All the features on this software were not utilized such as how to do pan shots of the photos to make the slideshow seem like a video. The music was not interesting either. Glad you asked. Yes, I got the Chinese 01 title back after "hiding" it. What's funny is that Cyberlink allows you to download the title preset to your drive and then turn around and delete the download without your mouse ever moving off of the thumbnail. You'd think that it work the same for the HIDE feature. But NO! In order to recover a hidden title, you need to move the mouse to an empty spot (yes, no kidding, an empty spot), and then right click there to select "Un-Hide All". The downside of this is if you have just hidden over 100 titles in a foreign language font but then accidently hid one that you want back, you have to un-hide all of them and start all over again. An infinite number of monkeys sitting at an infinite number of keyboards could never have come up with this procedure.

      It took me a while to figure out what circle you were talking about but I've got it now...its that colorful circle on the old export window which would show available drive space. As a replacement method, I'd suggest you use Windows File Explorer to view drive space. Use the keyboard shortcut "Windows Key + E". Or you can have a File Explorer already running and minimized while using Power Director. Then when it comes time to Export, just toggle between all opened windows using "Alt + Tab". I haven't seen a great deal of complaints about this in the Cyberlink Feedback Forum so it looks like its gone for good.

Underneath the large blue logo a the left side which shows a stylized camera, you will find a horizontal menu of items: Home, Videos, Shorts, and Playlists. When you click on Videos, you can usually see all the videos in chronological order when you sort them by "Latest". But if you click on Shorts, that's is where all channels can have their short videos up to 60 seconds long. The other restriction is that these shorts must be in portrait orientation instead of landscape. And that is where you'll find the missing videos number 60 and number 63. By the way, the large blue circle with the stylized camera, that is the desktop icon for PowerDirector 365.

    Hi - thanks for the time and trouble you went to for this. After the first save of the project would you use "save project as..." or keep using "Pack project materials.."? I guess once you've used the second option you'd have to keep using that option, as more clips and photos may keep getting added.

    • @Baldy-1
      @Baldy-1 7 дней назад

      There are several methods of doing this...all of them correct. For me, I always do repetitive saves using "Save Project". Some claim that is the wrong way as you may have made some kind of mistake that you didn't catch or accidentally deleted sometime but you keep saving the mistake or lack of something over and over. I guess I take the attitude that "I don't make mistakes"....(yeah, right). Generally speaking the "Pack project materials" is used when you have completed the project and want to protect all the media files used by keeping a copy together in one place. That helps when some people use one media file from a folder on the C: drive and another media file from a folder on the D: drive, etc, etc. If you think you might be working on a project for an extended period of time, then it might be a good idea to "Pack Project Materials" as you work. This is done to eliminate the possibility of forgetting about some media file in a strange folder that you don't remember is actually being used in a current project but because you kind of forgot about it, you rename the file or move it elsewhere, or worst, you just delete it. Notice that the Pack Project Materials method helps those people that have little file organization. They tend to keep files all over the place in different folders. The truth is that for myself, I almost never use Pack Project Materials because of the way that I organize my project. For example, for each video that I post, I create a separate folder ahead of time. Then I move copies of all media files that I intend to use into that folder. As the project progresses, if I add any other media files, I move them into the project folder and then Import that file from the project folder into the media room to be used in the video. Even the .PDS file is saved into the same project folder that I have created. You are free to choose whatever method works best for you but I strongly suggest you avoid using files from all over the place directly into the video. You never know when something in your life might prevent you from coming back to finish the project until 6 months later and by that time you might have moved or deleted some needed media files.

