    Hello I had one of these for years and it was great, and I just got a new one so I thought I would make a positive comment and try to be helpful by saying that my new one I got is great just give it a nice even press down if the vacuum is struggling, and be careful with the flimsiest plastics I have found u need the better quality bags to get a reliable seal, still good, also I was planning to leave a comment and I had a healthy happy positive attitude and was keen to contribute and say something nice, but then ur warning popped up saying DONT BE AN IDIOT and I was like OK mate thanks for accusing me of being an idiot and telling me not to be an idiot, thanks for even bringing it up. Then I really ruminated for a while on Wether or not to even post this comment if you immediately put up this warning about IDIOTS and I'm kind of like.... I'm a nice guy posting a nice comment, why are you attempting to make me want to think twice? Seems really unnecessary and a bit bossy and as such I will not be commenting or posting a comment. If you continue focussing on IDIOTS then all you will be in your life is IDIOTS. My personal recommendation is to start with a happy healthy positive language use such as "rule number one: be considerate of others " or something like that, I'm not sure why you choose to focus on the word IDIOTS so much then every other idiot reading this comment is gonna be like UGH whats this idiots problem .     Thanks for a very good review Gary! I actually found the recipe for Marco's vegetable lasagne on the BBC website and made it myself recently. It was delicious, but next time I will leave out the celeriac in the ragù, because I thought that taste became a little bit too dominant, also with the sheets of celeriac instead of pasta sheets. But altogether, definitely a great recipe by a great chef. I agree with you, he gives a lot of thoughtful advice on how to cook vegetables. Another one of his BBC videos on RUclips that I enjoyed, although not from the vegetarian course, is the one where he makes pipérade which he serves on fried salmon. I will try it this summer with some good tomatoes!

      Yes the celeriac is a nice touch but the aniseed flavour is quite strong. Clever though. I have tried the piperade too and it is excellent. Would be perfect with those late-August glut tomatoes! Thanks for stopping by.

      @@BigSpud By the way, it now looks as if BBC took away the option to buy a course for a lifetime. Only subscriptions, either one course or all of them. So I'm wondering: is the actual written recipe for each dish included in what you get when you buy a course? It says that there are notes to be downloaded, but no mention of recipes. Maybe I'm just not getting it ;) Thanks!

      the french name for potatoes is "pomme de terre" which literally means apple of the earth. its cause they both oxidize and turn brown/black once the skin is broken

    Thanks for the insight. Hopefully, BBC will take notes from this. Although I won't hold my breath, as I find most of BBC's software online is very glitchy. I think I've found these recipes on RUclips before. Which is good because they seem more Mastercard than Masterclasses. Do they have Gordon Ramsay Masterclasses?

      Thanks for stopping by - the price is definitely the biggest barrier. I would be so much more satisfied with a monthly subscription but in this niche it appears they all charge the same way. Speaking of which, there is an online Gordon Ramsay video course but it's on the "Masterclass" course which I've been debating subscribing just to review.     No way was I expecting a vegetarian course but no way was Marco a vegan!!! Interesting BBC masterclass insight too. Surprised Ottolenghi has not opted for this, as he is also a king of Veg. Fan of cheese but do avoid butter, especially on chips but that’s indulgence. Risotto wild mushrooms just sound epic! I’ve covered an amazing spicy mushroom lasagne from Ottolenghi Flavour cookbook but intrigued with layers of celeriac. Definitely downloading the app. Great coverage Gary & honest review, keep up the great work. James

    I really enjoyed the vegetarian course - more than the recipes (great though they be), the techniques he details have formed a solid core of fundamentals I now use in my cooking. The cooking down of aromatics and vegetables to remove water content, the seasoning of every element so that nothing has to compensate for lack of it, giving vegetable dishes the sense of occasion that I give my meat dishes, these are all superb lessons. I also find cooking videos soothing, so his work really well for relaxing to.

      Agreed on all fronts. Particularly the 'fundamentals' which are much clearer in this course than his other one. Very enjoyable.

      Like I said stick around for an offer. The last sale was 22nd - 31st May but before that 22nd - 30th April! There'll be another soon enough.
