I think it’s interesting that for a guy who claims inclusivity and women empowerment, one of his closest former co-Pastor, Mandy, who is a female Pastor, spoke out about how cold he was with her after she had her kid. And how unsupportive and unloving he was of her wanting to be both a Mom and a Pastor. She claimed that the patriarchy is strong with Pastor Craig. Kind of ironic if you ask me for a guy who toots his horn of being all about love and women empowerment. That being said I respect you guys have interviews with people on both sides of the spectrum.

What a game of switch he plays. When we say reparations today it is meant as payment of decendents of slaves as there are no living people who were slaves from the United States. When Reagan did reparations to Japanese citizens it was to the living people who were interned. Not at all the same. When people can't be honest and have to play games with words it tells me some not too good things about their thinking processes.

They key to all of this is that we as Adventist must look at the character of the Pharisee, Sadducees and the disciples. There was a time when neither thought that Jesus way was the right way Jesus knew this and his responds to this was love. He love God, Neighbor which included his enemies. The question is can we love those who think and teach differently that we do? It's not a question of can we love them it's more less like we must love them.

I really like the story that Scotty told about the guy who was into Spiderman who invited him on his show. I notice that the guy had been abused and found inspiration not to take him on life through a Spiderman comic book and story. One thing I notice about that story was that the young man say the good in the story of Spiderman. We must remember that Satan mixes evil and good together. God separates darkness from the light. This guy at that moment of inspiration saw the good. He was inspired by the good and now he uses the good side of the Spider man story and Superhero story to reach others. I get it. I see this a lot with modern "Gospel" music and "Christian" Hip-Hop music. What I realize is that we are not all going to think the same. We are not all going to see things the same way. We must be loving and tolerate of others because although their way isn't our way it might be a way to reach people for God.

God inhabits our praise/gratitude.I have always had a problem when EG White said at the beginning of building the church, that we are not to go into the dens of iniquity in the cities, because angels will not accompany us into these places. She was basically saying ,let us spend our resources in getting this church up and running.I know Jesus came to where I was when I needed Him,and it was a den of iniquity.Jesus used someone to reach .e where I was.Adventists have always had this coldness.

I wonder what Myles thought of the late and very influential PCA pastor Tim Keller. Same denomination but very different attitude toward those with different beliefs. Keller's book The Reason for God takes an open position to other denominations and, for example, quotes from a number of Catholic thinkers and theologians. He believes the essentials are found throughout Christendom. His church, Redeemer, used the sda Advent Hope church for many years before moving into their own building. Would be curious if anyone knew Pastor Keller personally. I have been hugely blessed by his sermons and books, particularly The Prodigal God. I see Keller's stance serving his missionary goals of reaching secular New Yorkers. I guess Keller was Presbyterian-lite :) Myles' version of Presbyterianism smells suspiciously like exclusive, fundamentalist Adventism. It's interesting that Myles described Adventism as Babylon because of the diversity of thought within. Presbyterianism has split into several different branches, 4-5 main ones in the US. Myles referred to one of the liberal ones as apostate. Does it serve the work of Christ to focus so much on who is "out" and fellowshipping only with Christians who share our same beliefs? I don't think so. I think conservative, moderate, and liberal Adventism come with some issues but also strengths. I've appreciated the insights and example set by people within each of those segments. If you ever happen to read this Myles, I think there is great freedom in embracing, fellow-shipping, and journeying with Christians with differing views.

OK guys, I made it almost to the end but to be honest with you, this podcast was too painful to finish. I wish I could find the words to describe the sadness I feel when I hear all of you express yourselves. The thing that makes me the most sad is the fact that you seem to have such a non-binary view of God and scripture. yet, at least three of you occupied positions of leadership in our church. I would like to know if there are any absolutes for you guys at all or is truth a moving target that changes with culture as time goes by? Does god change? Isn’t Jesus supposed to be The same yesterday today and forever according to Hebrews 13:8? in first or second Timothy, I cannot remember which right now, Paul says that in the last days there will be people who will always be learning but never coming to the knowledge of the truth. How would you guys differentiate yourselves from those in that class? I think it would be very difficult to come to the table and discuss the LGBTQ I a plus question without first considering these things. Much love to you.

I have a question for Jesse Anthony Sean and Eric. I noticed the title of your podcast is seeking what they sought. I believe they is supposed to be the founders of the seventh day Adventist church. How close do you guys feel you are getting to what they sought? how would you measure your progress? Is there a best way to get there and a not so good way to get there? I stopped at the 58 second mark because I have obligations. I am planning to finish, but I have noticed that you guys very rarely refer to scripture. May I ask why? I can understand the peace that comes when someone like Jordan an LGBTQ person comes to terms with what feels most comfortable to them. However, is god expecting followers of his word to process his word by their feelings and experiences or should his followers process their feelings and experiences by his word? there are so many other questions I would like to ask you maybe I should have a podcast and invite you all on it to ask my questions. L O L much love to you.

