Did I miss the part where these studies actually showed or explained what led them to these results? I’m no scientist here, but I just can’t rely on a study where it’s core foundation is coming from a questionnaire. I could potentially see a study saying that eating more eggs can potentially raise cholesterol, which could potentially lead to cardiovascular issues. But the problem I have with that is that I believe a lot of traditional doctors are not measuring cholesterol correctly. With cholesterol, simply saying the number is “high” doesn’t really mean anything unless you define the health of those cells. Specifically with the LDLs…what percentage is healthy and what percentage are damaged/oxidized.

I don’t think eggs themselves are the problem. If you boil or poach them, they’re very nutritious. If you fry them in butter and have bacon or sausage with them, then it becomes a problem. I know that Mastering Diabetes needs to keep making videos like all other food “teachers” out there, but if you eat a low fat sensible diet, I would not worry. All my Scandinavian family and ancestors eat lots of eggs and seafood like herring, salmon and mackerel and they’ve all lived into their 90’s except for the smokers.

I eat two hard-boiled eggs several times a week, usually with my salad. I also eat fish, shrimp, and turkey that are baked without breading, served without sauces or gravy. I am not on a keto diet, nor a vegan diet. I have cut out all refined sugar, bread, and starchy potatoes, no soda, and limited dairy. I basically just eat in smaller, healthy portions of whole foods. I remember eating 2 egg mcmuffins (egg, canadian bacon, english muffin) at McDonalds. If I ate their deep fried hash browns (spreaded potatoes held together with saturated or hydrogenated fats) my blood pressure went up 10 to 15 mm Hg.
Years later one of the biggest lowerings of cholesterol was giving up grilled sausage patty (ground pork, spices and sugar)and one egg, but still eating 2 over easy eggs, bacon, ham and half a platter of hash browns (grilled on the flat top) but no toast or juice. That reduction was enough to get me off cholesterol meds. I also reduced my metformin fro 800 mg 3x day to 500 mg 3x per day with that change. So I wonder if sausage isn't the biggest culprit.
Eggs will also soak up a lot of oil or grease in fried eggs. On the weekend I could eat 2 hard boiled eggs and be satisfied enough to go longer between meals. I tell people to poach or boil their eggs and not to fry them.
I did read and follow "Mastering Diabetes" in November 2020 and gave up meat, fishn and eggs. Lost 50 lbs in 10 months with the help of walking and intermittent fasting and got off all medications with A1C down to 5.7 (started at 7.5 a few years earlier). Back up to A1C of 6.0 with gaining 15 pound back with occasional bread or potatoes. I get insulin spikes with potatoes, bread, and most fruits. So I go back to berries and sweet potatoes and try to keep the nuts and seeds down to 30 grams of fat per day. I seem to have best weight lost with handfull of flaxseed daily.

I would need more information about what is ate along side the eggs, (and what type of egg is consumed such as organic or eggs from pasture fed chickens). If a person is eating eggs (cheap commercial eggs) at a restaurant such as Dennys that uses cooking oil that is a seed oil, and a breakfast that includes deep fried hash browns, a high carb toast, margarine instead of organic butter, and then some sausage or bacon that isn't uncured, that would make a difference when compared to someone eating eggs at home with healthier organic side dishes and complex carbohydrates. I don't eat a lot of eggs but I eat my share, and my type two diabetes has improved, along with my weight, which has decreased by 40 pounds in two years. Correlating something such as eggs, to causing something such as diabetes, needs to take into account other factors besides the eggs, such as how the eggs are consumed (restaurant or at home), what kind of eggs they are (pasture/organic chicken eggs or grain fed chicken eggs from chickens in a cage), what is ate along with the eggs ( as I have already mentioned), what the person is eating the rest of the day and how much (carbs and calories), the amount of exercise a person is getting daily, and probably some other things I haven't thought of as of yet. Be careful with RUclips advice on a subject. As we used to say in College, a clever person can bend statistics to agree with whatever he or she wants the statistics to agree with. Correlation is the key to understanding statistics and cause and effect.

  • @ab78001

I'm wondering if the fatty acid profile of these eggs was properly analyzed. Because unless the chickens are truly pasture- raised and allowed to eat their natural diet, their eggs are extremely high in polyunsaturated fat, which we know are extremely pro-inflammatory and lead to system-wide cellular damage which cripples cellular respiration. And then of course, depending on the person's unique genetic vulnerability, somebody might develop diabetes, somebody else might develop atherosclerosis, and so on. Not all eggs are created equal.

