
Not sure that "Hate?" is full of positivity, except for Saiki's obvious loyalty to the woman that was hurt by an unfaithful partner. "Puzzle" is a song of pain and unfulfilled longing and resignation ("But that's alright with me").
