Interesting. I don't think we know enough about the gods/shards/unmade to say anything concrete regarding the specifics. In my theorizing I tend to think more in terms of what makes sense for the characters and arrive at similar conclusions. I agree that it makes the most sense for Dalinar to lose the contest of champions. The contest is too soon for them to defeat odium or make that the climax of the book. It seems like a first act thing to me. In a way Dalinar losing would unite Roshar since they've agreed to cease hostilities in either outcome and Dalinar is the leader of the knights radiant and the most powerful human military force on Roshar. Also I would cite Sigzils memories from sunlit man as evidence for some kind of schism in the knights radiant around this time. He mentions shredding the soul of a dear friend, questioning the idea of the honorable warrior, and some failure of leadership on his part. So it seems to me Dalinar will become Todiums general basically. Some of the knights radiant will stay loyal to him. Then the conflict will become something to do with Todium trying to corrupt spren and expand his influence into the spiritual realm and other worlds. Kaladin/Shallen/Singers and some new coalition of freedom fighters will be trying to save/uncorrupt spren ultimately achiving some pyric victory resulting in a tenuous peace on Roshar to last until the next series. It doesn't seem like the oathpact will be restored but I imagine they will find some way to defeat /contain Todium. Nightblood has already proven to be able to destroy Odiums vessel like eating a cake. Azure is wandering around Roshar with some new investiture eating sword which is probably an enhanced and slightly more morally discerning version of nightblood. I'm picturing some spiritual realm showdown with magic swords in the conclusion.

This is an interesting topic. I'm almost unspoilable. I pretty much agree with the study you cite. I often read the wikipedia plot summary of books and movies before I consume a piece of media because there are certain things I know I won't like. One of my favorite shows right now is house of the dragon which has an ending which is inherently spoiled because it's a prequel. On top of that I have read the book so I already know what is going to happen. It doesn't prevent me from wanting to watch the show. I often reread/rewatch things as well. I would never expect people to not talk about some media around me just because I haven't experienced it. I have always found all the tip towing online around people that don't want to be spoiled kind of annoying. In some ways the fact that something is a story already tells you what is going to happen. You can normally pick out the hero, love interest, and general plot of a story really quickly anyways. I guess the only caveat would be for something that is a mystery story. With those the whole point is that you are trying to guess what happens. Other than that I don't care about spoilers and in fact I sometimes want details of a story before I decide to invest time in it.

i love both series, but the writing style of grrm is my preferred out of both of them. george is so good at writing real feeling humans and i love the first person view style of his books. stormlight is so much more uplifting and has these awe inspiring moments with things like dalinar at the end of the third book or kaladin at the end of the 4th

I like the back half of your theory. I think if we had somebody take up the shard of honor and then the shards get United, then it would be way to close to the ending of the hero of ages. But if both shards stay independent and work together, I think that would be a much more interesting dynamic, especially with the radiant orders being as diverse in beliefs as they are, I could totally image them not wanting to follow a shard of conquest, but if it were two shards then I think it could work.

I think that Dalinar can do more than other Bondsmiths because Honor is dead.

I don't have a favorite shard, but I do think the name of the 16th shard is Wanderlust.

I find Stormlight one of the most overrated series i have ever read. The prose is average compared to Asoiaf or even just the worldbuilding. Its too artificial compared to Asoiaf and lotr. Characters in stormlight tend to be a lot similar or the same where as in asoiaf probably has the best cast in fantasy series. Stormlight is just marvel or superhero-esque book series which i find childish. To each their own but i tend to like reading stories that are convincing unlike stormlight. Asoiaf is more complex and the better written series imo. I like the magic system Brandon invented but other than that. His series tell more than they show. His humor, dialogue and romance are his weakness. Dialogue in asoiaf is probably the best in fantasy. George also knows how to write witty humor unlike sanderson and also knows how to write romance. Lmao. Do with this information as you will. Im not going to accept asoiaf slander by a series that just has marvel superheroes.

Ehhhh. Some aspects of this make sense, but Dawnshards seem pretty darn rare. We already know that there is a Dawnshard other than the hypothesized "unity". Two seems like a lot. But I am quite sure that Raize was at least somewhat concerned about the reconstitution of Honor, and such an event would possibly point to some revelation about the shattering of Adonalsium.

I think you’re getting warm on a lot of things. Only edits I would make is Honor being reforged later. I think SA5 will result in Kaladin dying but not before filling Jezrien’s position in a new Oathpact.

I am more and more on the side of Lirin taking up honor and the Son of Tanavast thing for Kaladin is even more literal that we thought....everything you are saying about Dalinar and the Dawnshard sounds cool and I'm on board with that, just that the vessel is Lirin instead of Kaladin. There are some things about Lirin that others have pointed out to me and there is so much smoke there.

This theory os blowing my mind actually. Falinar loosing and beong turned over to Odium seemed way too hopeless of an ending for the characters, but FINALLY the war light plot gets greater significance. Im so excited to hear more!
