- Grow Moss Fast for Profit
I have been working on different methods for growing moss and this seems to be the most effective and fastest way to grow moss!
If you are looking for some extra cash to support your multiple tank syndrome growing moss for profit is a great way. Most moss is fast growing and many people are always looking for it.
In this video I show detailed instructions on how to grow moss fast for profit.

Thanks for watching and enjoy the rest of your day! Животные
My uncle used to do this and made $100 a month. And we live in a small town! I definitely recommend this business!
The video was also very informative! I made the mistake of using liquid fertilizer and it grew a ton of algae.
Moss is a good seller!
Very good and informative video. It is great that you took the time and had the patience to show your process over time. Your precise demo of the process to propagate in the trays and the success you had definitely provides us with a strong starting point to successfully growing the size of your farm. I'm just a beginner but you have given me clear information on how to start. Thanks!
Good luck! Hope it works for you!
I was always wanted to try this method since I saw it on the Aquarium plant lab channel but I never got my hands on that propagator with the plastic dome. Good to see it worked for you, maybe I'll try it too one day
It’s been a good little setup! I wanted to experiment with growing moss terrestrial, buddy of mine showed me how he used these domes and figured I’d give it a shot. Shortly after I got the dome setup I found aquarium plant labs channel.
He’s got some cool setups. I want to try a few of them out and see how they do!
It looked a bit wet, I saw someone else do a grow and it got way better results with i think just one spray in one month, the spill off and the dome provides the rest of the moisture. It was said that light and standing water would create algea and slow down grow.
To be honest I neglected it lol. Would spray it maybe once a week. I’m sure lighting plays a roll in growth too
Great video! Thank you, I’m hoping to propagate my Christmas moss. Love how you show each step.
Thanks! Good luck! Hope it helped!
How was yoiur christmas moss journey?
Great way to make profit and if you don't have an aquarium and you want to still be part of the hobby this is one of the best ways to go!
Absolutely!
wow i really want to try this. also trying to transition my outside lawn to moss...so this could help. mowing grass seems a waste of time and moss it so much nicer. i have some moss that looks seaweed, coral like almost. i gotta try this propagation method. Thank you!
Glad to help! Hope it works for you
I just use a small plastic tub with lid, I spray it whenever I remember that I am growing moss and it seems to be doing well. My start amount was kind of small so if this grows out a little I clump it up again and cut it to restart with a denser coverage
Same concept! It works well
Thank you! Great info! 🙂
No problem! Glad to help!
Sams or Costco Croissants containers are a perfect cheap OKish alternative
That’s a good idea!
Have you tried this method with java moss? I only have java moss and its definitely not a speed grower in water. It was really great that you had the whole process in one video.
I have not tried Java moss this way but I have a Java moss growing terrestrial in my sump of my Oscar than. It would work.
Should do an experiment and see what grows faster, terrestrial or submerged
I’ve done this with Java moss . It grows equally as good as this
@@MichaelEugenio I know we talked about this months ago! Finally posted the video to show the progress. Thanks for the help with it.
@@PoseidonsPets no problem! I’m glad it’s working out for you ! I love growing moss and grasses like this
@@MichaelEugenio the next thing I want to test is growing Java fern and crypts in either soil or clay pebbles
nice, may have to try it
Worked better than I thought it would. Gotta keep up on the misting though. I forgot about it a few days and it didn’t like that
When he showed 5 weeks and my head was like FIVE DAYS YOOOO!!!! I need to train to be patient I think lol good video though 🙂
Lol, after the first month it takes off pretty quick
thanks again, good stuff 😄@@PoseidonsPets
made 300 k from moss this year!
That’s awesome!
How?
any advice for starters?
Hey Kile, is everything ok? Are you coming back? Missing your videos!
Hey brother, I’ll be back soon. Life’s been crazy lately
Very funny and very informative thank you :))
Glad you liked it!
How much do you make with moss?
Because I see that your main income out of all these is the shrimp.
I have all kinds of beautiful moss on my property in Florida, but is it worth the time vs profit?
I mean I love it, for fountains, decorations terrariums...but I need to have a worthy income with it if my time is gonna be invested in it. Thank you
It can be a good money maker. Like anything you have to advertise and get into the market
Hi I didn't see any kits on your site ..
