An Interview with the creator of 'Spectrum' (Short Film)
Spectrum (Short Film): ruclips.net/video/C161TZHJIjE/видео.htmlsi=-f53mnSMS5frTUU9
I watched a short film called Spectrum from independent film makers @barkfilms6242 . From a personal perspective, it has since become a cult favourite of mine and I wanted to share it with other people who, like myself, see this corner of Autism not be identified in any form of media outside of my own, and a couple of other RUclips creators.
For the size of budget, number of crew members working on the film, time alignment etc, I think it comes out amazingly well. And the star of the film Steve, is on the spectrum. As well as a number of the cast with different neurotypes.
I have since had a chat / interview w...

    “Rare as rocking horse poo” 🤣🤣🤣 challenge accepted … not sure who’s gonna want a giant rocking poop with handles and seat but if it’s rare it must be worth creation … coated in low temp melting brown wax so it authentically leaves a smear … infused with essence from that poop smelling flower … handles of improperly chewed nuts (I know horses don’t eat nuts, usually) … Thanks for the mind bender 🤪🙏😇 Leave that bad boy in the rich part of town and watch how many prunes wreck their clothes trying to steal it before giving up in disgust 🤭

    These 2 videos I found more helpful than 99% of videos by autistic creators 🤷‍♂️ less explaining of perspectives or the why and more stating actions and the cause. Such as, you say I pooped because I needed too whereas others speak of the wiping of their bum to limit discomfort perceived in others yet ignore the original discomfort of needing to poop which first must happen prior to the wiping 💩

    I reveiced my diagnosis a couple years ago.. a very quick history, my friends psychiatrist wife suggested I get assessed, I was so cynical and agreed to really prove a point, what a backfire. Long story I was diagnosed ASD Level 2, and similar to the video is was not in any way cathartic. It is a logical fallacy to think an official diagnosis changes anything and in the world we live in which is systemically a charade controlled by non autistic fools, I refuse to use the neuro typical non sequitur. Autism has avoidance built in, it is a feature not a bug.

    When I made the effort to put myself first I ended up pushing everyone out of my life, absolutely everybody left (except for my dad and my grandma). Then I didn't have anyone to put expectations on me, I could unmask without any pressure, and eventually managed to find a few new people who accept who I am. It was an absolutely miserable five years of that but it was worth it.

    Thank you so much for posting this - my Aunt Kathy was the most supportive person I had through everything, especially when my immediate family refused to be. She passed in 2021, and her birthday was the day before mine, we always celebrated our birthdays by having dinner together. Our birthdays were the last two days and I have been actively grieving as if it just happened for about a month leading up to our birthdays. The pain hasn't dulled and hasn't changed, I think about her literally every day. The rest of my family is not the same, and so it was good to hear someone else say that it doesn't go away for them either, although I am sad that you are still grieving. I do feel a little more ... IDK, okay with the fact that I still feel her loss so intensely now. Anyway, thank you. I'm so sorry you lost your friend.

    After being diagnosed AuDHD earlier this year I decided to join a couple of communities on Facebook and discovered lots of Americans “self diagnosed” and people just take their word for it. I couldn’t do that one because of imposter syndrome and two because I can’t get past them not having a professional opinion or testimonies from people they’ve known at different stages in their life. It’s my understanding autism has to be shown as being present from birth, but they don’t recognise that as a requirement, how does everyone else feel? Ps I left the group after being subjected to dogs abuse off angry and aggressive LGBT American women who accused me of “ being a gatekeeper” and attempting to “Gaslight” me.

    Responding atypically to medications is an autism thing, very unfortunate as on paper there should be quite a few that could really help us out. Antidepressant made me feel all sorts of weird, anti-anxiety meds worked for a while but quite quickly made me feel more depressed and vegetable like. The only thing that ever worked for me and I've stuck with since I was 19 is cannabis. Helps a lot with calming the ADHD mind, sleep issues, stomach issues and general feelings of anxiety. Even just CBD is helpful and gives me no side effects, I prefer regular weed a getting high a bit but it isn't necessary to help function. I used to have a lot of random pains as well, they went away during covid when I stopped being forced to spend 2-3h on pubilc transport to commute to my noisy office workplace. I used to think they were injuries from running, but now (years later) I'm thinking it was just a manifesation of the daily stress and anxiety I had to endure just getting to and being at work. Now that I'm fully remote I don't get them much anymore, except for those times where it all starts gong wrong at the same time. It feels like inflammation that's in my head and in my body.

Only thing i changed the last eight years now, is my food consumption, along with a multivitamin and algae omega3. Our body ultimately reacts to what we consume. I consume a plant based consumption. Plant based meats and plant based dairy products. Thats what have made my body feel normal again. I'm not having a go. I'm just scaring my experiences. Take it or leave it, sort of deal. Well. One of the most exhaustive things for me is having to preface myself with every little thing I say because of a trend of being lambasted by misunderstandings. Even with my best intentions and Olympic level training to not come across rude- I always say something and it’s perceived in the worst light possible. This reason alone is enough to make me exhausted by social interactions and relationships. I think I’m communicating fine, but really I’m fine tuning the art of self-alienation. Luckily enough, by some miracle force outside of my comprehension, I found some good people that enjoy me despite all that and actually find my “out of pocket commentary” a joy. Now I’ve earned the award of being a comedian; I unironically have to tell them it’s my AuDHD rizz that is able to present itself cause they’re so accepting of my nature. The mask slips a little more and I feel a sense of security that I don’t generally get to have around others. It took 33 years to find a tribe of my own. Socializing with them is a lot easier than anyone else. It’s amazing how being embraced can make it a little easier to genuinely be yourself. Otherwise it’s just difficult, difficult, lemon difficult.

    • @brianmeen2158
      @brianmeen2158 2 дня назад

      I hear you. People don’t really know me - they know the mask I wear .. I appear social and engaged and interested but I have to put so much effort into maintaining this that it zaps the joy. I’ve tried to not mask and it doesn’t work - people get annoyed or hurt or frustrated by that version. But yes there are quality people out there - it’s just extra hard to find them

    Psychologists theorize that adult autism is fundamentally rooted in severe major-depressive disorder. Major-depressive disorder is a main contributor to suicide. A diagnosis of adult autism by medical professionals should not end at just the diagnosis. It should be the beginning of treatment for a person who may be on the verge of suicide. Very sad. It seems many people are suffering.

Therapy, self care, accommodations, medical care, education, etc etc. and because of the inherent lack of support for adults, we walk it alone like we have all of our undiagnosed lives. There was some messing about behind the scenes but fortunately I didn't have to pay for it. Now that I have it, I feel lost. I have the feeling that they concentrate on the younger kids and that I've made it this far, I should be ok. Well, I'm not... 🤷🏻
