I’ve made spinning targets in the past. Same as you I bought spinners online and I bolted them to a wooden post. I also bought 5mm to 20mm. X3mm Steel and cut to length and twisted and drilled. I made loads of spinners. Very satisfying making your own targets
That's pretty cool! 👍 As another option, you could turn the blade 90 degrees and shoot/flip the paddle from side to side. That would give you gravity free resetting and you can still use different sized holes for precision shooting. 😉
I’m a chippy and have looked at all those different sized bore holes on my scrap blades and wondered how to make targets that will work simply. Amazon for a cheap tap and die set me thinks.well done.
What they say about simple solutions often being the best. Great idea will look at doing something similar for grandson to have some fun with. Be interested to see how long it lasts
The middle of saw blades is usually NOT hardened, maybe a little bit tempered to cope with tension on cutting but usually it's just tips that are designed to be rock hard ( carbide/ tungsten steel) 👍😉
Ah yeah ,I should have stuck some on the plate.. it's quite a nice dull thud though.. the paddle smacking the back is louder than a hit to the face plate😉
@@tillysgunstocks I enjoy watching your videos. You are very thorough when you do pellet tests etc. I’m pretty new to air rifle shooting and have found your channel very useful. Thanks for the information and keep the videos coming.
@tillysgunstocks absolutely not mate! 🤣 At least the centre of the blade was soft enough to drill without needing to. Lick of paint on the spinner and you're sorted! 😉
Thanks for the idea .. I think I will give it a go. Since the paddles don't actually need to be round (the holes are round enough) I may try make them from scrap metal ... but if that fails would you share the amazon item for the paddles ?
That's brillant, Tommy! Just like a superb piece of craftsmanship and is practical target for training sametime. Do you want to get a sample riflescope for your new target? We are willing to offer you the one for review.
Morning Arken.. it's turned out great and will be a real challenge at the extreme sub12 ranges. If you have a scope in the range that would suit my shooting I'll give it a good thrashing. I'll shortly be building a new rig for some of the PRS based sub12 disciplines so something along the lines of what I use now might work.. Best to catch me on my FB page 😉
Lol like the idea, specially when resetting is a harder/ smaller target :) , after many shots i can imagin the thread you made wears out and the spinner wil hit the saw blade from the back and wont "stick" any more?
Hi mate. The key thing is to have the thread grab just as the paddle hits the back of the face plate/blade... So far it's holding up well but if it was adjusted badly,it would, as you say strip the threads eventually 😉
Great work. I am new to this and was looking to get into airgun shooting and saw the video on the led ban , the problem with the pellets skirt needing to expand slightly and led replacements not doing this as well, would a soft rubber skirt press fit into a steel head work ? like i said im new to this and it could just be a silly idea .
awesome idea , any chance of making a quiet version 🤔 as with many back garden shooters neighbours and noise can be an issue , maybe lead facing the saw blade or a wooden back to dull the ringing sound of the blade 🤔. also just a quick question , I'm looking for a beginners ( budget ) single shot pcp for ft and maybe benchrest , I was thinking a AA s 400
If you can find an old s400 mpr it would be perfect. They do hold their money as they are still very sought after but worth looking at. Funny enough I was just thinking about putting some of them thick felt like pads (that go on furniture feet) on some spinners to see how quiet they are🤔
I'm running sub12 but I'd imagine these spinners would be ok for a magnum springer maybe 16-18ftlb. Can't imagine they would hold up well to a 40+ ft-lb .25 PCP mind... The cutting discs appear to be pretty stout though 😉
That’s brilliant 👍 Sadly I don’t have the tools and more importantly the skill to produce something like this. I’ll have to stick to wood: using my saw and drill. Now where is my tape measure 🙄

Great diy design. Congrats on it working. Good stuff! 👍🏼

Nice little project and very simple
You could have missed just to give us a sound of the blade being struck. Great target looks cool and works well.

Well made and so easy to reproduce. Thanks.
Well done, another great project. Just watch those fingers on the swarf
I've not got many working fingers left mate, got to be careful 😉
I'm looking at plasma cutters now for some really mad targets...
@@tillysgunstocks I've a fancy for one but can't justify it at the moment
Great idea, thank you.
Great video as always. And a very nice little project for the upcoming winter months
Spot on fella. Ill be in the garage tomorrow knocking one up.
Great channel, beautiful rifles, shooting aint bad either, ha.
Take care dude
Brilliant stuff Tommy. Well done mate! 👍
Hi mate, it turned out great.. I wasn't going to be getting swarf and cutting oil all over my big pillar drill and wood working stuff though 😆

Great video brilliant idea, that target was nicely put together and simple iv got a old blade on the tool bord I was saving it for somthng 😁👍
well done works and looks fun very imprest

@@tillysgunstocks Cool, glad to know that. Can you tell me your email? We can discuss further. Thanks. 👍
Nice 😁and easy to make. 👍
Great idea
Nice job
What is that little wind indicator on the rifle? Is that a homemade deal or something you purchased?
Thanks for this!
Brilliant!
Great Video
There’s a stepped metal hole cutter easier to use and you can make the whole any size
It almost looks like a club from madmax wen you holding it up @14:19 :P
Don't say that 🤣🤣 probably get the video pulled now 😂
Excellent, great build.
I’ve made similar with a saw blade but put an exploding target behind the hole.
What is that device hold the piece of string on your rifle and how is it mounted?
It's a little articulating arm, we refer to them as windicators. Wind-indicators 😉
It's a factory fitted part on this one..
Might have a crack at that... Well similar.
That where my sawblades go
Just don't trip over it. It might cut your leg off 😆

We look to have got lucky regard the lead ban. Not so much the large calibre rifles, but air rifles look to have swerved it for now 😉
Nylon skirted pellets have been around since the late 70's

Nice
They are stainless steels that are actually magnetic, from light to more magnetic, depends what alloy mix they are.
Great video. Can you give me the link for the spinners. I can only find packs of 3. Thankyou.
You are a genius haha awesome setup. 🎉How many ft-lbs can the target zones handle.

If you just want zombie wep just stop at about 11 min
Shooting target and zombie decapitater 😆
Drill the hole for reset lower than centre will not need as much force to reset.
👉💯👍
