My A1c then was 9.5 and i was feeling horrible.....swollen ankles, tired all the time, severe headaches at night. Now at age 64 i feel 30 yrs younger, have lost 78 lbs to date and have more energy than when i was in my 40's. Other drs did notook at healing but pushing meds. This doctor truly transformed my life! Two years ago, my A1c was at a dangerous 9.5, and I felt absolutely terrible-constant fatigue, swollen ankles, and nightly severe headaches. After discovering Dr. Eckberg and Dr. Ken Berry, everything changed. My A1c has now been consistently between 4.9 and 5.3 for two years. At 64, I feel 30 years younger, have lost an incredible 78 pounds, and have more energy than I did in my 40s. Unlike other doctors who focused on prescribing medications, they helped me heal. I’m now completely off all meds-no more blood pressure pills, statins, metformin, or even thyroid medication. I couldn’t be more grateful! ❤

    5:26 - What causes high blood sugar (Food Intake)
    13:56 - What causes high blood sugar (Insulin Resistance)
    17:42 - It takes a long time to break it
    22:23- How to lower blood sugar
    Resuming, If you're insulin resistant, don't eat carbs that don't come from leafy greens and such (mostly water and micronutrients, almost no carbs), fats raises glucose the least, protein also doesn't raise it nearly as much as carbs, but it's more than fat, so eat more fat, less carbs and enough protein but not too much, if its too much and your body doesn't have any more use to it, it'll become glucose just like a carbohydrate would. Fasting for at least 12-16h per day helps a lot, but the optimal is OMAD, since you'll only spike insulin once a day. The worst thing you can do is to have a lot of spaced meals, it will only make you hungrier and increase your cravings for junk food, since your insulin will rise everytime you eat something. It is not a quick fix, but it is sure to help your body to work as it should so you won't have as many health complications down the line. Exercise is good, just don't over do it. Go to the gym, work your muscles to failure, walk as much as you want, that won't be an issue, but don't try to heal your body through intense cardio sessions, if anything it'll make your problem worse.

I just discovered I had diabetes, my fasting blood sugar was 204, and A1C 9.6, and my first appointment with an endocrinologist is in July. I was seeing a nutritionist, and she insisted that I have to eat 5 times a day, 2 hours between meals, all kinds of carbs included. That's crazy. Thankfully, I listened to Dr. Jason Fung a lot, and now I subscribed to this channel because what both of you explain makes more sense. THANK YOU for this video! ❤❤

      Dr Ken Berry is the best doctor on this subject. If you can afford to go carnivore you could completely heal your diabetes. I was just diagnosed with pre-diabetes and meat makes me nauseous even though I love meat. Good luck and God bless you as you tale this healing journey 😉

    • @HyperNova137
      @HyperNova137 4 месяца назад

      @@maryfolks9368 Carnivore and keto have never healed diabetes, it's illegal for doctors to even make that claim anymore, so many of them started making subtle changes to how they phrase that false claim in order to get away with it. Going vegan, on the other hand, CAN completely reverse Type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance. I've never been vegan, but about 7 years ago I became Type-1, which has no cure whatsoever, and years of experimentation has repeatedly shown me that the most effective thing for keeping my blood sugar low and eliminating insulin resistance is FIBER... As little as one spoonful of hemp fiber reduces my insulin needs to almost nothing for almost a full week, and my numbers are always perfect at my endocrinologist visits. Meanwhile, I've been watching one body builder after another aggressively promote carnivore and keto diets only to die of strokes and heart attacks, or developing Type 2 diabetes. Removing carbs from your diet has some temporary benefits, but over time it atrophies your body's ability to process carbs, so that when any kind of sugar does get into your diet, it remains in your blood -- basically the same effect as insulin resistance.

    Every time I listen to this man, nutrition becomes clearer to me. I'm amazed how we vilified fat in the 1970s and replaced it with sugar. No fat, we needed to add more sugar for favor. Maybe that's why people in the 60s and 70s were thinner. Anyway I think this channel is great, clear and concise. The mainstream for the most part is still preaching old school "science" and this line of thinking and science is too far out and has no basics in "real" science. Sad.

