@@theplasmacollider6431 You don't need carbs really. There is no such thing as "essential" carbs. Essential fats and proteins, absolutely. You will die without them. You don't die without carbs. Here's the thing, at any give time, there's about 2.1 grams of carbs/sugars required by your system and coursing though it. Now, mind you, those do go up during intense exercise, but generally, about 2-3 grams of carbs./sugars are required.
There's this thing, called gluconeogenesis. Turning fats into sugar. So, on a high fat diet like Keto, as long as you're getting enough fat, you can make whatever carbs you need. There are many levels/variations of this kind of diet too. Like "modified" keto, it's keto with a bit more carbs. and no ketosis. Some people cannot handle straight keto and must modify it. Like the CEO of the American DIabetes Association. She manages her Diabetes with modified keto. And the A.D.A. endorses low carb. high fat diets. Fredrick Banting treated Diabetic patients, before inventing insulin, with the kind of diets. Rollo proved it with the carnivore diet, way back in 1797.

Following Dr. Berg's recommendations starting in 2017, I've done all of this. Got rid of the sugars, the grains, the processed oils, fruit except a few berries; lost weight, lost all the pain I was carrying around in my body, lost my inflexibility, lost my vision blurriness, lost my skin tags and brown armpits, lost having to go to the bathroom numerous times at night, lost my sugar and carb cravings, and I'm 65. I feel better now and am thinner than I was after 8th grade. I know I was having hypoglycemia already at age 6 in first grade; now I can go 72 hours without eating and not even notice.
Great advice in your video. Thanks.

Good video! Two months ago, my A1C level of 5.8 put me into the prediabetes category. Even though I thought my doctor was going to suggest something like Metformin when he said I needed to address my blood sugar, he instead said I needed to do the following: No more sugar or hidden sugars; no more bread; no more potatoes; no more rice; only eat foods that were not considered "high" on the glycemic index. Additionally, walk 30 minutes a day for at least 5 days of each week. So that is what I have done. I've already lost 12 lbs and some of my morning aches and pains. The only thing I've really missed is my craft beers, as beer is "liquid bread" when it comes to the glycemic index (however, he did approve of my nightly nightcap of a shot of bourbon). I'm hoping my A1C test in October will also reflect the results of my efforts.

Specifically, the A1C test measures what percentage of hemoglobin proteins in blood are coated with sugar (glycated). Anything that prevents the high spikes in blood sugar, to include not eating foods that spike the blood sugar, will help lower the A1C. AS for the exercise and weight loss, they will help too. When it comes to exercise, it is better to do so right after eating than to wait, say two hours, after eating.

Some authorities think that intermittent fasting is unnecessary. If you don't eat between dinner and breakfast, that's almost 12 hours, and as we know, the first meal of the day is called break fast. If you drive sugar and starch way down in your diet, make sure you get enough protein, leafy greens and regular vegetables every day, with about 4 ounces of cheese, and a little cream allowed, you'll feel like $1 million, and all your blood numbers will be correct. You can have sugar every once in a while. Just not frequently.

I was diagnosed with Type II about just shy of 2 weeks ago. My A1C was over 10, my blood sugar was coming in around 368. I'm 11 days out from that, my blood sugar has been under 120 consistently. Basically what I'm saying is I reversed Type II in under 2 weeks. How? I cut out sweet tea/lemonade and went to coffe with stevia and spring water sometimes with squeezed lemon. My food has been a cut above from what many would be used to. Steel Cut oatmeal with fresh fruits or Eggs and Sausage or Ham steak for breakfast, Enchilada Casserole or Chicken/Beef Kafta for lunch, often with pico de gallo or tabouli (slightly less bulgur wheat than usual), and Pork chops with broccoli (salted and sprayed with lemon juice), okra, whatever. If I need a snack, I eat roasted peanuts from the shell and cashews. I try to keep my plate ratio 1/2 veggies and 1/2 meats with some fats. I walk around the block twice a day (about 20 mins each time) and do 3 sets of 4 arm exercises with 10lb weights. I did all of this in the midst of fighting Acute Myeloid Leukemia, Lung Cancer and Myelodysplatic Syndrome. You can beat diabetes into submission if you're willing to be disciplined. Just shop the produce and meat section, avoid the starchy vegetables and sweet drinks and you'll be surprised.

    1) no fat free packaged / processed foods - high glycemic over 75 glycemic index which spikes your blood sugar.
    2) condiments, sauces and dressings with sugars
    3) fruits that aren't dark berries
    4) candy, candy bars
    5) fruit and sugar flavored yogurts
    6) breakfast cereals - even low sugar cereals tend to be over 50 glycemic index
    7) breakfast spreads and jams
    8) animal fat
    9) fried foods and meats
    10) trans fats like margarines
    11) processed meats - waste meat processed with sugars and chemicals
    12) trans fats
    13) omega 6 fats
    14) nutrition and fiber free food - potato chips, fried potato snacks, chip like snacks (Cheetos, Doritos, etc)
    15) sugary drinks, even skim milk, store bought pasteurized fruit juices and fruit smoothies, although fresh made at home juices and smoothies can be much better
    16) diet soda. CARBONATED WATER ALONE isn't bad for you, sodas with phosphates and other added ingredients aren't okay.
    17) alcohol especially if already prediabetic
    18) high fructose corn syrup, foods and drinks with added sugars
    19) fast food
    Instead:
    - natural whole foods
    - no store bought processes foods
    - whole grain
    - intermittent fasting - HUGE BENEFITS FOR EVERYONE INCLUDING TYPE 2 DIABETES. It's one of the best things you can do but companies can't make money off it so Big Agriculture, Big Food and Big Pharma never mention it.

