    My oldest son is in his early 20's and he has type 1 diabetes. But thank God for this piece of article ruclips.net/user/postUgkxibD_L3sDyYENL5CwePCd9plRBqjzw2mw At first he thought he had the flu and was lying down on the bed for three days until his sister took him to the hospital. They took his blood and it was 600. What I do not understand is how he could have gotten it, since no one in the family has it. But he is winning the battle now. This is a good stuff.

    I was trying to control my insulin-dependent DM with a low carb and keto diet. It did not work. My insulin resistance was sky high. I was taking 150-200 unit of insulin daily and rarely had a BS below 150. I decided to go “whole-hog” and do the Mastering Diabetes. I’m having great control on only 60-70 units a day. I feel a lot better for sure and my BS are always running below 150! I eat fruits like crazy. No meat, dairy, eggs, fish, oils or butter. I was also starting to have chest pains and that disappeared!! I would have died on Keto/Lo-Carb diet and stupidity! Thanks you two adventurers!

    So true about the Ketogenic diet. My husband is Type 2 and he got his blood sugar under control doing the ketogenic diet. A1C went from about a 9 to 5.7 within a year, but I am totally convinced the year that we did that the diet did damage to his heart. He is now on a heart transplant list. Within that year his ejection fraction went from 40 to 16! We started following a WFPB no SOS August 25, 2021. His A!C is 6.1 now and he is on heart transplant list, but we are praying that this new lifestyle will prevent him from ever having to have the heart transplant. Thank you for the information you provide! Lisa T

      It's very highly likely that the prior years on the Standard American Diet damaged his heart. It takes decades for the damage to build up. A high A1C is one of the strongest indicators of heart disease risk. High cholesterol isn't even in the top ten. This not only speaks to heart disease risk but most chronic diseases. Prayers for your husband 🙏✝️🙏.

    This is very good information. I was hard core into the Keto diet. But it is 100% true that most people using it for weight loss plateau after about 3-6 months. Also it does increase insulin sensitivity. You "WILL" see gains on keto. But for long term it's not ideal.

    I would ferment nuts like almond, chickpea, walnet in rocksalt water for 16 hours and then dry them and grind them into a flour to make bread, bun, pizza bread, pasta instead of grains, which is very energetic. I eat unsweet fruits like banana, kiwi fruit, guava, mango, pineapple, apple, orange in small quantity like 200 grams per day. Iwould make sure the fruits are bit unripened and they should not be sweet, this causes less glucose in my body.

How long will it take to clear out a hight amount in the system of fat which affects the insulin? I was on a ZERO fat, vegan diet 'because Dr. Barnard said it would reverse my diabetes' and my blood sugar skyrocketed. I was running to the bathroom every 40 minutes all night long. Thirsty, dizzy, dragging tired. And no matter how many more symptoms of high blood sugar I experienced, I just stayed on that path for 5+ months. One day I had rice and vegetables. That's it. And felt so sick I didn't eat the rest of the day or most of the other day. And when I checked my blood sugar after 20 hours of no food - it had come down to 162. Which means on plant based, my blood sugar must have been over 300. So I went back to low carb "Wheat Belly" and I felt better. But it took 5-6 days before I felt normal again. So what the Hell happened? There must be something else going on here other than fat in the diet - when I was using NO ADDED FAT or eating high fat plant foods for months. I did what Barnard and other's like him said, "Eat plant starches, plus vegetables and fruits. I stayed away from avocados, nuts, seeds, etc., I never added oils to my food. I watched Dr. Gabriel Cousens' documentary last night and there was a woman who the same happened to her during the first 2 weeks - but then her diabetes began to improve. But this was over 5+months. And I'm not that advanced of a diabetic - or at least I wasn't until I tried going vegan. I think my last blood test said my AC1 was 6.8-7.1. And I was hoping to reverse this before things got worse for me. I'll try vegan again and eliminate rice, potatoes, corn. But I think I need the beans for extra protein and fiber and add that to water vegetables and .....lower my intake of fruit?
    When I saw some of your other videos, from 2014 on - you guys were eating A LOT OF FRUIT. So how can watermelon and berries affect my blood sugar so dramatically? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

      Starchy carbs cause diabetes because it increases serotonin, Antidepressant medications (SSRIS) are linked to diabetes, it's through the same mechanism.
      Sugar (Fruits) do not increase serotonin as much as starch does, it is more beneficial for blood sugar than starch. So if you did a low fat high sugar diet with no starchy carbs like rice, pasta, potatoes you will improve diabetes.

    • @User-pz4re
      @User-pz4re 2 года назад

      Fructose inhibits the insulin spike caused by glucose, so it reduces the tendency to store fat. Pure glucose spikes your blood sugar moreso.
      Complex carbohydrates store fat, simple carbohydrates don't.

      I followed the advice in The Mayo Clinic Diabetes Diet book written by Donald D. Hensrud. I lost 30 pounds and as I lost weight my blood sugar would gradually go down (on Januvia and metformin at the time, and now only on metformin). This diet recommends a serving of fruit with meals and nonstarchy vegetables with meals. During each meal you measure the amount of protein, carbohydrate, and fat(very low fat) you eat and determine how much you have based on how many calories you want to eat in a day. It emphasizes a predominantly whole foods plant based diet with whole grains. This diet did wonders for me. Hope it can help you too.

    I just want to be on the most optimal diet for my health. Following the diet prescribed here seems like a massive roll of the dice.
    Professor Tim Spector’s studies into the gut microbiome, has revealed that our blood sugar response to foods is unique to all humans. In trials, Identical twins were given starchy foods and found one had a huge blood sugar response while the other flatlined. In layman’s terms it appears that the gut microbiome is the gatekeeper of our response to the foods we eat.
    Its outlined in his book that if you want to design the optimal diet, get a CGM and observe how your body responds as an individual, to certain foods.

      From a scientific view, they are not needed nor wanted by the body. Just do a little honest research and you will find that out. Take a good look at Cyrus and Robby, do they really look healthy to you? The body needs fat and protein, it does not need carbohydrates. If you want truth, research the Randle Cycle.

    Dr. Cyrus Khambatta and Robby Barbaro sure seem to be stumbling over the artificial sweetener question. It seems like they just don't want to admit that (although it may be unhealthy in other ways) artificial sweeteners are better for diabetics than sugar. I've been very successful with the Mastering Diabetes diet, but there have been 2 things that I've never been able to give up, diet soda & salt.🤓