    I can completely attest to this, did this before even watching this video. Found out I was type 2 with an A1C of 13.8, I was shocked. Immediately went on a full keto diet, within 1 month got my A1C down to 10.2, and within 3 months was down to 6.2. I have since re introduced a minimal controlled amount of carbs, no sugar still and I'm maintaining everything without any meds. My blood sugars are in the low to mid 100's only varying by 20-30 points at all times, occasionally I'll break down into the sub 100 range.

      @@AlisHaAmbreenAli I was only on Metformin, so I just stopped taking it all together. Many people in my family are diabetic, but most of them still eat really bad and just rely on the meds. My dad who just turned 70, has been T2 diabetic for most of his life and didn't manage his diet well, is mostly blind and had a toe amputated. That was my motivation to take it serious and eat healthy. What I find is most people have a really hard time controlling their diet. I eat a very consistent diet. Protein shake for breakfast, a chicken salad for lunch, and dinner I'll usually have some meat with plenty of vegetables and a little amount of carbs, my rule is whatever would fit in the palm of my hand as far as the carb portion size.

With a blood glucose of 1 , they injected him with insulin.His glucose went to zero, but he had no symptoms of hypoglycemia . They then re-measured his ketones , to see the ketones decreased slightly .They think the decrease was because his brain had been using some glucose before the insulin injection.With zero glucose , after insulin, his brain then used ketones instead .Thus , the ketone level reduction.

      @1brunner699 My fasting blood sugar was around 177. It came down to 130. I was expecting better results but I must be very insulin resistant. A1C went from 8 to 7.3 in 6 months. I will have another A1C in July 2023.
      Note I do take 500MG of Metformin for years but my blood sugar never decreased but stabilized at 6.7 A1C for years. Last fall Oct 2022 my A1C increased to 8 so my doctor wanted me to double metformin to twice a day and also prescribed Ozempic 0.5. I did diet instead and got down to 7.3

      6.6 ac1 isn't great but it's not that bad either so long as you stay under 7. Also, unfortunately cottage cheese has more sugar than you would believe. Just read the label. There's certain things you can do like whipping cream As a replacement for coffee cream or in recipes requiring milk. (not the stuff in a spray can but the stuff you pour to make whipping cream without sugar. If you look on the nutrition label you'll see that it actually has no sugars in it. So I've used that now as my replacement for dairy because all dairy has naturally occurring sugar.) If you're doing a lot of physically intense activities. Your body will need some carbs. I find that if I know I'm going to have a heavy afternoon of lifting etc. That a very small amount of black beans (preferably not from a can, soaked if you could do it) carrots, basically anything that is a real vegetable with moderate carbs and a low glycemic load. This will keep your sugars from spiking but also keep your energy up as the fiber is super important. Also, this one is absolutely huge for me and got me from a 15 AC One back down to a 7.1 is walking as often as you can after each meal even if it's just for 10 minutes as it gets your metabolism up while also contributing to an overall lowering of not only your blood sugar but your stress hormones which are a major contributor to your blood sugar going up. Good luck! It's not easy

    I found that not eating lowers my blood sugar to about 80 in about two days. Of course I usually only eat less than two meals a day on average and have cut out my favorite foods which are pizza and cheese cake. One-eighth of a cheese cake raises my blood sugar to about 200 for hours. So, I'm definitely insulin resistant. Instead of salty potato chips I now eat a handful of mostly unsalted nuts. Even two cups of coffee a day makes me want to eat more, and makes me feel sickly most of the time. So I have to abstain from coffee for weeks at a time. I know the coffee industry says it won't hurt me, but what do they know? I'm a young 77 years old.

    15:26: 🩸 High blood sugar leads to insulin resistance, and fructose exacerbates this process.
    19:30: ⏰ Insulin resistance develops over time, making it harder for the body to control blood glucose levels.
    22:57: ✅ To lower blood sugar levels, it is important to reduce insulin by avoiding sugar and reducing overall carbohydrate intake. Gentle exercise and eating non-starchy vegetables can also help.
    26:53: 🏋 During intense exercise, the body burns more glucose than fat, creating a need for more glucose production.