    • @adamp9553
      @adamp9553 Год назад +3

Same with a plant base lifestyle, can’t just eat fruits and plants all day either. I like to have a balance of both. Not a diabetic here. Hadn’t eaten much meat really, but ate lots of eggs and dairy and cooked with oil. Fried eggs in butter quite a bit. Could never bring my weight below 192 (BMI was rock solid in the low 30’s), could never muster the motivation to work out much because of joint pain and just being too tired, was having problems of a TMI nature, and pretty much felt like I was watching helplessly as age was putting all my favorite hikes and backpacking trips out of reach. Switched to WFPB in early September after watching Game Changers for the 2nd time and within a week or so, started losing weight, my TMI (one of the earliest indicators of cardiovascular disease) problem went away, and on a backpacking trip in the Olympics, was blown away by my endurance. Now 4 months later, I can stuff myself with sweet potatoes or air fried potato wedges, whole grain pasta, my 100% whole wheat bread (heavier bread) with fresh ground peanut butter,or some other carb and fiber loaded meal and not feel like I just ate a gut bomb. And my weight, even after chugging water, only occasionally gets above 180. And a lot of the retained weight has been gained muscle. I have felt so good, there really is no temptation to ever going back to eggs and butter for breakfast or cheesy pizza.

Tomato Vegetables: spaghetti and/or pizza sauce with added oils, cheeses, and meat? Served (topped) with pepperoni, sausage, cheese or meatballs?
    Beans: with ground hamburger?
Of course that could make vegetables look bad just like broccoli or cauliflower topped with Velveeta.

well, one thing that is not controlled in any of those studies is the composition of food intake. If you eat 2 eggs for each breakfast with lots of refined carbs or direct sugar, then ou send contradicting signals to the body. If you however, eat eggs alone, with olive oil, and 0 carbs.... I can not imagine ANY mechanism that would favor DM TII.
The ratio of sat fats in relation to total fats respective unsat fats btw is almost the recommended one, and those 3.5g surely not responsible for developing DM TII.
You can emphasize 20(00) times that you are science based.. I don't buy any of the conclusions. I am myself a scientist.
Framingham was also science based, and a lot of crap has been published declared as science. The fact that here are a few studies claiming that eggs increase risk for TII COULD be just the same hoax as all those 1000s of studies about cholesterol and CVD.
My friend, it is the biological mechanism, not the statistical pseudo-magic that is important

God made the Egg and the Chicken, new scientific studies show the egg and the whites both have protein that are good for you, don't throw away the yolk, it has most of the protein and has a natural fat emulsifier , God knew what he was doing when he made the Egg! being excessive is the key to eating anything, the American diet, eat way way to much sugar this is the real problem! just stick to Whole Foods , that is real food, no processed stuff manmade like Frankenstein foods, and margarines eat real butter from a cow, like grass-fed butter from a grass fed cow! In the 70s even intill this day people have been running around with a big gulp soda pop in their hands, sipping that sugar all day, its no wander, theirs a blood sugar problem today in this era! Excessiveness !!!!!!!!!!!!! even too much of a good thing can lead to problems, you can't just blame it on meat and eggs! which are good for you!

The issues to consider: the main one is that if eggs are fryed in seed oils then this is toxic, also if cooked/fryed too much any PUFA'S in the eggs also become toxic. Also many people that eat a lot of eggs dont consume enough fruit and veg. Personally I take my eggs and mainly duck eggs (we want to avoid eggs from chemicalised mainly grain fed housed unhealthy chickens) usually raw like the Japanese.

Epidemiological (uncontrolled data-biased) studies are inaccurate and cannot be used to establish causation even when mixed with other similar studies and using advanced multiple variable correlations, period. I comb my hair every day, but my comb does not cause my hair loss (even over a large period of time). Healthy eggs from pasture raised hens contain vitamins, minerals and healthy saturated fats essential for growth and longevity, especially for brain health in old age. Any predator in the wild who wants a quick and easy food source will go for the eggs in the nest first, then the young. We are predators, not ruminants or similar prey animals. Real eggs are real food. RR of CHD 2.02 for men and RR of 1.49 for women means a relative risk compared to what? There is no placebo, no absolute reference for the study. Without a measure of absolute risk there is no real world information conveyed in these types of mathematical exercises.

These studies seem to only include whole eggs which contain both the fat and the cholesterol. I'm also curious about egg whites alone. No fat no cholesterol but animal protein. One of my favorite things is a breakfast frittata of egg whites, and loaded with vegetables: spinach mushrooms peppers onions. No fat if prepared in a non-stick pan. Mastering Diabetes system does adhere to a vegan, very low fat diet, but I'm wondering if a few egg whites here and there would be harmful to T2 diabetics for those with insulin resistance. Animal products high in saturated fats, but egg whites are an exception.
