  • Testing out the artcise dt70 mini desktop arca swiss tripod
this is a budget arca swiss mini tripod and is of exceptional quality despite the modest price. the plan is to use it on the target air rifles for some of the long range work. Im really surprised how robust it feels and it definitely will be useful for pest control too.
its early days yet but i think ill prefer to use a tripod over a bipod, which surprised me a lot.
with arca swiss becoming much more popular this will almost certainly be a very well priced tripod for target shooting
i have it fixed onto the anschutz 9015 but will work out some adapters to fit the airmaks katran and the awesome air arms xti50
the scope im using is the new falcon endura ffp

The weight rating usually refers to the weight the ballhead will support with out moving rather than the weight loaded on the tripod before it will colapse. There will be a point where the weight centre is too far out from the ball head and it will slowly droop. Large camera lens have a foot so you mount the lens to the ball head instead of the base of the camera body to get a betterweight distribution.

Seeing more rifles coming with Arca rails fitted, so looks to be worthwhile with the right tripod.

Yep it's a welcome addition mate especially when combined with uit and mloc for accessories. Hopefully all the manufacturers start making the jump😉

Hi, I just watched your vid and was very impressed, so jumped onto ebay to look for one, only one I can see is from China at £63 so I think someone has been quick on the up and bumped the price up 😂, if you have a link to the one at 43 I'd appreciate it, keep up the good work m8

    Excellent,
I converted to tripods last year, standing, sitting and on the bench.
    Invalid innovation 😂.
My shooting bench has 4 40mm holes drilled through it, just so I can lower the central pole. Without butchering the tripod.
If you have a link for that exact tripod, I'd appreciate it. I'll risk 42 quid😊.
    Works for me.

Artcise dt70 mate.and the long 30cm rail was a generic Ali one off the bay too. It's super robust especially at that money.. I'm sure you'll find it a good deal 😉
I've just chopped the central post down to it's min Insertion.its way more rigid now

I have HW100 with an arca rail and tripod to go with it. The ball head is honestly quite a lot of hassle, I use pan / tilt fluid head, much better imho.

Well, it's Benchrest Shooting, but neither ISSF/NSRA or WBSF/UKBRA standard, and would be considered cheating using that tripod for either, but it does look extremely stable, prolly very good for pest/vermin control, doe box, or a high seat.
You'd be surprised at the difference between ISSF and WBSF rules, ISSF is more about the gun butt only supported by you in the left-hand/right shoulder (or vice versa) on a firm flat surface which isn't holding or guiding the forestock or recoil, and WBSF is all about managing recoil, guiding the forestock on a sand filled bag surface and sides, and the same recoil guiding of the butt on a sand filled rear bag and in your shoulder.
I shoot both competition standards, with the WBSF being the most expensive in terms of shooting equipment, particularly tripods, which might range from homebrew to several hundred quid for ISSF, and several hundred to several thousand quid for WBSF.
    So £42 appears a bargain.

    Playing devils advocate.
If you are cheating and using a tripod or bipod.
Are you truly as accurate as you think you are?
I'd say not... The only time you can claim your accuracy is if you hold the gun and shoot without 'stability' aids.
What that is, is another crutch for those who cannot shoot.

When I was up to 50 I would think, I could out shoot most, with open sights, or scope, I was told I was a natural shot, with either rifle, pistol, shotgun. Now I'm 72, and although I'm still a pretty good shot, I need to use a rest, wait till you get to my age you won't be so keen to call those of us who use a rest, as you'll find you'll need one, yeah I said I'd never need one as well

@@tillysgunstocks I had a similar sounding issue several years ago..
Pain everytime I lifted my rifle up to aim.
I had an MRI... I had developed bubbles of fluid in my tendons...
The large bubbles were reduced with a needle and syringe via guided x-ray. Painful as hell BTW.
Te rest was literally a case of... Rest dont do anything to aggravate it and it will eventually get better.
It took a couple of years before I could shoulder my rifle again.
I didnt shoot at all, I just put them in the rack and left them there until I was better.
