Triple J Fire
Добавлен 27 янв 2009
Videos of FDNY, NYPD, and EMS responding in NYC, along with occasional emergency vehicles elsewhere.
Call me an accidental fire buff. My now 8-year-old son became fascinated by the FDNY as a toddler. I started recording videos just for him, mostly as emergency vehicles passed by with sirens. Then I started trying to frame the vehicles up nicely and found myself getting excited when we found new units. It expanded exponentially when we started listening to Manhattan dispatch radio all day and going to anything we could reasonably and safely watch. Our first threshold is whether we think we can get there before it's over. Then we have to decide if we can walk or bike from the UWS, and if not, if traffic permits and if we think there will be anywhere to park if we take the car.
When we don't have emergency vehicles to watch, we're known to chase ice cream trucks and find other adventures; you'll find some of those videos here too!

Excellent work brother
Thank you!
Really nice catches! Got any recommendations in Manhattan to catch some FDNY?
Thanks! Depends what you're looking for. If you want to see some units go by with sirens, midtown is a pretty good bet on any day-- even if they're going to "junk" calls, there's so much traffic that they make a lot of noise and can't get by very quickly. Some houses are so busy you could probably just hang out nearby and catch them leaving without waiting long, although those are more in areas I don't know if you'd really want to be hanging around. You could download an inexpensive scanner app and keep it on so if anything big happens you'll know right away. I use Police Scanner 5-0, which was $5 when I got it but I think might be more now. Also the FireWire app is very useful, but sometimes things come through on a delay so you can't solely rely on it. But overall it's great.
@@TripleJFire thanks!

Thank you very much!

Haha yup! That was like 9 months ago so hopefully it’s fixed by now 😆
Great job, keep em' coming!!!
Thanks! Working on it!
Fantastic! as usual

What’s the most commen engine and ladder truck to see?
For me, it’s E40 and L35 because they’re right in my neighborhood, followed by E74 and L25, then E54 and L4. You’d see whatever you’re closest to most often-though some houses are definitely busier than others, just getting more calls. Like I believe E53/L43 are particularly busy.
@ what’s the most common battion special unit and squad.sorry for asking so many questions.have you ever caught the super pumper
I still haven’t caught the super pumper-definitely want to! I see R1 a lot, Squad 18 and 41-I’m kinda on the border, if we go north for something it’s usually 41 and if south it’s 18. Battalion 9 & 11, and we’ll see MERV 1 and High Rise Unit 2 at 10-77s. I’d say what we’ve gotten most excited to find so far are the purple k’s and foam units in terms of rarity!
A new video from the queen of FDNY Special Units! My fav was 11:28 . The MERV is my favorite unit! Also, will there ever be an NYPD ESU compilation?👀
I love seeing MERV, too! I can definitely do an ESU compilation-my footage is finally labeled and organized so I can find everything.
Nice catches, and nice Fdny trucks :D
Thank you!
That ladder 47 & 48 looked old
47 was using a spare, and I believe those are all older. Not sure if 48 is due for a new rig soon though!
@ 👍👍
I've been aware for some time that an amazing number of FDNY vehicles congregate at fire scenes. And they are often very large vehicles that struggle negotiating Manhattan traffic. Wouldn't using smaller vehicles and making bike and bus lanes to fit them speed up responses?
They do have mini FDNY ambulances for navigating crowds, and the NYPD has quite a few little Smart cars. With all the equipment they carry, I don’t know how many other vehicles could be “shrunken” down! Bus lanes are full size but bike lanes are quite narrow (and filled with delivery e-bikes). Interesting to think about since there’s never enough room for anything in Manhattan!
@@TripleJFire: Some countries use smaller fire vehicles than we do and create bus/bike/taxi lanes wide enough for them. They also bury fire hydrants in the middle of the street, so that parked cars are no issue. Of course, the hydrants are accessible only when traffic is diverted, as it is during fires.
The in-street hydrants is something I didn’t know about-interesting!
Nice video. Thanks for no annoying play by play or annoying chit chat.
Thanks! I try to make it so you’ll see what we saw. We try not to talk when something exciting happens because I always cut it out of the video 😆
Would love to see DSNY Operations
I have footage, it’s labeled, and I’ve just gotta pull it together! Mostly vehicles driving around since I was usually catching them for my son.
I do trash in the city of Pittsburgh... similar hand stops. Although we utilize 2yard rearload dumpsters & 96gal Toters. as much as possible
Cool. We may start seeing more containers here. I believe DSNY and/or the mayor’s office wants to do it, and it’s related to a prop on our ballot. We’ll see what happens!
10:10 Where the RAC at?
Haha and that is exactly what I think of saying when we see them! Courtesy of the great Majestirium 😂
I saw Mister softee when the video started lol
I left that in there on purpose 😏
Oh ok
I like that you found it! I left it there as a little Easter egg, and I was wondering if anyone would notice!
In the Easter egg was found Mister softee
1:45 What’s the purpose of this ‘EMERGENCY CREW’ vehicle? It does seem like a funny caption as, by definition, all frontline FDNY vehicles are emergency crew.
I had to look into this because I still didn’t know! They repair department vehicles in the field, carrying parts and equipment. I found the answer in a Facebook post by the FDNY, which I can’t link here. And haha, I agree the name is a little… redundant?
1 hour loop?
I wish you had an in depth tutorial. I want to build one for my kid. How long did this take?
Hi! So it took probably about 30-40 hours of work over the span of 2 weeks. I was so focused on figuring out how to do it and getting it done, and although I took a few short videos to track the progress, I didn’t really think of doing the video until I was almost done with it. Even though it’s been a year, I probably can/should make a longer video about it! In the meantime, if you have specific questions, feel free to ask!
at 6:10 isnt that the guy from the news that a;ways dances on tiktok
The guy on the Citi bike? Or right after that? Haha maybe I’ve been living under a rock but I don’t know the guy/videos… if you have a link or the name of the guy you’re talking about, I’m curious now!