When I eat 100gms of watermelon, my glucose peaks at about 8.1 in 15 minutes. Within 30 minutes, it is down to 5.2. If you wait for 60 minutes to test, you will miss the spike and assume the food has nearly a zero GI. Eat something and start testing at 5 minute intervals. Chart the results. Track the results and watch your body become less insulin resistant. That kind of feedback is invaluable. It also helps you decide on portion sizes for certain foods. Test more often if you want a complete picture. Waiting 90 minutes to test is a BAD idea.

For the most part I like your food list however I have an issue with fruits, if you check with your glucometer most fruits will spike your glucose very high, bananas are among the worse I know I've tested it.

At 31, I had a heart attack and underwent stent placement in the LAD. Pre-heart attack, my diet included heavy carbohydrates, contributing to health issues like skin disease, GERD, H. Pylori, depression, diabetes, and obesity. On statins for 24 years, I weigh 165 lbs at 55.
Over 11 months, I shed 35 lbs with a keto/carnivore diet, cutting sugar and carbs. Eat meat every day like beef steak. I began with a 12-hour intermittent fasting, transitioning to 4 months of OMAD, coupled with a 15-minute intensive exercise routine. Lab results post-diet change: A1c dropped from 6.5 to 5.4 triglycerides from 178 to 83, cholesterol from 188 to 192, LDL from 91 to 110, and HDL from 61 to 65.
Despite improvements, my cardiologist dismisses the carnivore diet, ignoring RUclips testimonials. Currently on 20mg statin (was 80mg, then 40mg, without informing my cardiologist). I might d/c my statin completely.

I have my type 2 fixed.
Watch out starch and sugar, ultra processed food including seed oil.
Natural fat is good even saturated fat (it can help you reduce hunger)
Eating order can affect starch absorbtion. Eat fat and protein first and leave starch and fruits at last.
Moreover, intermittent fasting actually helps reducing insulin resistance.
If you want to find out which food increase blood glucose, get CGM wear on and see it yourself and you'll realize fat triggers the least insulin and protein triggers a bit more (yes, red meat triggers not much as others thought)

I kept hearing for the last year or so, loud in my ear, in my spirit. You don't need any food. You don't have to eat anything. Perhaps my greater angels. So I've been partial fasting. And if I do get hungry, I eat the tiniest little thing like an orange or some nuts, a few crackers like 3 of them with slices of Am Cheese. Or an egg with a slice of Pepperidge farm Thin sliced bread. One slice is a half a slice. If I crave and I have it, like Ice Cream, I will take one spoon full. I've even eaten my meals with a baby spoon. I'm 69 yrs old. And slowly slowly, I don't want any food. Yesterday I went to a Bible study, the girls have dishes they make and they bring in egg casseroles and cut up fruit every week and baked good. I had a little egg casserole yesterday and it made me a little sick the portion may have been less than 1/2 and egg. I just don't want to eat. Its not hard at all. Just ease into it. I do have a fatty liver and acid reflux. I reduced coffee to one cup a day and I was a coffee diva all my life. And I'm taking the Body Biotic SBOs pro biotics for cleansing. A new development is when I eat and I've had enough, and there is that last fork full and I know I don't want it, I force it. And when its in my my mouth my body rejects it and I spit it out. Looks like I'm winning. Thank you Doctor now I will stop eating .

I write now about my story concerning all you said. Up until about February 5th my nutrition was something similar of many bad foods and habits you mentioned. Not as worse as the majority in the US. On the 5th Crohn‘s disease was diagnosed and a little before I already changed my nutrition a bit but now none of the bad things in your video you will find in my fridge or anywhere else in my Appartement. I am not going to any restaurant anymore because of the chunk I get. I quit smoking, alcohol since years, all it needs to fight the inflammation of the gut. It‘s not healable anyway but I can keep it somehow under control. Due to some huge weight loss I even get some special drinks to gain a little. At the moment I am also treated with some very expansive Medication with infusion. All paid by my insurance. Actually the limit of what I have to pay myself per year was reached within 2 month. $1000. Any further bills will be paid full by the insurance. Now think twice about your health system in context with an insurance in the US. An insurance is the first and a must over here. Anyone must have one. Of course if you are young you might change the plan to pay a little less but if you at risk you better chose a better plan. If you have none living in the US then all your assets melt like butter. BTW: Even immigrants gets treated over here. Many do not welcome them but we are not animals. That is the major difference between us an you as US. Think twice who you are going to elect!

We will all die, but do you want to spend the last ten years of your life in and out of hospitals, struggling physically, needing a walker or wheelchair, losing limbs a piece at a time, and so on. I see the results everyday at work of a lax attitude regarding diet and exercise. Their suffering goes through my mind as motivation to go to the gym and push harder and to not give an inch regarding the foods that I eat. For me, "moderation" leads to the wall falling away completely.
