- Making universal scope throw levers from breakaway fishing rod coasters...
I didn't fancy paying 30 odd quid for a tiny aluminium magnification throw lever so here i show you what ive been using for many years on various scopes and night vision units.
i ended up making both a magnification and parralax levers which will make life a lot easier whilst wearing a shooting glove. They are super cheap and work fantastically well and will fit many different brands of riflescope.
The scope is an Arken optics ep5 5-25x56 and the rifle is an AirArms xti50.
i also take a look at my scope levelling wedges for a super easy scope mounting option
I'm a disabled shooter with grip issues, this is a brilliant idea. You've just made my life easier ❤️
Awesome stuff😀
You may have already seen it,but the airability yt channel and Facebook groups ,ran by my mate Matt are all about helping out and encouraging those with disabilities to get stuck into the Sport 😉
@@tillysgunstocks I've run into his videos, he's quite an inspiration and very knowledgeable.
I have been faffing about looking at 3D printed versions that will fit with no success. Thank you very much, you just made my life easier 👍
I've been using these for about 5 years and they a great. Particularly useful for front parallax adjustment on Hawke scopes.
Great inexpensive idea. thanks for passing that on.Cheers
On a different topic. I know there are many videos on scope zeroing but I sure would like to see how you zero a new scope. Thanks Bill
Hi Bill, in my last video of the Arken scope I briefly touched on it.
For clarity I drew the large cross first with the top horizontal line. Then added the lower horizontal line to make it easier to see what was going on after I'd made a few shots to check where the initial poi was.
I have used these on a couple of my rifle scopes already, prior to ever seeing this video. Thes things work amazingly well! Definately the cheapest "throw lever" you will ever buy. Great video brother. Thanks for sharing! Cheers mate!
Nice little quick fix
Thank you for idea. I ordered a pair and received them today. Thanks again Bill
I have a set of those scope parallel wedges that try their best to escape as well! Very interesting idea with the coasters, thanks for sharing.
😂😂 I literally dropped the lower wedge 3 flamin times ,couldn't believe it😆.
bloody weather! tell me about it! i have been waiting for some decent weather to come along so i can do my little review of my EP-5, that idea of using the coasters is great so i will be nicking your idea! it will make life so much easier.
Thank you, just what I needed. I enjoyed your surf fishing video. I have been been fishing in the surf most of my life. The fall bass run here is fantastic. Thanks again for the throw lever idea. Bill
Catching fish on film is a different sort of challenge. I really enjoyed it but need to work on better filming techniques.
I'm half tempted to start a fishing channel as it goes.. the boys and I fish a lot and catch a bunch aswell as have a good time doing it😉
Quite a memory, watching my son catch his first fish and shoot his first duck. I hope to be doing that with my grandsons in a few years. All the best. Bill @@tillysgunstocks
What a great idea, thank you.
Also great for attaching Combro type chronographs
They are indeed mate 😉
Great idea. I have a stiff parallax dial on my MTC Cobra. I've just bought some on eBay. Thanks.
Excellent video, just ordered a couple on eBay, many thanks Edd.
I also have arthritis, and grip is a problem for me. I ordered my set from Amazon today!!
Thank you. Good bit of kit info and know how👍👍
The magnification ring on my Burris scope is stiff and tough to turn easily.
I looked at the various options and decided I wasn't going to pay the ridiculous prices they wanted for them
Put one of these on it and have never looked back.
They work great for a much better price!
I clipped the ends off flush with the turn knob and lightly melted them with a micro torch to remove the sharp cut edge.
You can buy flush cutting model & cable tie cutters quite cheap. Makes cutting things like the coasters really easy.
Perfect I have a scope that has pretty stiff magnification and parallax wheels! 👌
Awesome mate. Let us know how you get on with them 😉
@tillysgunstocks I've ordered 2 packs they are arriving Tuesday.
I've seen the scope leveling tool on AliExpress but wasn't sure about them, it looks like it works well.
@tillysgunstocks They've arrived and it's how you described it! It looks like it came with the scope!
@@qg786 awesome mate I'm glad you are happy how it worked out. I'll pin this up top of the comments 😉
Brilliant idea
Another great idea, thanks
I've been using the coaster for a long time, about forty years.
Been using these on my scopes for a few years now
Ive been using these for a couple years, £2, or £15 for a throw or focus lever for several scopes, mounts up!,ge
What size are the coasters mate?
Done exactly the same to my discovery 5-30x56 cos the mag ring stiff
everyday genius hack
Nice clicks on you torque screwdriver 😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂 I wondered when someone would notice..😉
Torque screwdrivers are a waste of money for scope setups. theres a RUclips channel called gunblu that explains why and that a major firearms manufacturer didn’t use them. Plus a lot of them on the market are not very accurate.
Ahhh multiple crying with laughter emojis and some people still miss the joke😂
As of today the cheapest i could find are £6 . 5p on Ebay, for two, 😁👍
eBay fees and postage, still a bargain if you haven't got a tackle shop near 😉
@@tillysgunstocks yep just saying that's all , i ordered two, 😁👍
What are these called in the US?
I'd imagine they are still called coasters, breakaway do sell a fair bit of tackle in the USA
If you find out they are called something different ,id be keen to know and update on here 😉
They are on Amazon as Breakaway Nylon Coasters in the US. 2 for $16
