I'm a UK based professional rifle stock builder. Nowdays I mainly work on Airguns for the majority of the target disciplines and hope in time to compile a channel that will be a good resource for those of you who have an interest in the related woodwork.
I'm also a keen fisherman, so will cover some of the custom bits I make and maybe if I'm lucky catch some fish,on film on my own gear.

Building explosive air rifle targets.... Engage safety squints!
The best air rifle plinking target I've ever built!
Here im building a long range air rifle practice target. you wont miss this one when you get a direct hit.
The blanks are the old hilti nailer blanks in .27 rimfire calibre . its fair to say i got a bit more than i bargained for with these. they are great fun and easy to make. When we get a break in the wind i will push this one out to the longer ranges as it will be a very challenging target in the wind.
i also look at how dangerous blank firers really are with a test against the safety glasses, which im pleased to say passed the test with flying colours!

NSRA bench rest build part1 Here's how I built my new custom front bench rest from odds and ends and using just basic tools. I'm sure it will end up evolving in the future but it works really well and is super stable. This is a front rest and the Anschutz 9015 is shot from the shoulder with gloved rear hand. i will likely make another to suit the air arms xti50.. both rifles can have their own ...

Russia's most extreme air rifle pellets? High power and surprisingly accurate..
Просмотров 10 тыс.3 месяца назад
The best hunting pellet? quite possibly.. especially at longer ranges. i test a selection of pellets from Kvintor ,with the gamma heavy dome model and some from berserker. They are all heavyweight pellets primarily designed for fac rifles but run surprisingly well through the sub12 air arms xti50. they are also surprisingly good in some very wind conditions. They would certainly make a great pe...

Testing the vector optics sentinel x 10-40x50 rifle scope on both .22lr and sub12 air rifles. The world of precision bench rest can be an expensive place to be, the sentinel x sets the new standard of affordable optics. I use Acorn nuts to cover the pointy ends of my benchrest legs. Prevents getting stabbed and you can even leave the on, when using the rest, if you don't want to mark up your shooting bench.
That's a great idea mate ,thanks.. I've not got particularly sharp points on the feet ,but I could sharpen them and then use the nuts to cover them for different bench tops.. great idea 😎
Very interested, how can I order if these are currently available? Tia Rich
Hello I'm new to shooting. I use a wax lube on my bike chains would that work? It's called squirt chain lube
Hi mate, on balance I'd personally avoid wax based lubes. There's a good chance of un wanted buildup around the rifle. I don't feel the need to lube any of my pellets other than testing stuff in the vids. My competition pellets aren't lubed either 😉
@tillysgunstocks what about washing them?
Bloody Nora this bloke can talk for England.
Is your scope loose? Or something else. All varables are varable... Loving your videos
Sadly I couldn't get any sense out of them through all my rigs. Super strange as they look so good 🤔
Wow, well done
Cheers mate, its great fun pushing the ranges right out 😉
Can you believe idiots smash those Hilti blanks with a hammer? Yeah, i know.
😆😆 that's sketchy even for me...
I once made some spinners from hole saw scrap. The hole saw had a .25" pilot drill. The discs were welded to the hanger stem from the rear, leaving a .25" blind hole in the face of the target. Center hits on the hole make a very satisfying POP sound! Lets you know right away you made a perfect shot. Do it more than one and the pellets stack themselves in the hole... Learning this gave me the idea of drilling a series of blind .25" diameter holes in a larger steel plate. Basically replaces ever needing to shoot paper again. Multiple aim points. Nice audible & reactive feedback. And a quick squirt of spray paint refreshes the face for the next go. Of course, pellets only, at a ricochet safe distance...
Sounds a fun project that! 🤔😉
Engage safety squint 😂. Glad you didn’t get hurt. AvE sells that as a sticker.
Lol yeah I might get the stickers for the workshop 😆
Une mouche avait donnée l'indication du centre
Test atleast 30 mtrs
I never want to purchase these pellets again
Did this in the 80’s with a 12ga blank in a hole in a board. The Fiochi imprinted bruise on my face necessitated the addition of a slide over ‘safety catch’ for the cartridge! 😉👍🏻
They say that you can't teach an old dog new tricks, well in this instance you have.🙀. Brilliant idea for an old dog with multiple health issues and tired eyes, thank you TT💨
Awesome stuff mate. Glad it's helpful 😉
Crapping my pants just layed out £3100 brand new xti50 hft in black , red ones say I’m team air arms, can I believe ya ok 👍 I’ve got deep pockets, I’m gonna do a blog on my experience with a “bog” standard not tuned by the air arms wizardry for the special ones , it arrives on Friday not gonna do the usual unboxing, I’ll test its true accuracy it will first start on a 25 meter bench rest indoors? Can’t believe anyone as done this till this Sunday? I love air arms but was shoved aside for asking questions about problems with the xti50 hft because im a 60 year old bloke who’s owned a air rifle since I was 10 , mrs Clare west challenge excepted , trust me ill prove you wrong x
Have you taken a look inside the 510 yet, to see if there is any moisture getting in and have you got any recommendations on filter?
