      I was just thinking of building something similar for my yard but I want to build a bigger version of this. I'm talking like the boards you used but around6 feet tall from the ground up so I can set up a small table in front of it and line it up with cans and water bottles to shoot at and have the boards behind them to catch the BB's and Pellets. I have a variety of different Pistols and Rifles including a DPMS SBR Fully Auto BB Rifle and a Steel Storm that's also Fully Auto like an UZI. When I got them spraying BB's at cans and bottles I'll need something wide behind the targets to catch everything while I'm pretending I'm Rambo lol. ;)

    Why stop at one measure? Triple-proof it with:
    1. A steel plate screwed into the rear.
    2. An angled back-wall to direct the bb down.
    3. A mess of rags to steal their momentum.

    Nice shop you have for such projects.
    Some years ago in an apartment I used a 12" cube double corrugated cardboard box filled with alternating layers of foam rubber, phone books, and folded newspapers. The targets were taped to the front flaps.
    At about 4 yards the pellet coming out of the muzzle at 1200-1300 fps were stopped less than halfway through.
    Not nearly as nice as yours, but it worked, and was free.
    I gave your video a thumbs up. Well done on your box.

    Nice job! I built mine before I saw your video, very similar in design and size, but you do not have to use a clipboard.
    Just slide the target down the slots that you made for the clipboard. I use 8.5x11 cardstock to print my targets, if you do not have cardstock, use thin cardboard as a target backer. Towels or rags may be ok to stop the pellet at Sub 12 ft lbs. but I used Duct Seal in mine and it stops 26 gr. slugs at over 900 ft per sec. out of my FX Impact.

    Just love the way you did a decent job on this box design pellet trap. Once found a good sized clipboard, then you are ready go and do a decent pellet trap around it. I've bought clipboards myself also for my airgunning.😁 Mostly done my traps out of sheet metal though - but none with this box design.

    If you use wad cutters and put a piece of bed sheet in box or any pellet really and a sheet piece hanging from top only and lose on sides and bottom you can re use the pellet cuse paper doesn't disform the pellets and the sheet catches them.before they hit the back of boxes wood and deform them that's what I did and havnt needed to be a single pack of competition pellets in last 6 months and they still hold same acuracy. Because the pellets you use for airgun 10 meter Olympic style are very expensive 90 dollars for a pack of 200

      The tools are just for show, you can use your colon sense and do this whole project with a hand saw and a drill 👍

      @@CasualDIY I just made this with hand tools , didn't take long, just don't go making it huge unless you got some arms. I did mine maybe 50% bigger than this in just a couple hours with hand tools. If you are not so good in arm strength and endurance I recommend sticking to the size shown in video. Hand sawing and hand screwing is a work out, but we'll worth it for the chance to practice my accuracy

      This box is for a standard air rifle, you full the box with rags, old towels etc. and you can have some fun. But of your gun is so powerful then I would recomend a shooting range for safety reasons 👍

    • @CasualDIY
      @CasualDIY  4 года назад

      It's design for weaker air riffles, and you have to put some old rags or towels inside, that's what actually stops the pellets 👍

    Maybe, just maybe good enough for airsoftguns. If I shoot this with an airgun, the pellet will NOT be stopped. Sorry, but this is not save.

    that doesnt do anything more than shooting at a piece of wood will do. 0:22 thats just dumb. make it out of metal and shits gonna be bounce back out of there destroying your target and making the idea of the box useless.

  • @breakername9995
    @breakername9995 5 лет назад +1

    those screws won't hold over time. all those fancy tools for a horrible box that will easely get destroyed by any decent pellet gun

    • @CasualDIY
      @CasualDIY  5 лет назад +1

      Still holding strong with no issues, maybe it will fall apart in 10 years but by then I will make another one. How you use it is you fill it up with old rags, towels etc. To stop the pellets ( the back wall of the box is not intended to be main stopper for pellets ).
      The looks of the box and the material used was dictated by the customer so it is what it is. In the end it's a box to stop pellets and not a Victorian cabinet. Have a great day👍

  • @dan6151
    @dan6151 3 года назад +2

    useless... a pellet can easily penetrate 1 inch particle board

    • @CasualDIY
      @CasualDIY  3 года назад

      Again.... you need to fill the box with old rags, towels etc. They stop the pellet not the back of the box. It's for low powered air guns not tanks.

      @@CasualDIY in that case you may as well use a cardboard box stuffed with fabric.

  • @sfcmmacro
    @sfcmmacro 4 года назад +2

    Nope... not safe. Today’s pellet guns will punch right through that, especially after several shots at the bullseye.
    You have to add a system of angled steel baffles, or several layers of heavy carpet to catch the pellets.
