Everything about this song is brilliant beyond words particularly the descending 'ah ah ah'. If these girls don't achieve world wide recognition there is something badly wrong with the system - anti rock, anti girl - whatever the reason. There is not a band that comes anywhere near them for talent, performance, creativity and just all round bloody brilliance.
If you have listened to rock music since The Beatles you can hear how these new bands have picked out the best elements of songs from the 60's to the 90's. They love what they are doing and have learned to do it so well and at such a young age. The future of Rock is safe and in good hands.
Kind of a bitter sweet Band Maid day...the Budokan show they worked so hard to achieve was cancelled but they released another masterpiece. Budokan awaits you another day ladies, Band Maid is forever ours!
That was a great freeze-frame of Saiki. As you pointed out, this is not the Saiki of the indie days. We have watched her grow as a performer over the years and take charge as the lead singer for Band-Maid. The years have been a friend to her in other ways as well. I think it was Robert Palmer who put it best: "She used to look good to me, but now I find her... Simply irresistible!"
Such a good song. Thanks for the quick reaction OleSkule! The vid has captions but u can turn on CC to get the Japanese words in English as well. Watch it again & again!
I’d heard a song or two from Band-Maid and thought.. ok...not bad....Then I heard this..wow, just wow. I’m gonna have to really check out the rest of their music now
Thanks for another enjoyable reaction session. You’re always so observant and catch so many details! I think those that have been following them for a while will recognize the story of their journey and declaration of where they are headed from this point, in both the music and lyrics of the song. There are also many Easter eggs in the lyrics and video itself... older songs, MVs, album covers... In the Limited Pressing edition of the album, this song appears on both the “Roots” and “Progress / Evolution” CDs. Once again reinforcing the music and lyrics of the song. It’s a storytelling and message.
@@GaryHolloway-810 Neither did I. This was probably the song I overlooked the most from the preview, who knew it’d smack me silly on the very first listen. This is gonna be amazing to sing along in a packed stadium. It won’t take much to incite a riot with something like this 😅

These days it's just so popular to react to something even remotely Band-Maid related and calling it a day. I'm glad there are still people actually diving into the music and/or video. As I wrote on the actual MV, the song and imigary is great, with hints to the other songs on the album and nods to previous songs. Just like they did with Domination, minus the nods to previous songs. You have to watch it a couple of times to actually get all of it, if that is even possible. And if you look at the music videos these lovely ladies put out, the sequence has so far always been a simpler band performance type MV followed by an imigary ladden, elaborate MV and then back to the band performance focused MV.
I just want to thank you for mentioning Rolling Quartz! I fell in love with them immediately because, as you say, sounds like BAND-MAID did in the beginning. Just wow! How many bands are there out there that I have never heard of??? Amazing! I have to say I really love life when you find new gems like this. Thanks for making my day!

I think Miku finding Kanami is event that makes anything that comes later possible. Miku has a burning ambition to be a music entertainer. Miku wanted to form a band after failing as a child Idol singer. I'm not sure that Kanami would have developed as a songwriter to anywhere near the degree she has, without being pushed into that role. Akane and Misa have all the qualities to be first class session musicians, but as women it would have been hard to make a living at it. The two of them probably would have ended up giving lessons. Saiki has a nice voice but it's not really a typical J-pop voice, or a smooth City Pop type of voice. The girls really have invented their own genre. They don't really sound like anyone else. They always break their influences into musical elements and do their own thing with it. They are breaking more new ground than anyone else I know of right now.
Saiki's vocals strike me as most of all "natural." Nothing fake or posing about it. And always working to improve, like all of them. And that little yodel near the end... super touch.
Many of the old rock bands got tired of writing similar songs, or made songs that were too complicated to be understood. The disappointed rock fan hid "behind the rock" for a while, but ate Kanami's elaborate bait. She knows what's cool. They are swimming out of the shade of the rock. It's a big catch! I think Band-Maid is a good fisherman, for example.

Yessssss!
This song is simply one great solo from MISA.
I noticed that you haven't done a reaction to NEMOPHILA yet. They are another J-Rock band composed of members of other bands and have been together jamming for a little over a year. I think every Band-Maid fan out there would especially enjoy their latest single SORAI.
yes NEMOPHILA is amazing
I agree. One of those rare bands whose every release I have liked. Like Band-Maid, they have a blast playing together, and their qualities are top notch.
The True and NEW "Progressive Rock Band".
