FDNY, NYPD, and EMS vehicles responding in NYC, along with occasional emergency vehicles elsewhere.
We're a fire buffing family of 3 in Manhattan. We go to everything a 7-year-old can reasonably go to. We love it all, but we especially like finding special units and new-to-us vehicles. When we don't have emergency vehicles to watch, we're known to chase ice cream trucks and find other adventures; you'll find some of those videos here too!

Short compilation of FDNY white ambulances of video clips followed by still photos. We've always liked finding these. After talking with an EMT, we confirmed what my son already knew, that they're pretty rare! They were leased during the pandemic and have Florida license plates. We've spotted them a handful of times in 2024.

FDNY HazMat response to a spill of about 20 gallons of home heating oil on West 70th Street in Manhattan on 10/17/2023. Includes arrival of HazMat and the members pouring bags of Oil Dri on the spill. Units on scene were Engine 40, Ladder 25, Battalion 11, Haz Mat Battalion, Engine 44, and Engine 44's HazMat Tech Unit (HMTU 44).

Took us a minute when we saw the letters on this spare... then we figured it had to be Ladder 30 of the Harlem Zoo. Let me know if you agree in the comments! This was at Manhattan 3rd Alarm Box 1231 on Madison Avenue between 95th and 96th St on 11/30/2023. The smoke was gone by the time we arrived, otherwise I would have made a video of the event.

FDNY Ladder 131, the Happy Hookers from Red Hook, Brooklyn, was acting 35 while 35 responded to a 3rd alarm on the Upper East Side. L131 responded to a potential water rescue at W79th St and turned on their siren for us on the way out. The rumbler sounded like it was in need of repair!

What’s funny is a few people have called this out, and somehow I did not notice it when I was making the video! But once I saw it, it totally jumped out and I don’t know how I could have ever missed it.

Maybe eventually, but probably not soon. We found so many last year that there haven’t been any new ones in Manhattan, so we haven’t been filming them. And I’m kinda happy my son hasn’t tried to get me to drive all over Queens stalking new trucks 😆

I have always wondered why they have red and white lights. They also use those old lights that are hard to see during the day
New York has pretty specific allowances for blue lights, and they can only be visible from behind. Beyond that I don’t know why they have what they have!

white fdny ambulances were leased to handle increased call volume during covid, call volumes and response times are still not acceptable yet so im sure they will be staying…

Had to go double check my clips! It was cut off but I found a still photo; it’s Ceremonial Unit 1. This was at the annual FDNY Memorial Day service in October 2022.

You should add lights on it like the real truck
In addition to the headlights and tail lights, we used some led string lights along the window, but they’re not nearly as bright and not that visible in the video. I probably could add more lights, but by the time I was done with this I was pretty burnt out on it! 😆

Why do the generators run so loud? There are quieter generators on the market, why doesn’t Mister Softee incorporate them into their trucks?
I think they’re actually running the engine of the truck and not a separate generator

I think they left those on there for a while. There are a few older clips, but most of them are from 2023 and 2022.