    • @Baldy-1
      @Baldy-1 8 дней назад

      I am about 99.999% sure that you do not have Power Director 365 which is the subscription version. Instead you have Power Director Ultimate which despite the powerful sounding word Ultimate used for marketing and sales promotion, it is the version that is "frozen in time". That means you never had many of the features to begin with and as more features are introduced, they get introduced through the monthly updates only to the 365 users. Meanwhile the Ultimate users see none of these new features but might be offered a bug update every once in a while. My video #14 explained a lot of these differences but it was rendered last October and there have been some minor changes and updates to my content in the video. www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdirector-video-editing-software/pricing_en_US.html is the official Cyberlink web page that shows the pricing and feature differences between the two versions. But don't feel bad about that. Many users find that the Ultimate version is more stable than the subscription version. And the big difference between the two is that the subscription users have to pay for the program all over again once a year, $75 instead of the one-time price of $140 for the Ultimate version. I try to clarify on each new video that the topic that I'm covering is for 365 users.

    • @Baldy-1
      @Baldy-1 8 дней назад

      No problem. I kind of wish I had the current Ultimate version to test out the various menu and methodology differences but I think that would become a monumental task. I'd recommend you keep watching my videos because a lot of the content will be similar if not identical. No matter what you'd at least get an exposure of how it can be done on a different version and that might inspire you to experiment around in your version. I also wish I had a good RUclips link that I could recommend to Ultimate users but unfortunately most have content that is at least one year old. And from those videos that I have watched, the creator tends to assume that you already know everything and he jumps around so fast without any explanations. That is why I created this channel: "Made Simple" means I'll go slow and explain every mouse click on the menus. Good luck in all your editing. And don't be afraid to come back here and ask a question even if it is about the Ultimate Version. There are several others on here that still use that version. Oh, one more thing. Don't trust the check for updates from within the Program. It lies. Use CAM and it will show what software you are licensed for and if there are updates available for you.

    Thanks for the info. The last video I made for You Tube got me a copyright notice for using Cyber Link's own background music. Although it didn't get me a strike, I was informed that You Tube "may restrict the video's visibility." I realized a while back that this will occur if you use either soundstripe or meta music, but now I find it's not even safe to use cyber link's own music. There should be a warning that this will happen if you use certain background tracks. I was under the impression that the rights to use these tracks was included in the price of my subscription.

    • @Baldy-1
      @Baldy-1 11 дней назад

      You should never get a copyright notice if using Cyberlink's own background music. If for some reason that you did, then I'd contact Cyberlink Support and have then intervene to get the notice removed. There were some initial problems with using music tracks from Soundstripe but they got together with Cyberlink and worked out a solution. You might want to watch video 47 - Background Music, Strange Things are Afoot at the Circle K. The answer to using any of Soundstripe's music is simply this: in the video description section, you MUST enter in the special CODE number that is generated when the video is rendered out in Power Director. If you fail to include the code number in the description, then you will receive a copyright notice. I've never had a problem with Meta's music but whenever I use any of them, I always give attribution in the video description. That's the nice thing about Soundstripe; no attribution or any other info is required. Just give the code number and it works every time. If you want, post a link to the offending video and I'll take a quick look at the description. I won't be able to see your notice of copyright because only the owner can view that in the RUclips Studio.

      My title untouched ever since it was downloaded still said "BRIGNT". In my previous experiences with editing titles, I believe any editing of an original would have to be saved using the "Save As..." option, but now it appears you can edit the original directly and just click OK. Then that edited version replaces the original. But I learned something new. I right clicked on the title Neon 08 and selected "Edit". I then changed the spelling to "BRIGHT". I did not click on "Save As..." but rather just OK. That replaced the title. I thought it might revert back to the original if I restarted Power Director but it doesn't. The Edit and OK buttons replace the original permanently. Interesting. Thanks for leading me down that path. Now I won't complain about the spelling anymore. But maybe I should complain about why something like this would escape their attention before releasing it to the public.

    • @Baldy-1
      @Baldy-1 16 дней назад

      But it doesn't change the name of the original music source file so you should always be able to find that one again. If you're thinking about re-using the altered .WAV file, you should know that it has been altered to fit one particular clip or project and probably won't fit into your new project the way you want. On the other hand, if you create the Packed Project file, then it will always contain the altered .WAV file using the same name as the original but with the addition of "_remix" added to the name.

