I watch and rewatch this video. It has a special power, it draws me in like a vortex. After something like tenth time I realised that the child on the stairs IS the snake. Then I went to Internet in search of what is the symbolism of white snakes in Japanese cultures, and found the following amazing piece of information: +++++++++++++++++ serpentsanctum.com/benzaiten-white-snake-goddess-of-japan/ Benzaiten: White Snake Goddess of Japan Benzaiten is a Japanese water goddess of fertility and flow-of rivers and waters, language and poetry, music, dance, and abundant wealth and good fortune. Shintō priests and practitioners will always try to avoid harming a snake if they come across such an animal in daily life-in fact, encountering a live snake is considered an extremely lucky omen, while encountering a dead one is considered a sign of misfortunes to come. +++++++++++++++++ Then it all became much clearer. The Goddess is watching the world, and she cries, because people do all sort of horrendous things. That's a very powerful message. The Earth is sacred, the human life is sacred, how dare we to throw our garbage on the ground, and take another person's life? You may recall the famous anime Spirited Away: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spirited_Away by Hayao Miyazaki. There's an episode there, where a river god comes to the bath, ugly and contaminated and disgusting and oozing dirt. Initially, they think it's a god of garbage dumps or something, but after they clean and wash him, it turns out he's actually a pure and holy River God. So, this sort of imagery is not new for the Japanese. Miku just picked up a very familiar theme from her own national lore and turned it into a great message for the world they've just conquered.
Vladimir Chupin Cool research. I hadn’t put it together before, but there are several parts of the Monogatari anime that take place at a fictional Shirahebi Shrine. Shira=white, hebi=snake.

You may say this song was their PhD on Western music. But it's as authentically BAND-MAID as any other. However, the video itself is based entirely on the Japanese lore, and it's no wonder. Then it all became much clearer.

That series builds its stories off of lots of Japanese myths and legends, so this is very well-known symbolism in Japan, it seems.
Nice reaction guys and the song made me think: " Ah - Lenny Kravitz evolved into 5 great Ladies in Maid outfits " great - - cya
Nah, I'm going back to Nightwish
Please react to BTS’s brand new single “ON”. You won’t be disappointed! It’s AWESOME!!!
bts-on, please
I like the song, but I don't like the video. Not Band-Maid at all. Watch it closely and you will see it's has a big western influence.
You may say this song was their PhD on Western music. But it's as authentically BAND-MAID as any other. However, the video itself is based entirely on the Japanese lore, and it's no wonder. Miku is deeply rooted in her own culture. The White Snake, turning into a child and back into snake, is the Goddess Benzaiten, a Japanese water goddess of fertility and flow-of rivers and waters, language and poetry, music, dance, and abundant wealth and good fortune. Benzaiten is the only female figure within “The Seven Lucky Gods” (known as the Shichi Fukujin) of Japanese Shintōism, and most often appears with a white snake as her headdress. Dragons and serpents are her messengers and avatars, and she herself can appear as a white snake. Benzaiten is one of Japan’s most widely venerated deities.
And the Goddess is crying because we humans do terrible things.

@@VladimirChupin Exactly. When I watched this video at the first time, l remembered 千と千尋の神隠し(Spirit Away)immediately. And this video reminds me of both Hiroshima and Fukushima. When Miku and Saiki appeared a FM station in Hiroshima for promotion of CONQUEROR, Miku told they could make the world peace with their songs.
Vladimir Chupin I'm sorry you disagree. But I will stick to my original comment. Showing only westerners and showing footage of a 75 year old conflict I don't think is the Japanese way. Also there are images that are supposed to be of bad things happening and are not. This is totally a western concept. And you are also saying that whoever came up with this idea has to be Japanese because no other person would know about these gods.
@@Junior-hy6hh Vlad did not disagree with you. He gave you concert evidence of how you missed the point completely. You must not have watched the video which clearly shows Japanese troops in Manchuria in 1937. You don't like it fine. You want Band-Maid to be some vacuous mindless entertainment fine. But do not expect that from the rest of us. Maybe this is just not the right band for you? Because if they ever followed the path you would prefer l would drop this band like a hot rock. Band-Maid is not for everybody. Simple as that and trying to please everyone will lead to pleasing no one. Good day to you.
@@sacluvsBM It is very apparent that you did not read neither of our comments or you could plainly see that he did disagree with me. I said not Band-Maid, he said is Band-Maid. Also I never said I didn't like Band-Maid, I said this video is not Band-Maid. It is very clear this video has a heavy western influence. A non-Asian producer, a non-Asian writer, and all English lyrics. A video filled with non-Asian concepts. I've been listening to Band-Maid almost exclusively since early 2016. The first time I heard "Thrill" I thought they are the greatest band I've ever heard. You do not have the privilege of telling me what is right for me or what I can listen to just because you disagree with me.
