      I NEVER ATE JUNK FOOD. BUT NOT DIETING. FAMILY COOKING MEDITERRANEAN. AFRICAN ARAB COOKING. LOW FAT MOSTLY, BREAD, STEWS AND SALADS. i WAS ALAWAYS HUNGRY WITH A SNACK IN MY POCKET. From age 13 and on, always overweight and starving myself to stay at 4 pounds over my ideal weight. Discovered Atkins in the 90s. FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE, I WAS NO LONGER HUNGRY CONTINUOUSLY! But Atkins did not restrict calories and my weight loss stalled. I gave up but never went back to sugar, pasta, rice and potatoes. The snacking was gone. Years passed by. I restarted not Atkins but the keto this time. I had found ketones! But by them I was menopaused. I did well at first, and then stalled again. I was counting calories, this time. After a year, an influencer I followed (Mat Lauer) said that you should cycle out of keto every 3 to 6 months. I gained back 10 pounds in 6 months. The last 2 months I watch blood glucose spiking foods: I lowered saturated fat consumption, introduced back tofu and beans in moderation along with greens that I already was consuming, fiber and berries. My appetite is under control. I drink 10-12 cups water/ lemon water. When I feel like eating a date, I do that after a full meal with animal and plant protein, avocado and nut/ eggs salad. I feel balanced. I am not vegan, keto, carnivore or anything else: I watch out to keep carbs low enough but not to 20 or 30 grams per day. AND I COUNT MY CALORIE INTAKE!
      I also never walk less than 4,000 steps/day. My average is 8,000 steps. I love my smartwatch reminding me that I have to get up and move. lol. Long and twisted journey. You do not have to embrace 1 religion: they all worship the same god. Not a single diet makes you gain weight if followed religiously. But which lifestyle will you adopt? Not a diet: find your lifestyle. good luck everybody! Remember your sleep and your prayers and meditation. breathing exercises.

I lost 43 pounds in 5 months. 4 years later, life changed unfavorably, I let candy ice cream chips back in, gained 8 pounds every year until I was 33 pounds heavier. Last year Dr. Ekbergs intermittent fasting entered. Went 16:8, lost 17 pounds in 2 months. Stayed IF, but weight loss stalled.
    Started ADF last week. Lost 7 pounds. Gonna stay this course for a while. Eat GBOMBS on eating days.

    I'm really confused. Over the past weeks I've listened to doctors advocating keto and carnivore diets. They seem very restrictive but many people wrote to say they have been following these diets for years and never felt better. One doctor said that grains and spices are unhealhy and even dangerous. I make an Ayurveda mix of 7 spices to add to my tea so now wonder how safe it is. I'm 81, 1m65 (5ft5"), have always weighed 120lbs (55k) and am in good health so I must be doing something right but am really not sure what's best to eat. I bet I'm not the only one puzzled.

      Dear Re I have been a diabetic for over 20 years, although not educated, rice and beans are just as bad as sugarbeans are high in starches. I have spoken to Dr john mcdougall who wants us to be starchovoures. When I say how my sugar rises very high, he recommends I take some insulin. I am against meds of any kind so I don't see why I would take insulin.
      Any one eating a starchy diet like Dr john recommends, are at risk of a stroke or blood clot causing a heart attack. I was shock when I heard the Dr died a few days ago. I have attributed his sudden death to his starch diet. I feel he had a stroke in the night although we were not told. I say his potatoe and rice diet caused his death.
      I love Dr Furhman,s knowledge of food because he makes a lot of sense.

      I think it has been shown that eating high glycemic foods with protein and fiber lowers the glycemic load. But perhaps it’s still not as low as if you’d eaten the protein and fiber without the white bread or white rice? The confusing thing is that the nutrition labels for white and brown rice aren’t that different. The fiber content is only a gram or two different between the two. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    I'm having a small diet issue. My fasting glucose is on the high side (110). I've fully converted to nutritarian about 2 weeks ago and still see some spikes from my 1 cup of beans and maybe a cup of quinoa. This week I took out the beans and added 3-4 ounces of animal protein/day. Everything else stays the same. After about 4 days my fasting glucose is down massively to 80. I'm struggling with this. I'm eating incredibly clean and at a caloric deficit daily (1,500). I'd rather have beans than meat. I tested it again and took out the meat (in place of beans) and added back the cup of beans (different kinds but mostly black lentils) and my fasting glucose shot back up to 110. I'm thinking of maybe using 1/4 to 1/2 cup of beans daily but keeping the once daily dose (4 ounces) of meat. I am losing weight.

