It’s dry here too. All the BTO’s are putting on anhydrous like it’s mid May. Maybe by the time I get to it the rush will all be over and I won’t have to wait on tanks. Lol
The organic bto's are putting oats in and theres alot of recreational tillage going on too. Maybe they will be bored when they get done and haul tanks for you lol. Im betting there will be quite a few replants later this spring because guys are gonna go stir crazy and plant way too early and it will freeze off

It felt great getting the field cultivator out in February. I worked some fertilizer in and just enjoyed my time back in the seat. Just a month away from planting corn and I am looking forward to it for sure

1983 was just this dry, almost exact weather.. You haven't had great luck with used tractors.. If you own a 9000 series tractor you will do axle bearings at some point. We did both of ours. We were able to do them inhouse so the cost wasnt too bad.
Thats the year i was born. I got unlucky as there was a piece of the one bearing that broke off and went through the gears and basically ruined the whole axle housing and all. I wish now i would've had jd inspect it before fall and checked the axle play. They did both sides so until the rear needs done it should last for awhile now atleast
I like what you had to say on the vise grips...we all have a tendency to get overly wrapped up in "the now". This winter I've been reading a lot on the history of my hometown and the railroads that used to be in it; I just find it fascinating...looking at the old pictures of the people in them from the mid 1800's, now dead and gone and forgotten in most cases, but in that picture that was their time making their mark in history. On your 9200, if you were buying that caliber of tractor again, what would you do different? Would you buy that model again? or what would you look for? I'm sorry that you've got all that against ya on it....& disappointed in all the work that you're having done to it; this is why I've always been leery buying a fwd...they get pricey to repair.
Well i dont think id be afraid to buy another one, but if i could go back id probably insist the tractor be inspected by john deere before id agree to purchase and have them jack up both axles up and check them. I knew from research all this could be expected, but didn't think id be doing it all in the first year. It was definitely the wrong time to buy since the prices of everything was so inflated but i was in a bind so i settled on it and paid too much. The guy i bought it from turned out to be a real jerk and wouldn't return my calls even when the radiator was leaking a mile down the road from leaving his farm so it hasnt been a pleasant experience from the start. One of those deals you just eat the shit sandwich and move on lol. In a year from now it'll be like those vicegrips
Glad to see you back Iafarmer. You could give cooking instructions like Iowa country girl , get some muriatic acid to clean up them vise grips .check out Locust Motor Works does research on JD equipment the good the bad and the ugly
Its just a piece of metal i had laying around, cut it to fit between the window latches and bolted a couple angle pieces on each side, then bolted it to the slots in the window latches
I will probably do a video on it when it gets back but im expecting its gonna cost about half as much as i paid for the tractor. Just the front end repair is gonna be over 20,000. Its gonna owe me lol
Interesting the crap you find out in the field and once in a while. In college I planted a guys entire toolbox with a ripper. I wonder if he's ever found any of it.

Scrap iron trailer is probably their destination haha. Its probably best i stick to fieldwork and pigs as my cooking is less than desireable lol

Yeah on that farm im not sure if all the rocks broke that much equipment or what but seems like im always finding pieces of some old machinery
