I've been aware for some time that an amazing number of FDNY vehicles congregate at fire scenes. And they are often very large vehicles that struggle negotiating Manhattan traffic. Wouldn't using smaller vehicles and making bike and bus lanes to fit them speed up responses?
They do have mini FDNY ambulances for navigating crowds, and the NYPD has quite a few little Smart cars. With all the equipment they carry, I don’t know how many other vehicles could be “shrunken” down! Bus lanes are full size but bike lanes are quite narrow (and filled with delivery e-bikes). Interesting to think about since there’s never enough room for anything in Manhattan!
@@TripleJFire: Some countries use smaller fire vehicles than we do and create bus/bike/taxi lanes wide enough for them. They also bury fire hydrants in the middle of the street, so that parked cars are no issue. Of course, the hydrants are accessible only when traffic is diverted, as it is during fires.
Nice video. Thanks for no annoying play by play or annoying chit chat.
Thanks! I try to make it so you’ll see what we saw. We try not to talk when something exciting happens because I always cut it out of the video 😆
Fantastic! as usual
Thank you!!
That ladder 47 & 48 looked old
47 was using a spare, and I believe those are all older. Not sure if 48 is due for a new rig soon though!
@ 👍👍
I saw Mister softee when the video started lol
I left that in there on purpose 😏
Oh ok
I like that you found it! I left it there as a little Easter egg, and I was wondering if anyone would notice!
In the Easter egg was found Mister softee

The in-street hydrants is something I didn’t know about-interesting!
10:10 Where the RAC at?
Haha and that is exactly what I think of saying when we see them! Courtesy of the great Majestirium 😂