      The desktop wallpaper that you got a brief view of in my video comes from Microsoft's Windows Spotlight feature which changes it just about every day. Using Win11, go to Settings, Personalization, Background. On the menu item that says "Personalize Your Background" there should be a drop-down menu giving you 4 choices: Picture, Solid Color, Slideshow, and Windows spotlight. I believe this settings option is now the same under Windows 10. About the speed ramp that you describe, I think I've seen that kind of feature in which the director wants to convey the same scene speeding through time until several hours, months, or even years in the future. You can accomplish the same thing using the Speed Ramping technique previously show only make sure you set the speed to a very high number and you have enough footage on the clip to actually speed through.

And besides this effects only those wanting a high bitrate in 4K video. In other words, if it doesn't cause the program to lock up or crash, its not really an item that requires immediate attention.

    The problem is background has mostly same colors the man (and hat) has, so AI compare background 'color pallet' with foreground and remove all foreground colors found in background. I think one can use 'two-pass' approach: 1) Place video (with hat) on timeline, 2) AI Remove background, 3) Export altered video, 4) Again place exported video on timeline (track 2), 5) Create some dark color background (pink maybe) in track 1,; and 6) Now, AI Remove (black) background from video. Don't know...make sense.

    Why the nit-picking? Who or why would anyone want to export at such a stupidly high bitrate. What drone did you use?

    • @Baldy-1
      @Baldy-1 21 день назад

      Ridiculously high bitrate, yes. That's exactly how I described it in the video. Nit-picking, no. When a program fails to do what it is supposed to do because of an error, then that is not nit-picking. The intent of my video was to show that the built-in recommended bitrate for 4K is maxxed at 80 Mbps. If you want anything higher that that, then the program error limits the input from the Export Menu to just under 100 Mbps. There are many instances in which commercial 4K movies topped the 80 Mbps mark. According to reddit, here are some examples: Witness 88.40 Mbps Django 94.45 Mbps Tremors 2 92.92 Mbps Blood and Black Lace 94.82 Mbps Time Bandits 91.59 Mbps Disney’s Snow White 86.53 Mbps Hitchcock’s Rope 91.76 Mbps The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (Second Sight) 87.72 Mbps The Changeling (Second Sight) 89.88 Mbps To Live and Die in LA: 97 Mbps Mallrats: 92.50 Mbps Shrek: 89 Mbps The Score: 85 Mbps Tropic Thunder: 84 Mbps Modern cameras shoot 4:2:2 and higher quality footage at 100Mbs+. If you were to import one of those for editing, then you could not output it at the same 100Mbps+ directly from the Export Menu unless you created a Custom profile. But on the serious side, I don't have Hollywood production hardware so it is very doubtful that I would ever have the need for 100 Mbps+

    The drone video was very impressive. I would have been curious how it looked at a lower bit rate beside it. Would you recommend using that high of a bit rate for You Tube? Also, how long did it take to render? Thanks for showing us this. I laughed at you saying Cyber Link doesn't do beta testing. I have to agree.

    • @Baldy-1
      @Baldy-1 21 день назад

      4K video is best shot at 60 fps and a high bitrate is one of the factors in high quality, detailed output. Although I used an artificial ridiculous bitrate of 200 Mbps it was still at 30 fps. The file size for the 6 minutes video was just under 10 GB. If I had increased the frame rate to 60 or even 120, then I'd be looking at 20 or 40 GB files. The entire tutorial which was about 15 minutes long took just over 1 hour to render on my GTX3070. The upload to RUclips and their re-rendering it with their vp09 codec took almost 2 hours. One factor to consider in deciding a bitrate and frame rate is the content of the video. If the content were relatively stable with only limited movement, then there is not much to be gained in video quality with higher bitrates and frame rates. But when the content is a drone swooping down a mountainside, and ducking through trees, then those higher rates are needed to maintain good video quality.

