The Best Shrimp for Algae Control!
Hair Algae is a Pain to Deal With!
Pinocchio shrimp are beasts when it comes to hair algae. Pair these shrimp with some amano shrimp and you will be algae free in no time.
Amano shrimp are the overall better option for most shrimp tanks due to their ability to adapt to most water parameters, but in a slightly brackish tank, Pinocchio shrimp are the winner!
If you enjoyed this video, hit the like, leave me a comment what you thought and don't forget to subscribe for more shrimpy content!

The Shrimp Room Is Complete! The Final Build
I love the underbite that Oscars have, reminds me of bull dogs. :)
Thanks for this!
I got the concept but did you have to repeat five times it's a shrimp tank please take this criticism constructively
@@PeterStevenson-sc5kl think you may have had repeat on in your settings 😳
Awesome explanation, u earned a new sub and a like, thanks for educating us!
So I have a cat and I’d love to have a shrimp tank, does anyone know any good lights that can go with lids?
It looked a bit wet, I saw someone else do a grow and it got way better results with i think just one spray in one month, the spill off and the dome provides the rest of the moisture. It was said that light and standing water would create algea and slow down grow.
To be honest I neglected it lol. Would spray it maybe once a week. I’m sure lighting plays a roll in growth too
I know this is an older video but I have a hang on the back filter and I solved the problem by getting two suction cups and airstone tubing and creating a floating barrier around the increases water flow area of the water output. It works great! Just have to adjust it some if the water level dips or rises
@@Amandaandpups nice idea! I’ve seen a few others do that as well!
Is it shrimp safe?
4:40 The "b" in sußwassertang is actually an "S" in english and pronounced as an S in the native german as well
How long can you let shrimp interbreed for? Do you mainly worry about fade in color after a while with interbreeding? I ask b/c I have a blue velvet tank which the population has exploded recently and was thinking to add a few blue velvets from a completely different colony to maybe help prevent deformities.
They looked so cute as they started to float down 😂💛
@@ninab0bina that’s my favorite part!
It was dropsy, Oscar's can get dropsy. Internal organ failure. Sorry for your loss.
I had figured as much. I didn’t want to accept it though. At least I tried
I like your method. I would use it to rehydrate mysis shrimp to ensure maximum absorption of the vitamin solution.
Good idea!
???? I am still waiting ahh a timelapse of 20 minutes feeding shows nothing about interbreeding
Must have missed it! Try watching again?
@@PoseidonsPets I keep a mix of red and blue in my breeder tank, What i was meaning is what will happen if they interbreed? will it just fade out or will i get some good colours, Managed to breed loads of shrimp in community tanks etc but want to kinda get a bit more serious and keep the vibrant colours
@@allandrummond2420 once the shrimp have been mixed you can pick the best and separate them but usually it’s best to start over with new pure shrimp. If you keep them mixed you’ll get the occasional cool pattern or colors but eventually they turn clear/brown
@@PoseidonsPets 1 other question, Why am i not seeing any old shedded skins in the tanks? I have gh/kh powder and dose regularly etc hardness is spot on acording to my water tests
@@PoseidonsPets I am going to do a black tank next , I have a 30 litre I need to clean out that i use to keep plants growing, Solar powered air pump Is quite good for filtration if its shrimp only and no fish and very little plant life, easier to separate culls etc
Thank You for a great video! Informativ and very useful tip! Greetings from Norway. With regards Ivar M.
Thank you! Glad you liked it
Terrible video you jus t rambbel and literally show us nothing waste of time rant
My bad! Next time I’ll create a better dialogue exchange with value added! I would suggest using auto correct until you finish spelling classes. Your advice was solid, figured I’d return the favor! 😘
If shrimp are active does that mean that they're happy and their environment?
If they are out and about grazing they are happy and healthy. If dancing around that could be a sign of breeding or a water quality issue
What's the coldest the tank water should be for yellow shrimp?
I live in Texas. It is actually illegal to own salvinia minima in Texas and Louisiana. How dumb.
@@suzannek3406 we have a few plants like that too!
Hi I didn't see any kits on your site .. .tried doing this at home and it didn't work i am so disappointed but still think this could work
@@Andrious777 sorry it didn’t work out for you! I don’t have any of the greenhouses like shown in this video but I have moss and moss accessories on there you can try. Use code Moss50 for 50% off your moss order. 😊
Hey where are you ?
Hey! I haven’t been posting videos lately 😭 I’m hoping to get back into it
If you have almond leaves and alder cones why isn't the water brackish? I boiled my cones 10 times and still had so much tannins.
I typically only add 1 leaf and 2-3 cones per 10 gallons. After blanching and rinsing I get some Tannin release but not tons.
❤❤❤❤😊
❤️
Im loving the shrimps setting up 1st tank. I already know there will be more so i can have more shrimps..
It’s a slippery slope!
My oscar jumped out, I wished i did know before hand
Oh no!
Why specifically indian almond leaves , I see this all the time but oak leaves will do the same things from everything I have read.
Most common and readily available most likely. Most hard wood tree leaves will do from what I’ve seen
@@PoseidonsPets I just go out in the woods and get what I want
@ nice! I live in the desert, I can go collect cholla wood but leaves is hard for us here
Happy New year wishes to you and your family sir.