I agree with Jesse about some things being sins for different people. I recently quit caffeine, nicotine and weed because I used all three all the time and it was eating my life. I eventually realized this and with God's help quit them all cold turkey. However I still have a drink every once in awhile because I don't really like it so the temptation of life ruining addiction isn't present for me in that particular substance. I think there's a lot of nuance around what sin is for different people and the tendency in the church I've seen is everyone applying their experience on everyone else. Not that their experience isn't valid, it's just that others have different experiences that are also valid.

"And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace." I couldn't picture our Savior watching movies. Everything (stories, accounts, parables) we need to know in order to know Him are found in His word and in Scripture. Also, we find counsel and additional encouragement through His prophets, "Believe in the LORD your God, and you will be able to stand firm. Believe in his prophets, and you will succeed.” 2 Chronicles 20:20 By beholding, we become changed is what scripture says. Yes everyone can look at something and draw their own conclusions, but there is only one truth, one way. You either are inspired by the spirit of God, or by another spirit, every thought , action, belief, idea, etc.. May we draw closer to Christ than ever before and cut ties with anything that gets in the way of us moving closer to Him🙏

Two arguments that do not make sense to me. 1 The wasting of male sperm, which I believe is taken completely out of context… if ejaculating without the intention of producing a child is a sin then all sex within a marriage that prevent the production of a child, prevention or having sex with a woman that cannot produce children any more must be killed because that is what God did to Judah’s son. 2. The same word that is used when Ruben slept( raped, incest) with Billah… this is a precise indication of what kind of sex is wrong with another male… sex with someone in a weaker standing than the perpetrator and also with in the same family… That is plain reading of the Hebrew…

The creation ideal is the biblical intention. It seems obvious to me. The question is how we honor God by standing for what He designed, and how we care for people. God allows for gay people to exist, just as he allowed for slavers to exist, and divorce to be permitted to exist. What is the intent and design mandate? The answer is obvious. There are no same sex pregnancies.

    • @Adronitis
      @Adronitis 11 дней назад

I disagree. God does not intend recreate the creation ideal brick for brick. When He talks about the New Earth, He talks about a NEW thing. God is creating beauty from the wreckage of sin. Which is why we will not have marriage in heaven, but will be like the angels. People get married, people die or get divorced and then remarried. It's messy. But if people are saved through our testimony our lives there will be better for it. Do I believe that gay marriage and gay relationships were the creation ideal? No. The creation ideal was for us to be straight, naked vegans, sleeping outdoors and marrying our siblings. Does wearing clothes and eating honey make us against God? No. Will there be indoor housing in heaven? Yes. I believe gay marriage is not the ideal in the way grocery stores are not ideal. Would it be nice to grow your own food and pick it fresh from your garden? Sure, but some people live in climates where that can't happen and they don't deserve to starve because their yard wasn't made that way. People need food. People need love 🏳️‍🌈. In the end, we don't take any of our romantic relationships with us to heaven.

Telling someone to surrender their sins is NOT emotional or spiritual abuse. That is such a victim mentality and a pride issue. He admitted that the people who tried to tell him that were kind and compassionate people who just wanted to support him so how is that abuse?? I was suicidal when I was trying to stop drinking or some of the other burdens I was carrying with me so I understand the feeling of darkness all around me but blaming other people for that doesn’t help. Im willing to bet you probably think all of Paul’s letters are emotional and spiritual abuse too

Listening to this episode, I found myself liking what I was hearing and hoping that, going back to Leviticus 18, I would find what Alicia was saying. But if we are to be honest with the text, is it just me or the whole first part is a lot more about incest than about how to manage a polygamist household? I did not see obvious polygamy in there. All I found in this chapter was this: - Don’t practice incest - Don’t sleep with your wife’s sister, with your neighbor’s wife or with your wife while she has her period - Don’t offer your children as sacrifices - Don’t sleep with a man like you would with a woman - Don’t sleep with animals We wouldn’t question most of these things, even today, would we? And after reflection, I’m also not sure about the whole slavery thing. When we hear the word “slavery,” we automatically think of what happened to Black people in America. But that doesn’t mean that this is how the word is used in the Bible. I think most “slaves” in Bible times were basically “servants,” employees not paid very well, but supposedly taken care of. Not necessarily beaten and abused like what we have in mind when we think about slavery. The Hebrews’ situation in Egypt seems to resemble more what we understand to be slavery, and God took them out of there… I don’t think the Bible condones slavery as we understand the word today. God is love and always was. I would also have liked to hear her on the NT passages that elude to homosexuality…

