Nice pictures. Especially liked the northern lights.
Nice photos AJ…I’m sure with some of them they didn’t give you a “nice” feeling and you’re still willing to share them with all of us. Love the pics with the northern light! Wow, awesome. My fav pic is of your 9200 and ripper in front of your barn
Love ,the look on that you man face in the hog barn ,
Well at least it over lol. Hopefully 25 is better to ya. Going to add a 2nd planter for 25?
@samtalley791 it could always be worse. No, but I did order some pretty cool lights to put on the planter to keep me going, lol
Nice, and Merry Christmas to you and the family.
@TAHDAHFarm thank you and merry Christmas to you and yours
Good Kwanzaa morning iafarmer .Yep something new that they celebrate .This is America land of the free You can dream as big as you want too Right. Here's a little jingle . We were at the door in 24 we're going to come alive in 25 .
@fredf3391 hopefully 25 will be a good year. I know alot of people are struggling with the high costs so I think we could all use a good one
Merry CHRISTmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family! Enjoyed the show and you have some awesome pics in there.👍
@@404nitro same to you and yours! Thanks, the northern lights were insane that one night
Merry Christmas
@zcole6612 merry Christmas to you as well
Maybe 2025 will have pictures of $6 corn and $15 beans again 😁
Id take 5 and 12 for sure 👍
The only way we will see $6 corn and $15 beans will be because we didn’t raise any.
@ always such an optimistic feller ain’t ya 🤦♂️
I’m with AJ on this one…$5 corn $12 beans and $450/tn poly instead of $650/tn, I’d be happy. They’re gonna get “our” direct payments one way or another. They love creating the press that they’re ours though!
Something i have zero experience with right there. Unless you count dragging tanks around for my employer back in the day as experience.
Some people claim it kills your worms but idk it's nice to have some nitrogen on in case it's one of those years it doesn't rain much
Those dmi/case row units have no spring in the shank assembly they are directly bolted which is why you’re having issues . There’s no give anywhere else in that row unit compared to dalton and blue jet row units that have springs intergraded into the shank. I have same issue with my 4300 dmi .
@@nathanielfarms640 so do you have better luck with grade 8 or grade 5 bolts?
@ I run grade five bolts and still breaks shanks and knives and shank bolts in bad places . You can try eight but you’ll start breaking shanks and knives in two . It’s just hard to run those dmi units around trees and over old building sights and in froze ground .
Still one of my favorite jobs. Used to side dress all mine but went to preplanting jt. Way easier
@@samtalley791 yeah its no fun stomping down corn if you can help it
Not sure if I missed you saying it, but why were you breaking so many bolts? Frozen ground? Do you know if you can add strip till units to these toolbars? Back in the early 2000s my cousins purchases a new similar DMI unit that had strip till components to form berms. Ultimately that's why I bought that 9220, I'd like to get a 12 row strip tiller behind it, but refuse to spend BIG $ on the exorbitantly-priced Soil Warriors & Kuhn Gladiators...they're really raping the farmer with their pricing.
@EDBZ28 yup ground was half frozen. We never had an ideal window to do anhydrous. Was too warm early, then it got wet, then once it started drying up it froze. This one left a pretty nice berm, i think it looks about as good as the neighbors strip till honestly, but it was hard and bone dry when they ran
That’s burning the midnight oil!
Wasn't much opportunity this fall to get anhydrous on in good conditions. Seems like late evening is when things start to go better, phone stops ringing and can relax lol
Happy cartoon Saturday morning iafarmer farmer. Old school story neighbor tell long ago he probably has passed winter plowing ground was frozen plow wouldn't go into ground or it would bounce out of the ground bent coulter's also busted rear end up in tractor they gave him loner he destroyed that too don't remember if he waited till spring after that. Fast forward 2024 Hy-Yee co out of Hawkeye up around WDM buyout grocery chain 10 to 15 stores in NW Hoosier think your around Spencer could say we're neighbors now
@fredf3391 I'm about 35 miles east from spencer. Sounds like neighbor is more stubborn than most
That used to be one of my favorite jobs. But as I got older and fatter, switching tanks got to be more work than fun. Now I just tell the fertilizer dealer to do it.
I hired most of it done last fall because of my tractor problems. Like alot of things, its fun when everything goes good
Hurry, hurry the corn needs it, about 6 months from now when the corn needs it, the gulf will have it all. It will be down the river.
Well maybe where your from its not a good program, but if it didn't work, why do so many people do it?
Getting her done with the turtles 😮
It went pretty good besides all the broken bolts
Herding turtles 🐢 😂
No land speed records were broken for sure
Nice tractor thou obviously needs ripped!
You're gonna be hurting all your "tree-hugger" viewer's feelings on this one!