      Sorry,I was wrong about the focus on raw food. But Dr Fuhrman suggests eating GBOMBS:
      G=Greens
      B=Beans
      O=Onion(raw)
      M=Mushrooms(cooked)
      B=Berries
      S=Seeds and Nuts
      Dr Fuhrman explains in his books how these 6 foods/categories of foods are essential.

    Please discuss Walter Kempner's Rice Diet, which McDougall sometimes recommended for extremely ill patients. White rice and fruit juice is almost completely backwards from your recommendations here.

    • @drfuhrman
      @drfuhrman  3 месяца назад +15

      Hi @bhami.
      While Dr. Kempner's approach showed some benefits for severely ill patients in the short term, it's important to understand the context. The Rice Diet was primarily used as a temporary, therapeutic intervention for extreme cases, not as a long-term nutrition plan.
      The nutritarian approach aims to maximize nutrient density and overall health in the long term. White rice and fruit juice, while potentially useful in specific short-term scenarios, don't provide the broad spectrum of nutrients needed for optimal health over time.
      Our current understanding of nutrition has evolved significantly since Kempner's time. We now know the importance of phytochemicals, fiber, and the wide array of micronutrients found in a diverse, plant-rich diet.
      While historical approaches like the Rice Diet have their place in medical history, I believe the nutritarian diet offers a more comprehensive, sustainable approach to health and longevity based on the latest nutritional science.

    This is the 2nd video back to back I've watched tonight. I feel like I must have been living on a different planet than you have. At least you did mention that there are nefarious agendas that are poisoning our food and drink along with everything else that we need on this planet to survive. If what you have said as in a medical book were in fact the only invaders or the only situations that cause our early demise we might be able to accomplish your goals for good health and reversing diabetes wouldn't that be wonderful. Unfortunately we do not live on the corner of perfect. No mention was made of contaminated poisonous meds, intentional by the way, including the many vaccines that are pushed into us not just from birth as I've recently found out, but even when we are in the womb now. And it doesn't seem that is worth mention towards mortality? That's a subject for another time, but the qualifications you say that will cause diabetes isn't even the only cause. My son is a perfect example of being totally opposite to what you have said. So many things that you've said on this video haven't even been heard of in the world I live in!? And I assure you that most Drs are not informing their patients what you are saying. So is it any wonder then that when people do not get the correct information from the so called Dr being paid by us to properly inform and treat our health issues and being paid by a few freaks that think they own the world and us in it, they seem to take sides with the better paying and convincing side!? Why aren't you going around the country to present the scientific data and study results to we the people? Now I am mad that you have known these things and yet no one I know has ever mentioned any of them!? My son deserves better than this! By the way we live in Kansas in case want to come and help us and many others that are dealing with everything we are!? It would have been a great listen to otherwise! But my son won't believe me and it's going to be hard for even a health care provider bc he's heard all his life that type 1 diabetes is incurable so his mindset is just that. Well I know a man named Jesus who came here and died for all our sins in order that we would choose to live a life for him and not go to hell. He has a father who knows everything and he says that you are all wrong about life and death. He is the Alpha and Omega and there are people who are telling the truth about diseases, they have been created by evil men!😂

    Fibre is not essential. In fact find any evidence on the planet where it states fibre is essential for life. I am carnivore and have no issue whatsoever. Those pre humans and humans living through the ice age survived mostly on ruminant meat and required no fibre. Fibre in fact causes irritation and is not absorbed by the human body. We are not herbivores specifically designed to make SCFAs from fibre. We do to a very small extent, but not for energy purposes which is what hindgut and ruminant fermenters do. Look at our digestive tract and our stomach acidity. Ph of 1.5, find me a herbivore that requires a ph of 1.5 to digest plant food excluding rabbits because they need high acidity to break down their poo which they eat called coprophagy and most importantly kill off pathogens which exists in such a practices and being very low to the ground they are more prone to bacterial pathogens. Humans were scavengers which is another reason we needed high acidity to not only digest protein but ward off bacteria.

Keeping the saturated fat and garbage animal products out of my diet brought my numbers down and that's with eating TONS of fruit. Well over 400g carbs and 80g fiber a day and a lot of that is from fruit. My bloodwork is perfect and I work out every day.