.tried doing this at home and it didn't work i am so disappointed but still think this could work
@@Andrious777 sorry it didn’t work out for you! I don’t have any of the greenhouses like shown in this video but I have moss and moss accessories on there you can try.
Use code Moss50 for 50% off your moss order. 😊
How long does the emerse-grown moss stay green when submerged in water?
Surprisingly it transitioned well. It continued to stay green.
How many hours of light per day did you set the timer for? It's a bit hard to tell for me from the video.
It was on for 4 hours on, 4 hours off, 4 hours on so 8 total
@@PoseidonsPets
Sorry, just to clarify:
4 hours on
4 hours off
4 hours on
12 hours off, for a total of 24 hours.
And then repeat this cycle every day. Is that right?
Is it profitable?, all that gear, time and electricity seems like it would put it in the red?
Setups can be made with minimal cost, most led lights cost next to nothing to run.
Main thing is if you have the market to sell the end product. You can be sitting on a mound of moss but no one to sell it to and it won’t do you any good
Is it still faster to grow it out of water even when factoring the transition time back to growing into water?
Yes, plants grow faster terrestrial due to their ability to absorb more CO2 from the open air
what's the clear plastic you use for the diy lids
You can find them at Home Depot. They’re sold as greenhouse roofing tiles.
PALRAMSunlite 24 in. x 48 in. x 5/16 in. Polycarbonate Clear Twinwall Sheet
Used to throw it in the garbage to keep it from taking over the entire tank
Right lol. Gotta sell it at a local club! Or at least share with others 😊
Have you got your lights on timers when growing moss
Yes, without a steady light cycle you can encourage algae growth
Can any moss acclimate to being in water or does it have to be an aquatic variety?
Depends on the type of moss, some moss may be more adaptable to terrestrial life so they would require more CO2 than aquatic varieties. If you were running co2 injection I’m sure you could grow more varieties of moss
can you revive a browning moss? I have moss that I grow outdoor with superb heat xD
If there is any amount of green left it should come back.
10 gallon yellow neo and scuds eat all my java moss left the bare stems can my java moss come back or is it game over
Sorry to hear that! It might come back if you fix the scud problem but usually they’ll demolish moss
@@PoseidonsPets may its better i use the style u do putting it on the side
@@johnnybest6386 maybe they won’t be able to get it if it’s on a ledge
@@PoseidonsPets can i put christmas moss on the ledges like yours
Can i do java moss
Yup it grows well terrestrially
Hey hun I was wondering when is your next live? I always miss them lol
Hey Kayla, it is wednesdays at 4 (PST)
@@PoseidonsPets thank you 😊
Nice 👍🏽
Nice video 😊
Thanks! Was fun to make!
I couldn't understand why it wasn't being grown submerged. CO2, now I understand. Thanks.
Glad to help!
This or going out in the woods for an hour or two and collect enough moss to fill up my pickup truck box 😉
There you go lol
What's the link for the greenhouse dome?
I bought it local at a hydroponics store, there are some on Amazon but this one was $15 total: the ones on Amazon are $80….
cool video
Thanks!
experiment with java fern and anubius if you can
A lot of Java fern and Anubias are grown immersed instead of submerged! Great way to get fast growth because of the access to co2
you know almost all sellers arent transitioning it to submerged growth
Yeah, unfortunately
No soil or anything? Hmm…never tried that!
Yup! No need!
@@PoseidonsPets I’m going to give this a go and hopefully remember to get back to you with my results 👍
@@jmarshal sounds good! I look forward to seeing how it does for you
Hi, did you have any results with that? How did it go?
my moss died T_T, but my floaters are killing it!
Oh no! At least you got some nitrate removal!
"...would grow in your toilet..."😅
Facts! Lol
Didn’t aquarium plant lab do this?
He did! I found his video shortly after I set the grow out up. Great minds think alike! He’s got some pretty cool setups for growing plants
@@PoseidonsPets absolutely! 😎💯🤙🏼
I don’t think you need to be showing us all your mouth and your teeth in a very close way
You were looking in my mouth? 😳
@PoseidonsPets 😆 his comment should get the 📍pin of shame! Keep up the great work!
@@GaiaCarney lol, I usually highlight stuff like this. Especially if I clap back with a decent remark 😂