    I'm Mario from Palermo (Italy). Yesterday I bought POWER DIRECTOR 2024 online (139 euros!) and installed it on my computer. Everything seemed to be going well, but during video production the program crashes and I even have to restart the PC. To produce a 7 minute video I spent hours trying and trying again; during rendering the program crashes. What could it depend on? I have been working with Power Director for years, before I was 18 and every now and then it also had this problem. Could it be due to some app blocking the program?

    • @Baldy-1
      @Baldy-1 27 дней назад

      This would be very near impossible for me to diagnose remotely. I would personally examine the Windows Event Viewer Tool to determine what is actually causing an error to bring the system down. But unless you are somewhat experienced in Windows Diagnostics, that might be a problem for you. You may also want to consider using Windows Debug (windbg) that could provide some help. You can download that direct from Microsoft at learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/debugger/. But the clue in your comment is that "during rendering the program crashes". That is a red flag which normally would point to your graphics card. Make sure you have the latest driver installed. The rendering process will stress the GPU and CPU, so if you have any kind of overheating issue from either component, you'd would face multiple issues. The CPU normally throttles back when overheating but if you are overheating the CPU, something could be deficient with your cooling system. You can monitor the workload and temperature while rendering a project in real time by starting up Task Manager, and click on Performance, and then click on GPU. If the GPU temperature gets over 90 degrees C, then you've got a problem with either the GPU cooling or it just is not up to the task for rendering video. HTH

    I was told that this software does not work with Sony A7SIII XAVC S 4K 10-Bit 4:2:2 video files?

    • @Baldy-1
      @Baldy-1 26 дней назад

      Whoever told you that is CORRECT. Many applications have problems with this specialized format. If you head on over to the official specs page for PowerDirector at www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdirector-video-editing-software/specs_en_US.html and then scroll down to the "Format and Device Support" section and look at the Video Files listed you will only find "XAVC S, XAVC 8bit 4:2:0".

    It's worth pointing out that the speed that a video was orginally recorded at, is very important when slowing a clip down. A clip recorded at say 24fps will slow down poorly, as there simply aren't enough frames available to make the resulting clip (after slowing down) look smooth; it will look choppy. Using a higher recorded framerate of let's say 60fps will allow for smoother slow downs as there more frames to work with. This is why if you intend to slow a clip down (slow motion), you should always record at as high a framerate as you can. If you have no intention of slowing a clip down, 24fps is going to be fine. So think about this when filming.

    The last good version of this program was the 21st of the year 2022, these updates are horribly slow, what is strangest is the dissolution in the line of videos that was made with nodes such as volume, apart from its instability, it seems that the current programmers They are no longer the previous versions

    • @Baldy-1
      @Baldy-1 26 дней назад

      Others may agree that the version 21 was a rock-stable version. But then comes along the current version 22 which saw the complete redesign of the User Interface and the continued introduction of many AI components. A lot of users didn't like the changes. Once I got used to the changes, I have no problem with the menu system. But I do hate the fact that they took out all means of volume control in the program. Just try to preview some of the background music tracks -- beware...the sound may be deafening and you have no way of turning it down from within the program. Cyberlink's official response was the user would need to use the Window's Volume Controls.

    Brian - thanks very much for your response and suggested fixes - I did not provide you with all the information - I dont use the Slideshow Generator but use the old fashioned method of loading all the videos and images on to the Timeline and them try to massage them from there. I had the mixture of videos and landscape and portrait images all on the same track which I think made things difficult - I have since tried loading only videos on 1 track, portraits on another and landscapes on another as well as separate tracks for Titles, Overlays etc. It makes it time consuming when trying to achieve a chronological end product but an still experimenting with this. I have a large challenge in that I have around 7k-8k images and videos from a 2 year motorhome journey around Europe. Really enjoy your tutorials - they are very professionally presented and cover the topics very well - mcheers Rob
