Babel Tower, Linville Gorge NC, via Cabin Trail
Просмотров 2,4 тыс.2 года назад
There’s not a lot of videos of the Cabin trail. So I tried to show as much of this trail as possible. We took Cabin down to the Linville Gorge Trail to the Babel tower. We then took the Babel tower trail out of the gorge back to the road. Keith also vlogged this hike and will be uploading soon at ruclips.net/user/KeeFrHikes
Day hike to Daffodil Flats in the Linville Gorge, NC
Просмотров 4,9 тыс.2 года назад
The Daffodil Flats is just a flat area down in the Linville Gorge that is full of Daffodils while they are in bloom. It is a steep decent down into the gorge and a steep climb out but we’ll worth the hike!

when in march did you go?
I watched every episode and was inspired by your resilience. #girlpower
I wish the hikers , when they video a sign they would leave the video on the sign long enough for us to read the complete sign. It's a mark of amateur videographers
The trail has kinda grown up since the pandemic
This might be the best first episode trail start video I’ve ever seen. Kudos to you.
Thank you!
Glad y’all didn’t have to come back up Cabin…that’s a ruggedly steep trail! 😳😁 It looked fun though. Great views and cool rock scrambles too. Thanks for sharing! Hope you and your family are doing well. Throttle on! 👍🥾🥾
I didn’t hear that as negative…I laughed. Sometimes you have to embrace the suck…it is what it is. PS…80’s is warm…not 50’s. 🤣🤣
How cool, 12.12 at 12:12.
The isolation must be difficult for you. You have all of nature, everyday to keep you company. Keep going.
I was watching several AT videos but now you are the only one I watch and subscribe to. You're my hero.
Hey, you have a lot of courage, more than I would have. I'll follow you everyday, don't give up hang in there.
Why would you start the AT with snow on the ground ? Should you have waited a month ?
What umbrella is that? Is it made to attach to the backpack for hands free?
Zpacks and yes you can get clips that attach to your backpack strap that hold your umbrella.
I became diabetic back in March of 2017. I am tired of dealing with diabetes. My goal over next couple of years is to lose from 340 lbs back down to 260 lbs. I am hoping to atleast be able to hike from springer mountain,ga back up to shady Valley tn or Damascus,va. I grew up in kingsport,tn and my parents were from johnson city/ jonesborough,tn areas not far from erwin,tn. I have to get back doqn to a good healthy body weight of around 250 to 260 so I can enjoy doing things with my grandchildren.
Of the three, which hoodie do you like the best? I recently was able to get a Melly, but was thinking about ordering a Light Heart Gear one to compare them.
I don’t have the melly but I love the finger holes on the Light Heart Gear!
Starting in February? Damn goodluck with that one
Nice set up. I have a Hennessy Hyperlite. I bet you will sleep way better in your hammock. I also use the Z-packs Scout pack; it works well. Looks like you had a good trip.
You're a green encouragement. While I've not yet thru hiked, I have just completed an intensive2nd year of a screen writing program with a small knit group I now consider like family. What now, is a thing for me too. The blahs, the mental and in some ways physical exhaustion are relatable. Setting goals and enjoying the next season with the plan to do things together regularly are All part of the healing, if you will, for me . I relish your wisdom and that of others. We got this! Thanks so much for sharing.
*great encouragement😂
I’m looking for a Fanny pack for my Long Trail thru hike this year. Would you happen to still have the Amazon link? I would be interested in reviewing. Live your videos.
Fanny Pack for Men & Women, Fashion Waterproof Waist Packs with Adjustable Belt, Casual Bag Bum Bags for Travel Sports Running. www.amazon.com/dp/B089CR15VD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_DWH8KE89G6E8NP4C0W2N?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 This is the one I bought.
Thanks for sharing !!
Happy Earth day. Glad to see you again out and about doing what you love! 😊🌸❤️
Thanks for sharing this video. It is my first of yours I've seen and look forward to Seeing more of your adventures. I'm currently training for a through hike.
