    Loving this video, Tanner. Your educational content is my favorite online. For anyone watching this, I can attest to the power of these drills. The "Controlling the Kitchen Line" and "7-11" drills have been my go-to drills for over a year now. I have almost no prior racket sport experience (a tiny bit of casual ping pong as a kid) and I went from a 3.0 player in rec play to winning gold in 2 different men's 4.0 tournaments (with different partners each time). I've still got a long way to go, but I've seen insane improvement from these drills alone. As to how often one should drill, I believe it is far better to drill 20 minutes a day 5 days a week than it is to drill for 3 hours once a week. This concept came from my piano practice growing up. I don't have a lot of time to drill, but I got a small "half court" net and I can do dink drills in my basement for 30 minutes a day about 4 times a week. I'd like to implement the cross-court speedup and counter drill. I often find myself not being ready for that shot. My partner shouldn't have to worry about that location. I need to make sure they know I'm there to cover it.

    Tanner is absolutely right. I learned to play pickleball from beginning and realized these points by his summery. Tanner was so true when I tried to another beginner who had been consistently hit balls in front or close to her feet late, ends up flicking her wrist and elbow to hit balls, not pushing the balls up and forward. I need to let her watch this clip and correct her dinks. Thank you, Tanner! Keep doing these short videos which has great impact on my playing pickleballs.

    On resets in the transition zone, when do you "shade" or sit on you BH for resets vs a FH. Whenever I sit on BH, if the opponent hits to my FH side I can't react fast enough.

    • @tanner.pickleball
      @tanner.pickleball 20 часов назад

      I always sit backhand for resets, It is better since the ball will be coming very fast usually.

    Great advice man il definitely do next time someone doesn’t get the ball back after iv hit a one handed backhand Also I don’t step in after iv served. Also advice for other players stop standing around and waiting for the ball start taking it from the air not off the bounce so much Also if your up at the kitchen line don’t be afraid to step into it And take the ball after it bounces. Also if someone forehand is better there your backhand let them take it. And also have good communication I can’t say that enough bad communication makes the game worse.

I will try your serve recommendations as appears to really make sense. As to Ping-Pong, I rarely ever lose so would be awesome to have a friendly game some day. See you in S FL tournaments!

    Ty so much for this. One last question. Sometimes when i use back hand the ball tends to roll off out of bounds sometimes. Sometimes when i try slice the ball just cuts backward. Id love soke advice on this. And sometimes when I use back hand flick at kitchen it rolls off as well. Ty.

    Those overhand smashes were super slow. Most of the time I have to defend an overhand smash its coming like a bullet. Sometimes I actually run up to the kitchen line and make myself big. It catches them by surprise and they try to hit around me, messing up their rhythm.

    Players not coming in, or coming in far too slowly when they can come to the NVZ is a big weakness I see in 3.0-3.5 and even higher players. If you hit a return and saunter in so they have acres of room to hit a 3rd shot mid court at your feet then you are just completely giving away the returner advantage immediately.

  • @mattc3581
    @mattc3581 2 дня назад

    Generally good advice. I feel sometimes if you or your partner has hit a slightly shorter return and the opponent plays a really good 3rd shot low over the net then the option to hit it deep to them is gone because they have potentially got far enough in to prevent that. So in some cases you maybe have to 4th shot dink/reset yourself and just concede that they hit a really good 3rd and go from there.