Happy new year!
Maybe I should sell java fern. I just gave a bunch away, well, I guess technically they were a couple of trades but gave away. The guy that got the big clump. He ended up with two different size grips. He got a bunch of young starts the plants that I originally got obviously grew. He also got one insanely long, mature plant. It was clearly over a foot long, maybe two.
The issue is they take awhile to get big when they are grown under water. Definitely a good money source if you can get it going!
@PoseidonsPets Yeah, this time, it was good.Timing for the people that got it. Most of the time, I just take my over growth to the local pet store. And ask, how much will you give me for this much of whatever it is? It's not uncommon for them to say nothing. To which I just reply with okay.I'll take it home and destroy it. I find it worth the time.Because it doesn't always make it back to the car. Sometimes, the pet star changes their mind immediately, and sometimes they change their mind after a customer buys it.
Yeah i clean the bottom of my 80gal every day so the poop won't build up
It builds quick!
Thats what i feed my albino oscars
👍
I bought 4 shrimp & 11 brilliant rasbora today. I haven't seen the shrimp again since adding them. Going to try adding floating plants. Thx for the tip 👍
@@general---777a congrats! may take some time before they come out and about
Thank you @PoseidonPets 😊 They crawled out of their hiding spots when I switched off the light this evening. All 4 are counted for, but going to get a few more tomorrow 😊 thx again!!
I like your energy.
More power more power more energy more energy!
I hope you patent them because it is such a needed item in our hobby. <•))))~{
Right!
Nice. <•))))~{
Thanks!
Such cute little faces. <•))))~{
Thank you!
can you revive a browning moss? I have moss that I grow outdoor with superb heat xD
If there is any amount of green left it should come back.
Poor info mate you should always dose even to prevent deficiency once you can see it your plant is suffering,
@@bensbullet Just sharing the experience. Not an expert by any means 👍
I've done this but differently. I completely dry the duckweed before, use spirulina flakes, minced garlic and minced fish from grocery store. Mash it all together, flatten it into pancakes and throw it into ziplock bags and freeze it. Break off a piece a few times a week for the cichlid tanks. Oddly enough, it isn't the 6"+ cichlids that love it the most but the smaller juvenile cichlids and catfish gobble it up.
Nice! Good idea
Wow, you called it, dude! Thanks for this revelation. Explains a lot!
Glad to help!
For sure the weeds die
Subbed and liked😎👍
Thanks!
My uncle used to do this and made $100 a month. And we live in a small town! I definitely recommend this business! The video was also very informative! I made the mistake of using liquid fertilizer and it grew a ton of algae.
Moss is a good seller!
Arent you doing your customer's dirty by also sending them cancerous duckweed? :)
@@ExoticFishGuyCOM 😂 I’ve never had an issue with duckweed. Doesn’t overtake my tanks lol
What size of tank are they in
A 75
You should do otoscinclus
I like them but I try to avoid all fish in my shrimp tanks
🤷
👍
How did this turn out in the end? I used just an intake tube, same setup with the mesh, and hung it just above my sponge filter. Had to do that just today. Am absolutely terrified.
It worked out well, you need to make sure you are checking it a couple times a day, the babies won’t survive long in the tube. I would let the hatched ones out and clear any dead eggs twice a day
@@PoseidonsPets Thank you!! I have been checking it about 3x a day and making sure they are getting proper flow. It's probably at least two weeks of watching it very closely. Haven't seen any dead eggs. I hear they float, or are covered in fungus, correct?
@@shelbytaylor4634 glad to hear it’s working! Yes, dead eggs will turn a different color than the others. usually when they are close to hatching they are clear and you can see the shrimp. When they die they turn milky and opaque
@@PoseidonsPets Awesome! I wondered about that. I don't believe they will all hatch, but it's worth it if even just one does. So far, they are in the brown stage. Nowhere near seeing eyes yet. The momma was maybe a week or two berried before this happened. BTW! She came back to life mid egg retrieval. 🫣😳 She has 1/3 eggs still with her. And, is miraculously still alive. Tank temp got too low this winter is my best guess?? Winter changes? Idk. It's baffling, whatever the cause. If the colony survives, I am definitely naming them Zombie Shrimp. (They're basically just blue jelly's, though. 😂)
Kyle how are the calcio mix tank doing. I'm starting the red and blue mix also I got some blues from Shelly also thanks for the recommendation. they're doing awesome what are the females is buried can't wait to see the shrimplets!
Nice! My mix tank crashed. Hope it works well for you! Let me know how it foes
Wow, i learned a lot from this video
Thanks!
Bro I guarantee you that Omega One super color cichlids pellets or flakes will color your fish up better than ANYTHING ELSE on the market and it'll also make them grow faster than anything else.... Their are multiple videos of comparing everything else to Omega One and it's not even close!! Less waste to clean up doesn't cloud water and the ingredients tell the story... I have bought everything you can possibly buy for fish to eat... No matter what species you have Omega One ALWAYS ALWAYS put performed all of them... Only one that came close was XTREME but it's got more fillers than Omega One.. fish poop more when compared... Bug bites are good but it's not Omega One bro