Theological humility? It doesn’t take a “deep dive “ to read Lev 18 or Romans 1… in context it’s plain…( just to mention a couple of obvious ones) The image of God is revealed the unity of Man with Women… The bible says its an abomination to lie with your sister and mom as well… in Lev 18 … I guess we can disregard that too? Can a man take his sons wife to his bed because that was just a “cultural “ taboo at the time and now we see it wasn’t a “law” just a suggestion? You can’t pick the “abomination “ you want to change to suit your desires. Comparing rules for how you keep your roof or bury your poop is really dishonest and inconsistent.Sexual sin is a moral issue … and there are serious consequences. She doesn’t “ unpack “ the whole chapter 18 of Lev. I tried for several years to wrestle the scriptures to say homosexuality wasn’t sin… I heard all the arguments ( cultural context etc…) and in the end I had to accept its contrary to life and brings death. May God have mercy on Any of us who seek to justify our perverse desires to continue in sin . Romans 1 warns us He will “give us up” to fulfill our own destruction when we violate the laws of our nature…

There will be no unification in the Adventist church in these last days. Satan has introduced unconverted pastors, church members and leaders, also the school and colleges are affected. they are reaping havoc in church and our institutions, by bringing their modern worldly ideas, from every direction. They are now reinterpreting the scriptures to accommodate blatant sin and corruption in most of the adventist churches, and institutions all over the world. unconverted pastors and leaders believe that the Advent message must be bent and modernized, so that church members and students can be accommodated and continue to practice open sin in the churches. Jesus commissioned us to go and sin no more, sin cannot sustain itself, it is already starting to destroy the churches and institutions. The church is not a social club, The Word of God must be preached and taught so that human beings can abandon their sins. and surrender to God's Word. Jesus really wants to save us, that is the reason He laid down is life for humanity. Sodom and Gomorrah, and Noah's days are very obvious in our society. The wheat and the tares will never unify on God's Word. Tares do not love truth, that is one of the reasons Jesus, (who is truth) came to His own people but they did not know Him, instead they crucified Him. Those wheat and tares will have to stay together until the day of harvest, When Jesus returns with His reward, He will do the separation. I am praying for pastor Wilson and his team, at such a time as this. May the Holy Spirit continue to give them all the courage, wisdom, and understanding on this journey, The advent messages have been attacked from inside, and outside of the church. like Daniel and John Baptist, they stood up against sin and darkness in their time, with God's help, we can do it too.

Coming very late to the conversation, but I just discovered your podcast and I love it so much, I’m trying to catch up! I totally disagree when Myles says that the state of the dead, and more specifically the doctrine of eternal hell fire, has nothing to do with the gospel. The gospel stems from God’s character of love. But if God lets people burn in hell forever after a very limited period of sinning time here on earth, then God is NOT love and the gospel is NOT good news. If God is not love, there is no Jesus coming down as a human for us in order to die for our sins and offer us eternal life. If God is not love, there is no gospel of salvation. God being love also means that, although I am saved today, because I am justified and because I accepted and love the gospel, which is producing fruit in my life, I can still decide to turn my back on all of this and reject all that I know and love now. There is still a way out of this. It would be crazy in my mind’s eyes right now, but if God is love, then this has to be possible (maybe that’s why we still need an “investigative” judgement). Anyway, keep up the good work, the conversations you’re having are soooooooo interesting!!!

My thing is the exceptional silence from God not trying to make things clear. Like he just says things which could be interpreted a varity of was and just walks away, not trying to make it clear. At dont think God knows how to make things clear. Or maybe He does it on purpose to see what is in our hearts. I hate the slavery to LGBTQ comparison. But i get her point about how perception can change. I veiw slaves in the bible more like servants, not the capturing and forcibly working of people worse than animals, and killing them if they express their free will. But God provided moral guides of how to have servants, not just anything goes, being endorsed by God as a way to help the poor and less fortunate. But maybe that's just my perception as a black Christian.

Leviticus 18 vs 22 starts off as thou shall not! This is banning an action! From listening to this video I shall interpret homosexuality as a sin only if the motive is for a man to be forced into such an act. Men who volunteer themselves are okay. The Bible does not call sin a sin only if the motive is bad. If I decide to be robin hood and steal to give to the poor is my stealing no longer a sin because my motives were good? This lady his going directly against "thou shall not" because of feelings! You guys have to show where God gives a thou shall not for an action, and then later on changes his mind on the sin based on motives?