I made some years ago with shotgun primers, made you deaf when they were hit 😂
How about a flip plate on a hinge behind the chicken, blank propelled?
I thought you need a certificate to posses them? Anybody know about this?
They’re blank cartridges - no certificate needed
Hey Tilly, did you tried " hunde propper" ( Danmark). I would recommend this in stead, they are not so dangerous, theaper and much funnier, with smoke, glimts and sound, very good for long range bench shooting. In Denmark vi kan buy them around new year. Vi could buy them for for sixty years ago too in a little cardboard with 25 pieces. We used a little pistol, cock the trigger an put one in the end of the barrel, and make new years sound with them. Great for bullseye on 50 metres. Best regards No wind Denmark
I will only use JSB after watching the video on yt about a visit to the factory and their quality control from the lead alloy mix to weighing to visual inspections by 8 women under magnifying glass and bad ones discarded to go back into next lead pour. Hades, jumbo exacts, and Stratton all 15.89gr in my .22 very accurate in both my Weirauchs 100 & 110k 👍😉
What’s the most accurate Airarms xti50 or anschutz 9015/hp?
Well that's a question and half... There's nothing between them at typical competition ranges upto 55yds. We're really at the limit of the pellets at this point. However at the extreme ranges of sub 12 the xti absolutely blows the 9015 out the water. I was planning to use my 9015 as my winter br rig, there's a few vids setting it up and prepping the front rest etc. However it became apparent quite quick that I could shoot the red xti more accurately on the nsra br cards. With a couple of extra X's per card. I couldn't ignore that so I've made the swap to the xti for the br comps now. The sight picture is marginally stiller on the 9015 and the trigger can possibly go lighter in its break weight but I've got both the 9015 and xti set up nice and light and safe. With my current setup they feel the same. That was intentional so I can swap between them with no dramas. I've actually got a 9015 trigger blade on the xti now too. The xti also deals with the extremes of temperature better than the 9015, as noticed last week shooting a br card Indoors at 2°c . Same couldn't be said for me. I was freezing..😆 I love them both but the xti fits me a little better hence I can squeeze a bit more out of it. I'm working on some new parts for the chassis currently to improve my shooting position for the disciplines I shoot so there's a chance I can get a bit more out of it still. Given the chassis version is due quite soon I'd probably hold off and see what factory options that has before making any decisions. 😉
I’ve sourced a 9015 John Harris tuned but I like Airarms but it’s a tough one thanks for the reply
The grin on your face when they went off made me smile. Having fun is what it's all about 🙂
Sometimes we all get a bit too serious, targets like this are great to just go and enjoy ourselves eh... Definitely need to improve the safety of it a bit though 😬
Great video mate, we used to do stuff like that with high power centre fire ammunition.
Wow that sounds fun but very sketchy 😆
Why rabbit and hen siluettes are so popular?
I'm not entirely sure, probably a throwback from pest control stuff. The proper silhouettes are rams and bison too? Not sure why?
@@tillysgunstocks Yea, me, finding weird points of view from every aspect. xD Its more or less cultural, maybe in china they dogs, middle east pigs.. etc. :P
Have you tried shotgun primers? Very cheap per 100. I've used them close in at a very slight angle (with eve protection) with air pistols (around 10m) and air rifles at 25. Gives a loud Pap! Not so loud the Police get called 😁. Very satisfying in the workshop at 30+ feet (10m). We used to drill holes through scrap wood, push the primers in, often with 1inch red dots over the primers, angle the wood very slightly to one side, pop the glasses on & away you go. If my memory serves it was with mainly a Beeman P1 and a Webley Tempest? Hurricane?
That sounds great fun 😀 I'll have a look Into them cheers!
