After watching dozens of videos before, I can say that Tanner is the best , my game drastically improved from 3.0 3.5 to 4.0 and above from following his advice. He is my only source of coaching.
The brilliance of this is that "back foot first" is a general principle you can use everywhere, if controlled weight transfer is the end goal. No drilling, nothing much to remember. Just a general principle you can work on any time and all the time, until you feel ready to take on the whole technique.
Great video, as always! How things are broken down into smaller components is really good, and makes it easier to follow along and to incorporate into our drills 👍🏻 Question: for lefties (which includes me), the "back foot first" concept means planting the right foot first before the left foot (in order for the body to move in the same direction of the shot), correct?
I’m extremely new been only playing for a month and your tutorials and coaching Really took me from novice beginner to mid in a month. I beat a 3.7 and that was from you. Best advice you gave was it doesn’t matter how hard you hit work on consistency over power. Doing hard returns and sprinkling in a drop had my opponent a bit confused. This was such an interesting move. Your backhand return was the biggest help to my game that and your serving video
YES! Amazing quality content easy to understand and adaptable. Younger players have so much to offer to the game. The concept of stepping back from the NVZ would be a no no by most “Gen 1 Player” standards. Footwork is fundamental in most activities or sports so this makes total sense. Great Job!
Tanner, in your other drills, you almost always shuffle step and start with your inside foot and then move your outside foot. At the beginning of your video, you state that you always move your back foot first then your front foot such that your weight transfer is coming forward into the shot. Is it right to assume that you only do this when you're going after a ball that's dinked to you out wide?
In pretty much all your drills, if you have to move more than a half step, you’re setting your front foot first, still moving your weight through the ball though
You teach better than anybody else on the platform. You break it down into easy steps

LETS GO!! Love that!

Thanks exactly!

Is there a better coach out there?
Not even close.
Tanner is the man!
Loved this video.
Thanks aaron!
Your tips have been valuable and really helped improve my game. Showing some appreciation.
Glad to help! I’m very thankful for that donation!! I’ll keep them coming, you’re the best ❤️❤️

Thanks Moore!
Great as always. I like how you break up the backhand dink into the different parts.
Thank you! Cheers!
I love this sport because of you! Thank you Tanner.
Thanks Bruce!
Brilliant ... great content again !!
Thank Brian!
I only play once a week, so I need to make the most of my time! Great tips and drills as always!
Keep it up!
What happened to “lift & push? The lady playing must be a 5.0!
Love the new format!
Thanks Bill!!
Great information. Thank you, Tanner. Would the back foot first then front foot footwork be effective with forehand dinks?
Thanks - great question! Yes it will be just as effective :)
Most excellent Vid, thanks. MrT..!!!
My pleasure!
Is there a reason why you put your other hand on your hip so much? Is it to move weight for balance or like to push on your leg to stabilize?
Not sure exactly, I find it more comfortable. For some reason when I don't do it.. my consistency really drops lol

Yes on a ball out wide, I may move my inside foot first… but I always go back to front if I have time.
Hey Tanner. Do you mean outside foot first? Little confused with "back ... front" terminology. Thanks for great teaching!
Hey that’s one way to think of it as well. I always set my back leg so I can step into my front leg.
@@tanner.pickleball thanks Tanner
is 2 handed backhand any good than one hand backhand dink?
Yes for certain balls, it allows you to be aggressive!
Why is this a backhand instead of a forehand shot?
It is coming to the backhand side of my body!
i'm a tanner stan
yeppp
you demonstrate “back to foot” in the first section but when you demonstrate in the “wrist position” section you didn’t apply the same footwork😢
That is the ideal form. If you are rushed, you may have to change footwork around! I will check that out to see why I did not do it, my apologies!

:)
You set your front foot first almost every time during drills. Maybe the correct advice is just be an athlete ha!
Where at? I don’t see where!
@@tanner.pickleball when you go to the backhand wrist tilt drill specifically
