    Thanks for the transparent video! I've wondered what the pay out was for someone without tons of viral views. Like you said, most videos like this are from people who've had viral success.

      I thought it would be useful for smaller creators in our niche to understand what they're getting into. But every market is different and this is a quiet time of year for advertisers, so no two channels are the same.

    Absolutely brilliant insight, you’re a natural Gary! Very interesting background and info. I’ve still not achieved this yet, which is frustrating for me. I’m near 2,500 viewing hours, although I’ve just achieved over 3,000 subscribers. I’ve actually started some videos which are not food related, like travel & walking videos. My biggest video has been dehydrating fruit & veg in my Ninja airfryer, so need to focus on something. Keep up the great work. I also struggle to get people to watch my full videos 👍🏼

      Thanks as always James. Well done on the 3k subs, you should be really proud of it. Like you I suffered with watch time for a while. Recipes are problematic as people jump to the 'making' section quickly. Checking analytics I doubled down on a few things that helped sustain it:
      * Tell viewers to "watch all the way through so you don't miss anything"
      * Consider going live - it's a different beast livestreaming but videos are by their nature longer and stay on your channel as an archive
      * Look at what already generates watch time in analytics, it might not be your most viewed video. Do more of that?
      * Product reviews worked well for me as they are more difficult to skim through (maybe using Ninja as a dehydrator purely as a review?)
      Good luck!

      @@BigSpudthanks Gary! Although I try not to get bogged down with the stats, you’re right, it is a great tool. I’m planning on some videos based on these areas. I’ve actually done one live but was just a test really. I need to plan ahead and schedule things relative to seasons and events. Tremendous inspiration, I genuinely enjoy your channel. Mine channel is focused on well being and healthy food, so is a niche market but I was always conscious of my channel name, in case I change my content. Thanks for your support & encouragement. James

      @@HappyHungryHibby having a niche is a good thing, once people find one of your videos they are hopefully more likely to binge it all. Mine is all over the place which makes me harder to pin down: chefs, courses, recipes, gadgets etc. I've got even more diverse content planned this year. It might not make audience as loyal but I enjoy making it. Thanks for the kind words.

    Top work buddy. Just a quick question regarding advertising. Do you get paid for people who watch your videos who subscribe to RUclips premium because they dont see the ads?

    • @BigSpud
      @BigSpud  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes and for some reason I skipped over it in the table at 7:52. I could be wrong but wizened youtubers have said that Premium views are worth more than ads in the majority of cases
