We have been just as wet here in Ohio. I'm going to take a drive in the morning to see if Monday will be the 1st day of any tillage or if we will be waiting a nother weeks more. Very little tillage do here. Some guys are starting to plant in ground thare were chiseled plowed last fall. More rain Tuesday. Have a great day.
Haven’t turned a wheel up here in the northeast part of the state. Not on this farm anyway. The crop report still shows us in a drought condition. Up until Friday, the rains we got came perfect. Nice gentle soaking rains. The last rain we got was 1 1/2 inches and it caused some washing
Of the 3800 acres we own only 100 of it is sandy ground that can be planted within a week or two, we are also incredibly saturated here in SE SD. I think damn near half the country is saturated, way she goes. It sucks, but I can never complain about rain because 90% of the time over the years we are always begging for it.
Yeah it's stressful when the weather doesn't cooperate. It looks like we are stuck in this wet pattern for the next month or so. Gonna be an interesting year for sure. We do better in a dry year on most of the ground here but it's no fun to watch a crop burn up either
Yeah we've got chances about every day as well. Amounts don't look so bad this week atleast. Certain variety on the early planted stuff looks really rough trying to come up
We have been wet here in Minnesota also, but nowhere near as wet as you. We have been shutdown for a little over 2 weeks but are going to try it tomorrow & see how it goes. I hope the weather starts cooperating for you.
Sounds like Gabe brown farms sand. I can drive you by many notill fields that are just as saturated as mine. That being said I'm not against notill or covers, but every single farmer here that has tried covers goes away from it. Why? Because they don't get as good of yields. How do you explain to a landlord that you farm shares with that you only raised 150 bu corn, when the farm across the road raised 250?
Gotta love what mother nature does to you.... We were really wet.. now, it's getting pretty dry. Im figuring it's going to be the same as the past 5 years... When the valve shut off, it stayed off until October. We need summer rain to get good seed and keep things growing. Everyone says 1200 or about that.. im probably going the wrong way, but.. 1175.
That seems like the way it goes. I was always told it averages out in a 12 month period, not necessarily a calendar year. So usually when your wet, within 12 months you will be dry at some point
Gosselin Farms EdGrosselin mother nature is a false god so why do you believe in it . Check out the scriptures who created everything Yep it was God think about it
You are the winner, Grumpy cheated lol. Email me at osbornfarm@hotmail.com your address and what kind of flag you want. Can be whatever you want, tractors, trump or we could probably even find a biden one if you need target practice or tp lol
@@iafarmer Well hot damn🤣, Grumpy must of waited for the reining load guessing champion Jeff to make his guess just like the Democrats do on election day, wait to see how many votes they need😆. A Trump flag be good, I can mount it on the 10 wheeler when we haul silage this fall😆 I'll see if I can remember how to send an email
@@iafarmer Got the flags today, appreciate it. I like the red and blue, I'll have to get a video of them ounce I get em mounted in the most strategic place I can think of to annoy my TDS neighbor😆. At least one win today, got screwed on some calves and missed the boat last week on selling my old crop grain🤣
It's been interesting the last couple years. Not sure what a normal year would look like but itd sure be nice to not have such extremes. Ive always heard it takes a flood to break a drought so id say the drought is over
@@iafarmer no better sound than a turboed Deere 466 starting. So on your 4650, why is it some of them have that tube going from pre-cleaner to muffler?
I think its supposed to suck the dirt from the precleaner. The air filter on that tractor usually isn't too dirty so it might actually work a little anyhow
No-till is only part of it dude. Soil health is governed by much more, as a farmer myself, I had to learn about the entire ecosystem beneath my fields. I’m happier because of this, you can be too.
My guess is 1200 on the dot. We got rain vut got heavy wind which ripped our one of our shed doors off while thr other was pinned up against the other was pinned up against the weights of the tractor. After it had thr shed doors screwed it pulled part of the roof away and then proceeded to flip my nice wilson livestock trailer 3-4 times and hailed on my beans. Also got 2 inches of rain out of that. Been a fun week.
@@iafarmer yeah we do, didn't hurt a thing inside the shed except for scratching the paint on the weights on the big case, that stopped that door from probably flying onto the planter and planter tractor.
My guess would be 1275. The weather here has been very wet indeed although some improvement this past week. The potato, sugar beet and vegetable growers would seem to me to be in the biggest mess and any heavy land farmers trying to grow spring crops have now given up for this season as it is just too late. There are crops of winter cereals either heading out or nearly so with the tramlines still brim full of water. Some folks are already seriously worried about soil conditions for harvest. Dan
@@iafarmer that’s a typical comment from a person who gets a guaranteed paycheck no matter what the weather does farming was so easy how come we’re only 1 .7% of the population

Looks like we are gonna continue with the wet pattern for the next month or so unfortunately. We got another inch last night here

Nice! Well thanks for coming
2024 will be remembered as the wet spring. By July, we’ll be in full drought mode.
Yup I can see that happen. You still guess 1050?
@@iafarmer I see that might be a little high, but I’ll keep it at 1050. Lol

Feel your pain, we are in the same boat.. Showing rain every other day this coming week. Still plenty of corn to plant in this area.

It's gonna be awhile for us but the last couple days have helped alot. Rain chances start again tomorrow tho unfortunately
What did Gabe Brown say,,, his soil can take a 10 inch rain in an hr, and not pond? Something like that. The 6 principles of soil health.

Not much is going on around here either, not a lot of rain but about every other day a couple tenths. I'll say 1077 booshel😆🤓
Seems to be the theme this spring. We've had a couple good drying days but need alot more. Can tell where we need tile again lol

I would like to see on ABC News where all the farmers went to church and prayed for good weather to get their crops in
Unfortunately they wouldn't fit their agenda
It ain’t any different down here in southern Ia
And btw, Gabe Brown doesn’t farm sand at all.
856 bushel
Gonna guess 1300bu. Bet you tried to load that first truck pretty heavy lol
I was prepared to be very overloaded lol
My guess is 1100-1150.

Same boat every time mud goes back to wet dirt it rains
Gonna be a "fun" year at this rate