I always get better rest in my hammock - my body isn’t so stiff from sleeping on the ground. I do find myself getting up to pee more - good opportunity to check out the stars.
I have been on Horsepasture Creek in a boat. That creek empties into Jocassee.
It's Jo cass ee
Everyone tries to copy Judy at Lightheart gear maybe...because she is truly innovative....
Thanks for taking us along
👋
Looked like a beautiful place… Idk if I could sleep in a hammock 💁♂️ I would have liked a view of how you were actually laying in it on diagonal. Can you sleep on your side?
Yes, I am a side sleeper. There are all kinds of videos on the website and RUclips if you’re interested. 👊🏻
🙏🏻
What is a bear cannister? I can guess but does that mean you don't have to hang your food bag but do you have to keep it away from camp?
Yes, it secures your food. It can be placed on the ground 200 ft away from camp.
That was great. I have a hammock but I have not tried it yet. Now I’ll have to!
What a gorgeous area!
I don’t wanna grow up, I’m a Jacks R Us kid 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
🤣 I try.
Happy Earth Day to my favourite backpacking vlogger. I find the hammock so interesting but also intimidating. Looking forward to your next adventure and glad you had fun with the girls.. Happy trails 🤘🏻🥾🏕
Aww thank you so much!
nice job on your pack weight
Loved the video. Looked like a great campsite. Would love to see more like this with that pack. Been seriously thinking about that pack for my wife. After you get some more use out of it i would like to know if there is anything you would change about that pack. Shoulder strap cushions, etc. I know they sell add ons to their packs and their price seems really reasonable for what they have. Thanks for another awesome video!
I like the Hennessy Hyperlight. I also switched out the straps for the same reason that you did. Best part about a hammock is that you don't need perfectly level. If I am camping in temps that might push my UQ to its limit, I will take one of the lighter windshield reflector things. It has made the different a few times. They are a relatively cheap and light way to extend the temp rating of the UQ.
Did you mention where you are going?
I love my cheap fanny pack! I carried my lunch, snacks, drink powders, and headlamp in it.
Nice upgrades. I also own a Lightheart Gear hoodie. Thumb holes are hard to find in men’s clothing and I like that mine has them. They’re great when trying to pull another jacket on over the fleece.
Yes exactly!! 👊🏻
Good stuff and great to see you back! I love my Hennessy hammock and I’ve thought about bringing mine but didn’t. Thanks for sharing.
That’s cool you have a Hennessy! 👊🏻
Great to see a new video and the smiles. Great video.
👋
Looking forward to hearing how your trip went with the girls! Love your gear changes!
Good call on the fanny pack. I use it all the time; day hike or overnighters.
Great choice on going with the smaller cook pot. That's all I ever needed. I use mine just for heating water for coffee and bag meals. Perfect size for a can of chili or soup.
I look forward to the video of your trip!
Nice concise post-AT gear review. I checked out the Light Heart gear site and like the offerings. Weird question: was one of the pack straps labeled "piss off"? I thought thats what is saw on the video.
Lol! I saw that, too, and laughed because it did look like part of the pack. It's a pee cloth. I have one and love it.
It’s like a Kula cloth used to wipe with..👊🏻
@@KNAOutdoors2022 I'm always learning something new! Thanks. :-)
My husband and I have been hiking trying to heal from long Covid. Today we came to a very difficult decision that we will have to curb our hikes to shorter miles without much elevation gain as we had some complications. I felt just a smidge of what you must have felt getting off trail and I thought of you. We were both so disappointed that we didn't accomplish what we set out to and were pretty devastated realizing how much it will limit us. Hoping to get him into some specialists soon to resolve a couple of the most crucial things. Love the new gear!
Grrr.. yeah I hate that for you. I had Covid before the trail. Definitely set me back a few weeks. Don’t give up! It will get better. Thanks for watching!👊🏻🙏🏻
good call on the hammock. the best feature is you don't have to race from shelter to shelter to get a good tent spot.