I love
Hi, can you make a compilation of FDNY going through crowded intersections? So like pedestrians reactions to the airhorn for example.
I like this idea! I was actually recently thinking of something similar-and this gives me a good idea of how to look for footage. Of course, several months ago, when I went and labeled/indexed hundreds of clips, I had not thought of anything like this, so it’ll be a slow combing through material 🙃
@@TripleJFire awesome, thank you so much. I saw one video where at an intersection a fire truck had left the airhorn blaring cause some cars were not really moving and the people at the intersection were covering their ears in reaction to that.
2:19 & 4:24 New York sure has the most interesting choices when it comes to patrol cars in the fleet. They have changed long since the 1970s.
Ha, yeah, I’m not sure why they have the smart cars. For squeezing through traffic maybe? I’m going to look into that!
The city's greatest days are near.
I sure hope so!

God Love those guys. The Stars and Stripes proudly flown. In the UK now we can't fly our flag as it offends minorities and is seen as racist symbolism.
Oh we’ve got plenty of leftists offended by the flag here too, especially in Manhattan! But thank goodness it hasn’t gotten in the way of R1 displaying it proudly.

Hey. I’m not from NY but I plan to go there soon, while I’m there I plan to try to get some patches from some firehouses? Do FDNY firehouses give out patches? And if so I’d think there free right?
Most of them have them most of the time. Occasionally they'll run out of them. Rescue 1 runs out of stuff quickly in general. And it depends on the house--I think most of them have given them for free, but at a few you have to pay. I don't remember which ones did and didn't, because we went through a stint where we rang a lot of doorbells! You can buy t-shirts (with cash) at most of them too.
@@TripleJFire Thanks for the help!
hope you have a good trip!
2:13 whats with the Florida plate?
The white ones are leased and all have Florida plates-beyond that, I don’t know. I guess they didn’t have to register them in NY. I’ve seen a couple on the road this year but not nearly as many as the previous few years.
I don't care how immature it is, I'm dressing up as a Mr. Softee or another man who I call "Mr. Twister" He was a man who drove an ice cream truck, but on the day after July 4th, *he never came back.* I'd probably want to dress up as Mr. Twister because imma be honest... I miss him.
But either way, amazing costume. I'm jealous
Thank you! I wonder if you can find out what ever happened to Mr. Twister!

I heard a Buff mom, talking to her kid, cool!! That Rescue chauffeur, moves that big rig through traffic, with ease!!
The buff mom is me! 🫣 Full credit to my son for getting me into it. Agree that the R1 chauffeurs make that beast of a rig look nimble! Air horn still doesn’t stop pedestrians from walking in front of it sometimes though 😂
I'm an old bloke from across the pond, but I too remember, as a kid, the thrill of seeing, what was called the Emergency Tender back then, going to the scene of an RTA or some such specialist incident. It was a rare thing to see it go by with its blue lights, two-tone siren....and bells!!! That shows how ancient I am! Rescue 1 is iconic and long may it continue to be!!
Very cool. I’d love to hear a truck with an actual bell! Agree that Rescue 1 is iconic!
Awwww 😢 this is not a joke. But I bet all of the poor New Yorkers get PTSD from hearing this.
A video not about responding! Kinda odd but nice video!
I almost left this one as private or unlisted just to share the link with family, because it’s not really consistent with the channel, but then I figured no harm in making it public 😂
