how thick is the plastic and how long did they last? Looks like it is getting dented with every short @3:20. And what if you hit the stem near the wire?

Thanks for your question. The plastic is a bit thicker than 1/4" / 6mm. And it held up pretty well, despite the dents. I switched over to pellets not long after making the video. Not as many dents. I have had a few shatter if you hit near the wire. It's definitely a weak point. After a couple of years, most of the spinners were trashed. I suspect the plastic was going bad, after untold years of being the sun before I got my hands on it. And the wood got a bit weathered and rotted. I consider a couple of years to be pretty good for this.

Looks good. Also props to you for reminding people of gun safety.

That's a big part of the fun. You certainly know when you have a solid hit!

Nice! Fun project, easy to understand and make. Probably better than one you can buy. Thanks.

Thanks for showing this. Just made a similar one (using thin metal ...didn't have any plastic). its a great idea and a lot more fun than paper targets or cans you have to put back every time!

If you don't care about rotating anf just want hanging targets, you could just start with an empty milk crate or even a cardboard box laying on it's side, open face towards you. Then take any size target out of wood or snipped tin, drill 2 holes on top side by side and hang that target on the top of the open hole by 2 strings... Voila, your targets will face forward always because of the 2 strings. You could do the same with a tin can.

Love it, recycling and a fun end product. Maybe people could try a simple impact test with the material and gun they are going to use be for making this target set.

I have a couple pieces of a plastic cutting board leftover from another project. I think that could work with this idea. I could pick up another cutting board also

As long as it's thick enough to drill for the pivot, I think you will be okay.

    Nice target!
Plastic is nice because it is quite lightweight. Even sweeter to lighten the lower target with another target on the upper side. Many airgun targets are so often "for use of pellets only" - just because of those darn ricochet BBs.. And I own so many BB pistols - that mostly are a bit less powered in comparison to the pellet pistols.