Bring em on lol. These ones i planted in 2012 for a quick windbreak so the evergreens could get established. They aren't the best tree but they grow really fast. Most of the shade trees I have left are ash and the borer is setting in, so I need to get something new growing soon
By the way you worded it I couldn't tell for sure if there was 3 different shots or not, but there's a combo PCV2 + Mycoplasma vaccine to save a shot for you, if you did 2 different shots for those. It's called Circumvent. I do 3 different vaccines, Circumvent, Ileitis, and an autogenous strep/glassers vaccine. The last one really made a difference in meningitis cases. The barn that has partially solid floors, do you have much trouble with manure buildup?
What we use is a circo/myco vaccine and add the prrs vaccine to it all in 1 2cc shot. Ecoli about a week in and ileitis at about 8 weeks. Is that strep vaccine expensive? There's usually some hard pack on the solid floor, but these barns the owner built himself and he put on 2 inches more slope on the solid part and I think that helps
@@iafarmer Not bad, want to say $130 or so for 500ccs, which will do 250 head. Vet Med Center in Washington, IA has it.
Do you own the barns? I didn’t know they made nursery style Murphy barns.
@LoganLong6620 no i just take care of them. They are regular murphy barns, we just set them up for wean to finish
@ do you have to switch the feeders out? I take care of a Murphy site too. It’s a love hate relationship haha.
@LoganLong6620 nope the feeders that are in there work. Only thing we had to do is put in a gasline for the brooders. Yeah I hear ya, they all have their drawbacks. Who do you feed for?
@ A couple brothers that are in hogs together
Do they go to JBS if so Iowa or Illinois
We send some to jbs in iowa but most get sold to Tyson
@@iafarmer ok thanks my son drove a truck for a little while and he went to Iowa to get them and took them to JBS in Beardstown
So do you grind the feed for all those pigs yourself?
No we get it from a local mill. We are custom feeding for a local guy that has them feed all his pigs
Good evening iafarmer Can You Please Pardon me and pass the Popeye spinach I'll wash it down with a 1/glass of hogwash You can a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Merry Christmas to you too and hope you have a great new year!
We have a bunch of those trees too. Great when they were younger but now are falling over. That's a lot of pigs. Do they eventually make enough body heat to heat the barn or do you always need a little propane?
Usually only have to run brooders for a couple of weeks. After 4 weeks the heaters won't run much unless it's like tonight. Wow that wind bites
Happy Thanksgiving
Same to you and your family tim!
That’s a lot of 🥓
Bacon bits yet, give em a few months lol
So you’re a tree hugger 😂
The roots were getting in the field tiles so they had to go
I have had several times when the auto shutoff didn't trip. I think I have it narrowed down to that sensing tube getting plugged up, setting out in the weather.
I’d get real bored of that I’d think. How much extra N do you put on for COC? I started out all no till and seem to do more and more tillage every year. For 2025 I don’t know that I’ll no till any. Chiseled some bean stubble to break motor in on the 44. Sucks about fuel. $2.70/gal here the other day
@samtalley791 I do 50 to 75 more in corn on corn. Biggest challenge I've had is getting a good, even stand and having enough nitrogen on early to help when residue is tying it up, so the blacker, the better in my experience. Fuel will probably be alot cheaper for 4 years now
I’m afraid with auto steer I’d fall asleep and not turn on the headland 😳😬🤣
@@TheGrumpyFarmer it remembers how far you last disengaged the steering and beeps at you to wake you up lol
@ it better be pretty damn loud 🤣
$480 that’s all 🤦♂️ that’s a bargain 😂
@TheGrumpyFarmer yup, scrap the old one and get a nickle for it lol
Yeah the ground is very hard this year, the rain we got has helped but hard pulling, disking was slow going but in good going i could grab b3 with 4430 and the 22ft deere disk going 4-5inches deep. Chisel some endrows and yeah that was tough enough. didnt break anything but dont wanna do it again like that. I cant believe the amount of people putting Anhydrous on with how wet it is but what ever floats there boat...
I was planning to do some anhydrous but like you, I think its just too greasy to do a good job, so I guess we will see how the spring goes
@@iafarmer Yeah, I said fuck it and am doing all 32% next year, went with all liquid P&K, too, they just sprayed that on today, actually. Gonna prepay for a little of the 32% to kinda have my ass covered in case something stupid happens with the nitrogen market.
@@kolewiebensohn what did you use for liquid p and k
@@chrisbertrand3989 So it's through a local agronomy business called Liqui-Grow. The formulations for P is 10-32-0/2, and K is supplied by 3-10-30. for the corn fertilizer we add boron, zinc, and sulfur with the p and k. It gets sprayed on in 15in bands and keeps it in suspension. First-year putting liquid on. Actually, the seed dealer has used liquid for years and swears by it.
@ ah yes I have looked into suspended fertilizer with them we decided I was to far away to make it work logistically would have loved to try it though
3rd year into strip till on heavy black soil so far we are happy with it going to keep doing it until we have a problem there are fairly cheap used options. You don’t need to have the biggest and baddest brand new stuff when it comes to Strip Till you can make older or shop Built stuff work when you start to do the math comparing Strip Till conventional Till if you can maintain yield you can cut your inputs way down every system has its pros and cons. There’s some days that conventional tail is the golden ticket and there’s some days that Strip Till is the golden ticket. Just need to use the system that works best for you.