T u stumbles on to the ultimate pellet trap!. Stack three or four of them glasses with some putty.😂
😆 polycarbonate is amazing stuff mate. It's super tough.. I'll get through a pair eventually even if I have to dig out the big guns 😆
You found a posh one the two I have are more like a bolster chisel and about 20 boxes of pellets
I definitely got lucky ,I've not actually spent any time seeing if the hilti works though. I don't really have a use for it,but the cartridges .. oh yeah😆
Lodged in glasses
Watch out for rocket propelled brass shrapnel,I ended up with ten stitches on my forehead doing something similar, and that was from 20yrds,even bits lodged in my glasses
Yep I need to look at a slightly revised design. Potentially have the cartridges behind a more typical target paddle with a firing pin affair 🤔
@@tillysgunstocks i might have my old final design one somewhere
Skip diving, find any HW100s in there but too ashamed to say you snagged one? M8 tapping drill is 6.8mm aaaaaaand I have no idea how I know that. Cheers Mr Gunstocks
Funnily enough I realised that about 2 mins after I'd gently fettled the holes out 😆 I'd probably leave the HW in the skip tbh... Lol joking.. wouldn't mind one of them from a skip tbh
Be super careful of newtons 3rd law - having fragments from a blank come back = eye injury What about 2 plates & those little 8 round cap gun blanks? - figure out semi auto reload on all 8 :)
I reckon exactly that happened 😬 Kinda weird that this type of target is readily available in the shops now I think about it 😆😎
This is officially RUclips's dirtiest Airgun channel... from looking at skirts all day to admiring Tilly's really strong & beautiful looking cock...erel.... WTF - Targets don't even automatically reload??? unsubscribe... What you've got is commonly known as a "Ramset gun" - which is the brand name of the AUSSIE company that invented powder actuated fasteners. You can put a fastener into 3/4" of steel... concrete blocks/slabs - easy work
We use to use the 6mm starter pistol blanks a few years ago, they go with a bang as well
Cor yea I bet they do go with a decent crack 🤯
I think the problem you had with the blow back/ricochet was you compromised the base of the cartridge and allowed the blast to blow towards you. If you could make a rig with a small plate to shoot at that would have a pin to impact the rim of the cartridge it would detonate safely. and the force of the blast would travel away from you.
I reckon you're correct mate, I think I split the target with the pellet ,half went through and set it off,the other half the split was flung back at me. Definitely need a more typical target paddle arrangement with the cartridges behind it... 😉
I stuck some of these to a little wooden toy boat and shot it in stream very entertaining
I quite fancy a few moving targets as it goes 😆
This was really fun and a nice change from what we all tend to do, being serious with paper targets 👍
I've been so busy lately mate and feeling rough as, I really fancied a fun project just to enjoy and it certainly was fun if a bit sketchy! 😎
Takes me back about 40 years ,we had great fun with the black ones.
I reckon the hilti is about 40 years old.. 🫣 Got to be pretty old now with the imperial threaded nails🤔
tad risky yes . but oh so much fun . although it really does emphasise safety specs . they took a full on hit there but that would have definitely saved an eye for sure . not just in close range air gunning but in anything one is doing were they is any chance of flying debris
So much fun mate, I'm gutted I got a bit complacent though. I could have edited all that out but it's a good reminder for all of us eh...😉
Fun but a bit sketchy, I’ve had the primer/pellet come back and hit me in hand doing this. Shooting at around 25yds it hit between trigger finger and my thumb, whilst still on the rifle, not got the minerals for anything but paper and knockdowns now 😜, keep the vids coming look forward to the next one.
Yep definitely a bit sketchy.. I could have easily edited that all out, but it's a good reminder to all of us not to be complacent eh...😉
Very impressed with Screwfix's cheapest safety glasses! That was good fun. Thanks for posting.
They're amazingly tough safety squints, the shape isn't great for being behind a scope but they're definitely a wise idea on the sketchier target builds😎
When i was a child my friend took a shot gun shell and wedge it in a tree so he could shoot the primer with a BB gun. When he did the BB hit the primer and came back at him and shoot his eye out. So I am concerned you target set up may be unsafe especially it hard lead, od pellets it BB heads, polymer tips. So be careful on what you use. What about leaving the blank sheel out a try shooting through the hole.
Next version will have the cartridges behind a target paddle so nothing can come back towards me jet propelled 😬
Love the way you look after your Workmate!
I fished a pair of them out the scrap pile a few years back😆 they're well knackered farm ones now😉
Never like the Festool made fence for this router. They were well aware that it is poorly designed (and cheaply made), and finally came up with a new edge that can be installed either side.
I use this router more than all the rest nowdays, shame the factory fence was so poor but overall it's just perfect for the medium duty work. I wish I'd made the jump sooner. I've got the 1/2 version too since.. 😀
GREAT VID MATE .
Cheers mate 😉
Nice target 👍 I made one using 12 gauge blanks (20+ years ago) unfortunately unless your in the middle of nowhere you’d get complaints at best Or the swat team coming around for a coffee and biscuits at 3 am the next morning, looking for your firearms 😂😂 😊 Nice target all the same 😊👍
Luckily I'm in the middle of nowhere ISH.. 😆
Have you been binge watching Airgun Sniper Elite's video's????🤣👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
To be fair I had planned this one months ago,but the farm had all the grass up and it was like a tinder box so waited until the winter set in and everything is wet 😉
Brilliant target IV did something similar, I used a wheel bolt. Cut the top bit off and turned it so i had a firing pin then drilled the rest off the bolt for the blank for the hinge link of motor bike chain and a couple spots of weld. It definitely doesn't throw anything back at you target's that react are so fun
I definitely need to look at some safety upgrades for this, maybe some parts from the hilti can be used so there's no chance of ricochet🤔
Excellent Sunday morning hilarity !! 🤣
Could you tell I was peed off being complacent with myself 😬