    Such a great video at summarizing glucose and insulin resistance and how they’re impacted by what we eat! I had started a no-sugar May, and it wasn’t going very well, as I ended up eating sugar 5/2 and 5/3. Yesterday was my first sugar-free day, and this video is exactly what I needed! Thank you, Doctor Ekberg! 💗🙏🏻💗

      Zara - Good job on your first day with no sugar at all. What we did was get it out of the house ( and keep it out ), cause we can’t eat what’s not available. Hardest part for most, including us, to remember is that Carb’s turn right into sugar as well ! Yikes. Anyway, all bread, cereal etc,… out the door ! AND, as we just heard the Dr. Say,… even too much protein turns to glucose as well. Soooo,… more exercise (light) and LOTs of non-starchy vegi’s for us. Watch it though on the leafy greens. Many of them are VERY high in oxilates , ( spinach is off there chart ) cause too much will cause/worsen gout and arthritis mainly for those of us that are a bit older. The book I’m reading, “ Complete Idiot’s Guide Anti-Inflammation Cookbook “ talks about having 3 servings of vegi’s at each meal. And to kept/learn many different recipes on how to make the vegi’s so you don’t get board/sick of them. Doing this is a commitment to yourself, but you’re worth it. Am also working on accepting the idea, I won’t be eating out much anymore, aside from “salad & go “ ( here in Phoenix ), which I’ve gone to for a number of years now. **** ( PS, I need to check what Thomas DeLauer would say about not doing intense exercise, since it raises cortisol levels, as the Dr. just mentioned in this vid. Interesting to learn and fit these pieces all together. Good luck all. ) ****

If I think I have over done it then I will go without food for a minimum 12 hours. I am used to hunger, and rumbly in my tumbly. I dropped 25 pounds since January. I weigh myself every day.

    No matter how much I think I know on a specific health topic I always learn new information watching your videos. For example, I didn’t realize that muscles don’t require insulin to uptake glucose during ‘soft exercise’. I find this makes going for a walk after a meal even more motivating 😊

      I find that 25 minutes of fast walk gives me the lowest number, if I walk more my glucose starts to go up again. I can go from 180 to 73 if I observe this rule. Your body might be different, your meter is key to understand these things.

    • @electrofuzz7396
      @electrofuzz7396 Год назад +9

      @@fishydubsfishing6516 It's very simple, during exercise when your glucose goes too low, the liver starts to create glucose so you don't faint, in a healthy body this works great because together with the pancreas things stay balanced but if you are insulin resistant or a diabetic, the liver over shoots and you might end up with even higher glucose then before you started the exercise. So if you are 100% healthy go for as much exercise as you wish but if you are diabetic and want to lower your post meal numbers limited exercise will result in better glucose numbers.

      I believe it is called the contraction mediated pathway. You will find numerous papers on the subject on PubMed. Basically, as Dr Ekberg states, even moderate exercise allows your muscles to accept blood sugar without insulin. This gives your pancreas a much-needed break from suppressing blood glucose.

I took his sugar and it was 133 prior to the new non-pharm tx,,, He is 55 yo. I told him to take this AMPALAYA TEA everyday when he gets home which is around 5pm -6pm cos. I prefer him to take it at this time to prevent from getting up for bathroom so promote rest at night. After 1 week i think it was when I saw him again I tested his sugar and it was 83... and he didn't change his diet. only advice I gave him was do not consume more carbs than he normally does. Next time when I see him I will also take his BP. I wasn't worried about his bp going down cos he tend to be borderline on his BP... In which the tea will also help reduce BP.

I have switched to a ketogenic diet months ago to prevent diabetes as all of my family has it…I am the only one in my family who doesn’t, but I have always watched what I eat…I find the keto lifestyle much easier to sustain and I don’t think about food like I did on the low fat diet. I am 5 ft tall so I really have to watch what goes into my body. I don’t need to lose weight, but Keto way of eating is just easier as I can gain very easily.