@chrisbertrand3989 couple farms i have i think striptill would be great on and others i think it'd not be as good. I think every practice has its place for sure. I have some sandy/rocky knolls that we notill and it works great in those areas
Happy Saturday cartoon morning iafarmer. Set yourself down and watch Popeye the Sailor Man with a can of spinach you'll feel a lot better . Once again Y'all have wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends . Everything is so expensive it's a hogwash scenario and just get pennies on the dollar for all our hard work .I have Fred manual shut off it doesn't work either leave you with that
Sounding and looking good AJ! You sound tired...rightfully so. I'm so tired of Deere and their expensive parts...mainly all of them coming from CHINA these days too and all being manufactured by slave labor, most likely....Meanwhile CEO brags about profitability of Deere and how they've positioned themselves in the marketplace and he makes a record salary. I broke a similar style c spring on my Landoll VT...$105...THAT ya don't mind.
@EDBZ28 yes, I wish they would realize things aren't great out here for us using their products, and they are making it 10 times worse by outsourcing cheap, junk parts. I know a 20 year old guy that started as a mechanic for deere last year, and he gets paid 20 bucks an hour, no benefits and has to supply his own tools. Then they charge us 180 for him to work on our stuff, while the "supervisor" sits in his office most of the day avoiding people getting paid 130,000 a year.. Makes me fume
@@iafarmermakes me fume too!! The worst is they just don’t care…..bc they don’t have to.
I forget if you have said before, but was that tractor ever turned up any at all? I sure like watching it work, especially doing tillage.
@404nitro not that I'm aware of. I've thought about putting one on, but I'd be afraid I'd hurt the motor or pull something apart behind it. It's a nice tractor to run, but has been a spendy one
Those automatic shutoffs work every time as long as you are standing near it.
Not putting out anymore videos Jeff?
@ I just can’t get motivated to make videos anymore. I had to get a new computer this summer and it’s a pain to edit videos. I don’t even watch much RUclips anymore. So many channels have just gotten stupid to try and watch.
@onehappyfarmer3461 yup, and it can't ever happen when fuel is cheap. Shouldn't be dusty in that part of the yard for awhile lol
@@onehappyfarmer3461 Understand completely. Many channels are becoming nothing but advertisements now days.
Keep working at it, Hope you still have and it's worked out for ya. The new ones are absolute junk.
Enjoyed the video my friend! God bless
It is a tough one. Too much year at the end of the crop. Keep on keepin’ on.
What's the red lever on the steering wheel?
@jawick that is the hydrostatic lever to go forward or backward
Iafarmer. I have never heard so many farmers crying about crop yields this year ! Like they never thought the good train wouldn't end .Y'all know you got next season ,so get out there and till the ground and work on equipment over the off-season .Best to you and your family this holiday season .
@fredf3391 it was a very expensive crop, so coming up short on yield makes it tough. I figure i lost $20,000 just on one farm so it can be a tough pill to swallow depending on their situation. All in all I am very thankful and blessed for the year. Thank you and you as well
Wow you guys had worse corn yields up there than I thought. Yeah that hole would have caused for some power loss. My combine situation is ok now, 6620 is gtletting fixed up and am trying to purchase a clean local 8820 as well now.
@@kolewiebensohn some were better than others. What all you gotta fix to get it going?
@iafarmer So we got a friend who's are wrench and he's got a parts 6620 Titan sidehill in the weeds with the wiring harness we need, probably get new AC lines and a wire that goes to the compressor, new radiator hoses, throttle cable, and there's a couple little leaks and that should fix it. Too nice to scrap and with them totaling it out I got payed and got to keep the ol girl so it's going to get fixed to run for a few years, sidehill is the most important part to me.
What’s the hp on the tractor you pull it with?
I've pulled it with a 200, but if you want it sunk in the ground good the one I pull it with now is 300
@ nice, thanks
Did the same as you - finished up with harvest and went right into tillage. Congrats on being done with your corn! Great to watch the 9500 harvesting corn. Always great machines! (I finished my last past on some poorer yielding corn too)
I bet your enjoying having good hp for your ripper. Hope you had a good harvest
@ Just finished up with all fall tillage yesterday!! So happy with the 9200 this year!! I don’t think I’ve ever worked 100% of all my acres as effective as I was able to this fall. So happy with the decision to get the 9200!
I can complain on equipment this year 🤦♂️ stay tuned
@TheGrumpyFarmer uh oh.. I'm so used to things going wrong I'm not sure how to act when things go right lol
Obviously the Pro Farmer tour overlooked your area when they was touring all the 300 bu corn fields and 80 bu bean fields.
I think they missed a lot of areas
@onehappyfarmer3461 those libtards knew this area wasn't pretty but still touted off about bumper crops. you don't go too far north and west of me 150 was their best corn and 30 bushel was their top yields on beans