She argues about how we aren't consistent with the way we read the Bible. If we are going to apply one principal from a cultural context then we should consistently apply that in every scenario. But when you all discuss Leviticus 18, the whole chapter is about sexual morality. And you all decide that the issue of a man lying with a man is an okay thing to do as long as it's in the context of a loving monogamous relationship. So now my question is should we now apply that same principal to people and animals? What about people who want to marry their siblings??? Wouldn't this be a legitimate question to ask now about this whole chapter in Leviticus?

No, animals can neither sign consent to sex or a contract People should probably be allowed to wed a sibling- it’s not something that has an easy moral answer, though we think of it as one

Then you have Pastor Doug Batchalor and Clifford Goldstein at a N.A.D yearly convention almost single handedly pulling the SDA church into the currents of making abortion a crime by establishing that life begins at conception. This being done in an effort to allign with the coming wave of evangelical control economically and spiritually.Thats the main reason the institutional structure is silent on these issues, because their economic foundation is jepordized if they question the mounting crusade against homosexuals and others. You are in my prayers Kendra as are you who provide this podcast.I contrast Kendras explanation on the overall thrust of scripture moving toward harm reduction, with EG Whites saying the time she saw a hypnotist giving a presentation she said she could feel him trying to enter her mind and that she saw literal eyes coming out the tips of his fingers. That alone killed the idea of psychology and psyhcriatic consideration coming into the SDA church.

Popular culture is sensuality and ultimately a discipleship programme into paganism. So many Western Christians are so deep in it that they largely cannot discern the hold it has on them. For any minor details that LLS get wrong here and there, they sure nail the overarching premises.

Beautifully stated. “The great men who built up the Western Church were almost all trained Roman lawyers. Tertullian, Cyprian, Augustine, Gregory the Great (whose writings form the bridge between the Latin Fathers and the Schoolmen) were all men whose early training had been that of a Roman lawyer,-a training which moulded and shaped all their thinking, whether theological or ecclesiastical. They instinctively regarded all questions as a great Roman lawyer would. They had the lawyer's craving for exact definitions. They had the lawyer's idea that the primary duty laid upon them was to enforce obedience to authority, whether that authority expressed itself in external institutions or in the precise definitions of the correct ways of thinking about spiritual truths. No branch of Western Christendom has been able to free itself from the spell cast upon it by these Roman lawyers of the early centuries of the Christian Church.” Thomas Lindsay, _A History of the Reformation,_ vol. 1, pg. 168

Hello Kendra, l have not heard you say anything of the sorts that you earnestly sought the Lord and waited for His answer. Instead you have made several decisions to 'find' God by looking to people: You joined a fundamentalist group and you were disappointed, you went to divinity seminary but still did not find God, you read a lady's book which caused you ro find your true bisexsual self. ??? Based on what you have said, it is evident that your journey has been riddled with uncertainty and low confidence and are unable to find your worth as a being made in the image of God. I strongly suggest that you take time out to earnestly seek to truly find God on a personal level before you jump to attack the Church's policies on LGBT. Unfortunately you have been living out an institutional faith that have resulted in your challenge position at this time. You said Ĝod is blessing you but the bible tells us that He cannot bless a self-righteous mind. Be mindful that gaining a blessing of followers and money and opportunities while living in fornication and disobedience is not coming from Yaweh or Yeshua. Please be willing and patient to listen to God through is word and guarantee you will find your true identity and worth in Him. Please be careful to surrender your raw emotions and your narrow view of SDA as a lot more maturity is needed on your part. Blesings on you if this have been good counsel for you.

of course, I am stumbling upon this very late in the game. Really resonated with much of what Ty Gibson had to say. it would have been nice if you guys had discussed the investigative judgment as I know there are some Adventists who don’t believe the doctrine which is quite ironic because it is the only doctrine that distinguishes us from all other Christian denominations. As far as I know Tai Gibson does believe the investigative judgment and as for me, it is one of the most beautiful aspects to Adventism when understood correctly. nobody asked me, but for me an Adventist as someone that is faithful to God‘s word and demonstrates his faithfulness or her faithfulness by unswerving obedience motivated buy a faith that works through love. as Thai Gibson said, God is love and God is just. Justice will always demand judgment and in order for judgment to be fair, investigation is needed. Much love to you guys.v

“You can succeed, but it depends on you, on your passion, your motivation, and your work ethic. The limiting factor is you, not some racist system that no longer exists, and hasn’t for a long time. That is reality, and that is the empowering message we should be sending to black young people, not this garbage about George Floyd and supposed police brutality.” Does this sound like the Gospel? This was published in Fulcrum 7, a Christian website. “34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35 How are we doing folks?
