I came up with phrase to remember when to reset to the middle "When you are in a pickle, hit to the middle". So often we do too much when we are on defense or the ball is low for an attack. Thanks Tanner! The main benefit I get from this video is learning better how to anticipate a shot through pattern recognition.

@@tanner.pickleballi think your point is good and accurate at the net that with same level players you will lose 90% of reversal attempts but when coming to the kitchen on a serve i see a lot of people being to passive going to neutral getting to net on a weak ball too much when they could speed up and win the point there at a high percentage

@tanner, great video analysis and insights. Thank you. For the return of serve during unstacking, I actually feel cross court (or middle) return might be better for the following reasons:
    1. When you go down the line on your return, your partner can be more easily targeted down the line.
    2. The person driving (when you return down the line) can hit his cross court drive angled off the court (that makes it harder for you as you now have bigger space to cover now since your partner has to worry about the line and his body)
    3. It's hard for the driver to go behind your partner if your return is cross court. So your partner can help you more in the middle.
Agreed that when the return is cross court you'd have less time on opponents 3rd but that's offset by the fact that your return will also take longer to get to the driving guy since it's cross court.

I'm merely a 3.75 in practice, on a good day. Even though this material is pretty far away from what I need to use in my typical game play, I think it is important to keep advanced concepts percolating in my mind as I progress up the ladder. Knowing this sooner rather than later, I believe I will develop far fewer bad habits to fix later.

As a 4.5, I feel like with some guys in 4.0 & 4.5 there's like an ego thing where they like to be the more aggressive player when on the right side. It seems like in the advanced levels everyone knows to let the forehand side take control.

On point 6 you say it's the left side players job to protect the right side players left foot so right side player doesn't have to hit a backhand dink, but doesn't that go against "respect the x", where left side player is responsible for body and line and right side player covers the middle? Or is that more for speed ups and dinking is different?
